My conclusion?
Telnet sucks. I need to download a proper MUD-client.
Any recommendations?
sweatdrop I don't really know. Most clients are designed for different...things. Telnet works fine so long as you are *nix-based. Unfortunately, Windows is not. So, my only recommendation is to find some sort of telnet client, which I think windows has, except it's buried somewhere deep and mysterious in the bits it tells you not to touch. Or perhaps it's somewhere obvious, but I don't have Windows so I can't check.
In any case, I'm afraid the tables of compatibility have turned in favour of Mac.
Actually, that's awesome for me, but not for the majority of users.Perhaps the Wikipedia entry on
TELNET will help?
EDIT: Turns out Windows
does have Telnet, accessible through the command prompt, but be Vista people be warned! Not only have you wasted money on rubbish, but now that my anti-Microsoft propaganda has been released, I may tell you that the telnet client is an optional install as of RC1.
Ouch.
Oh, and the server may be down for indefinate periods until I find a way to have both my 360 and my Mac connected to teh interweb at the same time. And yes, I own an Xbox 360 and criticize Microsoft. Off-topic-ness continued in white.
I like the games and ability to download playable demos, I hate the ridiculous over-hype and constant attempts to create an artificial sense of community. And the Xbox Guide, which appears just as you try to snipe someone, then freezes on you as you scream into your headset for it to go away, and only unfreezes as soon as your insides are decorating the walls.
