Harvested Sorrow Yes it does, however, they didn't just pull in a guitarist to play the chords and have someone rap over it, so that wasn't entirely accurate. True.... very true... Still, I just kinda get tired of commercials doin stuff like that. Changing the way the song sounds so they dont have to go through all the copyright stuff. rolleyes ....

They used the track, vocals included, I'm pretty sure it was just taken out for not causing bitching (the "son of a b***h" part I mean). They used over 10 seconds of the song so they probably still had to pay royalties.

I believe the law is you can sample a song but if you use over 10 seconds you have to pay royalties for it. So most likely they did. It's not like they couldn't afford to. xp

Harvested Sorrow Styx14 zman1013 Hate to bring it up for the 5th time on here but..... "Hair of the Dog" is a REALLY good song xd ... Indeed it is! Have any of you heard the AWFUL rap song on a car commercial that took the exact chords out of their song "Hair of The Dog", and then put rap lyrics into it. I mean, what kind of sick person ruins an awesome song with rap lyrics? Obviously lots, because, there are a lot of songs that happen to...how very, very sad. cry Uh, they didn't exactly do that. They simply used the Nazareth song and put a rap song over the top, you can still hear the Nazareth vocals...unfortunately, they censored the chorus so all you hear is "Now you're messin with a ....." I do realize that. And you don't think that's ruining a song? I sure do....

I think it's ruining the song, however, that's not the same as re-recording the song, which you seemed to suggest is what happened.

Man, they must have really killed the song in that comercial the way you guys are talking about it...
Anyway, I was reading through and all I saw was "Hair of the Dog". I agree it is a very good song 3nodding , but have any of you ever heard the song 'Shanghai'd in Shanghai'? or "Love Hurts"?
