Both sides annoy me to tell you the truth. I mean, I get pissed when people insist I shouldn't like Winslow "because he's ugly" and that I'll "come to [my] senses one day and thing 'what the hell was I thinking, liking him like that?'," so, yes. It's terribly moronic when people are like "OMG TEH PHANTUM IS SO BETTAH DEN ROUL YOO SO STOOPID TO LIKE ROUL" etc., but it's also kind of wrong and a bit discourteous for her to bash all people who like Erik better than Raoul. Honestly, I wonder why people can't say "Okay, I like Raoul, you like Erik, we're all good," and let it go.
And...it's not the "Deal with it" part of her signature that really bothers me. (It doesn't. At all. I accept that she's making a statement.) It's where she calls Erik fans "losers" that seems rather unnessecary. I mean, as I said, if you expect people to be alright with your liking Raoul, you had better be prepared to accept that they like Erik in return.

Again, maybe it's just me, but I saw that as more saying that those specific Erik fans who sent the pms were losers, not that they all were.

PhantomoftheFox I really don't see what's wrong with ApI's comment. Her signature says she likes Raoul better than Erik... not that Erik is better than Raoul, not that she doesn't like Erik at all, nothing like that... and yet she still gets 36 messages from people trying to 'defend' Erik. Just from her liking someone else better than him. Am I the only one who finds something a little sad about that? And if they're anything like the ones I got when I had my 'Raoul Phan Club' icon, they're predominantly rude and illiterate, and full of rants about how Raoul sucks and how much better Erik is. Furthermore, I didn't see anything about how Phantom supporters in general are losers, just a comment that the ones who pmed her were. It was the losers bit that got me because it seemed she was addressing major Phantom-supporters as losers. But it's the internet and without proper toning and stressing to be heard, there can be misunderstandings. In this fandom, it's a continual war as I've noticed. One side is for Raoul, the other for Erik. There are few who are neutral or both. Not only that, but the fandom picks up a lot of teenagers because of ALW and the Gothic Romance which everyone just seems to engorge themselves on these days. So naturally stakes are high and tempers are flaring. Any little thing will be taken as a slap to the face and for the other person to automatically slap back. It's nothing we can help, honestly. Neither side are losers. It's the people themselves that will be labeled as such for their actions.

Roul is overrated....he is such a sissy in the book. he's always crying instead of thinking of something to do, and then there's the whole I love you but can't be with you scene on the roof. Bleh...

Bleh... Raoul is not a sissy... Can't be with you? What is that supposed to mean? Raoul loved her and Christine was being pulled back by Erik. Raoul would fight for her. Annnd I am netrual-ish, but more for Erik. I don't yell at people who like Raoul (one of my friends on here is for Raoul). I think she meant losers for people who try to defend Erik, but end up making reasons that can not be backed up by anything.

I'm talking about Christne; she has the chance to get away that same night too but nooooo she wants to stay and sing for him instead. Which spars the whole rest of the book. I'm not really for either couple, for reasons far to numerous to count. Rhoul seems like he never grew up; still hot headed and crys when he doesn't get his way, and Erik is a mentally deranged psycho path with good reason. Over all it's a ROMANTIC DRAMA...which I have a love hate relationship for. o.0

It's not a romantic drama. It is a horror/mystery. Christine pitied Erik. That's why she wanted to sing one more time. Raoul's only in his twenties and he never experianced something like that before. Back then it was okay for men to cry like that. (Erik sobs in the last couple chapters) Raoul isn't hot headed. From a dictionary: Quote: Easily angered; quick-tempered Of course he would be angry by this because from his point of view it is some freaky guy kidnapping the one he loves. You would get mad if that happened to you, right? I know I would.

|If you need me|
I've gotten past the point of being a fanatical ECer...It's still my preference, but I realize that Raoul and Christine were truly in love. Erik- not meaning to downplay him or anything, because I do adore him- is infatuated with Christine. He is stalkeresque, because he has never been in love before, and sadly enough it is one-sided. Raoul and Christine both love each other.
Generally I agree with Thorn Venatrix. Erik finally understands that love is sacrifice. Sad but true.

What Beth and WtMH said.
And yes, the endless fight between the Raoul fans and the Erik fans gets on my nerves sometimes. Like, debates are fine (I for one get a huge kick out of debating) but when one is bashing the other or vice versa it just becomes rather pointless. I mean, there's no hard proof that one character is better than the other. I mean, can we just deal with the fact that different people like different things and get on with our lives.
Note: I didn't say anything against this thread or the debating of opinions. Just the bashers who seem to come in and say the same things they've said thousands of times over, using bad grammar and whatnot. That gets tiresome. But I digress. We might as well get back to the actual discussion.

I love debating too.
People who say the same things over and over again after I explained otherwise gets me annoyed. Or even the mispelling of the character's names when they are written right in front of them. sweatdrop

I like to spelling things incorrectly. I have taken up a career in making new words and easier spellings. Forgive my sarcaism; I'm just lazy.

Captian Elizabeth Jones I like to spelling things incorrectly. I have taken up a career in making new words and easier spellings. Forgive my sarcaism; I'm just lazy. Sweety, not to be rude, but I would really suggest you get your facts straight before you start accusing things as you were in previous posts. You could easily spark a fight, which I will not appreciate in the slightest. Savvy?

Um...I did not start a fight with my friend with my friend BECAUSE she liked EC...I love the EC pairing, but in reality, it wouldn't happen. I wasn't saying "Stop going crazy!" Even though that is what she said to me, I actually started this because she called me "Mindless" and "crazy" for telling her that EC realtionships would never work. I agree with everything you guys said, about the EC supporters and the RC supporters. I really like the EC pairing, because as I said in the debate Erik needs someone, and Christine was there, but Raoul and Christine loved each other. Christine didn't love Erik, and people can still say she did, but please don't debate by saying the same thing over and over.

I agree, Uta. ^^
Spelling things incorrectly annoys the heck out of me. I'll spell something wrong every once in a while, but not if the word/name is in front of my face.
Captian... you misspelt Raoul twice in two different ways. Roul and Rhoul. And I spelt it correctly when I responded to you're post and everyone was talking about him using the correct spelling.
@ Mme.: You are not 'mindless' or 'crazy' like your friend said. No one is 'mindless' or 'crazy' just because their opinion is different from someone else.

Mme., don't worry. This usually happens. One side of the battle field is E/C, the other is R/C. When they clash, there's blood and text. But we shall keep a friendly little convo. ^^
