Obie reached up and brushed a stray strand of hair out of her eyes as he gave her a long winded answer as well. Seemed they had that in common. Speaking more than was probably necessary whenever sensitive topics were brought up. She dropped her eyes down to the ground and reveled in the break that the shade of the thick trees gave them from the heat.

"Well... it's not like you have much choice in the matter," she said with a small shrug. "Do it when you're ready, but know that the longer you put it off, the harder it will be."

Ra looked down at the pools of light that had broken through the trees and nodded.
"Yeah, I know." He said reaching up to adjust the backpack on his back. "But enough about all that. It's your birthday. Not a day to be spending talking about my problems."

He smiled and picked up pace on the gravel path. It was funny how the world was automatically peaceful once under the orange Tori. Just birds and cicadas the wind in the trees. He smiled, this was going to be a regular hide away, he thought to himself.

"Well, here we are." He said stopping next to the wooden steps of the old temples. "I hope you are hungry."

Obie gave him a bright smile, more than happy to be back at the temple. There was no pressures here. No sister, no parents, no expectations other than to relax and enjoy good company. Sitting down on the wooden floor, she crossed her legs and leaned her elbows on her knees.

"Starving actually," she smiled up at him.

"Good good." He smiled opening the backpack and pulling out a couple of plastic containers. "Um, it's just soem quick stuff." He said taking the lid off the first container and letting the smell of spices waft out into the warm air.
"This is some lamb and minty spice stuff. My grandmother's special recipe." He placed it in front of her and opened a couple more containers, one with salad, another with flatbread and a final one with hummus.
"And it's not really much but here." He said handing her a thin rectangluar, wrapped present containing a copy of Ray Bradbury's Farenheit 451. "I don't know if you've read it but I really like it so I thought you might." He shrugged and pulled out a couple of bottles of tea.

Obie peered into each container that he opened and could feel her stomach rumbling silently at the scents that wafted up to her one the warm breezes. It all smelled and looked divine, even if he claimed that it was that it was "just some quick stuff". She looked back up at him as he continued and flushed lightly at the awkwardly wrapped gift he held out to her. Looking back up to his shade dappled face, she smiled a bit shyly as she took it from him. She unwrapped it and looked back up at him. It was one of her favorites.

"Thank you Rashne. Thank you very much," she said, resisting the urge to get up and hug him. She was getting much to huggy with him.

Ra smiled and shrugged a little.
"Let's eat." He said pulling out some cutlery and placing it on one of the lids. Relaxing into the peaceful atmosphere of the temple he picked up the flat bread and forked some salad and hummus onto it. He took a bite and was pleased. It had turned out well for a rush job.
"O.k, you get a wish because it is your birthday." He bagan once he had swallowed. "What do you wish for?"

Obie smiled and started to eat as well. "Mmm... Ra... tell your aunt thank you," she smirked after she swallowed her first bite. "She's doing a good job with your training," she grinned and winked as she took another bite.

"A wish?" she repeated, sucking some grease from the lamb off of her thumb. She thought about it for a moment. She had never been one to waste her time on such silly things as wishing. But she didn't want to tell him that and ruin the fun of the day.

"World peace," she snorted jokingly. "Um... I don't know. What's there to wish for? This day is already pretty near perfect," she smiled and took another bite.

"For someone who reads a lot of books you lack severely in imagination." He teased as she made fun of his question. "You could wish for anything, and World peace maybe cliche but it's not a stupid wish." He shrugged and picked up some lamb.

"As for my training I won't starve to death. I'm not sure many girls our age appreciate guys cooking. I technically should be doing stuff like lifting weights and crushing cans on my forehead inpreparation for university." He gave a snort of laughter and shook his head. "Ah well, means I'll be stress free for my final year

Obie smirked at his words and decided to cave a little.
"Alright, alright," she grinned and reached out for a bottle of tea. "But you're going to think I'm cheesy and get all embarassed," she smirked and took a sip of tea, already feeling the beginning of a blush creeping over her pale cheeks.

"I know I've made it clear that I'm not exactly in the market for one at the moment, but if I ever am I wish I could find a guy like you," she said, glancind down into the amber liquid inside her bottle.

