Whoa NO! "No! No, no, no, no, no... no!"
Amyla sighed heavily, watching her mate pace back and forth across the kitchen, his tail twitching in agitation and his wings rustling behind his back. She knew he would react like this. He always did. He always overreacted. Of course, she herself overreacted on occasion, but not with the alarming frequency that her mate did. He just... liked to react, as opposed to think.
"Amyla, we discussed this before, and you still haven't fully recovered from Caleb. How can you honestly expect to have another kid?" Aiodhan managed to squeak out, obviously very distressed by this most recent turn of events. Another child? Another child?? What next?! More adopted children too?
That made Amyla snort. "I've recovered just fine, thank you! Besides, I think it'll be good for Caleb to have someone his age to play with if they grow up close enough. We talked about this before, Fuzz. Please?" she begged, resorting to his secret petname and her most pathetic expression to get his attention.
He didn't give in, but he did stop his pacing and walk to her, curling wings, tail, and arms about her small body. "Yeah, we did talk about it, but I thought we'd wait. You know I don't want to risk you-"
"Aiodhan! I'm strong! I think I can handle it!" Amyla replied tartly, smacking him on the chest and trying to shove him farther away so that she could look him in the eye. He resisted, and she lost. "Aiodhan..."
The dragon-man tightened his hold on her, and Amyla felt him nuzzle his face into the sensitive patch of skin where her neck and shoulder met. She squirmed at first and then was surprised to find his breathing rather unsteady. "Aiod?"
"I don't want to lose you, May," came his muttered reply, his voice muffled from where his face was buried against her skin. "I don't want to risk you getting sick."
She gently stroked his tousled hair, surprised that she, the smaller and more physically fragile one, was comforting he, the strong and brave. "You're not going to lose me. With you fussing over me, I'm sure I'll be just fine," she said, injecting as much cheer as she could into her voice to cover up the uncertainty.
She felt one of his ear's twitch, and then he relaxed. "If you say so, Angel," he grumbled, yanking her closer.
Amyla grinned. She knew he'd like the idea, once he had some time to get used to it...

[Meeting Sheva and Dekko] MoonRazor "Y'know, you said nobody'd be around at night." Sheva pointed out. She was sitting on Dekko's back as they took a stoll through the moonlit park.
"No I didn't." Dekko's ear flickered back to listen to his friend's voice. It was all calm tonight. They had left Karyon at home for the night. Despite knowing that the place would most likely be completely trashed by morning, it was still quiet relief from his constant snuffling and growling.
"Yes, you did. You said there'd be nobody in the park." Sheva looked up at the trees. Whitewashed moonlight flowed through the cracks between the leaves as they ambled along the packed dirt path.
"No, sweetie, what I said was 'people don't go to parks at night.'"
"And by that, you'd have meant nobody would be here."
"I said people, Sheva. Didn't say nothing about other creatures." Dekko sniggered. "Besides, I don't see anyone around."
"There's pe-... creatures right in front of us!" Sheva hissed.
Dekko stretched his neck forward at the tiny little creature, who sat frozen in fear at the sheer enormity of the pegasus in the middle of the path. "Honey, that's a rat."
"...Fine." Amyla Edana "And that's Taurus, the bull! It's one of the twelve zodiac signs too," Kayce said, pointing up at a grouping of stars in the sky. The fae girl's blue eyes were wide and wondering, her face lit up with a rare expression of interest at this nighttime stroll.
Aiodhan chuckled at her enthusiasm, shifting Caleb's weight on his hip. Well, at least the little brat was showing interest in something. "Yes, I see it. May?"
"I see it as well. Couldn't you have taken up cooking as a hobby instead of stargazing?" Amyla yawned sleepily as they meandered along the path. She was leaning against Aiodhan's warm side for support and was silently grateful when they began to walk amongst the trees. Now Kayce couldn't see the stars to-
"I hear something," Kayce stated quite abruptly, ceasing all forward movement and tilting her pointy-eared head to one side. MoonRazor "I hear something." Dekko snickered when he heard Sheva's echo. Both creatures had caught the sound of something up ahead at the same time, and now both's ears were strained forward for more information. "You relax, Sheev, you shouldn't be too strained." Dekko took a careful step cautious. This was a bad situation. If anything bad happened, he wouldn't be able to run or fly, with Sheva on his back.
"Listen, I'm having a baby, I'm not handicapped." Sheva snapped, ears pricked forward. "Go see what's going on. Come on, Dek, it's just a park, nothing bad's gonna happen."
Dekko took more steps forward. It was quite a lot of creatures, he could tell from the intermingling scents. His nostrils flared as he walked, head lowered cautiously toward the ground. Amyla Edana The group was reigned by silence for a moment after Kayce's proclamation. Then Caleb giggled, and the moment was ended.
"Ahhh, it's probably nothing, Kayce. Just the leaves rustling in the wind," Aiodhan said cheerfully before continuing along his merry way, trying to pry Caleb's jaws from his shirt collar with his free hand, the other hand occupied in keeping the infant on his hip.
Amyla beckoned at Kayce. "Come on, Kayce. Let's keep walking before Mum falls asleep," she said tiredly.
Reluctant to pass this off as leaves, Kayce continued on, looking far more alert than usual. Quickening her pace to a sort of trot, she sped ahead of her parents, investigating further along down the path. She had heard something, and it wasn't leaves. She was sure of it! MoonRazor Dekko blew softly at the path, blowing at the sand. What he heard was like a herd of elephants stampeding toward him. But then, his ears were unusually sensitive. And whatever was nearing, he was sure didn't know he and Sheva where there. They were definitely headed toward them, after all.
"Eh, here they come." Sheva said, flicking her tail idly against her friend's rump.
"Hey, could you not do that?" Dekko's ear flicked back irately. He hated when things smacked against his rump. Amyla Edana Kayce didn't even miss a beat as she rounded the corner, several paces ahead of her family, to find the two unfamiliar beings waiting there. With bravery that only the young (or perhaps the stupid) can possess, she strode forward, stopping a few paces away. "Hello," she said simply, no inflection in her voice at all.
"Kayce, please don't get too far... ahead..." Amyla trailed off as they came around the corner after the fae. She blinked. Well, maybe Kayce had heard something after all. Damn it, why did the fae have to be right so often?
Aiodhan just stared and continued trying to pry Caleb's jaws from his shirt, growling at his son as if he thought it would help. It didn't, of course. The boy just giggled. MoonRazor "Hey, kid, maybe next time, you could tell those people to walk-"
"Dekko, SHUT UP!" Sheva hissed, flicking her tail against his rump again. "Hello." Sheva responded calmly, ears flickering forward as a woman rounded the corner. "And so," She said to the fae in front of herself and Dekko. "I take it your name's Kayce?"
"Wh... You just cut me off from my punchline!" Dekko blinked, turning his head slightly to get a good look at Sheva. "Wow, pregnancy sure has made you crabby." He turned back to the fae standing before him. "Well, apologies for the wolf. I'm Dekko. She's Sheva." He looked past Kayce. "Who's with the posse?" Amyla Edana "My name is not 'kid.' It is Kayce," Kayce informed Dekko, giving Sheva a nod. Yes, at least the female one had a brain.
"Ahhh... hello. I didn't think anyone else would be out this late," Aiodhan chuckled, eyeing the wolf and the... was that a pegasus? "Nice to meet you, Dekko and Sheva. I'm Aiodhan, this little pair of jaws-"
He poked Caleb on the nose, making the infant giggle and chew more on his collar.
"-is our son, Caleb. This is Amyla, who looks like she's falling asleep on me..."
"I'm awake!"
"Okay, so she's not asleep. And you met Kayce," he finished, giving up trying to free his collar. Best to just let Caleb chew on it for now. MoonRazor "We sure did. Well met, y'all." Sheva said, hopping down from Dekko's back lightly.
"Yea, yea..." Dekko responded to Kayce with a roll of his eyes. "OMGSHEV-"
"God... I'm fine, Dek." Sheva smiled at Aoidhan. "Well, somebody here said that there'd be nobody around in a park so late at night, which was why I came. Turns out, he was lying."
