I met a Goju-ryu sensei once. I can't remember his name but I was told a story about him I will never forget.
The instructor in question is a thin, unasuming man. His day job is a histroy teacher at a high school in Jersey. He was well into his 50s when this happened.
He was at a gas station when 4 guys, all with knives, attempted to mug him. He put all four in the hospital. Then the schmucks sued him!! The judge heard the complaint, looked at the four guys, looked at grey-hairs history teacher, and then looked back at the four guys.
"You've got to be kidding me. Case dismissed." And the gavel fell.

Some sparring stories.
The first time I ever sparred a black belt was in Tae Kwon Do, a very long time ago. I was about 11 or 12, and it was the last time I went to class at that school. I had just gotten back into TKD after a hiatus, as my sisters were very busy in their dance classes, and I wasn't able to get to class (since I couldn't very well drive myself). We went through form and then to sparring. I got paired with a first-degree black belt. I was a Brown, Senior (almost black belt), so I'm guessing that they thought we were on even terms...despite the age gap of several years (he was older)...and the height difference (he was about six inches taller). I got pounded, as he actually fought me, and just picked on my head. Now, I could take a hit, mind you. I just couldn't return one, and it frustrated the hell out of me. So after my humiliating pounding, I quit.
Fast forward to 2 years ago. I was attending a Wushu school, and had decided to compete. I was in one forms competition at Intermediate level (in which I lost; I shoulda done Drunken Fist...), and one sparring competition. I was between weight classes and, stupid me, I went with the higher of the weight classes. Needless to say, everyone there had the range advantage, and I was wearing hefty boxing gloves and tried to stick to a style of combat that they had taught me, and I knew I couldn't use. All in all, it was a wash, and I was depressed for about six weeks after that. I finally kicked my a** back into gear and rejoined my current dojo.

Ah taking a pounding or getting pussied out in the first round is all part of the learning experience smile your stronger for it

Mostly, they were learning experiences. When I was in TKD, I was too young to learn, and I hadn't received a sound beating for a while when I entered competition. I think the biggest disappointment was that it was my first ever competition, and I lost everything I entered. This was after everyone I know telling me just how good I am at martial arts. I didn't have more time to dedicate to study, so I just fell into depression. Now, I'm about to become a cop, and I'll have more free time to train. That'll be nice.
Another batch of stories (these are more positive): First one's from my friend in college who I learned some Tien Shan Pai from. We were sparring with some light, fingerless, padded gloves (much like typical videogame karateka gloves) and no masks, and he landed a great punch across my face. I turned right around to fight, burning after the hit, and he threw up his hands and said, "You're bleeding!" Accounts from observers report a sickening "crack" when the punch hit. My nose was crooked for a day before I went into the bathroom and bent it back into position. It was still crooked for a while, but acupuncture helped to straighten it out. Now I'm pretty again. whee
Next one's from college as well, but with a different friend. We were doing some bare-handed stuff, just playing around. My then girlfriend and a mutual friend of ours showed up to watch. While I was joking around with them, my friend took the opportunity to kick me in the face. I immediately turned on him and advanced. He threw his hands up and said "Sorry!" Apparently, I had gotten quite fierce when I decided to advance, and it scared the hell out of him.
Last one. I worked at the Boy Scout camp for a couple of summers while I was in college. One summer, we had this obnoxious jerk at camp, and while his Troop were up, we learned of a nickname that he was called, and apparently hated. At this point I had only had TKD training. So I was teasing him one night while laying on my cot in our staff area. He came into my tent and grabbed my throat. I immediately clamped onto his wrist, put my foot in his neck and rolled him into a straight arm lock. He finished threatening me (despite being locked and not able to do any harm), and walked away. I decided that some jujutsu would probably be a good thing after that.

Ok, my friend told me this just now. He's a sparring partner of mine with a kicking power of above 200 kg...
There were 6 guys waiting for him, and he didn't know why. One comes to him with a knife, and my friend used a technique which made him stick the knife in his own foot (owner of the knife). The second person came to him, while he wanted to grab something. Before he could do that, my friend does a flying kick which throws the guy through an enforced window (dunno the English word) and that guy is now in the hospital with holes in his lungs, shattered and broken ribbs, and he's missing his spleen. The other 4 don't dare to fight him.
The police comes, and when he's supposed to sit in the car for formality, the officer tells him to watch his head, and my friend puts his hand on the roof, and the officer doesn't really notice it. When the officer closed the door, my friend rolled down the window and gives the officer back his handcuffs. The police officer looks at him and says: "You must be the guy I heard so much about..." (Note: my friend "saved" a lot of people from robberies or assaults, and has a lot of friends at the police station.)
At the police station, he gets in his cell and starts playing cards with the officers. Then he hears that the 2nd guy wanted to grab a 9 mm gun before my friend kicked him through the window... (Guns aren't really common in this country...)
So now they want to charge the guys with murder, trial is soon to come.
*sigh*
Stuff like this happens to him a lot for some reason, but he never does anything that isn't necissary...

This isn't really about a someone getting a butt kicking, but it's a funny story. My sensai was teaching us beginners how to fend off a street attack with out doing alot of dammage. He and a brown belt were simulating what would we were to try and do when my sensai let out a loud fart. Sensai just grinned and told us that if we ate alot of beans before going out we could use that "attack."

