Like my friends here stated. I got stuck too, then I realized I was SUPPOSED to use the bright shard.
You say you can get orichalcum from the Vending Machine heartless?

I found lots of Orichalcum in twilight town undergrond and in the mansion.

I actually realized something.
In the previews for KH2, in the cutscene where Sora is fighting Roxas in The World that Never Was, he had the Ultima Weapon. Though it's impossible to have one when you get that far into the game.
