Not really a challenge, but a fun exercise: Reach over and grab the nearest book. Flip to page 96, or some other random page. Write down every 20th word. Use those words to form your own poem.
You don’t have to use all the words, but you can if you want. And be sure to mix ‘em up! That is, if you want to. wink

*laugh* I'm trying to keep this thread alive because I sold my book of poetry exercises back last semester gonk so I need some free ones. wink Poetry Challenge: (This one's stolen from my sister. It's her favorite.) Pick a color. Make a word list of as many different synonyms for that word that you can. (example: red, scarlet, maroon, cardinal, crimson, communist, etc.) Compose a poem using one of those words on each line. Try and use them in as many different ways as possible. (for instance, not all as adjectives.) Here's an example: Spidre Cardinal SinPiping red hot voice A staccato wine; Her head’s ruby thick and tough as a brick, Candy apple sweet with a cherry pit, Her heart on her sleeve But loves to believe; in gentle rogue souls, and cinnamon rolls. Her cedar fresh scent fills claret noses. Tastes of peppermintand candy roses. Scarlet design for her carmine mind filled with russet silk moons, rusty silver snares, and maroon sand dunes. Apple of your eye She’s got you beet, dance on your garnet feet, bouncing chestnut hair, blood rushes, wave her mauve hands in the air, crimson flushes, and blushes on her cheek, No communist could ever be so red.

Strange topic that I get from a friend a long time ago.
Write a story/scene about a purple box and how it pertains to life and existence.
