"Fine, have it your way." He said rolling his eyes, "sleep where you want, just don't get eaten, alright?" He said, watching the strange dog. "Not hunt? Well then you can let me hunt for you until you decide to do it yourself, I can't manage you forever." He said sternly.
"Trust me, you will hunt eventually, its natures way. Things die, other things live, and the things that live will die eventually and feed other things that shall live on again, thats the way it works." He said with a nod.

"Alright", Kelello accepted, thanks twinkling in her admiring green eyes.
She ignored his further speech, leaning over to lick at a scarred ankle. She would never understand why anyone would kill prey.
"Couldn't you just eat grass, like a Klipspringer?", Kelello muttered quietly, suddenly hoping that the young hyena had not heard. The whole 'circle of life, food chain' thing confused the young puppy.

Yakuti shook his head, he had heard the wild dog, "Not really, our bodies are different from theirs, see these teeth?" He asked, flashing his sharp canines at her, "They are made for meat, things that eat grass have teeth for grass, trust me, thats just how it works."
If that explination did not convince the puppy, maybe this would, "Plus, you see any grass around here?" He asked, looking at the barren wasteland around him, "Its much easier to find little prey animals than grass around these parts."

( Sorry. I had a sudden burst of inspiration to write, and made a big post. xD;; )
Kelello gave a dismissive grunt, still unable to fathom the idea of devouring a friend, but remained silent.
She licked more vigerously at her injury; her tongue running quickly over a healing gash that ran like a bolt of lightning across her ankle.
Kelello paused, with eyes that began to grow with disturbance and shock as a thought raced through her mind. Had I been prey?, she thought, staring in disbelief at her scar. The puppy was, just as well, unable to tell that she had several other scars across her ears and forehead. But where did they come from?
Kelello's questioning eyes slowly met Yakuti's. She wanted to ask if wild dogs were prey. Although she was unable to tell whether she was a wild dog or a hyena, at that.
She dismissed the thought with a flick of her tail, and let her eyes wander to the scattered bones that lined the horizon of the graveyard beyond Yakuti's frame.

"I'd leave it for now if I were you." He said, indicating her injury, "Let it heal, its better that way, trust me."
"Anyway, its getting rather late, we ought to be getting some rest." He said, "Follow me, you can stay with me, but you seem intent on not being inside. So you can just stay wherever." He said with a shrug, walking to his not too far off den and slinking inside without another word.
