emme on 9/20/04 Valoray, is the sweetest child I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. Of course, I'm a bit partial. He has livened up my studio with his charm, and delight in everything around him. His smile is constant, and he behaves amazingly well for a child appearing to be only about 3. Though he loves no place more than in my lap or next to me helping in anyway he can, he's not demanding or needy, and often wanders out into the garden to amuse himself. He'll lay in the grass quietly watching the swaying leaves above him or collect flowers for me. Only one thing has me worried... since he came to me, he has yet to utter a single sound. He appears to beable to hear just fine, and already recognizes his name, but I fear he is mute. ((more soon to come. ^^ hehe. Im really new at this stuff))

9/22 I went shopping for Ray today. My studio isn't the most child friendly place, so I thought I'd get a few things to make his room more cozy. I've started cleaning out my office to give him is own room. Though he seems perfectly happy staying in my room, I have a feeling he will want his own personal space soon enough. It's funny, my studio seemed so large and empty... not anymore. I was getting quite lonely, but Ray has more than cured that. I was considering getting a cat, and I still might. I'm sure he'd love a pet. I picked up a sign language book while I was out. I'm still holding out hope that he'll learn to speak, but until then, we're going to work on basic signs. It's a common parenting tool used to help children communicate before they are able to actually form words. Ray is very bright, and has already picked up several signs. "Hugs" and "hold me" are his favorite. He's just too sweet.

((Write a solo RP post about this and your reaction to it. It can be a dream, or real. Ray won't be harmed if it is real, not a scratch on him.))
You feel a stirring early one morning to check on Ray. Motherly instincts perhaps? None the less, you cannot get yourself back to sleep, and give into the odd craving to check on the young boy.
When you approach him, you see that he's not covered with the usual blankets, nor are there pillows under his head. Instead, he is now lying on a bed of stems, all covered in sharp spines and prickles. There are flowers as well, red ones, pale red and white ones, and little red fruits around. This odd bed makes up his pillow and blanket as well, yet Roy sleeps peacefully in the dangerous looking bed of stems...

It took all my will not to completely loose my composure and snatch little Ray from that meanacing bed. He was fine. He didn't even notice. Was it in my head? I pressed my eyes shut, trying to dislodge that image a from my mind. I looked again, and there he was, curled up with his new blankey, in a perfectly safe, matching green and blue bed set we had picked out together for his new bed. Safe and sound. Or so it seemed. I couldn't help myself. I picked up his sleeping form, blanket and all, and tromped back to my room. I hadn't really liked putting him alone in his room anyway... no matter how much we both liked the matching green and blue bedset...

We got up the next morning, and Ray showed no signs of being at all effected or even aware of the previous nights events. He sat on his booster chair at the kitchen table where he could gaze out the window over looking the garden. A humming bird was darting about at the feeder hanging from the large tree next to the studio, casting dancing shadows over the kitchen table in the early morning light. Ray giggled, silently, of course, but the delight was evident in his face. I shook my head involutarily. Would he ever speak? Or utter a sound? Part of me didnt' care. I loved him just as he is. But the logical side knew that we had to work on his communication skills. It was easy enough for me to understand him, most the time anyway, but he wanted to badly to interact with others. So, after breakfast, we practiced signs. He picked them up quickly, though he grew bored with the exercises quickly. I had little work that morning, so I decided we should go for a walk. I was actually toying with the idea of getting a cat. I couldn't believe i hadn't gotten one before. The studio had been so empty... I guess I was able to loose myself in my work before. But Valoray would need company now. So, we headed out to trek to the market street & business district. Valoray skipped along beside me, wide away and thoroughly enjoying the change in scenery. As usual, I made my rounds, dropping off my business cards at a few of the shops, and checked in to see how a few friends were doing. Valory was growing restless, so I decided to cut my rounds short. We finally stopped into a delightful shop full of items that Valory was instangly drawn to, called Zen Crafters. Ray