Memo To Alpha

Re: Jamie's Progress (Lab Memo)

First off, I feel it necessarily to say you are b***h. Alpha, you spite me. Every word, ever motion, ever glance from you is a mockery you make of me. When I close my eyes I can still see you wickedly laughing in your office chair. It is all to clear in my mind the day you gave me my "beloved" project. Beloved is such an unfitting word for Jamie, she reminds me more of a crack baby than a science experiment. Nevertheless, I know how you love to be humored and you know how much I love money. Jamie is a "perk" of the job. It is for this reason I tolerate Jamie and see to it that all physical needs are taken care of. As for those needs that are of a metaphysical nature I have hired someone to ensure Jamie is amused. Tired of the small talk, yet? Right.

Below is a generic report I took the liberty of filing out. I understand how pesky it is to wade through the meaningless chatter the illiterate morons send in, so I took the liberty of simplifying the information for you.

Growth: For her size and height Jamie seems to be right on time with her peers. Peers including normal children of Gaia and those infused with the Pokemon DNA. Though remaining normal for now, I have speculations that Jamie will be shorter than most adults by the time she has reached maturity. This hypothesis, of course, stemming from the fact that Iggly Buff is small creature.

Changes/ Evolution: Currently Jamie has shown now signs of evolving into a life form of better quality or taste. This has nothing to do with her emotional status but rather her age. I am less than thrilled to assure you she is quite happy at home. Despite my best intentions, the girl clings to me like a tape worm does to the inside one's intestines. She's become so infatuated with my person, that someone unknowing of our relationship should think it *****. I could not think of a suggestion which would make my insides turn faster.

Abilities: Currently Jamie has the endowment to access her unique singing capability but lacks control. In fact, I doubt the girl realizes every time she opens her mouth the whole house takes a nap. It is a most irritating problem and one I hope is taken care of soon. Due to Jamie's lack of control and inability to understand it is only a problem when she sings, I've had to outlaw all music and singing, including my beloved Opera. Yes, all ready Alpha, I am being called upon to make what can only be known as "pure self sacrifice for my child".

Honestly, I can't even remember why I work for you anymore. I highly doubt the pay is worth the troubles you are putting me through. Who knows what untold--unpleasantness lies ahead with this child. She may burn with the scorching problems that Omega's child brings. Nor, does have the "poison" personality of Beta's. She is however, a girl, in all the worst senses. Speaking of sense...I sense my "sanity" is on the line. Thank god I was at least able to hire someone else to love her. I rue the thought of the day it tries to hug me.

Alpha, why children? Truly, it is not beyond your capabilities to bring these creatures to life at a point where they are no longer peons. Would it not be more reasonable, ethical and cost friendly to keep growth to a minimum? Alpha, children are weak, children are stupid and growing up in a society nowadays, where television raises them...well, getting the little devils to say, "How high?" when you say, "jump" is not as simple as it once used to be. I don't say this, simply because I hate the shitty squirts, Alpha. I say it only thinking of what's best for the company.

My dear, please, it is definitely worth your thought. Until then, however, I your ever humble employee will follow your wishes (no matter how distasteful they are). I "look forward" to sending these reports to you every month as much as you "look forward" to reading them. Jamie respectfully says 'HI' and the servant also sends his well wishes. I look forward to seeing your charming face about the office, and once again can't help but "pine" away until the moment your piggy eyed glasses are once again reflecting themselves in my smugged, greasy lenses.

Sincerely,

Zeta Tech

Ps. Look for the work you gave me last week on your desk. It will be there shortly.

Tech Meeting

((This is just so the Techs can sort of meet their boss, you can bring the kidlets along with. If you do, this CAN count as a child meeting for them. However it won't count as a Tech Meeting.))

"God damn it down you little brat!" The woman gave a huff before rudely shoving her latest 'success' into a room and slamming the door. She'd need to get rid of the child soon, it was too much of a bother to keep those things. Besides she had better nad more important things to worry about... Namely, meeting with her new workers. Or perhaps sponsors was a good name. Sure the trio worked for her, but they'd each been given something to keep them busy in the off-time. A bundle of joy, for free no less! She was such a good person.

Of course that was debatable when one knew that the gifts included a firestarter, toxins waiting to happen, and the nap time master. The only one who had gotten a good deal with Alpha herself, not that she was going to admit it.

