Why me Sweetie? Summary: Ding Ding is a Chinese American going to drama school in Bejing when she meets Don, a baker who falls in love with her. The problem is, when Don is utterly in love, he passes out, forgetting everything about her when he awakens. Don's close friends says that it is because Ding Ding resembles Don's exgirlfriend who died in his arms, but is there another reason?
Review: This was another Hong Kong romantic comedy VCD my friends had; like the other, it got more dramatic in the second half. Perhaps that is a common feature for fomactic comedies in Hong Kong. As you can tell from the summary, it is a bit like 50 First Dates, but I found the humor of this one better suited for me.
Characters: 4/5 The main characters are fleshed out pretty well, but some minor characters could use more background. Plot: 3.5/5 The plot is rather corny and not very orginal, but it was farily well exictuted. Engrish: 5/5 Overall: 4/5

Mighty Baby Summary: The wife of a major Japanese cooproation chairman is having a baby, so he wants the Hong Kong division of his company to disign a new baby product. The award winning creator of a bra is asked to help, the problem is his fience is the boss. His perv best friend only hires hot girls, plus his fience brings in an attractive young baby expert from Japan.
The summary above does not even do justice to how bad this movie is. The "gags," if you would call them that, are almost always predictable, and when they are not, they don't make any sense whatsoever. The characters realtionships are volitile, the main character's best friend just stabs him in the back (figuratively) then makes up with him with NO EXPLINATION. The romance makes even less sense, people seem to fall in love after talking to each other for five minutes, then break up ten minutes later. There really is no plot so to speak; the events don't come all together and many scence are completly wasteful. Not even Engrish could save this movie; it might have counteracted with the Japanchinese. Who the ******** wants to hear Chinese people rape the Japanese language? I sure don't. If there is a God in heaven, this movie will never be released in North America. In otherwords, 1/5.

Did this thread die. sad Anyways...
Infernal Affair Summary: During a drug trade between two gangs, it is discovered that there is a mole, both in the gang and the police force. After the deal is stopped by the police, the two moles slowly become more aware of each other. Review: This is a realistic thriller that won't disapoint. The major players in this game are pretty well fleshed out. This movie vaguely reminds be of Quintion Tatontio's Resovoir Dogs, but it isn't nearly as violent. This movie seems like a likly canidate for American release, if we are luckey this movie will grace out shores. 4.5/5
Hotel Rwanda Summary: Based on the true story of genocide in Rwanda Africa, the Juntos, begin slaughtering Tutsies, after the president is killed but Tutsie rebels. A hotle manager takes in refugies, and saves many lives. Review: It is a very insperiational story but I am not sure what else to say. 5/5.
Titain AE Summary: After the earth is derstroyed by aliens, a boy who escapes but is seperated from his father, lives in a space station working as a window washer. Years pass and a man arrives who offers him a deal that may help unite mankind. Review: This movie comes from aclaimed animation director, Don Bluth. The animation is fluid, but the 3d is mixed so poorly it but Studio Gonzo to shame. There are some unique characters however, the story is so riddled with plot holes, especially towards the end, it is hard to know what is going on. Some people may enjoy this movie, I'm not one of them 2.5/5

Downfall
This came out a while ago, but if it comes out on DVD or video, you should rent it. It's that good. For those who don't know, it is a film about the last days of the Third Reich in Germany; more specifically, it's about Hitler and his associates in the last days. The actor who plays Hitler does a fantastic job. All the other actors are equally good. The details and scenes seem real. A very good movie.
Warning: This movie is very intense. A woman even fainted in the movie theater!
5/5

I think Downfall might've been the last movie I saw in theaters. Listen to the Weird One, it was good. The bomb effects were great, in my opinion. It might have just been the theater I was in, but they always managed to scare me. The movie itself is a bit long though.

*revives the movie review* Mr. and Mrs. Smith
FUNNY movie, and LOTS of action. I don't want to spoil it but... The beginning starts out at a good pace, then it becomes very fast to the point of unrealism, but over all it's slapstick and pipebomb humor does well with the intense explosions and short tempers. Brad Pitt's role is the cautious, sneaky type, which makes you wonder why he didn't see this coming. Angelia Jolie was pretty damn hot, especially with her open-mouthed, gun-toting b***h role. Of course her home personality is much more mild-mannered. Expect a guest star appearance from The OC's Adam Brody. Overall it's a 8/10 because some aspect of the plot, once taken into realization, were too unrealistic.
Bewitched
A good chick flick, but not some I'd want to pay to see. It's not about the show but about a movie being made about the show. Nicole Kidman's performance as a naive blonde seemed accurate, but as a witch... no. Will on the other hand, pulled off the role of being an a*****e easily. A lot of cheap laughs and quick wit but all in all I'd give it a 4/10.

Okay...I'm in the mood for this kinda stuff. Here goes:
Code 46 Tim Robbins and the chick that plays the Prefect in Minority Report are living in this futuristic world where everyone is seperated into 2 classes: Those who live inside the city, and those who live outside (in the ******** dessert of all places). Anyway, they meet up in Shanghai during this investigation and end up falling in love and doing the naughty. But they broke this uber crazy society rule and all hell breaks loose.
It's kinda slow, but really interesting. I really enjoyed the story, and the acting. Tim Robbins rules my life. It's a romance tradgedy story, but not one of those hardcore tear jerking ones.
It's a BBC flick, but not hard to find. I picked it up at Blockbuster just last weekend. It definitely gets a 5/5

Unleashed Unleashed is quite simply a brutalistic movie, but then it's what you should expect when the protagonist has been raised since childhood to be an obedient killer for a Scottish mobster. Enfant Terrible (bad boy) director Luc Besson of The Professional and La Femme Nikita turns out an excellent plot while Jet Li, Bob Hoskins, and Morgan Freeman all turn in excellent performances that make Unleashed more than a brutal action thriller, but a deeply troubling human drama. The choreography is beautiful and the fight scenes are not ridiculously pretty ballets, but painful, savage fights with the intent to maim and kill. Unleashed defies all expectations and re-establishes Besson as a man who can elevate an action movie into something so much more. It remains to be seen if he can carry this momentum into The Transporter 2 without dropping the ball.

Fantastic Four
Marvel's oh-so-memorable quartet has finally hit the big screen, and with nice results. As far as the cast goes, I was pleasantly surprised that (with the exception of Jessica Alba) they went with people who fit the part as opposed to random highballers. (Don't get me wrong, Jessie does things just fine; I'm just glad Tom Cruise wasn't Mr. Fantastic.) The plot is delivered with a fair mix of drama, humor, and action (though, not so much on the action; there are only two notable action scenes in the entire movie.) While the hardcore F4 fans may be put off, the casual movie-goer will eat this up like a six-dollar bucket of refillable popcorn.
4/5, plus .5 for the cliche Stan Lee cameo. biggrin

I was going to do F4 too, but it would have been almost exactly the same with more gushing about Doom.
