Gasping as she heard the zing of bullets, Sey felt Eint hold onto her tighter. Bullets rained down from the top of the dam onto the Rook and Sey and were deflected off her barriers like rain. "Sunstrike!" Sey yelled as she wriggled from Eint's grasp and stood behind the Rook. "Eint, please help me." Grasping tightly onto her guardian's hand, Sey cried out as she called upon Falis to lend her power. Brilliant sparks of light flashed around Sey, Sunstrike, Flare, Eint and the Rook and encased them in several barriers and gasping, Sey stared at the 25 miners with their guns trained at them. "Stop them Eint. Stop them now." Barrier Re-Cast Luminescent Shield - A transparent bubble forms around the target and lessens the amount of damage a target takes from melee attacks for a duration of 15 minutes. The Shield can deflect sword slashes, thrusts and punches but unless the caster focuses her aura directly to the area of the shield that will connect with a strong physical attack, the barrier will be overpowered and broken. Barrier of the Saints - Deflects small projectiles (Non-magical arrows, knives, normal bullets etc.) aimed at a target for a duration of 10 minutes till overpowered or broken. Curtain of Light - In a spray of sparks, a Barrier forms around the target and lessens the amount of damage a target takes from magic attacks and telekinesis (Magic missiles, explosions, mind blasts etc.) for a duration of 10 minutes or until overpowered and broken. Curtain of Light can not hold up against strong magic/telekinetic attacks and is dispelled after a major hit. The Shield can deflect weak spells or the aftershock of one but unless the caster focuses her aura directly to the area of the shield that will bear the brunt of a strong magical attack, the barrier will be overpowered and broken.

"Sey get that shield back up!." Sunstrike winced as a few pings announced some fire happy miners were having a laugh at his expence, although they didn't seem the best of marksmen. His eyes widened furthur when the Rook stumbled.
"Damn..." Of course you didn't have to be when your target was larger then the broadside of a barn. They're best hope at the moment was the white mages magic.
"Flare..." He looked to the woman and grew darker as the pings grew more in quantity.

Flare was fortunately hanging back from the rook, who was the target of most of the gunfire.
"I'm fine!" She shouted back to Sun. "You want me to throw a bit of fire at them? No guarantee it will hit from here, though."
She looked up...there was no way she could get closer to the hail of gunfire. Not without getting shot down. Maybe with a barrier...

There of course was a nice period between castings where bullets did get to the rook. And dark mater was a'flying and the armor plates were melting away. The shields did get up in time to prevent the creature from falling backwards to its doom.
So what did it do with its saved life.
Went in a straight line of course, ran into the midst of things, wailing its arms about trying to knock down as many miners as possible. And, perhaps by pure luck, deleivering a solid blow to the dam.

Two of the four men who had been on top of the dam fell as the entire thing shook violently after that hit.
They screamed the whole way down; one of them falling straight past the ledge and to the rocks below, in the Dead Woods; the other landing in front of the Rook upon a large rock in the riverbed.

There was a whoosh, and a crash, and splinters flew among the bullet fire.
"Damn...yeah Flare, I think we could use that right about now." He looked to Sey, but she was busy controlling Eint. "If you can get the ones up high I'll get the ones coming in down here..."
He winced at the crunch as one fell into the riverbed.

"********!" Samantha bellowed, As she saw a bullet zing off the creature. "SEYUMI!" She screamed the name like a curse word. God damned white mages... She didn't know if the White mage was actually there or not, but it was a good safe curse word for the moment.
She then yelled up to the miners. "THROW THAT GAS ON IT!" She however, continued firing at the critter, trying to get it away from the dam if at all possible.

Hearing her name echo down from the top of the dam, Sey sweatdroped. That wasn't Sam, was it?
"Eint!" Sey said, staring at her guardian with serious eyes. "Knock down as many men as you can. Keep them from comming near me and the Rook!"
Staying as close as she could to the towering Shade without getting hit herself, the White Mage prayed. Between the punching, the getting shot at and the utter chaos around her, Sey closed her eyes, opened her senses and began to pray - gathering her energy and calling upon Falis.
"Please, Sweet Light please..."

((Ok, try to follow somewhat of a post order. Rook, Kat... Team Shade.))
The rook had its back turned to the group now, focusing its dark matter to harden around its back. A sheild there would be much better than none. Especialy considering the magial barriers had long been pushed to their limits and would break at the next attack.
Winding up the shade let forth a powerful two hit combo.

And the gas was being splashed on the Rook as best they could. It wasn't a perfect throw, but plenty was still getting on it and on the gorund too. "******** FALIS!" Again, Sam cursed. She then began digging around in her purse, she knew what she wanted, it would just take a second to get it out.

It might have been luck. It might not. But as the miners were sending the gas down, Flare was sending a fireball up...
More than likely, this would cause the majority of the gas to ignite in mid air, burning away before it could fall on the rook. The miners also know had a fireball coming their way, though Flare's aim wasn't the best from this distance. It would be a simple matter to dodge it, if it was even in danger of hitting anyone in the first place.
Flare began flying upward, still keeping her distance from the rook and the actual dam. She hoped the fireball would distract them, and they would stay focused on the rook instead of trying to shoot at her.

Seeing the near overwhelming odds, the miners began to scatter...
Except that there was nowhere to run.
They ran to the corners, hid back, and fired blindly at both the rook and the others who were aiding it. Rifles, pistols, even shotguns... they were not a uniform army and were not uniformly armed. They had what they had been given... some who had nothing more than hand axes or knives picked up rocks and threw them, not wanting to get close to those monsters.

Sey backed up against the Rook and clutched her hands together tightly in prayer. Their barriers were the two strongest in the area - the power from Flare, Eint and Sunstrike's barriers siphoned to keeping the rook and White Mage safe. "Eint! Stop them!" At her plead, the glowing Guardian charged the scattering miners with halberd drawn. Swiping at them with deadly force and accuracy, the guardian's slash would most likely wound several of them severely. Unlike the White Mage, the Guardian was much more violent. Much more.

((XD overwhelming...all three of us RAWR))
Sunstrike barely dodged the blade that thunked into the tree behind him.
"Jeeze..." He watched as Flare sent the rough miners into a frenzy of panic over her looks, not to mention that fireball that now had most of the inner part of the dam burning along the left over petrol droplets.
He knew better then to let most of the running miner escape, however. Any half living body was disposed of with a bladed edge, as well as any comunicator device.
Sun shook the blood from his staff, before feeling something itch between his shoulder blades. He looked up at the rook, ignoring a few more pings from stray bullets.
"Nahhhh, couldn't be..." And he went back to the task at hand.