was extremely well behaved, and nodded with complete understanding and senserity when I asked him not to touch anything. He wandered down one of the isles, captivated by the fountains. I was drawn towards the lanterens. I spotted a lovely green one that would serve as a perfect nightlight to hang over Ray's bed. It shifted slightly in the breeze coming in from the open door, and I snatched the small fluttering lable hanging from it. It said "Serenity Lantern". I knew then I had to have it. I turned to find Valoray squatting infront of one of the indoor fountains. He was messmorized by the little bamboo fountain that consistantly poured water from each of the tiny spouts, it's momentum fueled by the water it's self. Ray was so intent on it, that was sure he was struggling desperately with the urge to touch it. I snuck up behind him, and tickled his ribs lightly. He turned, grinning at me. I noted the fountain mentally and picked him up, going to the front desk to order the items to delivered to my studio. We wandered down the the street a while longer, looking for a pet shop of some kind. I was determined now. I really wanted a cat... or a dog... or even a gold fish! Finally, I spotted a small shop on the right side of the road. The sign said "-- ¤ º Icy Kittens º ¤ -- " And it looked like a pet shop from what I could tell! I put Ray down when we entered, so he could decide on which Kitten we'd be taking home. There was a good variety of colors and breeds, but Ray obviously didn't notice any of those things. He was instantly drawn to a small blue kitten, who blinked back at him sleepily, then eventually got up to investigate the boy staring into his cage. The kitten meowed, louder than you would have though possible for such a small creature, and began licking Ray's fingers, and purring loudly. That was easy, I thought to myself, heading to the register to adopt the newest addition to our quickly growing family.

RP Memories from the ShoppeMon Sep 20, 2004 8:11 pm emme Emme had been restless all evening, having finished most the work on the mirrors and a couple of other random items the'd collected over the weekend. Valoray was sleepy, but she couldn't help but feel the need to get out after spending the day in her studio. So she put the sleepy child on her hip and headed out. The streets of Gaia were quiet on her end of town, and it was a short walk to the run down shop that she, Neith and Yuu had taken on as a restorative project. Ray silently gazed at the surroundings, one little hand absently twiriling a bit of Emme's hair. She smiled down at him and readjusted his postion. Despite his petite stature, he was beginning to get heavy, yet she couldn't bear to put him down to walk on his own. His lids were drooping, and she was beginning to regret going out so late, despite the fact that there was still a bit of sunlight and light foot traffic on the streets. Just as her arms felt as if they were going to give out, the rundown shop came into view. "Thank goodness!" She uttered under her breath, and dug in her pocket for her key. She found it quickly and fumbled, one handed, with the lock before she finally got the door open and flicked on the light. Valoray stirred minutely, and she sighed with releif(sp?) as she finally found a large chair lay him down in so she could find what she was after. Then, it occured to her. How was she going to get little Ray home along with a box of mirrors and antiques? There was no one at the shop, as she had expected, but Neith and her girls had done a wonderful job cleaning and organzing. There was a neatly packed box with a new batch of items to be repaired and repainted a waiting on a shelf for her. Emme picked it up, testing the weight. It was surprizingly light, much to her relief. She glanced over at the chair, trying to decide how best to make her trip back to the studio. Valoray, despite heavily leaded eyes, was sitting up, watching her. "You awake, sweety? You think you can walk back?" She highly doubted he'd make it all the way back to the studio, but at least part of the way would make her balancing act a bit easier. Valoray nodded, doing his best to look more alert. Neith-Kia Neith walked in again at that point, Aurora holding Neith's hand with one hand, the other holding a icecream. Kia followed soon after, also with an icecream. Kia grinned at Emme, and called, "Hello, Miss Emme. I'd stay and talk, but I got to get back to cleaning upstairs in the living room." She leaned down to give Aurora a hug, then ran up the staircase towards the job. Aurora stepped over to where she could see a boy, and through licking her icecream, asked, "Who are you? I'm Aurora!" "Hello Emme." Neith rubbed her forehead, Aurora's chatter really didn't do much for a headache. "Leaving already?" emme Emme waved cheerfully