Well, I've been neglecting this.
But for good reason. Today was day three of bandcamp and I am one sore, ache-y guard girl. But ya know what? Our routine is FINISHED and we look AWESOME. Here's a run down of the exciting things that happened: Monday morning we ran a lap and my hypotension got bad and I started to black out. I went to the side, drank some nasty generic gatorade crap and it made me nauseous. As I was walking inside with a band mom, I knelt over, threw up the gatordae and my breakfast, and felt much better. Now, I've been at this for four years now and I have never ONCE fallen out. Not until the first day of senior year bandcamp. Yah, I'm that good. And then at 5, when camp was over, my coach and the other captain came over to write the routine. We didn't start working until 6, 6:30 and were done at 9. WE WERE SO LOOPY. No joke. It was bad. And funny. I woke up yesterday and thought I couldn't move. The weather was really nice and cool, so we stayed outside from 7 until 12 yesterday, and came back out at 3:45. So yesterday I thought I couldn't move. It was nothing like today. It was TERRIBLE today. I woke up 3 minutes after my alarm started going off with my face mashed into the pillow and I honestly thought I was physically incapable of moving. Our routine involves me (and half the guard) sitting for the first 16 counts and when my director says "FROM THE TOP!" or "ONE MO' 'GAIN!" It means running back to the 30 yard line and sitting down in my pose. It may not sound to strenuous, but GAWD IT HURTS. YOU do that about 50 times (no joke) a day and see how in shape you are. Lord knows I'm not. Well...I am now... >.> So here I am. Not quite as sore but I'd love to just sleep until forever tomorrow.

Yay! I've finally caught up on sleep!
Last night's parent performance went fairly well. My marching during pregame was somewhat...uh, interesting (so my line of guard members doesn't get a yard line, we have to hit the center of the end zone. It's hard to eyeball the center.)...but it was straightened out after that. I had a guard girl's sister take pictures with my camera, so there are some really good pictures. Afterwards I wanted a picture of the senior girls, but one of them didn't hear us calling her back for the picture- so it was my best friend and I, and it became a Captains' picture- HERE IT IS!
We're so cute. *nods* The dinner was alright, nothing special. Then she came back here and we fell asleep watching What Not To Wear. This morning we went to a band mom's house, picked out fabric to make sashes for teh first game, and came back and just chilled. We ate dinner, I found my [already sick] bird not able to get to food and water, so he's in solitary confinement right now... meaning I have him under a laundry basket and on a heating pad with food and water. After a few hours of that he's perked up a bit but I'm still sooo worried. He's going to the vet on Thursday. Hopefully, he'll make it that long.
After getting him settled down, we went out for ice cream- a Super Banana Split. Freaking amazing. ZOMG. THAT IS A HUGE BANANA SPLIT.
And here I am. Once again, no car. Thursday my muffler fell off and was fixed taht night. Yesterday, I discovered that my two front shocks were shot. Like, they're dead and I can't drive until Dad fixes is next weekend. I can't even drive the damn car for more than a week before it falls apart again.

So a bit has happened this week. Sunday night, my bird died. I was beartbroken, watching him lose the movement in his legs and not be able to move. I left for a friend's house and he died a while later, Mom called my best friend to tell me when we were coming home.
Hmm. What else? Oh, on Tuesday we adopted two more parakeets, their names are now Lucy and Desi. 3nodding They're sweet. Not used to people, but sweet. I got my schedule for school fixed (awesome schedule this year) and went to the last municipal band concert in the park this summer. Oh. And one of my best friends told me that he was going into the Army Reserves. I'm happy for him, because he really wants to do this along with his schooling but a bit anxious, too. Oh well.
Thursday my car got fixed. It turned out that it's NOT the shocks. My left rear brake shoe was shattered and slipping. ...Yah, that's bad. But hey, it's fixed now. After getting my car fixed, Clayton (Army Reserve-boy) came to pick me up and we headed out to Steak'N'Shake. I want to clear something up. Steak'N'Shake does not- I repeat- DOES NOT have the best taco salad, as so many people claim. IT WAS FAR TOO AMERICANIZED. Like, ranch dressing? What the hell? ...Anyhow, Rosita's taco salad is way better. Oh, yeah, it's authentic, too. Anyhow. He had gone in for his physical for the Reserves taht day and told me of his adventures. After that, he talked me into seeing Snakes on a Plane. .....I think I lost IQ points from watching that movie. But hey, he paid, I didn't.
Last night I went over to his house for a get together for all the people that were leaving for college and their friends. As it turns out, I was the only person returning to the high school this year. >.> A bit odd. And sad. When I left, he pulled me aside. "So, uh, if I were to call you to pick me up from the Elburn train station, would you want to? It's like, a twenty minute drive." "Um, sure?" "Okay. Because I want to come back sometimes and NOT have my family know. So, yeah." I offered him our couch for one of those weekends. But gawd, I'm going to miss him. I KNOW he's only going to Chicago, but still.
Agenda for today? Go to WalMart for an hour or so and hand out flyers for a Music Boosters' fundraiser during Corn Fest. ...Yes, my town has CornFest. We are all about the corn.

GRUJTJIWESHOJTKWSGUOPETO.
That's me banging my head into the keyboard.
School started and it's alright. I just finished my summer homework for AP Humanities and AP Gov tonight, it's due tomorrow. Swell, right? Yes, I know that I procrastinate.
CornFest was lame. Again. Like it has been the past few years. I don't think it raining an hour or so before we went helped anything, but y'know. The carnival where all the rides were was JAM PACKED with middle school kids. It was kind of scary.
One of my best friends was back from college, he loves it there. We hung out Saturday night, it was fun.
Oh. So the colorguard might not (read as: probably will not) be performing at our first home football game this Friday. Why? Because we have a stupid coach. End of story. We worked so effin' hard at bandcamp and becuase she fell through and is halfassing things, we won't be able to perform. Thanks.
Yeah. I'm in a terrible state right now.
Oh, and the daily fact thing? Not working. Partly because I can't think of new things everyday that are halfway interesting. And I don't think anyone will read them. I'll update those every now and again, but meh.

