"Unnngh..." Slowly the pup regained her mobility. At the sudden sound of the other's voice, she nearly backflipped in an attempt to get away* "FIEND! STAY BACK!" she cried as she huddled close to the ground, her ears pinned back and her eyes wide with fear. After a few seconds she seemed to recognize him again. Not a demon. Not a phantom. His nose was damp, he was breathing, and he didn't glow in the dark. He had a distinctive smell. He was... alive. For a moment, she calmed. Then, the sudden realization that there was actually another Hyena present stood up all the hair on her spine. She had never met another hyena before. She could hardly remember her family at all; they had not spent long together. She felt suddenly very awkward. She had no idea what the proper behavior was when meeting another of her species. She had only one hope, to imitate him and hope that was the right response. Perhaps their game of copycatting wasn't quite over yet... "H...H......... hello" she stuttered in a soft voice.

Zin flinched back as the other mumbled something incomprehensible, and then yelled some rather nonsensical things into the air. Fiend? Where? There was no one, no one but him and this other hyena anyways...
But enough with all that foolishness, the other soon regained her senses and Zin was delighted enough when it whispered a greeting to him. That was more like it! Leaning ever closer to her, the black and white hyena pup puffed into the air, "I'm Zin" he said bluntly. "Who are you?"
Zin was quite interested in the little pup shivering before him, and looked on, puffs of his breath turning into ice crystals in the cool night air.

She glanced over her shoulder as if looking to see if perhaps there was still a phantom in the area, but she saw nothing but the stars. She turned back to him, her ears perked foreward. "Z... Zin?" she tried out the name. For a moment she stared blankly at him, as if still not sure he was entirely real, then realized she ought to respond with her own name "I'm Mokwi. " She said softly, shifting uncomfortably.

"Mokwi... it's nice to meet you," Zin said softly, ears wiggling with curiosity. He had good manners for a pup so young, and no parents to teach him either, though that meant no good influences nor bad influences, so it all worked out in the end. Ahh, good, so now the two hyena pups were acquainted, though certain a strange acquaintence under the circumstances.
The black and white hyena pup shifted his weight back so he was not leaning so close to the other, allowing her some space to get comfortable. Make no mistake though, Zin was still watching her every move, eager to pick up on some new things he would be able to imitate. Old habits never die, they say. "What are you doing here...?" Zin wondered outloud.

The pup was beginning to feel more at ease as she adjusted to the situation, however strange. Her ears were perked to the sides, listening to the whispers of the night. Indeed, she seemed not to hear his question at first, but responded after a moment. "uh? oh! um... I... I guess I'm kind of lost." She glanced around, still seeming uncomfortable. She was lost, indeed, but she had no where to go to. Not anymore. Even if the foul odor of smoke no longer clung to her fur, she felt she would never smell anything else. Her eyes clouded in these thoughts, then she seemed to snap out if it. "So... do you know where we are?"

Where they were? What a strange question this other pup was asking of him, Zin thought. Of course he didn't know were they were, really, he thought the whole point of his wonders was to be lost... lost to himself, and lost to the world.
So he shook his head at her, a peculiar look upon his face. "Nope, I have no idea where we are." The black and white hyena pup waited patiently for the nervous look from Mokwi's eyes to disappear. Really, she oughtn't be this nervous, he meant her no harm...

She looked a little surprised and slightly disappointed. "Oh... well... I guess that's ok then." A thoughtfulness touched her eyes for a moment, then she managed to summon a nervous smile. "It is a beautiful night though..." The wind ruffled through the grasses, causing them to rustle softly. Somewhere a waterbuffalo lowed. Yes, it was beautiful. And normal. Nothing evil afoot this night, she reassured herself. She turned her eyes to the young male hyena, as if for the first time. He was rather nice, despite the awkwardness of their encounter. Something felt... right about him.
She noticed she'd been staring at him for several minutes and turned awkwardly away*

Zin glanced toward the sky. Now that she had mentioned it, yes, it was a beautiful night, unusually so for the sky was exceptionally clear tonight. The stars shone brightly overhead. The pup stared at them in a certain kind of amazement, and peacefulness began to fill him. "Uh-hum," he mumbled a reply to the other who was besides him. He turned to look at her at that second, just in time to see her turn awkwardly away.
Ehh? Zin was puzzled, and show it by wiggling his ears a bit. It was nothing probably, but he did feel a certain kind of connected to this strange female pup whom he had chanced upon in the middle of nowhere. "So, are you headed somewhere?" he asked; she had said she was lost, so she must have been going somewhere before she got lost. If you weren't going anywhere, then you couldn't be lost, right?

(school is BAD)
After a moment of thought, she shook her head. "No... I suppose not. I guess it doesnt matter much then. " She forced up a smile and glanced back over at him. The starlight caught in her off-blue coat, giving her a pastel aura. Her silver eyes reflected his face and the stars scattered beyond his visage. There was a slight hint of sadness in her smile.

(heh, I know. xD Maybe we should wrap this rp up and start a new one, since both of them has grown...)
"Looks like we are in the same boat," the monochromed little hyena said, feeling a sudden surge of happiness beyond his own comprehension. His deep emerald eyes shimmered in the moon light, a look of sudden attentiveness to them. "Hey..." Zin begun, unsure of what he was about to say next, "since we are all kind of wandering... maybe we could do it together?"
He surely hoped that the other hyena pup would agree; it was a big world for a hyena pup to walk alone after all.

(Yea, I was thinking the same thing lol xD)
"together?" The word echoed in her mind. There was a sudden surge of reluctance, yet... excitement, and perhaps hope, welling deep in her soul. Was it worth a chance? She was answered by the attentive, confident eyes. Yes... perhaps it was time to start anew. To move on. Her ears perked and she smiled.
"Yes... I think that's a great idea." The wind caught up her fur.

((awesome! Ooo, I gotta ask something.... do you think Mokwi would want to join the clan/pack/thing Zin's in?))
Zin's heart summersaulted; just the answer he was hoping. Joy swelled into his heart, along with the promise of a companion for the future. Zin was more happy and in ways relieved than he had been in a long time. Yes, it was definitely a time to start anew...
"Come!" the pup clamored in an unusually lighthearted squeal, "Let's go!" And with that he rushed headlong into the dark night, into the future.
((Le end. Feel free to add your own ending though. ^-^))