at Kia as she dashed up the stairs, then turned to Neith. "Well I was about to, considering all my tools are back at the studio, but now that I have company, Ray and I will stick around to help you with all the great work you've been doing around here... But afterwards, can I borrow you or one of your girls to help carry some of the boxes to my studio?" *** Valoray sat up strait and blinked at Aurora. He waved at her shyly and smiled. Neith-Kia "Great! Company would be wonderful, right Aurora?" Neith glanced at Aurora, who was still standing there with curiosity written all over her face. "Yep!" Aurora tugged over a chair, and sat next to Valoray, her eyes mostly gazing at the green stripe in his hair. THat was curious! emme "Great!" Emme replied, and made her way over to the children. "Aurora, this is Valoray, or Ray for short... he doesn't talk, yet but I'm sure he'd love your company, right Ray?" He nodded, still blinking sleepily and slipped off the chair, and took Aurora's hand, staring up at the older girl. He was clearly trying to communicate something, but exactly what was less clear. Neith-Kia "Hi Ray." Aurora smiled down at the boy, squeezing his hand and added, "I like your hair. How old is he, Miss Emme?" Neith flopped down in a dusty chair, and called to Emme, "Have you found anything particulay interesting today? I found the same ... odds and ends, and a friend dropped in. She wanted a mirror, so I offered a price. Her name is Xannyia, she'll be coming back here a lot to give us updates." emme Ray grinned and touched his hair. He began pulling Aurora towards the stairs. "I think he's about 3... but he hasn't uttered a word yet. He loves to paint, though!" Emme told Aurora, and went to find a chair next to Neith. "Nah, didnt' have time to look around, just came to get another box. I finished touching up the paint on that jewelry box, and resetting some of the jewels on the mirrors. That's wonderful about Xannyia! I wonder how things will go for her." emme Ray grinned and touched his hair. I wonder how things will go for her." Neith-Kia ((Sorry, I burnt my arm with boiling oil. >_O So I'm a bit distracted. It splashed on my cheek as well, but apparently there was enough time for it to cool down so that it didn't burn my face. o.o)) Aurora followed Ray, her head twisted slightly towards Emme so that she could hear Emme's answer. "Oh. I like art too!" She followed him towards the stairs, then started to climb up them on all fours, glancing back to watch Ray as she did. Neith nodded. "Then she and him need to fingerpaint together sometime. Maybe one of the walls in the rooms could be painted by the children, when we've put on the base coats? Yes, I wonder too. I don't even know if it'll happen again, but we can hope? I'd love another girl for Aurora to play with." emme ((OMG! boiling oil is definately not good... are you okay?)) Emme watched Ray cautiously as he climbed on the stairs after Aurora. He was good about the stairs the the Studio, but these stairs were a bit steeper. "Careful on those stairs, Ray." She warned. He turned and nodded, with a very serious expression. He seemed quite taken with Aurora, though, and carefully and deliberately climbed on the stairs after her. "That sounds like a great idea, Neith! I bet they'll love it." Neith-Kia ((Sorry about that, I decided to lay off too much typing till my arm calmed down. It's sore now, but not blistering or anything. ^^)) Aurora was very patient to wait for Roy, even if she was an active kid, she didn't like leaving others behind. It was almost to the point of obsession for her, Aurora had found, that leaving someone behind just made her feel so horribly bad... "Don't worry, Miss Emme, I will help him!" Aurora called, and let out a sigh of relief when they got to the top of the stairs. "Your mummy doe not need to worry, you could do that a hundred times!" "I hope they will. I'm starting to think that upstairs really isn't too bad after all." Neith winced when a shower of dust fell over her, and added, "Apart from some patches." emme Ray was very excited to have a friend, but his communication skills, or lack there of, was getting to be frustrating. He gave Aurora a hug, and grabbed her hand again, bouncing a bit on his toes. He was a petite boy, appearing even younger than three, as Emme had suggested, but he was more steady on his feet and seemed to understand much more than your average 2 year old. He giggled silently and tugged on Aurora some more. The upstairs room was marvelous, though dusty, and he wanted to explore! * * * Emme laughed, brushing a bit of dust off herself as well. "Do you know any carpenters? Having someone fall through that floor might be a small problem. All things considered, though, this place isn't in as bad of condition as you would