"Where's my son?" Anhur asked his companion after looking around the enclosed meadow.

"I got rid of that little berry pest," the mare answered. "He was too weak to be of any use to use."

The stallion looked at her in disbelief. "He was barely a rock, "he said in anger, rearing up and lashing out at the air with his hooves. "You disguest me. What did you do with him?"

"I sent him away," she replied in a rather shrill voice. "I'm sure something has found him by now."

"Where did you send him?"

"I floated him down the river on a rather large tree branch," she said, rather maniacally. "You'll never find him, hopefully he's drowned."

Anhur glared at her for a moment, before turning his back on her. He spread his wings and leaped into the air, kicking dust into the mare's face. He turned around. "If I ever see you again," He spat, in an angry tone,"I will kill you." He glided away, putting as much distance between him and that mare as he could.

He finally stopped at a small cave on the edge of the river. He was horribly upset, and was praying that his precious son hadn't drowned. He knew the small rock's chances of surviving that trip had to be slim, but he had nothing to live for if he couldn't at least hope that the young one had survived.

Smokey snorted and hopped daintily off of the portch. She needed to get away from the crowdedness of the christmas decorations. Pretty as they were, she had enough. She trotted onwards untill she was out of sight of the house and slowed to a walk.

Ahnur glided down from his cave. He was planning on searching for his son, and perhaps meet some of the inhabitants of the ranch. He had been observing the ranch for several days, and had concluded that if his son was anywhere, it would be somewhere around the ranch.

He could see a rather pretty mare taking a walk away from the main houses. He landed softly next to her, trying not to startle the mare. "May I join you?" he asked.

Smokey side steped slightly as the stalion landed next to her. Confused she looked at the taller stalion, she had never been to tall. She blinked a few times before nodding her head. Um...sure. Who are you? She hoped that she hadn't sounded rude. She was just surprised and and the word flooded out.

"I am Anhur," the stallion answered. "May I know yours?" He smiled at the mare. "I hope I have not interupted you."

Smokey smiled. This stalion was cute and very polite. No your not interupting me. Your quite alright. She said replying to his question. My name is Smokey. It is a pleasure to meet you, Anhur.

"It is a pleasure to meet you as well." He smiled and glanced around the area. It was rather a pretty sight, even with the trees having only a few leaves left on them. "Do you live here on this ranch?" He asked, wanting to know more about the mare and this place.

Smokey smiled. Yes, its a nice place to be. Though there are alot more horses here now. Theres allways room for more. Its like we don't run out of room. She took a glance around this area of the ranch as well and smiled. It was allways quite peacefull here.

"Perhaps it's enchanted." He commented. "So, there are a lot of horses here? I don't suppose you've met a little berry colored male, he's probably a foal by now." He forced a smile, thinking of his son was hard for him, but he knew that he had to talk about him in order to find him.

Smokey shook her head. No Im sorry. I haven't. Ill keep an eye out for him though.

"I would appreciate that," Ahnur said softly. "Do you have any family around here, or perhaps a herd that you belong to?" He was simply curious, and hoped that the mare knew that she could ask him questions as well. It was rather different, talking to a mare that he hadn't had to fight to even speak to, but it something he could get used to.

I don't do to well in herds. And I have no family, not any more. She tossed her mane out of her face and looked at him. So who is it exactly your looking for? Do you your self belong to a herd? Though she saw no other horses around it was always good to ask.

"I was in a herd once, when I was a child, but the lead horse kicked me out as soon as he felt I was a threat. I don't particually care for them anymore." He smiled at the mare. "And as for who I'm looking for, it's my son."

Smokey nodded. So what is your sons name? So I know what to call him by if, and when I see him? She wanted to help him find his son. She wasn't sure how it felt to miss a child but she knew how it felt to miss a loved one. Surely it wasn't much diferent.

Ahnur looked down at the ground. "I don't know." he admitted. "I didn't have a chance to name him before it happened." He hadn't spoken of his loss to anyone, and wasn't exactly sure if he should tell her what happened or not. In one way, he felt like he could trust the mare, but in another way, years of being in the wild had taught him not to trust anything. He decided to see how Smokey would react to his first comment before he told her anything else.