"See, I didn't lie. I'm a pegasus. Pegasusses.. wait, pegasi, right? Yea... Pegasi don't lie. She misheard me!" Dekko said indignantly. Amyla Edana Kayce managed not to curl her lip at Dekko's minor exclamation. Honestly, couldn't he see that the she-wolf was perfectly fine? Her good mood at having seen a new constellation was entirely ruined.
Aiodhan gave the pegasus a mildly pitying glance. Poor guy. He just couldn't win that argument. "No matter how wrong the woman is, she is always right. Just stop arguing now and save the energy," he told Dekko with the wisdom of one who has learned the hard way.
Despite her weariness, Amyla had to grin. "I have him well-trained," she told Sheva with a grin. "Are you just out walking for fun or for the exercise? MoonRazor "Wise..." Dekko said with a smile, nodding at Aoidhan's words. "Short leash, eh? Well, I haven't got the worst of it." He added, thinking of Karyon, who despite being only Sheva's mate, was like the robot werewolf to both of them.
"Well, I'm just out for funsies, but I don't know about Dekko." Sheva said, answering Amyla's question and smiling at her previous comment. "I would've liked to walk, but Mr. Overprotective here didn't want be to get my paws dirty." Sheva rolled her eyes at her friend, who looked a little miffed. Amyla Edana Aiodhan grinned, baring a mouth full of very dangerous-looking teeth. "Oh, I wouldn't say 'short leash.' But she has calmed me down a bit from the wild days of my youth," he said, gently curling his tail about Amyla's waist.
"Mr. Overprotective? Hmm.... sounds like someone I know," Amyla remarked wryly, castling a glance up at her mate. "Are you both nocturnal, or could you just not sleep?"
Kayce, growing increasingly more bored with this adult conversation, was sizing up the nearest tree for climbing purposes. Yes, that looked like a nice sturdy one... MoonRazor "Well, I'd normally be asleep, but somebody let the werewolf sleep near me, and god knows, that thing can snore." Dekko snorted, thinking back to what had seemed like a minor explosion at the time when Karyon had settled in to sleep next to him.
Sheva giggled. "You should've seen the way he jumped up and almost trampled Kar." She said. "But I mean, I don't mind. I sometimes sleep and sometiems I don't." She nodded. She'd never quite met a family quite like this one before. Amyla Edana "Werewolf?" Aiodhan queried with an even more wicked grin. He had always wanted to meet a werewolf. They sounded like such fascinating creatures, if a bit brutal.
Amyla had to smile at that thought, the pegasus trampling a werewolf. It would have been quite amusing to see, though not quite as amusing as the expressions Aiodhan wore when Amyla surprised him with something. Those were plain comical. "Mmm... wish I could be like that, only sleeping sometimes. These three are insomniacs, and I have to get at least five hours of sleep a night," she grumbled good-naturedly, keeping an idle eye on Kayce, who was now scaling a tree. MoonRazor "Yep. Big black one." Sheva said with a fleeting smile. At least he wasn't here. That, at least, was good.
"Well, I just don't see what's in that that's funny, lady!" Dekko asked Sheva in bewilderment. "If I'd really trampled him, he'd have bit me." Amyla Edana Aiodhan looked slightly disappointed that he had missed meeting said werewolf. He had a liking for big and vicious things, mostly because he was a big and vicious thing himself when given the occasion.
"So? When he bites you, you bite him back," Amyla yawned, trying hard to cover up her weariness. "I suppose that would be a bit difficult, but you could always kick him instead." MoonRazor Dekko grinned at Aiodhan's expression, shaking his head slightly. "You aren't missin' out on much, friend." He looked over at Amyla, shrugging. "Well, he's got giant teeth for one. I'm thinkin' if he bit me, it'd hurt a lot."
"Yea, it would..." Sheva said, nodding thoughtfully. "But then, you'll never get Dek to kick him. He 'doesn't kick friends.'" She rolled her eyes
"Huh, she wouldn't like it much if I kicked her." Dekko muttered to Aoidhan. Amyla Edana "Maybe not. But still... I'd like to meet something with a bit of ferocity. The most vicious things in my house are Erin and Kayce when they start fighting," Aiodhan said, glancing around to see if Kayce was still in the vicinity. She was... even though she was halfway up a nice tall oak tree. "Mmm... wouldn't recommend trying to kick her. Females get very unhappy when you harm them, and while they might not have much in the way of brawn, they can blow your eardrums out with screams," he muttered back to Dekko, nodding emphatically. Yes, he had learned that one the hard way too.
Amyla smirked a bit and took Caleb from Aiodhan's grasp, cradling the cooing, giggling boy against her chest. "Size has nothing to do with it. It's the force behind the action that counts," she replied, giving Sheva a wink. "He is worried about the friend biting and serious injuring him, but he wouldn't ever kick back in self-defense?" MoonRazor "I'm sure I share whatever experience you've had with women and screaming." Dekko said with a nod. Oh yes. If there were a contest for the shrillest and loudest screamer in the world, Sheva would top it with little effort.
"Oh, well he-" Sheva turned to Dekko, and blinked. "It rather seems as if they've started their own conversation." She said with a smile. "Well, you haven't seen Karyon's teeth. When he gets mad, he'll bite just about anything. Amyla Edana Aiodhan raised an eyebrow. "She can scream that loudly?" he queried in the quietest whisper possible, eyeing Sheva.
Nodding in agreement, Amyla gave a shrug. "Well, let them talk. I think poor Aiodhan feels overwhelmed by the estrogen levels in the house. He and Caleb are the only males. We have four other children, all females. And... well, one more in the making, I suppose you could say," she said with a rather abashed look. "That temperamental? I don't know if I could handle him, then. Aiodhan is cranky enough!" MoonRazor "Oh yes." Dekko said, dropping his voice down to a husky whisper. "You've not heard true screamin' until you've heard Sheva scream."
"Oh, I know the feeling. There's too much testosterone around where I live." Sheva agreed with Amyla with a smile. "And congratulations." She said, thinking back to the time when Karyon had been a normal wolf. She'd had one litter of puppies with him, a litter of four. Two, however, had been stillborn, and the other two had been taken by hunters. After that, she'd near swore off having children altogether. Until Dekko had tricked her into the clinic. "Well, yea. He can be a mighty scary beast, that he can be." Amyla Edana "Oh, I think Amyla could give her a run for her money," Aiodhan whispered back, occasionally glancing at the females to make sure they weren't listening in. "And when she gets really mad, she gives the silent treatment. I think I'd take screaming over the damned silent treatment. She won't acknowledge me or look at me or speak to me or refer to me at all, and it's scary. She only did it to me once, and I hope she doesn't do it ever again!"
Amyla had the good grace to cringe. "Oh, I'm sorry to hear that. Don't you ever want some female company?" She blushed a bit and managed to get out a thanks. "I don't think you'd care about him if he was nothing more than a vicious beast, though. He has to have some good in him too." MoonRazor "I don't suppose we'll be able to find out who's louder..." Dekko said disappointedly. He peered over at Sheva. "She gets mad at me all the time. Just not enough to give me the silent treatment. Hope she never will." He shuddered at the thought.
"Well, of course I do!" Sheva said with a chuckle. "It's the guys who aren't fond of females." She rolled her eyes. "Hm... well, I suppose so. He's good-looking, for one. And really, we were together before he was a werewolf. He was a good wolf... Curse the man who made him a lycan." Amyla Edana "Probably not. We could try to scare the living daylights out of them, but I'd like to keep all of my anatomical parts, thank you," Aiodhan said, giving his head an emphatic nod. He would not put it past Amyla to give him a swift kick for giving her a near-heart attack. "Yeah... silent treatment is to be avoided at all costs."
"Oh, I see. Well, if I were you, I'd just tell them to shove it and adopt a female child or two so that the numbers were a bit more even. But I'm just difficult that way," Amyla laughed, trying to imagine herself in a house full of males. Nope, that wouldn't be pretty. "Who made him into a lycan?" she asked, curious and a bit concerned. MoonRazor "I'm like you, man. I feel compelled to live the rest of my life with both my wings in the right place." He agreed, looking down at Sheva, who, despite being so much smaller than him, was actually probably a much fiercer fighter.