Shoving a few stray strands of the pink guck that was her hair into place and shoving her glasses back up her nose she moved down the hall toward the stairs to the first floor. The woman hadn't installed an elevator, such a thing was too easily tricked into taking them to HER floor. No, she had a high security door that was the only way up there. It was private, and they weren't ever going to be given permission to go up there. Oh most certainly not. She didn't need them going through her things, or the papers she kept up there. Where she slept was her business.

Now with that aside she swept down the metal stairs, her shoes clicking as she did so. Then down the hall toward the familiar door. It was already in the 'employees only' section, but this door too had it's own tag. Meeting Room. This was where meetings with the children would take place, it had a door that led to the backyard for testing capabilities if people wished, and was close enough to the front that sponsors wouldn't see whay they shouldn't on their way here. Yes, an excellent room.

She shoved the stereotypical door open after sliding her admin keycard through and being given the little green light, then moved past some of the middle to highclass chairs which circled a round table. She liked being comfortable, so things weren't as cheap in the back. Oh sure the waiting room looked like a low-grade doctors office, but this room held a slightly nice looking display of modern art on the wall, some rather factual sheets, and those beautiful black chairs around a shiny obsidian table. Yes, it wasn't a bad view at all. Though the table was actually marble, not obsidian. Well polished marble, it wasn't flammable, and it was sturdy enough it would survive most beatings. It had passed her tests, and it wasn't too shabby looking either. The woman almost wanted to coo at the thing to praise it after she slipped into her chair near the back wall to wait. Yes, she'd called all of her workers in. She knew they must be wandering about when they'd really MEET their boss, so today was the day. Hopefully they'd be ready for what they would see.

An eccentric looking woman in her mid to late twenties with glasses that seemed to reflect the light and hide her eyes. Her hair blazed up wildly in something of a ponytail, if that's what you'd call it, and a labcoat with the tag of Alpha. If the pink hair wasn't enough the fact that she could hold an air of authority and a straight face knowing she looked like that would make almost anyone burst out laughing. Of course... they had to know better than to do that, now didn't they.

"They'd better not be late, I'm not paying them to slack off."

Omega was, to say the least, a bundle of nerves. For the first time she would be meeting her boss, the Alpha Tech, in person. The one who had accepted her job application, the one who had given her the card key, the one who supplied her with time-consuming and boredom-fighting paperwork, and the one who had so unceremoniously shoved the firebug on her.

Speaking of the firestarter. Omega shifted the dozing boy in her grasp, his head lolling against her shoulder as she dipped her hand into one pocket to search past a heavy bag of sweets, a pocketwatch, and an old key that reeked of metal to find the delicate plastic cardkey.

Looking around once, as though nervous of being caught in the midst of some unsavory act, Omega swiped the card through the magnetic stripe reader, watching the light blink from fiery red to spring green as the lock disengaged. The woman swept through, hearing the door snap sharply behind her as her sandals slapped down the hall, eyes scouring every sign on every door.

It took a while to find what she was looking for; too nervous to pay full attention to her surroundings, she somehow managed to miss the Meeting Room on her first two laps down the hall. "SO glad no one saw that," she hissed to herself, slicing the card though yet another reader before carefully pushing the heavy door open.

The room was, to say the least, impressive. Omega stopped to stare for a long moment, her gaze roving over the expensive chairs, the gleaming table, the nice art decorating the walls...

...and finally the woman waiting. Omega jumped, the Cyndaquil boy in her arms jerking awake in a flaming instant to clutch at her shirt in a sudden, wide-eyed panic, curling inward to present his fiery back to whatever threat had presented itself.

"I'm sorry," she called, scampering toward the woman with wild pink hair. "I hope I'm not late, it took a while to find a cab...um...hello, I'm...Omega." Oh, yeah. Real smooth.

The door handle jiggled a bit and a male voice told something to hush and stop touching his leg before it slid open. The man in his mid twenties slipped in with his little purle parasite following him. The kid imediately clung to his leg upong catching a glimpse of Alpha. One doesn't forget poor treatment to easily.

Beta turned to look at Alpha and ground the two stubbed lit cigerattes between his teeth. He sighed and turned to take his seat while giving the expersion of 'why am i working here again?' He took a seat adjacent of Alpha and imedeately rested his hed on his hand, still grinding the cigs.

He said nothing, he was there and on time, no need to say anything. Konig peered over the table edge to look at Alpha from a safe distance.