Alright! I'm working on my own, out in a bad part of town. I finish repairing a roof and am setting the ladder back on the truck. It was early so it was pretty quiet. I got the ladder on and was going to tie it to the rack when I heard a clicking noise behind me.
I turned around and saw a pit bull charging me, and he was almost on me. He jumped at me and I spun at him. I uncorked an outside-to-inside crescent kick and caught the monster right across the head. I spun the dog in the air and it flew past me and slammed into the truck. It was kinda stumbling around, so I tied off the ladder and left.

This is a granpa story (so you know it's gonna be good). My grandfather's machine shop used to be located in an urban neighborhood that bordered on some unsavory settings. One day, while he was loading up the truck, a guy came up to him with a gun. The exchange went something like this:
"Gimme everything you got." "Really? You want everything?" "Yeah! Come on!"
At which point my grandfather spins around with a pipe and clocks the guy unconscious, finishes loading up and leaves. The guy wasn't there when he got back. He was in his seventies at the time. I love my grandfather. whee

One of the worst sparring experiences occured to me when I was quite new to training. I was 4th kup (just) and had been training for about a year and half, I was attending this class where I went to university and we were doing sparring, I came up against this 1st kup not far from his blackbelt. He was a leggy fighter (similar to me), and he kept throwing these reverse turning kicks (you spin around backwards, raise the leg up and hit with the back of the heel with a straight leg), I was watching his timing, I saw him going for one and thinking I was really clever I ran in behind him to punch the back of his head, unfortunately instead of a high section reverse turning kick it was a spinning back kick aimed at my belly, but because he didn't see me and I was running into it he caught me full force in the testicles, he literally lifted me off the floor by the balls. I've never known pain like it. I heard this story about this JuJitsu blackbelt. This guy was a bit of a nutter and loved the sound of crunching bones. He was in london when he felt somebody trying to pickpocket him, so he reached down, broke their hand and wondered on his way...

It reminds me of a video of a tournament I once saw. Andy, one of the blackbelts at our club was fighting in a tournament. This other guy who had just won his fight and was on an endorphin high and he didnt have to fight Andy but he chose to, even though he wasnt in his weight class. They went to fight and Andy KOed him with two kicks, the first one spun him round and then the second kick sent him flying into the next ring, the referee there was like "wtf?" and was still trying to figure out what had happened when the ambulance took him (the guy Andy had been fighting) away.

Back in my aikido days, I trained with a guy who told me a story about a time he was in for surgery. They administered the anesthetic, but before he was completely out, the nurse grabbed his wrist, to, I dunno, do some prep work that she had to do. In his half-sedated state, not conscious of what he was doing, he applied a wrist lock and dropped her to her knees. He had no idea it even happened until after the procedure was done.

That's awesome! Another hospital story. My cousin, the surgeon, was still in school and doing a rotation in the local ER. Some guy was out of his head on drugs and tried to run when he figured out the police were there for him. Code green goes out (patient becoming violent) and Scott come running. Scott's the only guy between the door out and the druggie. The druggie tries to shove Scott, but Scott sidestepped, got a wrist lock and pulled the guy facefirst to the floor, pretty as picture. A police officer was right behind the guy and cuffed him while Scott still had the lock applied. Scott sadi, "Man, that's cool!"

One time i was fighting in a apartment gagrage with this other dude. he brought with him like 3 other dudes and i brought around 10 or something.anyways it was a one on one, we started to deck each other in the face(like any other street fight). i fell and realize i was bleeding real bad on one of my eyes(i couldn't really see cuz of the blood) anyways out of no where i got up and started deck himing in the back of the head. he was in a bend down position(i guess he was tired of somthing). i hear one of my friends say NO MERCY, so i came right up to him and did one good uppercut to his face...he then falls down knock out.as i realized he was knock out i started reapidly stomping on his face. then one of his friends pulls out somekind of sword or something. the next thing i know is ppl telling me to run,so i did...WITH A VICTORY!!!(plz do not think i fight to hurt others,it was for the challenge.)

well i went to a tournament like three weeks ago and they matched up this red belt with two other black belts and at first the red belt had to face the 1st degree black and he beat him with no sweat.then they matched him agianst a 2nd degree black belt and the red belt got the crap beat out of him in the first round but then in the last round the red belt jumped into the air and did a flying round house and the black belt just kicked the red belt while he was in the air and the red belt went flying across the ring.everyone was sure it was over after that but the red belt got up and kicked the crap out of the black belt.aparntly when the black belt did that it only pissed the red belt off.

ive been in several street fights but i remember one most clearly. i lived in israel for about 10 years, so this story is from when i was around 14 years old. you see in israel they have, not exactly gangs, but i guess ill call them cliques. so i was just walking with my friends down a street, we were heading for the movies, when we saw some other group of guys walking towards us. so us and them moved aside a little so we can pass, but one of their people purposely bumped into my friend and then started talking s**t right to his face. now you have to understand that im the kind of person who would back up his friends no matter what, so obviously i stepped in and tried separating them. now israeli guys are insanely stubborn, much like i am, so the other guy pushed me. being the agressive person that i am, i swung at him and broke his jaw, but no way was i done. i put him to the ground and started pounding him in the face, there was blood coming out of his nose, mouth, and eyes. out of nowhere one of his friends comes up behind me and wales me in the back with a lead pipe. i was too shocked to feel pain, so i just broke his ribs. till this day i have a scar on my back