"If they'd listen, I would." Sheva answered with a grin. But really, it was her own self-confidence that had flagged when two of her pups had been taken by hunters. She'd not planned on having children again after that. "Oh, well... I don't know, really. I wasn't there. But I know for a fact it was this man who stuck him in a faulty machine. Now he's just a giant wolf who can walk and run on two." Amyla Edana "Wings and tail!" Aiodhan said emphatically, waving around his spade-tipped tail. He eyed Amyla, knowing full well how dangerous she could be.
"Ahhh. Well, you could just adopt a child and let them whine until they get over it. That's how I got Aiodhan to agree to Kayce," Amyla chuckled. She frowned a bit, then, wondering perhaps how and why a person would turn an animal into a lycan. "That doesn't sound like a very courteous thing for him to do, changing him into a lycan like that. I wonder if there might be some way to reverse it, or do you like him better the way he is?" MoonRazor "Oh, definitely, tail." He nodded. And perhaps that was the bad thing about his tail. The long hairs were easy to be pulled out.
"Well, let's just say the guys aren't the only problem." Sheva said with the smallest of smiles. She shook her head. "Oh, he was a much better wolf. You'd think his brain would've gotten bigger when his body grew, but I don't think it did. He's quite stupid as a werewolf." Sheva sighed. Amyla Edana Aiodhan nodded and then fell silent for a moment, glancing back and forth between Sheva and Dekko. "So... how did you meet her and the werewolf?" he asked curiously.
Amyla raised an eyebrow. "Oh?" she asked, wondering if the she-wolf wanted to elaborate. "Well, just because someone grows doesn't mean their intelligence grows with them," she said with a meaningful sidelong glance in Aiodhan's direction. "That is a shame, though, that it happened to him. Is there any way to reverse it, or maybe to help his brain catch up?" MoonRazor "Well, seeing as pegasi live much longer than the average wolf, I knew Sheva's mother as a youngling. Fine creature. Wonderful mother. She had two pups, Sheva and another female. The two were weaned and halfway to adulthood when their cave came under attack bya pack of rogue males. Sheva's mother managed to escape with her sister, and she didn't get the chance to go back for Sheva, so I took her in. It was just as well that she'd nearly learned how to hunt." Dekko said, nodding, thinking back to that fateful day when he'd flown to the cave to visit Sheva and her family, and the place was overwhelming with the scent of male wolves. Then he'd found the white pup in the hollow of an old oak, and had brought her home with him. "Who knew she'd grow up to be so sassy..." He chuckled. "Anyway, she met Karyon (the werewolf) when she'd grown, and he was still a wolf back then. They had a litter of four a few years back, but two were stillborn and the others were taken by hunters at barely a month of age. After that, she almost swore off having pups anymore."
"Well, there was this thing with a litter of puppies I had a few years back..." She said vaguely. "I guess I see what you mean, but you'd think that brain would grow just to fill the empty space up there." She said with a short laugh. "If there was a way to do either, we'd need the help of whoever turned him into a werewolf. That man wouldn't do that for us. And besides, I don't think we'd be able to get the information anyway." Amyla Edana "But sassy is good!" Aiodhan had to interject. It was true. He liked Amyla's sassiness. Not always, of course, but it was usually quite... refreshing. He did have the good grace to cringe as he heard of Sheva's lost pups, his wings and shoulders drooping noticeably. "Oiiii... Amyla and I know that feeling. She must have had upward of a dozen miscarraiges before we finally managed to have Caleb. Still, to have them liveborn and taken... can't say that I blame her for not wanting to risk it again." He eyed Caleb where the infant boy was resting on Amyla's hip, chewing on the ends of her hair. "But it is worth the risk, I think."
Amyla was no mind-reader, but from what she read in Sheva's tone and the vague bits she picked up from Aiodhan and Dekko's conversation, she came to the logical deduction that the litter of puppies did not survive. She sympathized. Deeply. But if Sheva would rather not talk about it, then she would leave it for now. No sense poking into raw wounds; not at a first meeting, anyway. "I don't think it's the brain growing so much as evolving. Maybe it just needs an extra boost of hormones or something," she suggested. She was a doctor, after all, though psychology wasn't her specialty. "I have medical knowledge enough that I wish I could help, though complex machines and magic and elaborate formulas are a bit beyond my realm of expertise. Are you sure there's nowhere else to get information from?" MoonRazor "I suppose sassy can be good." Dekko said with a smile, looking over at the white wolf. "But it's hard for me to even imagine what she went through. See for us, foals learn how to walk within the first half hour, and flight comes shortly after that. So we're pretty much always safe, and, if you don't mind me saying, fleetfooted. I've never heard of a pegasus foal being taken away or killed."
"Fairly sure. Kar's the only one who knows the slightest information, and that we need, at least, to start in our search. But with him not being able to talk... And plus, it happened only a few days after the... er, incident with the pups. And maybe the grief was also part of it." Amyla Edana "Definitely. Especially when... err... never mind." Whoops. He really needed to think before he spoke at times. Really, he did. "Well, no offense, but you are prey. Natural instincts say that you have to be able to walk or fly away soon, or you'll get eaten. Wolves are predators. They can take as long as they like to grow with much less fear of being eaten," Aiodhan mused thoughtfully.
"A telepath could maybe pick the information out of his head, though I don't know if you'd really want someone messing about in his mind," Amyla suggested, though it was a farfetched solution at best. She shifted Caleb's weight on her hip, wincing a bit when the boy gave her ear a tentative nibble. "What happened to them... your pups?" she asked, giving the she-wolf a compassionate look. MoonRazor "Well, definitely." The happy-go-lucky nodded, not seeming to notice his hesitation. He never quite took anything to heart, and besides that, he heard what he wanted to hear, and always seemed to miss hearing what he didn't. "But since there are hunters around now, they're born with a natural fear for humans. Although why just humans, I don't quite understand..."
"A telepath..." SHe mused. "But yea, I mean if it didn't work and it had some sort of damage..." She shook her head slightly to herself. "Oh, well..." She looked up. "Two of them were stillborn and the other two were taken by hunters." Amyla Edana Aiodhan didn't even have to ponder on Dekko's last musing. "Humans are among the most destructive of creatures. Ironically, they are among the most constructive as well, but they balance themselves out. Some humans really enjoy others' destructions," he replied. It seemed odd for him to be speaking about half his heritage in such a negative manner, but the dragon in him had made him a bit wiser (not to mention more mature).
"It was a thought. Not a good one, but a thought..." Amyla sighed. She hated difficult problems like these. It made her feel awful when she couldn't help. "I'm very sorry... to hear about your pups," she said softly.
Caleb cooed at the female wolf and extended a chubby hand in her direction. "Uhhheeee?" MoonRazor "Surprised to hear you saying that." Dekko said with a smile. "You're still at least half a human, aren't you?"
"Well, what's gone's gone, I guess." Sheva said with a slight smile. She hardly ever dwelled on the past, and to her, the pups were a bygone thing in her life that was not enough to bring her down. MoonRazor "Yea? How so?" Dekko asked curiously. He had to admit, he'd never quite met anyone half human who had ever really given much thought about the nature of humanity.
"I suppose you're right." Sheva said. "In the end, no matter what happens, it'll still teach you something. And it'll still all be worth it." Amyla Edana "Ahhh.... about seven years of ... I guess you could call it self-imposed isolation. You get a lot of thinking time," Aiodhan said with a shrug. He did have plenty of time to ponder on it, and he came to some very frightening conclusions.
"Definitely worth it," Amyla said, watching Caleb gnaw on his teething ring. The little bugger had nearly chewed through another one of those. They needed to find him something new to chew on. MoonRazor "Self-imposed, eh?" Dekko smiled. "Well, I've yet to meet any more of my kin." He said with a shrug. "But at least being a lone Peg doesn't give me too much thinkin' time, especially not with Sheva around."