Zeta, whom had long since been in his office this morning looked forlornly up at the clock...half past a freckle. Not a moment too early, nor would he be late. Zeta sat there transfixed in his chair a moment or two longer schmoozing with a favored cigarette before he stood up. His movements were dull and precise as if he had done the actions he was doing now every single day of his life. A reach of the wrist, and flick of the fingers brought his lab coat up and around his body. A sway of the arm and his body instinctively shuffled its weight over to pick up a dull manila envelope which he always carried around.

Up one, two, three...the steps continued on, the whole time he kept his head foreword, never craning is neck to the left or right for a peep of the unknown. Even though he hadn't been up on this level before he had a pretty good idea of what everything looked like. Inside all buildings were almost the same. This was the reason why Zeta didn't even bat an eye as he swiped his card through the key slot and entered in the pristine and polished meeting room.

A quick glance told him that this was not going to be a meeting with just Alpha and himself. Good. Even though he hadn't know his boss long, she always seemed to have something to complain to him about, 'Get work done!', 'No smoking!' ...'Raise a child.' The last thought prompted by the small Cyndaquil child in one of the other Lab Tech's arms. Ugh. Children. The man had left his own little brat at home asleep. The brainless thing had sung herself to out cold. Most parents might have found it cute, but Zeta despised Jamie's songs and antics. For him they meant a drowsy afternoon of trying to stay awake. Irritated the man sat down in one of the free chairs not so close to Alpha...or anyone else.

Oh good, they were all here now, first that one with the perfection obsession. She'd dubbed that one Omega. And how like her, walking in and explaining herself, while being slightly charbroiled by that kid again. It was sweet revenge to see someone else nursing those burns for once. She could still recall that, though she had to admit, there was some points to be earned there. The kid WAS still alive after all. She tapped her arm giving the woman a brief nod as the second person arrived, oh yes it seemed everyone was getting here on time. Wonderful, they wouldn't waste her time. This one was Beta as she called him. With him was the poison quilled beast. Oh she'd despised that little brat, and it seemed he still hated her too. Good, the feelings were mutual. She gave the man a brief nod while waiting momentarily as the last creature of her team walked in. This one failed the first examination simply by the fact it seemed he couldn't take care of the child. The lack of any pink haired brat with Zeta suggested it. Not that she cared, she didn't need the hyperactive thing ruining her meeting.

"So aside from the fact only two of you seem to have succeeded in keeping your charge alive since given it," she cast a look at Zeta at this. "I'm here to answer any questions you have. As you all must know by now I am Alpha, your employer. This is my lab you work in, and my word is law. You each have been given one of our latest projects to keep an eye on, there are moreof these children out just to have it said. The sonsors names are kept in the files which you have access too. As of late Omega would be the only one who knows their names, I had given her the folders to organize." Alpha knew she wasn't the most... orderly creature alive, however she knew who could be. "As well, I would like to add that you will ne required to meet with these sponsors from time to time, I want detailed reports on noted changes after each meeting. This is the room you are to use for those." She closed her eyes momentarily. "Outside that door is the testing yard, you can check noted things back there." She idly waved a hand at the door. "Of course I don't expect you to remember all of this, so this information will be available in the folder you will all find on your desks upon returning."

She crossed her legs eyeing the two children momentarily. "I also expect to get forms about those bra-children as well." She had to correct herself as she spoke closing her eyes again. "So that it is not biased I want it written up by another tech. This goes for you as well Zeta... If that child I gave you is still alive of course. If not you owe me some money." She cast the blackhaired man a look before leaning back in her chair and shoving her glasses up again.

"Now... Your repor you're being sent is much more detailed, and me giving you those details isn't the point of this meeting. I wouldn't waste my time meeting you for something as dumb as that... I think this would be better used as a time to let you all ask what you will. Certainly you're curious by now as to what is going on." She slowly looked at all three. "So I guess this is your one chance to have my undivided attention to answer those questions. Say it now, or forever hold your piece."

...well, since everyone else was sitting, might as well stop sticking out like a sore thumb. Omega dropped down into an empty chair, adjusting the Cyndaquil boy on her lap to keep him from burning her or anything else in the immediate area. She would have to take care of the scorches on her arm after the meeting...it wouldn't be proper to pull out a roll of bandages and some antibacterial and start wrapping up some burns while other people were talking...she could endure the stinging.

