There won't be a second season and they never planned for it eighter.

The series wasn't even supposed to be turned into an anime, it was only done as a PR stunt to keep peoples interest up in the series while Takaya Sensei was recovering from her wrist operation and wasn't able to draw.

That is why the series is so innacurate from the manga, they needed to make a proper ending, (even if it was way to fluffy for Fruits basket.)
But seeing it from that point of view I can accept that ending. mrgreen

I am Married to Momiji!! he's so kawaii!! But I really do wish they'd remake the anime..but that would be alota work..Maybe, just maybe, they'd redo it and say, this is the 'second ending of choice' when sensei is done writing the 22nd book...I wish!! crying

Apparently, they made the manga, cuz Takaya broke her left hand and couldn't write for a while (read side excerpts from volume 7). So, keep your fingers crossed, their may be a chance. Even if they said 'no', there is always hope (clearly i am a fb fanatic). heart

I really enjoyed the part when Ayame came in wearing a wedding dress. I told a friend of mine if I were to cosplay Ayame, I am planning to do the same thing on what he did, but he said he will kill me if I wear it.