Sheva grinned, watching Caleb chewing on his teething ring. "I don't know about humans, but wolves in my pack, we used to live not too far from an abandoned salt quarry. There's still tons of salt in there, and the wolves used to bring back huge chunks of salt licks for the pups. It's great for the teething and all, and it's not as salty as the refined salt they sell." She said, thinking back to her puphood days, when she and her fellow pups had all fought to clamber atop the hard salt block, gnawing at it to gradually wear it down. Amyla Edana "Lucky you. Thinking is depressing and tends to give me a serious headache." Aiodhan sighed and then looked thoughtful for a moment. "You've never met another pegasus?"
Amyla chuckled softly and ruffled Caleb's already-tousled hair. "Natural salt licks? That might be an idea. Thank you! I'll have to try it," she said, watching the boy gnaw away. MoonRazor Dekko shrugged. "Well, you know us, far and few in between. Except for my mother, I've never seen another Pegasus. Not that I've taken much time to look, but still."
"Yea, but I don't know where you'd find unsalty salt nowadays." Sheva said with a laugh. Amyla Edana "Huh. That's odd. We've got some sort of feathery winged thing that likes to roam the property. She and her partners in mischief take refuge in our stable when the weather gets bad," Aiodhan mused, more rambling than anything else.
"That's true. In our society, everything has to be processed and as full of flavor as possible," Amyla sighed, making a face. "It would probably be better for him than these things, though. He just gnaws right through every kind of teething ring we find." MoonRazor "Huh... Is she white?" He asked. Not that it really mattered. From what he knew, a Pegasus could be an shade of the color spectrum, as long as it was a solid color. Like him. He was exceptionally proud of his black muzzle, of course. Not many had a different colored muzzle like his.Sheva smiled. "He doesn't chew furniture?" She asked. "Or wires." Amyla Edana "Uhhh, no. She's like... beige and pink. She might not be an actual pegasus, but she looks like you, though perhaps a bit more feminine. Very sweet, but quite forgetful. Took a blow to the head awhile back," Aiodhan mused, grinning a bit. Yes, Miette was an interesting creature.
Amyla shook her head. "No, he really doesn't. Then again, we've always provided him with things to chew on, and with the amount of people and creatures in our house, I don't think he is ever bored enough to chew on either of them." MoonRazor "Oh. Well, some Pegasi are known to be a bit spacey." Dekko said with a grin. "But if she took a blow to the head, then I'm gonna go with ouch for now." He said, drfiting off enough to still hear everything that was going on, but was really imagining what it would be like to be a forgetful creature.
"Well, at least that's good." Sheva said, grinning at what Amyla had said. Big families sure were fun. Amyla Edana "Oh, this wasn't a natural state for her. She fell and and hit her head on a rock and now has some short-term memory loss problems," Aiodhan chuckled, watching Dekko as the Pegasus seemed to wander away in mind. "She still is quite sweet-natured."
"It is, and it isn't. We're definitely spoiling him with all of the attention, but I think we've spoiled all of the kids that way. With the exception of Kayce, of course, who doesn't want attention..." Amyla trailed off, glancing at the tree Kayce had disappeared up into. Speaking of Kayce, where was the girl?! MoonRazor "Ah, I wouldn't be surprised..." Dekko said with a smile. All Pegasi were sweet-natured. Or perhaps that was himself, idolizing his breed over all in his mind.
Sheva shrugged, smiling. "Well, there's two sides to everything." She said with a nod, her gaze following Amyla's at the mention of Kayce. "Say... where is she?" She wondered, voicing aloud the thought that was most probably the same one as Amyla's at the moment. Amyla Edana "You should come over and meet her sometime. I think you'd like her," Aiodhan remarked, tail swishing back and forth behind him. Then he noticed the searching look on Amyla's face and blinked in confusion. "Who's she looking for?" he muttered.
Amyla gave Sheva a bemused look. "Really, I'm not sure. She climbed that tree before," the woman said, nodding her head at the one tree among many. "But I don't see her up there, and she hasn't climbed down yet." Turning, she glanced among the trees for sign of her fae daughter. MoonRazor "I really should." Dekko bobbed his head in agreement. His eyes fowllowed Aoidhan's look over to Amyla and Sheva, tilting his head. "Huh..." He took a quick scan. "If I'm not mistaken, your daughter Kayce."
"I'm sure she's fine." Sheva said with a reassuring grin. It was just a park after all, and kids got into all sorts of trouble. It was a wonder, really, that they managed to live to adulthood. Amyla Edana "You're welcome to. I'm sure every male being on the property would be nice to see the levels of male hormones increase. Too many females about," he said, pulling a face. At the mention of Kayce, he simply shrugged. "Ahhhh, Kayce is fine. She can climb and knows self-defense."
"I know she is. I'm a mother, though, so I still have to worry," Amyla sighed. She turned her attention to Caleb, lightly tapping a finger on the boy's nose. "Where's your sister, Caleb?" Where's Kayce?"
The infant boy chortled happily, kicking his feet and tipping his head back to look straight upward. "Aaays! Aays!" he giggled, apparently looking for his sister as well. MoonRazor Dekko chuckled. "Are things really that bad?" He shook his head with a laugh, thinking of his own living situation. "I'm sure Sheva would disagree with you in regards to our living space. Too much testosterone around, that's what she thinks." He rolled his eyes. Looking over at Sheva and Amyla, he shrugged. "It appears Amyla is rather worried." He said after a moment's study at her face.
"Well, I know what you mean." Sheva agreed. It was natural to feel worried, even when it was obvious that the worry would be resented later on by the child. She smiled at Calebs antics. "Well, he sure is cute." Amyla Edana "Yeah. Me and Caleb are really the only two males, besides Ezhno, who spends most of his time out hunting. And the only other males are mostly feral creatures who stick around the house for shelter or protection. It's rather female-filled around our place," Aiodhan said with a sigh. He gave Dekko a jealous look. "Lucky you. I'm drowning in estrogen-"
Whatever he was about to say was ended in a startled yelp as something dropped out of a tree above him. Shocked beyond all reason, the dragon-man very nearly launched himself into the air, his wings opening and closing behind him. "Kayce! Don't do that!" he managed to get out as the fae girl gave him her customary blank expression.
"Cute and stubborn," Amyla said with a sigh, looking rather relieved when Kayce made her unannounced appearance. "There you are! I was wondering where you had disappeared to!"
Cooing happily, Caleb reached out his arms in his sister's direction. "Aaaays! Aaaaays!" MoonRazor "I do have it easier than some." Dekko grinned. He almost shied away as there was a yelp and Kayce fell from the tree nearby. "Huh, you'd think she'd be more considerate about fallin' out of trees like that and scaring everybody." He said with good humor. Somehow, he'd never quite expected Kayce to be the type to fall out of trees.
Sheva started at Kayce's falling, but did little else, standing by with a smile. Ah, young creatures. Amyla Edana Having landed upright and safely on both feet, Kayce was unharmed and unruffled by her father's response. She gave Aiodhan and Dekko a polite inclination of her head and then headed in her mother's direction.
"Yeah, I think you do..." Aiodhan managed after a moment, tail whipping about agitatedly behind him. When he got home, he was going to strangle that fae for scaring him!! GAAAH! "Nah, Kayce really isn't one for consideration. She has the attitude of a cat. She does what she does, and if you don't like it, then that sucks for you. Really, she isn't a bad kid at all. She just.... doesn't care."
Amyla gave Kayce a look, which the fae promptly ignored. When the girl held out her arms to hold Caleb, her mother simply sighed and set the infant in her arms, rewarded by the immediate smiles from both kids. "I think I'm almost ready for another practical child. My oldest two spoiled me," she said rather glumly to Sheva. MoonRazor Dekko chuckled. "Well, I'm sure she'll grow up fine."
Sheva laughed. "Eh, all's good. At least she helps out, right? Cause if she didn't, I'm sure you'd be carrying Caleb all day." Amyla Edana "I sure hope so," Aiodhan said with a massive sigh. "The moment of truth is quickly approaching."
