That evening, after most were out of the galley, Westra pulled out her sharpened knives, and set up a row of targets, lemons for the tea the next day.
She selected five paring knives, and walked to the other side of the galley and faced the wall. After a few deep breaths to steady herself, she spun around quickly, and face the cabinet lined with lemons. 'Ftttt', 'Ffftt', 'Fwwttt'! With a flick of her wrists, she launched the knives through the air. 'Snick' 'Snick' ' Snick.. Into all five lemons, the knives went right through the centers.
Satisfied with her practice for one night, she sat down at the table, and went over her supply list one more time, of every thing that might be needed on a long sea voyage.

Early the next morning, before the sun was up, Destiny climbed down into the practice hold. As she stood before the padded posts, she stretched each muscle out, then began her workout.
Quickly she began laying down punches onto the posts-One-two, twist, back-kick, punch, duck, dodge, block.. That was her routine for the next hour.
After she had worked off her agressions, she stretched, and went back to the galley to prepare breakfast.

*After watching her get out all of her worked up aggresions, he approaches her.*

"Better now? Well, of any sort... I would like to request an omelette for breakfast."

Destiny glanced up in surprise! She hadn't realized anybody was watching her..
Her face flushed, and then she said " Of course, you're the captain. What would you like in your omlette?"
" suprise me"
" Very well, have a seat, and I'll get to work on your breakfast."
She pulled out a chair in the dining room for the captain, and then dashed back to the galley to prepare his food.
First she sliced and diced two potatoes, and deep fried them. Next, she sliced some mushrooms, onions, sausage, ham, and grated some cheese. Then she cracked two eggs, and got to work on the omlette.
It took her 15 minutes, but when she was done, the captain's breakfast was a work of art. She garnished the omlette with sprigs of parsley, placed a small dish of sour cream on the side, piled the potatoes on the other side, and lightly salted and peppered the entire dish.
Grabbing a set of silverware, and her supply list, she carried the meal out to the Captain's table.
" Here you go sir, I hope the meal meets with your approval. Here is the list of supplies that I think will be needed if we ever set sail." She set the plate, and the list down in front of the Captain, and waited for him to take a bite.

Destiny sat down next to the captain, waiting for him to take a bite, and tell her if it was up to standards. While she was waiting, she began to talk :
" Glad you came down Captain. The galley seems to be a bit empty, and I don't see much action down here. I was wondering, since cooking doesn't take up that much time, would it be proper to take more advanced blade training from the swordmaster? Although, how often would a cook need to know that? But if you ever need me in a battle, not much good I would be, all I know is how throw a knife, and use one in close quarters. A longer blade would provide better defense..." She was rambling, and she knew it.. she was nervous. Ever since coming on board, this was only the second time she had met the Captain.

*at the same time destiny and the cap'n are in a heated discussion, kubain comes and sits at the table next to them and closes his eyes. He then overhears destiny in need of a swordmaster, then his ears peak up as he opens one eyeto look towards them*
hm....ergh!
*after being out on the ocean with no food for quite some time, Kubain finally realizes that his stomach is crying out for nourishment, in the sound of a loud roar, as he grasps his stomach*
i guess im hungrier then i thought...argh...

Destiny hears a rumble from the table behind her and jumps up, and turns around.
" Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't hear you come in. What can I Get for you for lunch. I have ham sandwiches and fried poatoe wedges, or a lovely green salad and sea green goddess dressing. What is your pleasure sailor?"

*thinks it over*
do you have any halibut? if you do, then can i have 8 oz. of that with some of that salad? thanks much, lass
PostPosted: Sat Oct 15, 2005 5:45 pm

Destiny paused for a moment, and thought. ....She did have some fish, but that was for supper... Oh well, she'd find something else for supper.
" Certainly sir, it'll be a few minutes for the fish. I'll bring your salad out first."
Destiny went back to the galley, and set the oven to broil, and selected a halibut filet, and set it in a shallow baking dish, sprinkeled it with dried herbs and a twist of lemon juice, and just a hint of butter, and set it in the oven to cook. While it was broiling, she set about creating a light fall salad, with apple pieces and walnuts as a garnish.
Just about the time the salad was done, the fish was ready. She pulled it out of the oven, and transfered both salad and fish to a carrying tray, and took both out to Kubain.
" Here you go sir. I hope it meets your approval." She set salad and fish before him, and stepped back.