Omega nodded lightly to the acknowledgement, glancing sidelong at the other techs. Neither was personally familiar; curse her absence from the lab. On the other hand, the boy with the massive pink ears looked reasonably familiar...wasn't that Kaen's friend? The Cyndaquil boy obviously had yet to notice; he was too busy exposing a flaming back to the rest of the assembled company, the fire brighter and hotter than she had ever seen. Just slightly worried by this shift in demeanor, she began to absently smooth his sleek hair, listening carefully to Alpha's words.

'Speak now or forever hold your peace.' Sounded like a wedding to her...terrifyingly. But she had a few nagging questions to pose...if she could find the way to phrase them. "How did you do this?" She asked faintly, gesturing to the Cyndaquil blazing in her lap and the Nidoran boy peeking over the table. "How did you make these...children? And how deep are we to allow our scientific curiosities to...hm...probe?" The awkward line of questioning for the sadistic minded; some faint little sliver of her conscience was asleep, apparently...but, she reasoned, it was a valid question. So she let it stand.

He glanced at the others in the room, wonderinf if he had ever almost clipped them in the car ever. They didn't look to be the type that ever drove intelegentlly. And what was with his bosses pink hair, well she was paying him and thats all that really mattered.

Beta raised his free hand pulling one of the cigs from his mouth. "Adding to my coworkers question, did you purposely use human dna in the coding or was this an unforseen glitch that worked out nicely?" he fiddled with the cig while waiting for the answer as if this meeting was a waste of his time. "On the topic of my charge, does he produce a venom thats particualary dangerous to normal humans, or is that part of the detailed report? Also, i sthere any procedure I'll have to go through to get more of the antidote?"

Konig climbed up onto Beta's lap carefully minding his spikes. Beta gave a quick look of being discusted but more at the fact some one was touching him then to a weird child climbing up on his lap. The child's quills were raised slightly, obiously agitated but he looked at Omega with curiousity since she kept glancing over at him. Oh and there was the fire boy.

Even if Alpha's comments did grate on Zeta's nerves, the black haired man kept it to himself. He wasn't much for conversation, and what did come from his mouth was usually venomous. A bad combination around the boss lady. Instead he simply stared across the table at his co-workers. So, Omega and Beta. He would have deemed Beta reasonable had the man not spoken, and Omega, well ...more to be said about her later.

Each had brought their child, children which were currently being more bother than help. If their was one thing Zeta had learned it was that children and work don't mix. Between the two entities is a fine scientific equation, which like the formula for water and oil, no matter how you try to mix them they will simply never sit together. The older man could only twitch slightly as he imagined if Jamie were here...far to bubbly of a toddler.

Speaking of the child's wondrous nature, Zeta followed suit of the other two, and stated his mind. "With the mix of D.N.A...." Zeta choose his words carefully, taking his speaking out to a slow drawl, "...how much is human and how much...will be their animal nature?" So far Jamie had kept up with the singing abilities of her species, and frankly he wanted to know how many more unpleasant surprises or nonsense their would be.

"Oh what good little pets you are." Came the little reply from the woman at the prompt questions. She didn't like to waste time, so she prefered they not... Take too long asking. "Well first, Omega the children are created with a machine of my own design." She rubbed a hand through her hair careful not to loosen the strands as she did so. "To add with Zeta's question it wasn't meant to be much. I did use from human dna in the mix, however it was merely to allow for a solid form to be made." She closed her eyes. "It was not meant to alter their shape however, so obviously the variable was off slightly which resulted in these children. However this isn't to be called bad really, more than anything it makes me curious." She eyed Zeta a moment. "You asked me how much DNA is in them, I ca't really say." She suddenly beamed. "That's why I gave them to you, you're going to find out such things for me!"

She then gave an almost eery giggle to Omegas followup question. "Oh this is all for science, why would how the children feel about it all matter? They're simply my experiments and nothing more." She folded her hands lightly tilting her head. "However if they die, or you break them you owe me whatever the cost was to make them. Let's simply say you shouldn't break the child while you study it. No one is allowed to break them save for me." With that she waved her hand lightly. "So as long as it won't kill the child go ahead, I don't mind. Though if you intend to try to change it's genetics let me know first, and keep a detailed report of the effects." With that she was done on that subject, and what she'd said might not have been what Omega wanted to hear. Oh well, such as Alpha.