Amyla nodded, watching Kayce tickle Caleb's nose. "Yes, she does. I don't mind carrying Caleb at all, really, but it is nice to see that she care about something or someone. " MoonRazor ((I think maybe we should end the RP for the while? -saw teh babehs- Oh, gawd, I think I could just die from their cuteness! xD We should get the kids together for a playday xD))
"Ah, they always do. Unless they turn suicidal, but even then it can be turned around." Dekko said, smiling at Aoidhan's sigh.
Sheva smiled. "Oh, I'm sure it is." She said with a nod. She looked up. A dark cloud had passed over the moon, and something in that moment made her feel... She didn't know. But it wasn't a great feeling. She looked uneasily at the stars. She had always told the time by looking at the heavens. And by looking up, she could see what was written in the future. "Looks like rain..." She muttered with a shake of her head. "I suppose that means we'll have to get going. It was great meeting you Amyla. Mayhaps one day, we might get together again?"
Dekko seemed to sense something. He looked over at Sheva grimly. "Looks like she wants to leave. And... rain?" He chanced a peek up. The moon had almost been covered by a thick black cloud. "Well, Aiodhan, it was great chattin' with you. And maybe we can have an outing or something soon? We could bring Kar along too." He said with a wink, remembering the look on Aiodhan's face when they had talked about werewolves. Amyla Edana ((Mmkay! heart --just saw the babies tooo-- Eeeeeesocute! Definite playdate sometime!!)) "Thanks, Dekko. Just what I needed to hear," Aiodhan drawled, giving an exaggerated roll of his eyes.
Amyla watched Sheva look up. The she-wolf looked... uneasy to Amyla's eyes. Worried, perhaps, about her mate? "Rain, huh? I think we'd better get home too. It was wonderful to meet you too, Sheva, and... wait..." she trailed off, digging through her bag until she found a pen and scrap of paper. Scribbling something down on it, she added, "For a future get together, here's our address and phone number. I'd love to get together again, and if you ever need female company, call me. Our house has plenty." She finished writing and held it out to Sheva.
"I think Amyla's about ready to head home too. Probably tired," Aiodhan said. He perked up considerably. "An outing sounds wonderful. Please, do bring Kar. He sounds interesting!" the dragon-man said all-too cheerfully.MoonRazor Sheva grinned, taking the paper. "Thanks, I'll keep it in mind." She said with a grin.
"Here she comes." Dekko said as the white she-wolf turned toward him. "I'll remember to." He agreed with a nod. "But I'd wear extra padding if I were you!"
And that was that.

Well, I think the family handled it well.
Not!
Everybody old enough to understand executed a display of extreme dislike. Erin started wailing that she didn't want another baby, Kayce sulked for hours, Kari threw a fit, and Nieva looked quite pained. And even Aiodhan blew up at the idea at first.
Well, it's happening, and there isn't a damn thing anybody can do about it. So there! Aiodhan finally settled down to the idea and kinda liked it. I think he is starting to like having kids around. He came home from work today and spent an hour playing with Erin, something he normally would never dream of doing. Surprisingly, Erin even wanted to play with him. She like to play alone or torture Kayce or Kari. This marks a change for her.
Everyone is changing, for that matter! I'm changing! That baby weight is coming back. I'm not showing, not yet, and I haven't stepped on the scale to see if I've gained weight. But I know I am. I can feel it in the way my pants fit. I was just starting to like being thin too. Ah well. This child will be well worth it.
I'm going to head for the kitchen now. I smell something cooking, and while it smells good, I don't trust Aiodhan alone at the stove yet, not with his firebreathing talents.

Ahhh... peace. It's so quiet in the house. I say that, and I know in just a few minutes' time, this house is going to explode all over again. It always does. I love living here. Anyway, down to business. Now that we've managed to agree that we are going to have another kid, it means we need to keep an accurate journal of when things happened, what happened, why it happened, blah blah blah. We have one of these for just about every kid in this house. Well, Nieva write in her own, as does Kayce, as does Kari. So... I guess it's just Erin, Caleb, and baby-to-be that we have to record for now. Joy. Well, I wanted writing practice. Here it is! Anyway, we chose a bluejay soul and green emerald essence. Now, what the hell that means is totally beyond me, but that's okay. We're going to make a clinic visit in the next week or so and get all of this crap figured out, which is good because I hate being confused for long. Irritates me to no end. Before I go crazy from Erin kicking my tail, I think I'll stop writing. I'll do more journalling (or whatever the hell that word is) later. Aiodhan

[First Clinic Visit] Amyla Edana "Are you sure this is the right place?"
Amyla snorted her displeasure and glanced back over her shoulder at Aiodhan, giving him a look that clearly stated how unhappy she was with him. "Yes, I'm sure! Unlike you, I am not completely directionally challenged and know which way I'm going," she said tartly in reply, pulling open the clinic door and stalking inside.
Ahhh... I'd nearly forgotten how lovely and sweet she is when she is full of hormones. I'm going to die. Aiodhan thought rather glumly as he followed her inside, barely having time to yank his long tail in before the door shut. Ow, that would have hurt. "So... what now?"
His mate looked ready to murder him on the spot, so he stayed a few paces back as she made her way toward what looked like a receptionist's desk, hoping and praying she wasn't too mad at him. Skysong Keitra Julian looks up from the desk, reading glasses falling off his nose and his silvery hair falling into his face. He fixes both and smiles at the two, noting the females obvious temper. "Hello. How can I help you two?" Amyla Edana After feeling quite sure that Aiodhan was not going to pipe up with anymore unnecessary comments (when had she gotten so crabby??), Amyla gave the man a polite, if somewhat strained, smile. "I believe we have an appointment, though I'm not entirely sure if I got the time correct. I'm Amyla Raikes. This is my mate, Aiodhan. And... Aiodhan!" she said in exasperation.
The dragon-man looked up from the brochure which he had been folding into an origami crane. "What?!" he asked innocently. Skysong Keitra Julian raises an eyebrow, his eyes dancing. He turns to the computer beside him and types something in. "Ah, yes. You do have an appointmant, and your actually right on time." he smiles up at her, picking up a clipboard and stepping around the desk, head wings flicking slightly. "If you'll follow me please." Amyla Edana Right on time. That pleased Amyla to no end, and she gave the man a more friendly smile this time as she followed along. Finally... something going right.
Aiodhan, sensing the change in mood, trailed along behind her, still folding the brochure, or attempting to fold it, at least. Much as he felt the staff could be trusted, there was just no way he was letting her out of his sight. He was too cautious for that. Skysong Keitra Julian steps beside an empty exam room, still smiling, but more as he felt the change in the Amylas' mood. "Go ahead and have a seat up on the bed in the corner please Mrs. Amyla." Amyla Edana Amyla nodded an affirmative and strolled over to the bed, Aiodhan right on her heels. She got up onto it with little to no difficulty, raising an eyebrow at Aiodhan's artwork. "Please don't tell me where you learned it."
Aiodhan gave Julian a grin of thanks and kept right on folding. "Of course I won't, angel. That'd be telling, now wouldn't it?" Skysong Keitra The youth nods at Aiodhan, pushing his glasses up again as he sets the clipboard down on a desk near the bed. "Alrighty then, I'll need to do a quick regular check up to see how you yourself are doing." Amyla Edana Amyla nodded. She had been expecting that. She had been through enough of the blasted things when she was pregnant with Caleb too, so it wasn't as though this was a new esperience. "All right. I'll warn you that I am ticklish."
"Very," Aiodhan added cheerfully, earning himself another glare. Skysong Keitra Julian laughs softly, "I'll try not to tickle you too much." he picks up his stethascope and walks over to Amyla. Amyla Edana "You don't have to try to tickle her," Aiodhan chuckled, watching the way Amyla gave the stethescope a mournful look. "Come on, now, May. You don't really want to go back to 80-hour workweeks, do you?"
"No, but I do miss the time in the ER," Amyla sighed, just wishing it would be over. Skysong Keitra Julian raises an eyebrow curiously, placing the stethascope on her back and asking her to breathe in. "You worked in the ER?" He was trying to be a nice doctor (even if he was still in school and almost done) by making small talk and gaining the trust of the couple. Amyla Edana Amyla obediently took a deep breath in and then exhaled slowly. She was a professional at being examined. "Yes, and I still do. I just don't work as many hours since I have three kids, one of them being an infant, to take care of. Not to mention this one," she said, giving her abdomen a glance.