Kubain

PostPosted: Sat Oct 15, 2005 6:08 pm

*his food was waiting, and he was anxious to eat. Kubain smelled the aroma of the food, and poped up with delight*
Smells good...very good...need something to drink...
*he walks off onto the deck, arriving moments later a bottle of rum, fresh from his bag 'o' rum*
Ah, now I'm ready, thank you lass...
*he takes the first bite of the meal, taking his fork and knife, he slices a peice of the fish, then with his fork, picks up the fish, along with some of the salad, then inserts it into his mouth, and chews*((commentray on eating...fun times >.< ))
*chonp-chomp* Oh, i have to say this is exquisite! Very tasty indeed!
*he bows his head to destiny, with a smile on his face and mouth bulging, full of food. He then swollows it, then begins to eat some more*
PostPosted: Mon Oct 17, 2005 7:09 am

" I'm glad the food meets your approval sir. By the way,if its not a bother while your eating, when I mentioned to the Captain that I was looking to take further lessons from the swordmaster, I noticed that you perked your ears. Could it be sir, that you are a swordmaster? Could you possible give me lessons with a longer blade than these knives?"
Destiny pulled out her fighting knives. The blades were only 19 inches long, and slighly curved. They were double-eged blades, with each edge honed to razor-sharpness. The handgrips were custom-designed to fit her hands, wrapped in blood-red and black leather.
" What do you say Kubain? Will you teach me?"

*He looks at destiny after swollowing the last bite and chuging the last it of his rum*
After having a meal like this, i would say your place is in the kitchen, not on the battlefield. But, since your so eager...

hmm

*he looks at the knives extensivly, looks around the room, then back at her*
It seems like you would be best fit for a style that focuses on the basics of self-defense...but not too much...hmmm
*he thinks some more, thinking of the different styles of martial arts and other techniques he can think of*
come see me later, and I'll have something for you...
*he stands up, then starks walking out*
come see me later, when your most prepared, I havn't decided which style to teach to you...

*Finishing off the last remaining bits of the wonderfully prepared omellete, Kurisu takes out his hankercheif and whipes away the bits of crumbs from his lips. Hearing how much Ms. IJoans wants to learn the sword, he scoots back the chair and turns in his seat to face her.*

"Wonder...ful... simply marvelous omellete... thank you.

Well, Ms. IJoans... the fact that you know nothing of the use of a blade is unfortunate. Damned Unfortunate. BUT, we will see this solved. If nothing else... I, myself will teach you basic boarding swordplay. It'll keep you on your toes and alive, come action. In the meantime, seeing as how Kubain here seems interested in taking on a student, I think it better if he helps you hone & perfect your knife fighting skills before you start on a blade. As I've always said,"One must always learn to walk before they run. Or else, they trip and fall and hurt themselves, and it turns into a big ordeal that no one really wants a part of, and all is lost in the end." So, in short Ms. IJoans, yes... your request is granted. Now, I must return to the Quarterdeck, or else the Officer of the Watch will end up running us aground on some desloate shoul and all the officers shant know what in the blazes to do. Have a good day Ms. IJoans. Come to me when your ready for your training, and feel free to come on deck for some sunlight."

*With that, he pulled himself upright and dashed into the sunlight ondeck*

Destiny took the chalk the Captain had set on the table, and began to write the menu for this week aboard ship.
- Dried Biscuits and Grog
- Fish Stew with herbs and biscuits
- Seaweed Salad with Scale dressing
- Officer's Desert for this week: Blueberry muffins

Hmm.. she thought to herself. Not very appetizing, but what I can do with the limited pantry that I have. I should have checked before we left port about the supplies, or maybe I shouldn't have fed people such large meals. I don't know. I'm only 17 after all... *sighs* Oh well, I'm sure I"ll keep learning, and trying to work my way up to an officer's position.