Now it was time to move back onto Beta. "Oh those berries for the poison? Yes, well... I can get you more if you need them, just fill out a request form, you can find those in the staff lounge." She tapped her mouth a few times. "As for the poison, it works on normal humans too. How else do you think I found out I'd need to keep a supply of those things on hand?" She gave him a chipper grin. "I guess he hasn't decided to poke you too hard yet, try to keep that up. I don't like wasting my time making too many of those berries." She then learned back again in her chair.

"So, anymore questions? If not you're dismissed. You're to begin attending work Monday through Friday at the scheduled times, weekends are free unless you have a meeting with a parent scheduled, or you are called in for overtime. If you need to talk to me you will need to schedule time, I don't really like if people barge into my lab while I'm working, and make sure to keep people from wandering around the lab unattended." With that all said she pushed up her glasses again. "Oh, and do enjoy those children. Not everyone is blessed with a bundle of joy you know."

Omega's expression twitched into something almost like a barely concealed frown as she pondered over Omega's answers, one hand sliding faintly over Kaen's hair as her eyes closed. In times like this, the dark always helped her concentrate...the woman nodded vaguely at Omega's answers, her mind beginning to reel through the possibilities. "Exactly how delicate or sturdy do you expect these children to be? Is it variable depending on the DNA? And, out of curiosity...how much do these children cost to make?"

...somehow, Omega thought that an arm and a leg would be baseline.

As she opened her eyes again, she caught Konig staring at her from across the table. Flashing a weak smile in his direction, she turned her stare down to Kaen...only to find him watching her with an almost bitter glare on his young face.

Startled, Omega's hand twitched away to rest on the arm of her chair. Kaen looked away in the next moment, his flames sputtering for a moment before redoubling in intensity. Bundle of joy, huh?

"Thank you, and of course not. You must be hard on resorces as it is." And then he went silent. Back to musing over various things silently or wishing he was doing other work, only Beta would know. Occasionally he would have to push on Konig to prevent him from scewering his leg or arm when one of the quills got dangerously close. The boy didn't seem to mind and was possibly making a game out of it. How long till would it take till the man gort mad at him?

Konig grinned. He had never gotten that response from one of the big people before. His ears and quills relaxed a bit, finially ignoring the pink hair lady in the room.

"He haf- ah!" Konigs hat was quickly pulled down over his eyes to get him to stop speaking. Now was not the time to talk as Beta had just indicated. Konig was currently trapped in a now much darker realm to be to currently concerned with carrying on his conversation.

Alpha's words were so encouraging to Zeta. Lots of 'I'm not really sure,' and 'That's your job to figure it out' were always something the man loved to hear. Visibly his eye ticked as Alpha finished. Great...just great, so there were going to be more nasty surprises as Jamie grew up. She would probably get more 'fun filled' abilities too, besides her wonderful signing. Honestly, what was next...b***h slap attack?

Oh well, at least Alpha had given him the full given ability to do whatever he wanted with Jamie. So long as he didn't kill her...or something like that. That would never happen anyway. The last thing Zeta wanted was bloodshed on his hands. Cops were troublesome. Not only that but Alpha would be on his back like no tomorrow. If the idea of the cops running about his apartment wasn't enough to touch a nerve, the idea of Alpha asking for payment certainly did. As long as he fed Jamie and made sure she had a place to stay, the child should be fine. Heh, besides, kids these days… practically raised themselves, just had to stick 'em in front of the television. An object which Zeta hated ever so much, but if it meant keeping Jamie out of his hair, well then, he would try it.

The man cast a sideward glance at the two little creatures in his fellow Tech's laps. ...Nasty little buggers.

Summer is No Fun

Out among the chairs and play things of the reception area, in a small corner sat the young Igglybuff girl. Da da had let her come to work today, (really she had followed him, like heck if Zeta would actually invite the poor girl to work) but this was no fun...she had been hoping she could help the old grump with some of that stuff he did. "Jamie help Da, da?" The little girl had asked hopefully, her sparkling blue eyes all a shimmer with hope that she actually might be of some service. The poor thing had even been so eager in her haste to get a bit of praise from her father, that she had tried to scramble up the tall counters near his work desk. In turn this had caused a nasty little fumble with the man’s coffee...and well now Jamie was out in the hallway her pink dress covered splattered with bits of drying brown liquid.

Da da had gotten angry after that....and that upset Jamie. "Out." Was the only word he had said, Jamie really didn't understand what he had said, but the nasty glare that came with it was enough to send the little pink thing shuffling out of the lab as fast as her feet could carry her. "...So bad..." Jamie sighed as she curled up her knees to her face. That’s right she was bad for upsetting Da Da. Summer time was supposed to be fun, filled with the pool and outdoor games, or so the looks of the smiling children across the street had told her. But this was just not good, summer stuck here? She may have loved Da Da…but he was mad at her now, and this place certainly wasn’t fun at all.

