"I don't want Devi to get hurt, either," Anen nodded. "If he needs help, we'll help him out." He swept one wing down and angled into a slow turn, checking the position of the sun and the landscape below him, mentally comparing what he saw to what Devi had told him. A few degrees west. That looked like the right hill.

He looked thoughtfully at Nozomi, hearing an echo of his own feelings in her determined statement. "Friends help. That's right. What we're here for, right?" She was very definitely herself - that was the only way he could really put it, even if it didn't sound like it made sense.

Nodding, Omi grinned, resting her head on Anen's shoulder again as they started to bank to the side slightly. Friends helped each other... no matter what. Youko had said it enough, whether it was just as a shoulder to cry on, or helping out his friends in other ways. Even if it inconvenienced him, he STILL did it, and Omi wanted to do that too. Devi was her friend... and had brought her all kinds of things. She'd wanted to go with him if he left, but that hadn't happened. The least she could do now was make sure he was okay.

She was also suddenly VERY glad that Anen had come along. This would have taken WAY too long to walk. "Aneh and Omi fweinds too?" she asked, blinking bright green eyes at the other Fa'e. A normal child would have been staring at Anen's eyes... or arms... or wings... all of which seemed to have an extra pair somewhere. Granted, she was curious, but something kept her from asking about them. She didn't want to be rude, after all. Regardless of extra appendages, Anen was Fa'e, just like she was. And according to everyone else, that meant they had a right to be odd.

"Yeah, I'd like that," Anen said. If they hadn't been in the air, he would have given her side a light tickle to emphasize the statement; but as it was, he preferred having a properly solid grip. "I'm good with that if you are." She really was a sweet kid. "Hold on tight now," he added. "Time to land. Wanna do this fast or slow?" He gave the child in his arms a mischievous grin.

"FAST!" she yelled, laughing as she threw both hands up in the air, her legs clinging to his side as tightly as she could. Her own wings spread out then, the girl's hair streaming behind her as she faced into the wind.

"I thought so," Anen laughed, and held on to Omi with all four arms so that she could feel secure with her hands in the air and her wings spread. He pulled up with a few deft wingbeats, then swept both wings back so that only the leading edges caught the air, and let gravity take them in a tightly controlled fall. "Here we goooooooo!"

Omi let out a shriek... but it definately wasn't from fear. The sound degraded into high-pitched laughter as the wind swept past them and the ground got closer and closer. It didn't seem to frighten her in the slightest, however, and she just settled in Anen's arms, content with the knowledge that he wouldn't drop her. "'EVIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!" she called out once they were low enough, the girl's voice not carrying very far... but she either didn't know that, or didn't care.

Just as it began to seem that they were going to crash for sure, Anen snapped his wings out into a powerful downbeat and swung his legs down. He rushing air eddied around them as he maneuvered the dive into a stall just a little way above the ground and set down neatly in a well-practiced move. "Do I pass?" he asked Omi, smiling.

He glanced around the area, noting landmarks. Yeah, this was the right place. "He's around here. Shall I keep carrying you? Or do you want to walk?"

"Aneh path..." Omi said, trying to say 'pass' and failing miserably. Once they were down on the ground, she squirmed loose and landed on her feet in the grass. "Omi walk," she said, stretching out her wings and flapping them a few times as she started to bounce-step away from Anen. Maybe she COULD fly already and just didnt' realise it? She got perhaps a few feet away before stopping and turning around again, remembering that she had no clue where they were going.

"This way, kiddo," Anen told her, and pointed to the left. "Stick close, okay? I need you to keep me from getting lost out here, so you'd better keep an eye on me." She was a bright kid, and would probably see that as the somewhat transparent ruse that it was; but with any luck, she'd stay nearby.

"Why need 'nuther eye? Aneh got four..." Omi shrugged then and padded off after him, reaching up and grabbing hold of one hand as she kept beside him closely. She didn't know the area... and could very easily get lost. That was enough reason in her mind to stay close to the weaver Fa'e. "Find 'evi down here?"

Anen laughed. "Well, the more we've got to look, the better, right?" He took her small hand and glanced around, getting his bearings. "This is where he said he was going to go. Let's have a look around." He let Omi set the pace; she was the one with the shorter legs, after all.

Omi trotted off, leading Anen through the trees as she yelled for Devmani every now and again. Occasionally, she just sighed, half wondering if they'd EVER find him here, and toyed with the trees as they passed. She'd reach up with her other hand, batting at a branch that would lower itself to her height, then it would spring up again, sending leaves falling in a cascade around them. Part of her wished that she could do other things... like 'feel' people when they were nearby. "See 'evi?" she asked, looking up at the taller Fa'e, since he had a better vantage point.

Anen called out for Devi as well, his deeper voice carrying throughthe trees along with Omi's small voice. Hopefully they wouldn't interrupt anything.

He glanced down to Omi at her question. "Not yet," he said. "How about you?" It occurred to him that he could use other forms of sight, as well, but they'd try calling first. Looking for possibility strings without a decent idea of where to start was a good way to give himself a pounding headache.

Omi paused for a moment, looking around and narrowing her eyes faintly. Something was different over there... and she felt herself drawn to it. The trees weren't like the other ones... instead of being haphazardly here and there, they were almost arranged in a semblance of a pattern. "Dis way..." she whispered, tugging on Anen's hand as she explored the new area. "Not same here."

"You're right." Anen found that he had lowered his voice. There was a feel to this part of the woods, something very deliberate and conscious. He slowed his steps a little. The pattern defied conscious analysis, but it was definitely there. "Over here?" he asked Omi, checking his instinct.