think... I wonder how long it's been abandoned?" Kaekia "Where is Eriks Street?" Hoshi muttered to himself, peering at the grubby piece of paer that he held in his hand. "Kae said it was around here somewhere..." The piece of paper seemed to have directions on them, but obviously not directions that Hoshi could read, or understand. He had ended up in a narrow alley, the grundgy stores boarded up with rotten wood, and the only one shop showed any sign of life. "Maybe they'll know where the market is," The willowy Fa'e sighed, making his way to the building, that still, with chipping paint and a broken roof, seemed to have a homey touch, and the lights were shining brightly inside. A soft bell rang as he entered the shop, and Hoshi poked his deep plum face in, looking around to see if anyone was in there. "Hello?" he called, cautiously stepping farther in. Neith-Kia Aurora hugged Ray back happily, bouncing a bit too. Yay, a friend! Some almost near her age even! "I think this room needs air." Aurora stopped next to a dusty window, pushing it open and the shutters out. One of them almost fell off the outside wall, but Aurora caught it and clung onto it, trying to tug it up. She could see a teenager at the door, and she called, "Look out!" as Aurora let the shutter fall onto the ground nearby. "Sorry! Hi!" Aurora waved, and then ducked to the staircase to call down the stairs, "Someone at the dooooor!" She turned around to face Ray again, leaving the stranger to the adults. Neith jumped. The bell, Aurora's yell to someone outside, something crashing onto the ground and then Aurora's yell to her and Emme... She stood up when Hoshi peeked his face in, just as Kia, covered in dust and spiderwebs, came sprinting down the stairs. "I get it! I get it!" Kia called, and jumped on Hoshi in a big hug. "Hello!" emme Ray giggled in his silent way, more than amused with Aurora's antics. He plopped down on the floor, watching Kia dash down the stairs. There was a thin layer of dust settling around them, stirred up from the Aurora's attack on the shutters. He began tracing designs in the dust. *** Emme watched Kia and her friend at the door with interst, still very much the new comer to the group. She had only moved to Gaia about 6 months earlier, and had kept to herself for the first few months until she set up her studio. It was nice meeting so many new people, but she felt shy and reserved around them, despite Neith's encouragement. Everyone she'd met, with a very few exceptions, had been more than welcoming. But she couldnt' help her nature. Kaekia Hoshi jumped, a little squeak escaping him as the shutter clattered near by, but he forgot all about it as the phoenix Fa'e nearly knocked him off his feet. "Kia!" He exclaimed, returning hug before he realized that his friend was covered in dust and spiderwebs. Hoshi stuck his tongue out at Kia as he glanced down at his clothing. What had been clean clothes now covered with dust and tiny spider droppings. "Were you just playing with spiders, or are you cleanning?" Hoshi joked, his eyes surveying the room thoughtfully. "Is this your new house?" Neith-Kia Aurora sat down next to Ray on the ground, watching him do his little drawings. She smiled, and started to do some as well. "I like your drawings. They are nice, I wish I could draw like that." Kia laughed, and poked her tongue out back. "This is Momma's shop, I helping clean. But it needs lots of work, lots of cleaning. There's lots of cool things here though, want to look around? Maybe find present for Shina?" She elbowed him gently, and grinned. Then Kia guestured to Emme. "Emme, this Hoshi. Hoshi, this Emme!" Kaekia "Oh! Good idea... I've been meaning to get her something. And I need something to hold all of my favorite things in," he murmered, blushing a bit, seeing as all of his favorite things were from Shina. The blush was replaced with a grin, though, as he was introduced to another shop keeper. "'Lo, Emme." emme "Nice to meet you, Hoshi." Emme replied, with a slight wave. *** Ray smiled at Aurora, and took her hand, tracing out a design in the dust using her finger. He winked at her and then patted both his hands on the ground, sending the dust flying again. Suddenly something caught his attention. There was a flicker in the corner of the room... something he could almost sense more than see. He jumped to his feet, glancing about, unable to find that elusive flicker a second time. He patted Aurora's shoulder and motioned to the corner, did she see it? Pata lover Pata padded into the shop, holding her looking glass in her hands gingerly, looking at the dust and grime on it. Heaving a sigh she looked around, purple kimono whispering at her legs as she walked silently. Looking around for just anyone, her unoccupied hand went to play with her pigtails.