Konig had been dragged to the Lab again today. Whether it was because Beta was a good parent or whether it was he just couldn't stand the thought of the little boy touching everything in the house while he was away. Either way, the Nidoran boy didn't care much for the lab, to many early fond memories of Alpha. He did like the children's playroom since it atleast had some colorful items to play with. He was determined to find that room again.

The door to the reception area creaked open and the boy poked his head out. The purple ears twitched an pivoted checking for any intersting sound like they always did. Koning glanced around. Well this place had a lot of chairs and somethng things that looked like they could be played with. The door slammed behind him after he let go and shuffled over to the nearest table to pull a magazine off it. Then his ears picked up a sniffling sound.

"Hello?" Konig looked around trying to figure out where the sound was coming from.

Jamie, whom had just finished wiping the itty bitty tears from her eyes with the back of her hand looked up. Hmmn? Someone was here. Moments ago the place had been dead quiet, in fact Jamie hadn't even thought their were others here. Just her and Da Da as far as she knew...the toddler grew curious. Jamie was never sad for very long, her attention was always snapped up by something far better than being upset. Stretching out her hands Jamie crawled foreword shuffling out of her corner just enough to peek about the room.

Ohh, what was that thing? Jamie hadn't seen another child before whom was abnormal like she was. The kids outside of her house all looked different than she did. While Konig certainly didn't look like Jamie, he looked different than everyone else. Besides those pink things on his head!

With a bit of shuffling and a quick scamper Jamie made her way over to table, she may have looked it, but Jamie was never one to be shy. She was an outgoing child, probably the type that would learn to like the spotlight when she grew up. "Hi!~" The young girl burst out cheerfully.

Konig jumped back at the sudden appearance of the girl. His ears flatened for a second and his quills stuck up a bit, much like a frieghtened cat. It was only for a second as he calmed down and his ears were now perked up back into a curious position. She was really pink for a person, how strange, and she was a girl! He fumbled with the magazine he had nabbed from the table.

"Why were you hiding?" Konig glanced back to where she had just come from.

"Whoooooa...." escaped the girls lips with a curious tone. Those thingies that came out of this kids back. Jamie pressed her hands against the table as she tried to lean over to the side for a better look at this curious fellows back. First his ears, and now these things on his back, Jamie was taken away. The girl leaned back bringing her hands towards her face as she excitedly squealed. "Soo co co~ " Co ...wasn't that the word you said when something was neat, and interesting and made you go 'woah!' like she had just done? She had a feeling that she was missing the full word, but couldn’t quite remember what it was.

An eyelid opened, "Hiiiding?" Jamie tilted her head to the side giving Koning a curious look. " I no hiding..." large blue eyes darted to the ground. Ah, that was right moments ago she had been said cause da da was mad at her. Da da...."I waiting for da da to finish work." she said looking up again at the small boy. Time for another subject! Like most children, Jamie couldn't stay one topic or idea for very long. Back to these big pink ears on this boys head, ...pink, pink! Just like her.

Slowly Jamie reached out a hand, with one finger she cautiously poked at Konig's ear. "ear...." Jamie drifted off mesmorized, as her free hand came to her ehad and she touched the side of her face. No ears here...at least not the visible kind. Da da had said when she was older she would get cute ones...but for now she didn't have any big ones like Konig.

He turned slightly when Jamie was leaning over to look at his quills. Why did everyone think those where so exciting. They weren't that amazing to him, then again he ws born with them. Co? What was co? It must have been a compliment, she was smiling after all.

"Youran pa bring you here? This place boring. Not funido." Konig pouted a bit but was easily distracted by Jamies next query.

"Yes?" His ear perked up in response to being touched. Atleast she wasn't pulling at them to see if they were real. Konig hated that. Its like they'd never seen an ear before and had to pull on it to make sure they weren't imagining the thing.

Then he noticed the swirl on Jamies forehead. "Swirl?" He pointed to his own forehead but kept his eyes locked on her's. "Dats neat were did you get that from?"

