if He gives us an option that He knows we'd say no to why doesn't He just give us one that we'd say yes to that wouldn't effect the outcome in a different way other than how He wants it

Ow. My head's about to explode. Debates can be so confusing...
Well, there are many different paths to choose from, and more than one may lead to where you need to be, though they may be more painful than they need to. So even though you say "No" to God, he can bring some good out of it, though it'd have been easier for you to have said "Yes." Am I making any sense?

Sure, makes sense. Kind of like, several paths, that all lead to the same place, just some are easier than others....but in that case....that'd mean no one would go to hell... sweatdrop Umm...there should really be a topic started on free will rather than prayer. xp

Plenty have been started in other places. All mods shut them down because too many people started going off at each other. But seriously, if He wants us to take the easy way He should give us the path PLAIN AS DAY, not say "Oh well, here are your choices, if you pick the wrong one that's your fault." And you can't even tell which one is the wrong one cuz they all look the same.
Ner, this whole Christianity thing is REALLY getting on my nerves. And I've been Christian for two years! It should NOT be like this. There's just too much conflict suddenly in what I believe in. What I read in the Bible is love, peace, God acting on His anger but rewarding those who follow Him. And yet in my life I see none of that. ESPECIALLY in my church. Everyone there treats each other like a fake. They'll shake hands and ask how was your day but then they'll go and analyze your whole life based on whether you said good or bad. If you said good it means you're lying and if you said bad it means you belong in hell.
I REALLY don't wanna do this anymore. Yet I still wanna believe He's there and cares. But how can I have faith in Him anymore when He refuses to listen or answer me? I'm sorry but it just ain't gonna happen.

sad Sounds like you're going through a rough time in your spiritual life.

I'm sorry how you feel about your church family, and I know I've been there. Sometimes it seems like a bunch of people that just want to look good and feel good about themselves, and you're stuck in the middle of it. Just remember that God put you there for a reason, and He gave you this realization for a reason.

You're questioning a lot about Christianity, and that's great. That's how you get answers.

What's not great is how many Christians react to this. This, this is the reason why I hate debates and how Christians are always able to find one. We always seem to pick a side and not move, argue to the end, make valid points, and...for what? Sure, one of us may be right, one wrong, both right, both wrong.

Whatever. Look, we're Christians. What the crap are we doing here arguing with each other? Especially over the petty things. I'm a member of Christian Forums, and I gotta say, I can only be on there for a little while before it bugs me. ALMOST EVERY THREAD turns into a debate about something. It's truely disheartening. I know some of these arguements are important, but they're also relatively pointless as it's extremely rare when anybody switches sides.

Ok, I vented for a bit. ScarredImage, I'm sorry if my comments added to your frustration or anything. Please remember that I was trying to help, and I felt like I should have. You're my sister in Christ, I love ya, and if there's anything you really want to talk about, I'm here.

Don't worry about it Skymon. Not frustrated at all. I'm actually very glad you posted. Because you're one of the only people (besides some others in this thread and a few from other guilds) who hasn't attacked me for asking questions.

I know you were. I didn't mean you. I've had a lot of people from other guilds attacking me like crazy though! Like this one girl went all "Oh yeah? Well I went through hard crap than you cuz I'm older!" and I was just shocked. That was flat out rude and made me feel bad. And then she went off moping over herself. And it was waaaaaaay off topic so when I told her to go back to the topic the thread starter had (I didn't start the thread) she went off at me! Crazy

I know Jesus has set my course already... but I try to speak to Him, anyway. I talk to Him like I would a friend, most of the time. I rant at Him, apologize to Him, cry with Him, smile with Him, laugh, thank Him... I treat Him like the friend that truly knows the ugliness of my soul and loves me anyway. And formal praying... it can be so stress relieving to just come before God and ask Him, tell Him, give it to Him. Whether it changes my life or not... it helps.

I move through my life on a rollercoaster, and sometimes I forget to treat God as the friend that's along for the ride. When I do... I always feel out of control. It's so much easier to just keep Him close...

um...yeah. that's why I pray.

This is another topic for another time but I don't think we really have free will. How can it be free will if He already knows what it is we're gonna do? He planned it after all.
Back on topic: Just thinking about Him is kinda like praying, and why does He need to hear from us if He knows already? That's kind of a dumb concept. It's like seeing your kid doing his/her homework, you look over your kid's shoulder and see that he/she is working on an algebra equation on a worksheet with the teacher's name on it, yet you ask anyway "Are you doing your homework?" Total obvious duh. So to me it's like God seeing me cry, knowing I'm hurt, knowing why I'm hurt, being able to feel whats in my heart, but asking me anyway "Why are you crying?" HELLO YOU KNOW ALREADY! And asking for something doesn't get Him to change His mind over whether He gives it or not. If it's in His plan He will, if not He won't. He's not gonna change His mind on whether I get my ex back or whether grandpa will get better or not just because I ask Him to. It's already planned out. So there's really no point. Even for praise and forgiveness! Cuz He knows when you're thinking in your head "Thanks God" or "I shouldn't have done that." HE KNOWS! So, again, why pray?

He may know what you are doing, but You don't. You have to make the decision for good or bad. You are the one who has to learn from from your decisions not him.

When I pray it's mostly just to talk to him. I tell him what I'm doing and what I intend to do. I ask him for something I need, like more patience. I ask for that a lot.

I pray over situations and circumstances that I can't handle because I know that if i can't find a way, that God can.
