Seeing as this is the first federal election that I've actually tried to get involved and informed with, it seems a daunting task picking one candidate. Being brought up with a Green/Labour biast (damn semi-hippy parents) I would have most likely voted for the Greens. Seing as I'm not of legal age for another 5 months, I instead get to sick back and watch the leadership of the country I care about go decided without my, although miniscule no less worthy, vote.

I'M ANGRY, PEOPLE!

I don't like Howard, or the Librals, mainly because of their international policies, treatment of Indiginous Australians and the foresting problem in Tasmania. Who care's about the jobs? I read a good opinion letter in today's Age where someone pointed out loggers connection with the dismissed executioners and streelamp-lighters from generations past. They need to go, and society will someone cope with the loss of jobs.

Streek, dude, you really need to stop taking over threads. Its just going to piss people off, and these are your friends!! Most if not every people like you here, but if you keep this crap up, noone will. Just because we now have a whole forum instead of just a single thread, doesnt mean you should do stupid s**t like try to take it over. Now, i know i havent been a part of [AA] for very long, but i know you're a nice guy, you're friendly, and you're funny, but someone has to say it dude, please stop being an idiot. I know noone else will say it, though on occasion they do think it.

I dont want you to not like me because of this post (or anyone else for that matter), but it needed to be said. Sorry.

Anyway, back on topic: Im not sure who im going to vote for. Both major parties have their strong points, but unfortunately both also have many weak points which outweigh their strong points. I mean, we haven't had a budget deficit under the liberals, like we had under labour previously, but the liberal's stand on education irritates me. Labour would like to make out that by abolishing HECS fees for university students is a good idea, but i disagree. I only do that because labour will not make university free. They will just put some other fee in place of HECS, and in the long run it may end up more expensive than HECS. If Labour actually make university free then Australians would be better educated because those who want to go to university can, no matter how much money they have. The liberals will not remove HECS at all, so both parties in general have terrible policies regarding higher education. I would also like to point out that the Greens dont care about education at all, and probably would do nothing to help it. This is not baseless, i was watching an interview with a Greens candidate and the question of education was addressed. I personally would like a party to be made which takes all the Liberal, Labour, and minor party's strong points, and that would be the best government imho.

But, then again, pigs might fly.

So, I will probably be voting for a third party. No, scratch the probably, make it a definitly.