"No, ish no fun ah all..." frowned Jamie, her hands now gently patting and softly squeezing those long appendages on either side of Koning's head. "...buh were Da da go, Jamie go too!" She nodded at the last bit, causing her big fluffy pigtails to go a flopping everywhere. Don't ask why, she was just fond of her father. Disregard the man could care less about her. It was just one day Alpha was, "This is your dad, now out! I have more important things to attend to." the curious toddler had looked one moment at Zeta and the next promptly attached herself to his legs. 'DA DA'.

"So warm...." Jamie inched her way foreword until she could place a cheek against the side of one of Konig's ears. It wasn't exactly the softest thing she had ever felt, but Jamie still thought these things were wonderful.

"Swirl?" Jamie pulled back and looked up to where Konig was pointing. Ah yes, that thing on her forehead. Where did she get it from? The girls eyebrows sloped down inward towards her nose as she thought about the problem for a minute. As far as she could remember, she had always had it...in fact, "I born with ih...." she said. "...Buh, I hear ih going to go away some day.." she said with a frown. "Dah say ih will change, when I change." What ever that meant. Afterwards, Zeta had gone off on some sort of rant about 'ebolution...' erm, whatever that ways.

It was at this point the fun had to be broken up between the two toddlers for Zeta tech came out of his office and boy, was he not in a good mood. Allready in his vest pocket half the carton of cigarettes was missing. Had Alpha really run him that rugged, allready?

At the sight of her father the girl instantly smiled and ran towards Zeta...who inturn gave a distaned look and pushed the door open. "Out." Was all he had to say.

Looking behind her shoulder, Jamie gave her new found friend a wave. "Biiies boy with kute eaars."

Zeta simple rolled his eyes, the sight was sickeningly sweet.

The Purchase of Alexander

"Two fifty a week--" The shrewed man with greasy hair took a puff of the cancerous stick between his lips before he tightening his coat about him. It was cold today and he didn't even give a second look at the shivering man in front of him.

"That's low--" came the sharp interjection of the robust women who stood off to the side warming her own hands together between white woolen mittens.

"Take it or leave it." The man snapped as he pulled the small child standing next to him closer against his side. "Don't you dare wander off Jamie"

Jamie, the small child dressed from head to to in her overly large pink coat sniffled and shook her head back and forth. She didn't understand why daddy was here on this cold day talking to these strange people. She didn't understand it and she didn't like it. "Go ha-hame pwease dada--?" Small fingers tugged at the trim of Zeta's waist coat until they were smacked away by the cold hands.

"Do we have a deal?"

"...You promise I'll get him back at the end of the month?"

"Of course, as long as you come to fetch him. I won't send to pay him back." The chill of Zeta's voice was worse than the n** in the air and its tonel bit Naito to the bone.

"Agreed--" Frowning, the women stretched out her covered hand to shake on the deal but dropped it when the only thing she received from Zeta was a frosty stare.

"Hnf...Alexander?" The blonde women, slightly worried at what she had gotten the newest member of her household into, turned and glanced at the pale young man behind her. "You're sure about this? I know it was my idea to hire you out as help in the first place but really--I--" What was there to say? She had sold him out as help with out even asking him about it. And now she was getting cold feet ? Why? All because she didn't like this person who had responded to the add...why the sudden change? She could really use the extra money around this time of the holidays..."Will you be ok?"

"I'm fine. Thank you for our time together." Was the only thing the inhumanly beautiful man replied before obediently stepping across the invisible line which separated the two parties. If he had any feelings of hurt at his careless treatment none showed. Yet, that was Alexander...he never said anything but what was necessary. In a way it was rather...tragic.

"Remember--" the girl chimed in once more as she turned, "just for this month as the add said. He originally was my hired help after all."

"Oh--and I trust you know which address to make the check too? Make sure it gets to me before the end of the month." Finished with her dirty business Naito left making a great deal of noise as she crunched off through the snow to her car a few meters away.

Zeta watched quietly until the car had left, only moving to take a puff of his dimly burning cigarette. Even after the noise of the loud rumbling engine was long gone he stood stationary not caring to disrupt the beautiful silence of his icy surroundings. He liked winter, it was a landscape in which he felt comfortable. None of the heat of summer and spring and none of the blinding colors of fall. It was a landscape much like him, cold and uncaring.

"Jamie--" Zeta finally spoke as he flicked the remains of the dead ashes in his hand away. "This is the new "help" Alexander--"

Turning swiftly Zeta pulled away from the girl causing the child to fumble as she lost her balance away from her father.

"Don't get attached."