"And she gets tired much more quickly. You're gettin' old, May," Aiodhan said with an affectionate wink in her direction. "How long have you worked here?" he asked Julian curiously. Skysong Keitra Julian finishes up with checking her breathing, setting the stethascope down and picking up one of the good-for-pretty-much-checking-ears-eyes-mouth thingy *don't know the real name o.O;* He looks over at Aiodhan for a moment, "A couple of weeks, I'm still in school though. Almost have my doctorate. From what I've learned, I'm the second youngest to get it this early." he giggles, "Just like my uncle, Kilikana. He runs the Clinic himself. It's fun here, people I know and my grandpa too." Amyla Edana Amyla grinned. "Ahhh, the good old days in school," she chuckled, masking a yawn behind her hand. Whoops... maybe she shouldn't have let Aiodhan see that.
Doctorate? Well. Aiodhan was duly impressed, and his expression showed it. "Is most of the staff here your family?" he asked curiously. Skysong Keitra "Just my uncle and grandpa. A few of the others are good family friends. Izzi and Licenziare are a family, mother and son actually. Bell'un is a pretty good friend, the best secruity anyone can ask for." he chuckles and writes something down on the clipboard paper. "We also hired a new guy, hes' the phycharitrst(sp i know). He's also the one who brought some interesting vials with him, Licen and Izzi have been studying them for a few days now." Amyla Edana "It seems like all of the staff are fairly close, then," Aiodhan mused. That made him feel better.
Mmm... psychiatrists. Just the thought of one made Amyla cringe. Bad memories there. "Interesting vials? I'm guessing these weren't the average 'bluejay and emerald' sort?" she chuckled. She was glad they hadn't gotten an 'interesting' one. As if they needed a more interesting addition to the mix. Skysong Keitra "Just a little. From what I've gotten from an overly enthusiastic hybrid, they're a little cursed. He can't tell what's what though, but Eldron said that they're the souls of dashes of evil or something. Thought they've got monkey essesense." he shrugs. "Though the one I like is the silver arrow and monkey one. It'll be a beautiful child." He smiles at the two, "Well, you seem to be in great health. Do you have an idea how far along you are?" Amyla Edana Aiodhan shuddered. "Yeeees, let's throw evil monkey into the mix. I think not!" he snorted, unable to comprehend how well that would blend with their child's exisiting... oddities. "Silver arrow and monkey might not be bad, so long as it's not evil monkey," he mused.
"Regardless, I still think monkey wouldn't be wise. Not for us, anyway," Amyla put in. She already had one tree-climber. She didn't need another. "Ahhhh... how far along? Umm... Aiodhan? Little help?"
Ever a stereotypical male, the dragon-man pondered for a moment. "Oh, I don't know. Any odd number of days up to about 99 or so."
Amyla sighed. "Honestly, I'm not sure. I'm not showing yet, but I have started to put on a bit more weight. And the fatigue is coming back like it did with my other pregnancy." Skysong Keitra Julian laughs softly and thinks for a moment, "Hn. Well I could talk to one of our magicians to see what thier oppinion for the blending of the souls." he mumbles to himself, eyes thoughtful. He blinks after a moment, "Hn. Sorry. Thinking." Amyla Edana Aiodhan gave the young doctor a friendly wink. "No worries. I do that all of the time. Especially when she's talking to me," he said with a wicked grin, cringing at Amyla's glare. "Love you, May."
Amyla snorted. "Brownnoser," she said, pulling a face at the dragon-man. "Think all you want. Better to think first and do later." Skysong Keitra Julian laughs again, headwings flicking once more, causing his hair to fall into his face. He brushes it out of his face and nods, "Too very true Mrs. Amyla. If you want, I can have either of the magicians' come in and do a more detailed check up on how things are going in there, but that is if you don't mind a touch of magic. I'll get Licen if I have to. It's hard to tell if he's using magic, and his lies more in the soul area than Izzis'." Amyla Edana Never having been on the receiving end of magic, Amyla really wasn't sure what to say. It didn't bother her too much, other than that she would prefer to not have dark or shadow magic performed on or near her. "I don't mind a bit of magic, provided it's not anything of questionable nature," she replied. She gave Aiodhan a look of mixed exasperation and pride when he finished the last fold and stood the little crane up in his hand. Skysong Keitra The doctor smiles softly, "Of course not. I'll have Licenziare come in a little bit." he chuckles at Aiodhans' handywork, "That's pretty cool." he steps out of the room and heads off to find the other hybrid. Amyla Edana "Licenziare... now that's a mouthful," Aiodhan drawled after the young man left. He padded over closer to Amyla, wrapping a wing about her. "You're tired."
"You think?" Amyla asked rhetorically, punctuating her statement with a massive yawn. She was tired. And cranky. And really liking the fact that he was being uncharacteristically sweet at the moment. quote="Skysong Keitra"] A knock sounded on the door after a few moments.Amyla Edana "Come in!" Aiodhan said in an unusually high-pitched, and frighteningly feminine-sounding, voice. He was rewarded with a smack to the shoulder and an exasperated, "Aiodhaaaaaaaan!" from Amyla's direction. Nurse Faithful Licenziare steps into the room, a smile on his face. He giggles, "Nice imatation there Mr. Aiodhan. Sounded almost like her." he shuts the door behind him, tail flicking under his lab coat slightly. "Well, this will only take a moment. Though from now, I'll pretty much be in charge of your childs' health." he smiles sweetly. Amyla Edana Aiodhan looked very pleased with himself, despite Amyla's furious expression. "Thank you! I try!" he said with a mock-bow in the doctor's direction before he edged out of the way. No use being a nuisance, after all. He did begin to look about for another brochure to fold.
"I hope it's as painless as it is quick, then," Amyla replied, though she trusted the man. After all, no one was stupid enough to try to hurt her with Aiodhan within such close range. Okay, her in-laws had been that stupid, but it had only taken one experience to wisen them up. "So far, so good, though?" she asked hopefully. Nurse Faithful Licen nods, "It won't hurt a bit. In fact, you probably won't even be able to tell I'm even doing a spell." he giggles again, flicking an ear at Aiodhan curiously. "We'll just have to see for that last part Mrs. Amyla." he takes a few steps closer to her, now standing a few feet away. "Alrighty then." If one paid close attention to his eyes, they would notice them going from a bright green, to a golden color as he started the spell. After a moment, his eyes faded back to thier normal color and a wide smile spreads across his face. Amyla Edana The joys of magic. Amyla grinned. This was so much better than a practical physical. Those things were so invasive and uncomfortable, even if a skilled doctor was doing them. Having fingers poked and prodded and shoved at into various places was rarely pleasant. Since she was giving Aiodhan a look to insure he didn't take the doctor's notes to fold for his origami work, she didn't even realize the spell had begun until she glanced back at Licen and noticed the smile. "That's... it?" Nurse Faithful "Quite so. Told you it wouldn't take long and you wouldn't notice." he chuckles and flicks his tail again. "Well, everything seems fine in there, healthy as far as I can tell, and my word is solid as can be I assure you." Amyla Edana Amyla was amazed and very pleased, her mood improving yet again. Why didn't they have more doctors with such talent in magic? It was so much quicker and less painful! "I trust you. I don't think you'd be stupid enough to lie with him here," she chuckled, gesturing at Aiodhan with her chin. "He doesn't like liars."
Aiodhan, fussing with the wings on his origami crane, looked up. "What'd I miss?"
Shaking her head at her mate, Amyla smiled in Licen's direction. "Is there anything I should know about?" Nurse Faithful Licen chuckles, "I don't like liars either, so things should be smooth from here on out." he smiles happily, giving a soft shrug of the shoulders, "Just that the life in your tummy is healthy and forming wonderfly so far." Amyla Edana Aiodhan grinned. "Glad we can see eye to eye on that," he told Licen.