"Hello. Anyone around?" Pata liked making new friends, and this place was sure to make some, snuggling her mirror to her for a few moments of happieness. Neith-Kia "Well... pick a table and start digging." Kia grinned, as she tried to wipe her hands clean on her skirt. She glanced back at Emme, and then around the store, and added, "But look out for falling bits of second floor roof." Neith spoke up then, from where she was sweeping. "Don't scare the poor boy, Kia. No one's fallen through the floor." "Yet!" "You're as bad as Aurora." Neith muttered to herself, glancing to the door again as two new people came inside. One she had met before, Pata, another of the people who'd bought a mirror. Neith waved to her, then turned her attention to the new woman. "Hello, I'm Neith!" Aurora watched him, and giggled as the dust flew around them and the patterns vanished again. She knew what she'd have to get him! Maybe Neith would take her shopping later... She blinked at his patting, and glanced towards the corner. She'd felt, or seen something as well. "What was it?" Aurora whispered, while she took tiny baby steps towards the area... emme Emme grinned at Kia's comment. and then looked at Hoshi, studying him for a moment. "You know... I think I might have the perfect thing for you. I just finished fixing the hinges on this gorgeous jewelry box. I don't know if it's what you're looking for, but I have a feeling...." She paused, and glanced about, wondering where she'd put it. "Ah!" she exclaimed, going over to one of the few clean shelves where she'd placed the few mirrors that she's had time to clean up and repair. She took down the irridecent box... it was gorgeous, the colors shifting from blue to purple in the light. She was going to have a hard tiem giving this one up, but she had a good feeling about this boy. *** Ray watched Aurora's reaction.. she'd seen it too! What was it? He wondered, his eyes roaming the room again. There! by the window! He could see a shape materialzing.... in shades of light blue and grey.... It was ghost-like, translucent, but he could feel it more than see it. Neith-Kia Kia eyed the box, she'd loved it as well. But she didn't want it, as pretty as it was, so she grinned at Hoshi and then at the box, then turned around to try and tug some other choices out for him, should the box be not what he was after. Aurora stepped forward more, and reached out with one hand. "Who are you?" She glanced back at Ray, confused. Why could she feel it more than see it, and who was it? Aurora was a little scared now, although she would have never admitted it to anyone. But she had a feeling that she had no reason to be scared...? emme Ray beamed with delight, and grabbed Auroras hand, dragging them both closer to shape by the window. He could tellt hat Aurora was nervous, so he patted her hand with his free hand and smiled up at her, hoping she'd under stand him. The form was solidfying now, and took on the appearance of a slender, beautiful woman...but the details were still vague. He had a wonderful warm feeling deep inside, much like the feeling that Emme gave him when she held him. Safe was the best way to describe it. * * * Emme set the box down in front of the teenagers, realising she may have intruded. She smiled sweetly at Hoshi. "Feel free to look around, there's plenty more treasures to be discovered." She stated and left the teens on their own. She turned to Neith who was greeting new comers to the shop. The shop was barely even half way clean, let alone open for business, yet they had suddenly become busy! Emme wondered at the fact in amazement. Pata lover Seeing Neith, she offered her a smile as well, walking slowly over to her. "Hi, Neith. How've you been?" Pata asked, the smile still resonating sweetly on her lips as she turned her eyes to look around the shop and to the children at play.