At her words Ra looked up at her and blinked. Yup it was official, Obie was quite clearly insane. He could feel the familiar blush creeping up and thanked his tan that it wouldn't show too much. He sat in silence for a moment dropping his head forwards to conceal his blush with his hair.
"Um, well. First you obviously need to get your head checked." He said, a smirk colouring his face. "Well, when you decide to get back in the game, come and find me, if I am ready then maybe ... we could try dating." He kept his head bowed for the moment. He knew for him that would be a long while. He was serious about staying stress free for his senior year.

"Or like the movies ... if we're both still single at age thirty we should get married." He gave a soft snort of laughter and looked up at her. "But you'd be better off finding a guy like me. You know, without the insomnia and moods." he grinned and picked up another piece of bread, breaking it off and popping it in his mouth.
"Wow, you really know how to wind me up."

His silence drew her eyes upwards, and she started to panic a little. She shouldn't have said that. She had meant it as a compliment, but he might have taken it the wrong way.

Swallowing nervously, she waited for him to speak, then gave a soft snort of laughter at his opening words. He was more right than he knew. But his next words just about floored her. Surely she had heard him wrong. She wanted to search his face to see if he was just messing around or not, but he kept his head down and she could feel her blush deepening considerably. When he finally looked up, she blinked for a moment, then smiled. She was completely stunned into silence though. That had seriously been the last thing she had expected him to say.... and he had said it so bluntly.

"Well... if insomnia and moodiness are the worst things you have to offer, I think I could manage with some of the things I've had to put up with," she finally managed to smirk. "As for winding you up.... I do try my hardest," she smirked and took another sip of her tea.

"It's a deal then." He laughed before finishing the bread. "And you are doing very well, though I'm hardly difficult to wind up."

Their usual comfortable silence fell for a while as he ate until he was full and enjoyed the atmosphere of their temple hideaway.
"I mean't what I said." He said looking up at her. "I really enjoy spending time with you." He smiled warmly and turned his attention back to his tea.
"It's funny you know, I thought you were well wierd when I first met you ... do you remember, in the library." He grinned and took another mouthful of tea. "It seems like such a long time ago."

"Sure. It's a deal then," she laughed as well. As the familiar silence fell between them, her mind started working through everything that had just transpired between them. When she finished eating, she leaned back on her hands and turned her face up to the branches above them. She dropped her eyes back down to him when began to speak again and a bemused expression fell across her features.

"Hmm... I think that maybe you are the one who should have their head examined," she smirked in regards his actually meaning what he had said. She watched him and her smirk deepened at his rememberance of their first meaning. She dropped her eyes down to her lap as she thought back to that day.

"It does seem like a long time ago. I feel like I've been here forever," she said, looking down at the wooden floor and watching an ant crawl away from her. "I was kinda weird then. But I had a lot of growing up to do at that time too. I thought you would be one of those popular types. You know... good looking and obnoxious about it. I was a little surprised that you actually had a brain in your head and could put whole thoughts together. But I was also loathing the fact I had to do a partner project. As you have seen, I don't work well with others," she smirked slightly and glanced up into his eyes.

Ra blinked as she spoke and started to laugh loudly.
"Me? a popular type." He shook his head as the laughter subsided and rested his arms on his knees. "I've never been like that." He watched her for a moment and smiled. "people get that wrong because I like sport, but I'm a total geek as you know."
He gave a small snort of laughter, and inside he felt a warm glow at the thought that she had implied she found him good looking. Something he had never really considered himself.

"Yeah I did notice." He said in relation to her inability to work with others. "Though I don't know. We seem to be getting along fine."

Laughing, she unfolded her legs to stretch them out in front of her. "An absolute nerd," she smirked and tapped his knee with the toe of her shoe. "That's definitely you." She laughed again when he agreed with her about not working well with others, then tilted her head to the side as she looked back into his eyes.

"I truly wonder at that. And sometimes I really do think you need your head examined. I'm not a nice person most of the time and much moodier than you'll ever hope to be. Some of the things you've helped me through... you really didn't have to and I can only imagine what you might really think of me because of them," she said, finally voicing a nagging worry of hers as casually as she possibly could.