Amyla smiled broadly. "Thank you very much," she said, moving to stand up and giving Aiodhan a triumphant look. "See? I told you it was nothing to worry about!" Nurse Faithful The hybrid chuckles again, "Same here. I try my very best to be sincere with expecting parents and such." he smiles at Amyla, "Of course it was nothing to worry about, the two most powerful and youngest Master Magicians are at your service." he does a little bow, eyes dancing. Amyla Edana "Only the best," Amyla replied, duly impressed that they had found such a wonderful clinic. After so many runs of bad luck, to find two decent places in a row was heavenly.
"I was never worried... too much!" Aiodhan objected, wrapping a large wing about Amyla. "Just enough for me to be irritating." Nurse Faithful Licen laughs softly, standing straight. "Thank you. Well, in about a week or so, come back and I'll do the first main part of the vials and a more in depth check up. I hope you two come to find our clinic a great place. We try our best to be like family." Amyla Edana Amyla nodded, though she had to give an inward sigh. Yippee for more check-ups. She just couldn't escape the blasted things. "Back in a week. I won't forget. And even if I do, Dragon-boy will remind me."
"Dragon-man," Aiodhan corrected her.
Ignoring him, Amyla turned her smile to Licen. "I'm sure we'll like it here. We're both family people, right, Aiod?" she added, glancing at the dragon-man in time to see him nod in agreement. Nurse Faithful "Well, I hope things go perfectly well for you both. I'll do my very best to help you anyway possible." he smiles and nods, "See you in a week." Amyla Edana Thank you very much," Amyla managed to get out as she was dragged from the exam room, trying hard not to sigh as Aiodhan insisted upon leading the way out. Fussy dragon.

Baby Names "Do we have to start thinking about names now? We just got done thinking about names for Caleb! And Kayce!"
"Yes, we do. It is never too early to prepare, and you know very well I'll be too tired and cranky to do it later."
"No kidding..."
"I heard that!"
"Sorry. Did you have any ideas?"
"Well, I figured since I've named all of the girls and you picked out Caleb's name, you should pick out a name for a boy, and I'll pick out one for a girl. That way, we'll be prepared either way!"
"Oh no."
"Come on, Fuzz, it's not that bad. This way, you can be prepared if you have another healthy being with testosterone in the house."
"Wouldn't praying suffice?"
"Aiodhan, humor me?"
"Fiiiiiiine."
--long silence--
"Well?"
"I'm thinking, May! Don't rush me!"
"I'm sitting here waiting..."
"Then why don't you come up with some?"
"I'm already thinking about it! I want to hear what you like for a boy's name."
"All right, all right. Umm... Cedric?"
"Nice name, but we do have a lot of 'K' sounds, remember?"
"Oooh, yeah. Forgot about that. How about Gabriel? That's a cool name."
"It is a cool name. I kind of like it."
--scribbling sounds--
"Are you writing all of this down?"
"Of course I am! That way we'll remember them all in case we change our minds later and don't like the names we pick out."
"Organized as ever, May."
"Would you just keep thinking??"
"All right, all right... umm...Cian? No, no more 'k' sounds."
"Please, no more."
"Dageus! That's an awesome name!"
"It's a weird name."
"I happen to like it."
"Fine, fine. I'll write it down. Any others?"
"Draco. I like Draco."
"It sounds a bit snobbish, but then again, this would be your son we're talking about."
"Bite me, May."
"I'd rather not. You taste funny."
"Ha... ha... ha... so funny."
"I thought so. Any other thoughts?"
"Draco Aurelius."
"Please tell me you're joking."
"Nope. I like it."
"You're serious? Aiodhan, this really isn't funny."
"Really, I like it!"
"All right, I'll write it down."
--lots of scribbling sounds--
"I love you, May."
"Bite me- no, don't! Aiodhaaaaaaaan!"
"Sorry, May. You're just too tasty."
"Next time, leave my neck alone!"
"Sorry, angel."
--long silence--
"All right, now that that's done..."
"Wait a sec, May... you didn't come up with a girl name."
"Oh... right! I do need to do that!"
"Of ourse you do. You made me use my brain."
"You say that like it's such a chore."
"It is."
"Bi- no, nevermind! How about Caela? I like that name."
"'K' sound again?"
"Ahh, yes. Forgot that."
"Pregnancy really kills your brain cells, doesn't it?"
"It does."
"You're not going to smack me?"
"Nope. Takes too much energy. How about Miraya?"
"Jeeeez, that's a mouthful!"
"Coming from the man who would name his son Draco Aurelius?"
"Touche."
"All right... Delia? Tamara?"
"Ew, ew."
"Alexa? Sara? Christya?"
"What is it with you and names that end in 'a'?"
"They sound very feminine. I still like Caela. Or maybe Michelle. Or how about Nicolette?"
"Sounds like Nicorette."
"Aiodhan!!"
"Sorry."
"Shayla?"
"Ewwwww."
"Fine! Then I'm going to just quit trying for your approval and decide on something myself!"
"That's what I did too."
"Yes, but I wanted to be more comprimising! Forget it!"
"Am I being difficult, May?"
"Yes, and we're naming her Aryana Meline. Providing she is female, of course."
"Aryana Meline? Pretty enough, though still with the blasted 'a' ending."
"I like it."
--scribbling sounds--
"I can see that. Are we done now?"
"Well, maybe we should have back-up names in case we end up with same-sex twins or-"
"Geee, would you look at the time?! Caleb needs his afternoon meal!"

Well, we decided on names. It's a good thing we did since we went in for a check-up, and I've been feeling progressively more exhausted since. The weight is coming back, and I noticed yesterday that I have begun to show. It is exciting and frightening at the same time.
Anyway, I decided on Aryana Meline for a girl, and Aiodhan wants Draco Aurelius for a boy. Gorgeous names, both of them, but I'll never admit that to Aiodhan. 'Draco Aurelius'... it is a dignified and wonderful name, but where on Gaia did he come up with it?!
In any case, my energy levels are decreasing again. I have spent more time resting, and Kari and Nieva have responded by taking over a great deal of the housework. Nieva will often entertain Erin while Kari takes care of Caleb and watches out for Kayce. Kayce is learning how to cook, which both excites and frightens me. She seems to like it. She (with much aid from Kari) made spaghetti last night. All right, so the noodles were pre-made and just had to be cooked, and the sauce recipe is exceedingly easy, but she did it! That alone makes me happy.
I'm wondering what this child will be like. Tall and strong and male like Aiodhan? Short and semi-feminine like myself? I want a girl in the essence that I'd like a girl of our making... but at the same time, I would love a boy to even out the numbers in the house. Girl or boy, boy or girl... I can't decide! I know I'll be supremely happy with either, so long as he or she is a happy and healthy child. What more can a mother ask, really?

I'm worried now. I'm really, really worried. Amyla is getting more and more exhausted. She is sleeping longer, and it is harder for her to stir from bed in the mornings. It really frightens me. I know she was like this with Caleb, but it just seems worse this time around. I hope I'm overreacting and that it's just the normal pregnancy-fatigue thing. She isn't getting morning sickness, though, so that is good.
Since none of the kids will see this, I will add that she has gotten more affectionate now. Not that she isn't under normal circumstances; she spoils me, I think. But now she seems more willing to cuddle and pet. Maybe it's just that she's too tired to get up and go be productive. I don't know, but I do like this part of the whole ordeal.
Anyway, we have to go back for a check-up soon. I'm nervous. I hope everything is all right with her and the baby.

I feel fat. Again. I'm hoping this pregnancy is a tad shorter than Caleb's though. Caleb's lasted for what seemed like an eternity. I'm ready to be not-pregnant about now.
We did some rearranging in the house to accomodate for the new baby. We finally finished the basement, so Kari and Nieva are set up downstairs with one extra bedroom. They still don't know what color to paint the extra room, so it is a running family joke that we should put Erin in there with a container of paint. Everyone except Kayce finds that amusing.
Anyway, with those two downstairs, we have two open bedrooms up here. In the event that the baby is a boy, he will probably sleep in the same room as Caleb. I have a feeling they will be on similar sleeping schedules, so that is just fine.