Hugging her rather dirty mirror, she knelt down to watch them play. Looking back up at the others she didn't know, she smiled at each one of them. "My name's Pata. What's yours?" She asked, her own eyes full of mischif and humor. heart heart emme Ray stood staring up at the flickering manifestation for a moment before the noise down in the store below distracted him. He glanced briefly over his shoulder and then turned back to the manifestation... but as he turne dhis head, he could feel the presense leaving... and soon melt away just as mysteriously as it had appeared. Both excited and disappointed, Ray decided to head back downstairs. He knew he'd have a tough time trying to explain what had happened to his mommy, but maybe Aurora could help! He scurried down the stairs, scooting down each step on his butt. He soon reached the bottom of the stairs, startled to find the room full of people! An interesting looking woman knelt down before him, clutching a mirror to her. "My name's Pata. What's yours?" She asked. Ray blinked up at her, and showed her the sign for 'Valoray', and then pointed to himself. He knew only a few people understood his 'sign language', but she seemed to get the idea, and Ray smiled. The next day in the shopemme Emme sat quietly at the shop's counter during her shift. She's been preoccupied most the day, but since the shop was unusually quiet for a Saturday, no one noticed. Ray sat on a stool next to her, working determinedly with his crayons, practicing writing names and words they'd gone over that morning. He was like a little sponge, constantly absorbing new knowledge. Emme hummed a tune absently and thought of home... a place she didnt' often let her thoughts wander. Neith-Kia Neith and Aurora came in, Aurora clutching happily to Neith's hand. She was obviously happy to be back in the shop, and when she saw Ray, she called out excitedly, "Hi Ray!" She let go of Neith's hand, and wandered across the store so that she could stand next to him. She peered up at him and asked, "What ya' doing?" Neith let the little girl do as she liked, she took a seat next to Emme and gently tapped Emme's arm. "Hello, feeling ok?" emme Ray waved excitedly then held up the paper to show Aurora. Underneath each line of Emme's loosly written print was Ray's carefully, though shakily copied versions of the words. The paper said "Valoray" "Emme" "Bloo" "Aurora" and "Neith". Under the names it said "garden" "fish" "tree" and "kitty". Ray happily pointed to his name and then showed Aurora the sign for his name. He did the same for each name on the paper, encouraging her to practice his signs with him. *** Emme looked up at Neith's touch and blinked, coming slowly back to reality. "Hey Neith." She smiled. "Yeah, just thinking." She got up, to find something to busy her hands with. "Things have been slow today, so it was pretty easy to drift off. We stopped by your place the other day, we missed you, though.. obviously. Impressive amount of land you have!" Neith-Kia Aurora stood up on tiptoes to see, her face lighting up when she saw her name. She glanced at his hands, and then tried to make the same ones with ehr own. "You can write my name! And is this sign language?" She copied his hand movements as best she could, Aurora's face screwing up a bit in concentration. It was kind of fun too. Neith laughed and hugged Emme. "Yes... it cost a lot, but it's well worth having it all. You can go camping on your own land, or have somewhere to escape. And it'll have room for the children if they ever want to build a home of their own. What were you thinking about... or is it private?" emme Emme paused for a moment, at a loss for words. On the surface she was a very open person, more than happy to share her opinions and thoughts... but there were some things that she just hadn't felt ready to share. She picked up a cloth and wiped down one of the counters, all to aware of Neith's perceptive gaze. "Um. It was nothing really... but yeah, some what personal. I think I'm still adjusting to living here in Gaia. It's an awefully social place for a loner like myself." She grinned, and as always, she couldn't help but wonder how she came off to other people. *** Ray clapped when Aurora mimicked the names correctly. Though he was still often quiet frustrated with the fact that his communication skills were so limited, he was excited to