So. I left my house at 7:10 yesterday morning.
And I didn't come home until 8 tonight.
We had our first football game yesterday. Our team one 48-0. Now. This is the team that never wins. We won twice last year, none the year before, and my freshmen year...one game. And at the away game last week we were creamed 35-7, that touchdown being made at the end of the fourth quarter. It was a fluke. The other team SUCKED. Like, MAJORLY. It was rather sad. They didn't have any fans. The only people sitting in their side of the stands was their sophomore team.
But the field show went fairly well. We finally got our jazz pants and flags for the performance. I only messed up once, it was out of surprise that the trumpet line in front of me actually MOVED when they were supposed to (at the rehearsals I wasn't able to do that 8-count of flagwork because they wouldn't move when they were supposed to).
Then I went to the bonfire at a band kid's house and have amusing pictures of band kids trying to roast marshmallows for s'mores. After that, Erika and I went to her house and crashed there. This morning, we woke up at 11:30 and gave her kitty a flea bath. D: She sat there and let us pour the water on her and shampoo her, but she cried so loudly and looked so sad.
And then we left for a parade, it was lame and I really didn't want to march it. I'm tired. And we were about 10 feet behind an old-school firetruck because the drum majors kept pushing the band right up against us and so now I'm feeling the effects of marching an entire parade while breathing in exhaust fumes. Not pleasant.

Once again, another weekend that I didn't enjoy.
Damn you, band. I mean, I love performing but this is ridiculous.
Every Friday this month we have a game and then these past two Saturdays have been filled by band as well. Last week, a parade. Yesterday, Band Day at NIU. Not to mention that Friday night we got back to the school from our cross-town rivalry game at 11:30 and needed to be back at 7:30 the next morning. HOW LAME.
So Band Day was waste of time, the routine the guards learned consisted of 4 different moves. The other two songs we stood at parade rest because the Silverettes (NIU's dance team) performed. And then there's the whole thing about the guard completely disregarding the captains (one of which is me) and it was far more emotionally stressful than anything. Really, we (the captains, there are two of us) would like to quit right now. Anyhow.
So this morning I woke up with the worst cramps ever. My toes were cramped up. I feel sick besides that, too.
I'm off to go finish my roll of film for Photos before it rains.

Finally, a weekend to myself where I got to do what I wanted to.
SRSLY. I woke up at 10 yesterday, lounged, and then Jared picked me up so we could meet with the play director and clean teh soundbooth out. I know that doesn't sound like fun, but the director is awesome and it was Jared. Good times. And it didn't take too long. Mom picked me up and we shopped and such.
I got a shirt for National Talk Like A Pirate Day, but with my luck, I won't have a voice to do so this year (which is what happened last year). Anyhow, it's a nice pirate-y shirt.
Today there was practice for the recorder choir for Madrigals, that's always amusing. It was not too great for me. I'm rather sick right now and can't breathe properly and such, so that didn't go well.
And I got a haircut. 4-5inches cut off. That's a lot.
I honestly had no idea how long my hair was until Erika said, "Christine, cutting off 'an inch or two' will get it no where near your shoulder. I think you have more hair than you think." And so I did.
But I like my hair. ^.^

I turn 18 in 10 days.
Yep, it's October. This year has gone SO fast.
I've got my homecoming dress. It's really simple but hey, I look hot in it. It's knee-length, red ribbon on teh hem and red ribbon with a bow around the waist. Spaghetti straps. Lace tulle showing under the hem. I'm wearing pearls with it and black heels. Yepyep.
Sweet, I just found string cheese in the fridge.
We have one more game left of teh season- in two weeks. i finally get a week WITHOUT football. heck yes. My kitten has fleas. D: So I have to give her a bath every few days. She hates water.
Yah, there's like, tons more going on in my life, but I can't think of anything else.

Whoa- say that again, please, and slower?
Seriously, everything is flying by me right now. SO MUCH HAS HAPPENED.
Kay. So last Wednesday I turned 18. Chinese food and cheesecake equals love, people. Really. And nighttime rehearsal that night was FREEZING (and pointless, but more on that later).
Thursday I went home right after school instead of going to march in the Homecoming parade- I had a gawd-awful migraine and couldn't see straight, so I went home and slept for a lifetime. That night my best friend and I (both of us were captains) talked about how colorguard has turned into a bunch of bullshit and really, we can't take anymore.
We quit guard. The morning of the Homecoming game, which also would have been our last game. How's that for making a statement, eh? And it was great, we sat down and talked to our director for a half hour about how we felt and before we even said "We can't take this anymore," he said to us: "If you don't come to the game tonight, I completely understand. Go to Starbucks, to Borders, get yerself a nice sandwich and relax. If anyone asks questions, it's been cleared by me." We went to the game anyway, but we sat two sections over with two friends. Yah. But note that we did not quit marching band, she is now maarching flute and I am now marching clarinet. We were both fitted for uniforms today.
AND I AM SO HAPPY RIGHT NOW. I've found that cutting guard out of my life has also lead to a decline in swearing like a sailor.
OH OH OH. I auditioned for District Band on Saturday morning. And today we got partial results, saying who made it (but not how well we scored, we get that later)... AND I MADE IT. I can't wait to see if I go to State.
And Homecoming was Saturday, that was a lot of fun. As soon as I get my pictures, I'll put them up. ^.^
