Blue and silver eyes fell unsteadily onto the lioness as a wave of shock physically forced Tafari back a step from where he stood. She was mad at him. That was very clear, but what did he do? Finding himself unable to breathe, he watched her, listening to what she had to say. Why did she seem like she was in pain? That... That wasn't right. It wasn't fair. He didn't want her to be hurt.

She was talking about how he didn't see things... How he didn't realize what was going on. What did she mean by that? He blinked, frowning at himself. Of course he knew what was going on. He wasn't stupid! If something important happened, he'd know it, right? What mattered right now though, was Isoke. If he really did hurt her, then how could he just watch her walk away.

"Isoke..." he murmured, forcing himself to breathe once again. He didn't fully understand what was going on, but as she turned to move away from him again, something in the back of Tafari's mind flickered. But... That couldn't be right. He blinked at the dark coat as it increased the distance between them. What was she telling him, exactly? "I-Isoke...?" he swallowed nervously, moving a shaky paw out in front of him, pulling himself after her. He wouldn't just let it go like this. He... He wanted to know what she meant... Why she was talking about... love... and family...

She continued on, her eyes clenched tightly as her paws moved across the familiar grounds. Of course, her lands had to be familiar, for that was where she would always be, a princess of her home and a protector and lover of all. But that statement was suddenly harsh, enough to bring her breath short and her mind to a halt, for while she would give her love to her pride, one appeared to never be hers in turn.

His repeat of her name fell on her ears, even after she was a good distance away, and roughly they tightened to her skull. Ignoring him, and going through with her prior statement, she actually increased her pace moreso with the fear that he would follow. As her steps moved, so did her tears, and she felt them trail down her cheeks in soft drizzled. Suddenly, everything became so intense, so real, and she knew. If he followed her, caught up to her, she would be left to a pile of tears.

And so she moved her pace further, all but running. Composed was her back and body, but her eyes and breathing proved otherwise yet again. Her heart was breaking.

Tafari stood steady where he was, still in shock from everything that was going on. He wanted to know what was going on with Isoke... Why she looked so upset... But as she quickened her pace to get away from him, he couldn't help but think that maybe following her would be a bad thing to do. She didn't want him around, that was obvious... But what else could he do? How could he just let her go off like that?

Silver paws stayed solid to the spot they rested. He couldn't seem to get himself to move. Something heavy was weighing on him, deep in his chest. What was this ache? He had never felt this type of pain before. Even though he wasn't physically hurt, it seemed as though something was being torn out of him. A chill ran up his back as he watched the shadow of a lioness disappear into the darkness. He growled sharply at himself for not being able to do anything. No matter what happened, it seemed as though he never did anything right. Maybe he should have gone after her?

His eyes tore themselves away from the path Isoke had taken, pulling Tafari away with them. He needed to go back to the den anyway. He shouldn't have been out there in the first place. It was all his fault this was happening, wasn't it? Maybe he should ask his mother more about how females thought. Maybe then he would be able to do something right.