see Aurora so willing to learn. He jumped down from his stool and ran to get the book that Emme had picked up to help them both learn sign language. Maybe if Aurora could read just enough, they could practice sign language together! . Neith-Kia "Well, ok." Neith let it go, and grinned. "It is, I know. But you'll get used to it, and you can always stay on my land if you need to escape. I think that's partly why I needed so much of my own land, I can just escape if I need to." She got it right! Aurora clapped as well, "Yay!", and followed Ray towards the book. Aurora glanced at the adults, half wondering if it meant that Ray wouldn't ever talk. It would be really scary to not be able to talk, Aurora thought to herself, deciding that she would try and learn as much sign language for him as possible. That way, he could talk to her no matter what. emme "Thanks for the invitation. We'll definately have to go camping some time. Ray really enjoyed being out in the country as well. As much as I love my studio, the little backyard just isn't quite enough." Her attention shifted as Ray jumped from his stool, Aurora following. It was nice to seem him interacting with another child. She kept him cooped up far too much. Ray flipped open the book and showed Aurora his favorite words. He knew quite a few now, but it was hard when no one but his mommy knew them. *Thank you for the lantern* He signed, and then pointed to the signs in the book, flipping to a few paper clipped pages. Neith-Kia "He'll love it then, there's a lake in the center of the place." Neith grinned, and started to clean some dirt encrusted chains that had been waiting for a clean for a while. She glanced over at Aurora, noting the book and asked in a quieter voice, "He still can't speak?" Aurora watched him and then glanced at the book, it all connecting quickly in her mind. She beamed, and hugged Ray. "It's fine! I hope you liked it, I picked it out on my own." She still kept her eyes on the book, absorbing the information and trying to memorize it. emme "It doesn't look like he'll be speaking any time soon, either. It was a little difficult to accept at first, but we're learning sign language together, and he really seems to pick things up quickly, both signs and writing. I think he may be a bit older than he appears... I was always petite for my age as well." She said, almost stubling over her words. She wasn't ready to hint upon her deeper fear... her fear that he'd some how reflected upon her own feelings of isolation... her own inability to open up to others. *** Ray hugged Aurora excitedly, showing her as much as she could absorb. He'd already figured out enough signs to talk with his mommy almost with out having too much difficulty getting his point across. He was so excited to see Aurora trying to understand the signs as well. Aurora was such a good friend! He needed to think of something nice to do for her.

Selket Admor Smiling lightly, Selket tugged her leather jacket around her, walking towards emme's studio. Once there, she left a small package on the doorstep, with a small note. Inside the package was a green stuffed bear. The Note Hello emme and Valoray, While shopping in Dre'um, I found a few of these adorable bears. I picked one up for you, 'Ray, I hope you like it. I hope we can meet soon, as well. Until we meet, Sel' Emme woke late, having stayed up late taking photos at a wedding reception the night before. Valoray had stayed with Neith for the evening, enjoying Aurora's company. Emme could tell he was really taken with her. She got up carefully, doing her best not to disturb Ray, who had found his way into her room sometime during the night, and was snuggled up with Bloo in the middle of her bed. She tropped downstairs, her short hair sticking up in various directions. After fixing some coffee, heavily laiden with creamer and splenda, she straightened her robe and went to the front door to pick up the newspaper. As she opened the door, though she was surprized to discover a package with an adorable green bear inside. Surprized, she glanced up and down the street, in hopes of catching the generous person, but there was no one to be seen. Cradling the package in one hand, she flipped open the folded note. How sweet of Selket! She would definately have to take Valoray to the shop to meet Selket and properly thank her for the wonderful gift.