As a side note to my unborn child, you are making me excessively fat. I did not get this fat with Caleb, so the cravings that you so kindly have given me have resulted in this. I am not pleased. Please find a way to reduce them so I don't keep eating chocolate! It's fattening, you know.
I'm out for now. I need rest. Perhaps more later.
~Amyla
P.S. I'm taking guardianship of another child too.

Tired Aiodhan wasn't entirely sure what it was that woke him. It might have been the fact that he was having a really, really weird dream and was purposely trying to wake himself up. It could also have been the mild pain caused by hitting his tail on the footboard of the bed. Or it would have been the way Amyla stiffened beneath his arm in her sleep, hissing quietly as her womb executed a painful contraction.
Whatever it had been, it woke him up in an instant, and he sat up halfway, propped up on one elbow, the other arm still curled around Amyla's abdomen. "May? May, what's wrong?" he asked anxiously, feeling the tension in her body and seeing the contorted expression on her face.
She let out a puffing exhale, giving him a scathing glare that he could see even in the semi-dark of early morning.
"Ahhh... yes. Those." False contractions. She had had them before, with Caleb, and they seemed to be starting up this time around again. Hunh. Well, Aiodhan knew how to help those along. He moved his hand to rest on the side of her belly but was surprised to hear her protest.
"Don't touch me!"
He pulled his hand away, startled at her vehemence. After a moment, her body relaxed, and her arms came away from her swollen abdomen. Then he ventured closer, and she let him gently rub at her back and belly. "May, what-"
"Nothing. I'm sorry I snapped but it... hurt like hell," Amyla whispered back, and Aiodhan felt a twinge of guilt at the exhaustion he heard in her voice. Even in this darkness, he could see the shadows beneath her eyes, and he could feel her weariness as though it were palpable.
He sighed and stroked her gently. "May, you're exhausted. I can see it; I can feel it. We need to get you back to the clinic for a check-up. You shouldn't be this tired."
"I'm fine! I just need rest!" she snapped back, and she didn't seem inclined to apologize for it either.
"You've had rest, and it's not working! You're on maternity leave, but you're still getting less and less sleep every day, not to mention whatever sleep you do get can't be all that great!" he exclaimed, increasing his caresses to firm rubs.
She made a miffed sounding noise and didn't respond for awhile. Then after a moment, he felt her shoulder shaking.
"May?" he queried gently, easing himself back down beside her.
She responded by slowly rolling over onto her opposite side to face him, and he could see the tears on her face. "I'm sorry, Aiod. I'm just a mess. I'm tired, and the baby keeps kicking, and I'm so excited about them being here. But I'm so exhausted that I just want to rest. Not get up for hours. And I can't!" she said tearfully, and he responded by scooting in close to hold her, ignoring her firm belly that poked into him.
"I don't see any reason why you can't stay in bed today. I mean... heck, it's a beautiful day. If you'd rather, you can move out onto the porch swing out back to watch the kids play. I can handle Caleb and Erin, and the other three are fine alone," Aiodhan pointed out, gently pressing kisses to her neck and face, please when she relaxed a bit and responded in kind. "You go back to sleep for a few hours. We've still got time before the kids wake up."
Amyla smiled faintly. "Yeah... think I..."
She didn't get to finish her sentence, but Aiodhan knew what she meant. He always knew.

A Loving Letter to my Unborn Child (though you won't read this for years)
I'm sure that where you are right now, you are very warm and comfortable. You probably enjoy the music I listen to and all of the good food I eat. I would like to respectfully request that you not have any more serious chocolate cravings. I don't need to put on this much weight, thank you. Once you are born and have grown a little, then you can have your own chocolate and not be adding the pounds to my hips.
I would also like you to know that your father absolutely dotes on both you and me. Most of the massages he gives me you seem to get a kick out of as well, pun fully intended since you kick through most of them. I understand that you are thrilled; the massages feel most excellent. However, could you maybe kick something besides my diaphragm or bladder? Those two can cause serious discomfort when kicked.
Oh, and your father says to thank you for the nice set of maternal curves you've given me. I got nice and curvy with Caleb, apparently, but you seemed to have provoked a more noticeable change, and your father thanks you for it. I can't say that I mind, though I'd rather not gain the weight to go along with it.
I think that's all for now. I hope you're comfortable, even though I'm certainly not. Please do consider being born soon. My ankles hurt, and my back aches constantly. I promise that the world isn't that bad.

[Check-up Visit--- Unfinished] Amyla Edana "May, have I ever told you that you look gorgeous in blue?"
Amyla snorted in response as she half-walked and half-waddled her way toward the clinic. She felt like a slug. A big, fat slug.... with hair. And eyes. And a very, very short temper. "Aiodhan, have I ever told you that you fuss too much?" she asked wearily, rolling her eyes even though she knew he couldn't see her.
The dragon-man huffed and held the clinic front door open for her to walk in. "I'm just being concerned! I mean... come on! Can't a guy be worried??" he asked with a certain note of whining in his voice.
Sighing a bit, she looked skyward and ever so slightly shook her head. This was frustrating. "Yes, you can. I'd just prefer not to know about it," she muttered. Nurse Faithful Seakin looked up from the desk curiously, smiling as the couple comes closer. He, as usual of late, had a pocky stick in his mouth, the box sitting nearby within easy reach. "Hello you two." he says cheerfully. Amyla Edana "Hello! She has a check-up visit for umm.... well," Aiodhan replied, pointing at Amyla's noticeably swollen abdomen as the two of them approached the desk. "Aiodhan Layden. And this is Amyla. Don't recognize you from before!"
Utterly shocked that Aiodhan was being friendly to an unfamiliar living thing, Amyla simply stood staring at her mate for a moment. Where had that friendliness come from?! Ah well. She supposed she shouldn't complain. At least he wasn't an arrogant p***k anymore. Nurse Faithful "You haven't met me yet. Though my grandson, Julian, told me all about you two." he chuckles softly, nodding at Aiodhan. "Julian'll be out in a second. He got here just in time." Amyla Edana Aiodhan grinned. Yes, he remembered Julian. "I'm sure everything he said was good," Aiodhan said with a quiet cackle on the end. He snuck an arm around Amyla's waist and pulled her closer.
Still utterly bemused by Aiodhan's unusually social mood, Amyla managed a smile and a nod. Something was not right with the dragon-man. What, she did not know. Nurse Faithful "Oh, it was nonstop goodness." he chuckles again, talking around the pocky with practice. Julian steps out of the back room, tying back his hair into a braid, the silvery strands glittering in the lights a little. "Sorry I'm a bit late. Traffics a pain." Amyla Edana Aiodhan laughed. Of course it was. How could any talk about them be not-good? He did eye the pocky stick with some curiosity, though. What the heck was it? It looked strange.
Amyla smiled in Julian's direction. "Hello, Doctor. I think we just missed the traffic on our way in. Which is definitely good, considering I hate sitting in a car in this condition," she chuckled, not joking in the least. Pregnancy plus a cramped car in traffic equaled a very disgruntled Amyla. Nurse Faithful Julian giggles, "If I had back wings like my brothers; I'd fly here. Much faster and from what I've heard, very fun." he smiles, picking up the file and placing a quick kiss on Seakins' cheek, getting a small chuckle from the man for the action. He stands back up, shifts the file, and grins at the couple. "Well, lets get this check up on the roll why don't we?" he giggles again and starts heading down a hallway to the left, glancing behind to make sure they were following. Amyla Edana "It is much faster, but I couldn't convince her to let me fly her here. It made her nervous," Aiodhan said sadly, rustling his own wings and then grunting as Amyla put an elbow into his ribs. "Owww...."
"Yes, please! Let's!" Amyla said fervently, immediately moving from Aiodhan's grasp to waddle down the hallway after Julian, Aiodhan trailing behind her with a backward wave at Seakin. Nurse Faithful Julian giggles and steps up beside an open room. "You can sit anywhere this time. It'll be easier for you though if you just grab a chair." he nods softly, grinning at the two. Boy they were a cute couple.
