I hope this doesn't offend anyone, it isn't intended to.
I don't think the FDA is worried about gays passing on STDs, i think there worried that they might pass on being gay.

I don't think it's even about the risk of STI's anymore, because anyone who donates any body fluid/part is tested before, at least twice. Now they're just being homophobic. Isn't descrimination like this supposed to be illegal?

They ask you on the form. They also ask if you've had sex with anybody from Africa also. I've given blood several times, and the question "are you gay?" has never appeared.

Personally, I'm mostly joking when I say I want to move to Canada, but for the people who are completly serious, I think it's just a matter that they've lost hope. It is important to fight the system, but sometimes it's so overwhelmingly conservative. It sure is hard to find hope sometimes.