Emme went about making breakfast, Eggs, vegitarian sausage, whole wheat tortillas, and chucky salsa to make breakfast burritos. The smell of the food cooking brought Bloo to the kitchen in no time to mew at her feet, begging for scraps. A very groggy Ray soon followed. He perked up quickly, though when he caught sight of the teddy bear sitting in his place at the table. He ran to it, scooping up the stuffed animal and hugging it tight, then turned to Emme, and haltingly signed "Gift? Why?" "Selket, a girl who has visited the shop brought you that teddy bear, isnt' that nice of her?" Ray nodded, hugging the bear tight. "We'll have to go visit her to say thank you." Emme stated, placing his eggs and sausage on the table. He wasn't very fond of the salsa, though, so she served his plain. "Now, get up here and eat your breakfast." Emme said, taking the bear and setting it in it's own chair so Ray could climb into his seat unhindered. Bloo, already frazzled by his unnoticed attempts to get their attention and get food in the process, decided the bear would be better off on the floor, being pounced and chewed. Emme snagged the bear off the floor, and set is up on the top of the fridge, and found a can of food for Bloo.

While I was working on one of my many commission works, Ray worked carefully on some artworks of his own. Bloo in the garden, under the weeping willow. I showed him how to write 'bloo' and he practiced for some time before applying it to the paper. This piece, of couse, is hanging on the fridge. A surprizingly accurate portrait of Aurora. We practiced her name and his name for quite some time... and he still didn't seem to get it quite right, but for his age, I'm impressed. We'll have to remember to take this with us next time we head to the shop so he can give it to Aurora. I'm sure she'll love it!

Aurora and Neith snuck up to Emme's doorstep, and left a cardboard box sitting there. Inside, was this: And a note read, Quote: Dear Emme and Ray, We thought you'd like this, maybe it can be in Ray's bedroom? Aurora and Neith.

Neith-Kia Aurora and Neith snuck up to Emme's doorstep, and left a cardboard box sitting there. Inside, was this: And a note read, Quote: Dear Emme and Ray, We thought you'd like this, maybe it can be in Ray's bedroom? Aurora and Neith. It had been a very long day. Emme was exhausted. They'd taken a bus out to Neith's land to drop off the bonzai and the picture. But much to Emme's surprize, it wasn't just a drive, it was also a long walk to Kia & Aurora's house. Ray slept most of the ride home, and was still sound asleep in Emme's arms on the walk from the bus stop to the studio, his head resting on her shoulder. "Come on Ray, it's time to wake up." Emme finaly told him, and he lifted his head, rubbing his eyes and looking around. Emme set the boy down, searching her pockets for her keys. Ray was soon tugging at her pant leg and pointing to the door step. There was a box with a letter sitting there. "Well, look at that! We sure have had a lot of visitors lately, havne't we? Go ahead and get it, Ray. We'll go inside and read the letter." ***

A woman wonders to your front door and leaves something on your doorstep. You open the door to see what it is and discover a black box wrapped with a red bow. You pick it up and bring it inside, a bit weary of what may lay inside... You open the box and see purple wrapping tissue paper, a sheet of crimson stationary laying ontop of it all. note Greetings! I seem to have made something that might be to you and your child's liking. Do not worry, nothing will explode in your face or jump out and bite you. smile Hope you enjoy your present! *PS: I made one for every child* ~Sao Kasai

(from my journal) I've been having strange dreams lately. Hazy, and hard to remember, and definately strange. They started when I fell asleep while watching the shop. I could feel a presence in the shop... but only in that moment right before sleep. It wasn't strong enough to actually latch onto, to really pay attention to. At first, anyway. I've been dreaming of a guardian, a woman in silvery blue. She has a purpose... she wants to reach out to us, tell us something. It's something about the shop... about "Through the Looking Glass" and the secrets held with in these children that manifest themselves out of the objects we discover there. I can never dream of her when I have the slightest control of the dream, the slightest consciousness. So I can never focus enough to remember her details. But last night, I picked up a marker and sketched her out before she was gone. I felt the urge to title it 'DreamingThought' .... perhaps because she only comes to me during dreamingthoughts... Much like the title of my studio. My art comes to me during those half waking moments... that slight shift between day dream and consciousness.