Smokey smiled softly. Im sorry. Thats gotta be tough, not getting to name your own son. But, if you don't mind me asking Ahnur, what do you mean by "before it happend?" She pressed her shoulder against his forreasurance and comfort.

"I don't mind," Ahnur answered. "It doesn't bother me as much to think about now, than when it first happened." He paused. "We were staying in an enclosed valley by the river, and I had left to explore the area. My son was with my companion, and when I returned, I couldn't find him. She told me she got rid of him, and that she floated him down the river. I don't know that he's even alive, but," he paused, and blinked away the tears that were begining to flow, "I didn't find his rock anywhere in the river."

My lord thats terible! How could any one be so heartless as to toss a rock in a river? She nuzzled his neck and liftedhis head up. Shall we search? She felt determined to find this little colt right now. She didn't like to see him like tis, though she had only just met him.

He nuzzled her back. "You would do that?" he asked. "You would help someone you just met." He was surprised that the mare would do this, although rather pleased that she had offered. "I would like that." he said, "although I don't know where to begin."

Its not a problem. I want to help. She smiled and replied thoughtfully What about by the river? Mabey we would find traces of him?

He thought about it for a moment. "That's not a bad idea, if nothing else it gives us a place to start." He smiled and began to walk towards the river area.

The young foal was currently catching snowflakes, in a clearing by the river. He was watched over closely by Bahiti, a wild dog that apparently didn't trust the young horse not to get into trouble.

Smokey walked into the clearing and smiled. She nosed Ahnur andlooked at the berry coloured foal.

Ahnur stared at his son for a moment. He was no longer a foal, but wasn't an adult quite yet. "Do you think I should talk to him?" he asked, unsure about the whole thing.

Smokey smiled at the adolecantIts better late than never. She said turning to Anhur.Ill stay here. You go and re-unite with your son.

Ahnur smiled. "Thanks."

He walked over to the adolescent, slightly nervous. "Hi." he said simply. "I am Ahnur."

Akori looked at the older stallion. "Do I know you?" he said, pausing in his playing. "You seem familiar."

"You did once," he said. "Before you were taken from me."

"So it wasn't a dream," Akori said thoughtfully. "You're my father. I need to think about this." He turned and started to walk off. "My name's Akori. I'll find you when I'm ready, father."

"Alright, I'll be around her for a while." He watched his son walk off before turning to Smokey. "Well, that went well."

Smokey nuzzled him. He will need some time to get used to the fact that you found him and arent to far from him.

"I know." He said, nuzzling her back. "and at least he didn't reject me." He smiled. "So, would you mind showing me around?"

Smokey smiled. I would be verry happy to give you a tour. She said blowing in his wings. She trotted up ahead of him aways and whinnied.

Anhur whinnied back, and raced after her. He knew he could catch up with her in an instant if he took to the skies, but he was in a playful mood and it pleased him to stay on the ground.

Smokey smiled and rand beside him when he cought up. Happy to not be so alone. She actually got along with this stalion. She wasnt to keen on other horses. But he seemed okay.

As the two horse ran, he was thinking. He was intrigued by the mare, and, if he were to admit it to himself, starting to become fond of her. She had a spirit to rival his own and a kind heart. "So, shall we race?"

Smokey laughed. Lets go! she said happily to his question. She was having as much fun as she could remember scince coming to the ranch. She streached her legs and pressed on.

He grinned and began to run faster, attempting to pass the mare. He clearly was at a disadvantage on the ground, but that didn't bother him. He was having fun.

Smokey galloped on but slowed a few minuts later. She slowed to a stop and bent her head to drink some snow.

He ran past her, not realizing she had stopped. He turned back when he realized and walked over to where she was drinking some snow. He pawed at the ground, uncovering a patch of grass that had been buried underneath it. He nibbled at it, while he waited for her to finish drinking.

Smokey looked over to Anhur and smiled. Then layed down. She was a bit worn out.
