I've still to see it. I just hate paying so much money on a ticket that is pretty much half of what the DVD will cost when it comes out.

I have such inner battles over that problem.
I love the comunal experience of going to the cinema...but then I know if I love the film I see enough then I'll want it on DVD... maybe my ideal film experience is going to the cinema but only kinda liking the film. But then that doesn't sound quite right.

Also, the films I skipped at the cinema intending to catch up on them later is growing out of controll...I've yet to see House of Flying Daggers, Garden State, or I heart Huckabees.

You might want to take a pass on HOFD, Doreen. Out of the recent period fantasy martial arts films, it's easily the weakest. It takes the concept of weaving a plot full of mystery, intrigue, and double crossing so far that it becomes a parody of itself. crying

I love the book, and I think the movie did it justice. It wasn't EXACTLY the same but you can't expect a Sin City all the time. It left it open for a sequel and they left the whale scene in there, which is my favorite part of the books.

Something I've been wondering...does the film just cover the first book or go into material from any of the others?
It's pretty much the first book, but the whole part with the sneezing religion was only mentioned in the book, not elaborated on.

But...colours look so pretty...

Seriously, thanks for the warning...I'll prioritise other chunks of my massive cinematic backlog first.

I'm still recovering from the end of Hero
"Noooo! I was loving this film! It can't turn out to be pro-Imperialist! I have to politically hate it now!" (Still, more evidence for the next time I get into one of those good-art-can-be-immoral debates I often seem to find myself in on the comics board)

Still the two films I'm absolutely going to get off my arse over the next couple of months and see at the flicks are Sin City when it FINALLY makes it over here, and The League of Gentlemen's Appocalypse because it'll be so weird to see the characters from that show in a movie, and that weirdness will be best experienced by seeing in in a cinema.
