With Vulpina's note in his hands, Lupinus walked through the halls until he reached the other Fey's chambers. He stopped in front of her door, tucked the note into his belt and knocked twice. Waiting, he let his mind wander a little.

I wonder if she's there? Maybe she won't want to talk too much. I'd rather be outside hunting. She's a girl, I bet she won't really want to go outside with me either, like Aranea with her books...

He listened for the sound of someone coming toward the door.

Vulpina was sitting in on her bed, her nose in a book, with Simone, the kitsusagi, curled in her lap like a self-heating blanket.

She started alittle when she heard the knock at the door. Simone raised her head and twitched her ears, hair standing up a bit protectively. Kamiki usually just knocked twice and entered, so this obviously wasn't her.

Gently shoving Simone off her, she went to the door and opened it, her kitsu gaurd close at her heels.

The door opened, and Lupinus found himself face to face with a fey girl about his age; he glanced down and saw the creature standing proctectively just behind her and repressed his instinct to back away. He took out the note again and, unfolding it, held it up.

"You're Vulpina? I got your message." He pointed at the creature, considering that it might be good to have an animal companion of his own. "What's that? I've never seen one of those before."

Vulina blinked a few times. She had never actually met another fey like herself. Especially not a boy. After a moment, she regained comporsure and smiled. "Yes, I'm Vulpina. Very nice to meet you," she bowed her head in respect and motioned for him to come in.

Simone kept close at her heels, but calmed down as Vulpina's pleasant greeting.

"This is Simone," Vulpina said, patting her on her head. "My kithian says is a kitsusagi, something she brought to me from Gaia."

"Nice to meet you." Lupinus nodded a greeting in return, wondering vaguely if all the fey here were girls excepting himself. Well, he supposed girls weren't too boring; Aranea did make poisons, and he was sure the majestrix wasn't boring, though he'd yet to meet her.

Kneeling in front of Simone, he slowly extended his hand for the kitsusagi to sniff. "She's from Gaia-- have you been to Gaia?" he asked, curious to know what Gaia was like.

Simone sniffed the outstretched hand cautiously. After sensing no danger, the fox-creature rubbed her head into the open palm in a not-so-subtle invite for petting.

Vulpina smiled then turned her attention back to the boy. "Me? No. Kamiki promises to take me soon, but she says recently things have not been good. "Personal issues," she tells me."

Lupinus scratched Simone behind her ears, smiling absently. "I want to see Gaia. I think I'll have my kithain take me. But first I want to explore more of the grounds and land around this castle. That's more important to know for a war," he added, his preoccupation with battles showing.

"Aranea says the majestrix is preparing everything for a war. Have you met her yet-- the majestrix?" he clarified, remembering that Aranea hadn't met other fey children yet, so Vulpina couldn't know her.

"War? I'm afraid I wouldn't want to fight in a war. At least not with swords and stuff."

She closed the book she was reading and placed it on her bookshelf.

"I haven't explored much, either, though. To be quite honest I'm horribly bored sitting here in my room reading. I mean - its interesting and all, but I'm ready for a break."

She looked back at Lupinus. "The majestrix? Kamiki said she was there when I broke out of the window, but I don't remember."

Lupinus made a face. "What is it with girls and reading books all the time? Well... if you don't want to fight with swords, what would you do?" He wasn't a big fan of swords himself, so maybe there was still hope.

He brightened at her mention of exploring. "You'd come exploring?"

"I don't remember her, either," He tugged on his hair, thinking. "I don't remember much about the window, or before that. And I've never seen a grown-up here; kithain don't count."

"I can fight with magic," she said simply. She dusted her hands off and smiled to the boy.

"Yes, I'd love to go exploring!"

"Oh, okay." Magic sounded all right, he thought hopefully. And she did say she'd explore with him, that was a good sign, too. "Maybe we can find something interest--"

He felt a sharp pain in his stomach and fell back to his knees in surprise as the pain spread through his arms and legs; even his wings hurt. "What--?" He squinted his eyes as strange light washed over him, barely able to see Vulpina through the glow. He felt his clothes getting tighter and heard the seams tear.

Getting shakily to his feet, blinking to get rid of the aftereffects of the fading glow, he noticed that he was suddenly... quite a bit taller than he had been, and older. And still decent he saw gratefully, as he hastily checked what was left of his clothing. He looked down at Vulpina, now so much smaller than him, not sure what to say. "I, ah... well."

Vulpina jumped as Lupinis doubled over in pain. "What's wrong!? What's happening?" Vulpina didn't know what to do, and that flustered her.

She waved her hands, gave a flustered squeal, and ran over to her bookshelf, grabbing one of her spellbooks, not really knowing what she was looking for. She was flipping hastily through the pages when the sound of pain seemed to stop.

"I, ah..well...."

Vulpina spinned around at the sound of his voice and promptly dropped the heavy book she was holding, her hands clasping over her mouth in shock. Her cheeks began to burn as she stared, not knowing exactly what she was feeling for thinking.

I mean, a few minutes ago Lupinis was just a smelly boy. Now... well, now he was, ya know, a teenager.

"Wha, I me-, uh...what happened?" She finally managed, trying to keep from staring anywhere other than his face.

Lupinus shiften uneasily, his gaze darting around the room. He wished he'd had some kind of warning... and he still wasn't sure what exactly had happened.

"I remember now, hearing about growing up, how it happened," he said, half to himself. "I didn't expect-- I guess that's what it's like." He looked down at Vulpina briefly, suddenly unsure how to deal with children though he'd so recently been one himself. He shifted again. "I should probably go," he muttered, feeling a little shaky, which he did not like, but not knowing if he ought to just dash off.

Still blushing, Vulpina leaned down and sheepishly retrieved the book she dropped.

"Oh, uh, okay... I guess I'll see you around then..."

She went over to the door, making a wide cirlcle around Lupin, and opened it for him, eyes fixated on the floor.

She suddenly felt very...childish, I didn't like that all. Helpless and floundering for words- that wasn't like her. She was usually a well spoken child. Of course, this really caught her off gaurd.

His cheeks still burning, and irritated with himself for being unable to control his shock, and for not being able to keep silent during his growth, Lupinus walked to the door, nodding a quick goodbye and mumbling a quick "Thanks... bye. Ah-- see you around," as he stepped into the hall.

Once he far enough away from the door, he ran back to his own rooms, feeling too tall and awkward, disoriented by seeing everything from such a higher view.
