Absently, Kiro chewed the end of his pencil. He had intended, for the past few days, to start a journal charting the progress of his new 'charge'. He just wasn't sure what he was supposed to be writing at the moment...

He gazed at the jar. It'd been in the same position on his desk since Alyosha had given it to him. Not right up against the wall, but a little away from it - to give it 'breathing space'. It was a silly idea, Kiro supposed, but he was starting to wonder if he was supposed to be talking to it. It was supposed to help plants, wasn't it? Why not unborn Aerandir? In truth, he'd pulled himself up short several times doing just that. Talking animatedly to it. In fact, Kiro realised with a guilty twinge, that said something about the fact he needed to get out more. Especially if his best conversations were with inanimate objects...

With a sigh, the boy reached the pencil up to scratch behind an ear thoughtfully, feeling it twitch gently as he did so. He then glanced across, smiling faintly at the jar. "You're going to be more trouble than's good for you, aren't you?" An amused pause. "Don't ask how I know, I can just tell. It's always your type. The quiet ones."

He then smiled, glancing down at his blank page - determined to start this journal today if it killed him.

Again, not a lot's happened in the past few days. The jar (I need to think of something more personal to call it...) has been sitting on the desk quite obediently since I first put it there. I haven't really had any inclination to move it, it seems... happy where it is.

It's a little strange. I've taken to talking to it quite a lot. I've also been reading aloud to it from any books I can lay my hands on. (We're currently working through the fish section. ^_^) It's not exactly riveting material, I guess. Maybe I should try getting my hands on some kind of storybook. It'd be more entertaining than a textbook I'd imagine. But speaking or reading to it makes me feel like I'm doing something for it, and not just leaving it sitting by itself.

It's not even aware yet, and I'm considering whether it'd be lonely or not. There's something fundementally wrong with this...

Closing the small book, Kiro glanced at the jar. As he'd written, it hadn't been moved since the first time he'd put it down. It was almost like he was afraid in a way to touch it. He wasn't sure why, perhaps the fact that it was only a jar had a lot to do with it - and if he picked it up, he'd be tempted to treat it like a small child.

He sighed a little, laying one arm on the desk and using the other to support his tilted head. He couldn't help but smile a little as he regarded the jar - a small, silly smile. Then with a blink, he sat straight, a sudden realisation dawning on him. He was interacting with inanimate objects again.

He needed to get a life...

(Continued...)

He wasn't quite sure how he'd missed it, the small envelope that appeared under his door. It wasn't like he'd been out of the room. When he noticed it, the blonde stood up and went to retrieve it, opening it as he went to sit on the bed.

Alyosha
Dear Anakiro,

The reason I am writing to you is to confirm that we have a name for your Aerandir for our records. Further study of the evidence gleaned from your artifacts has shown that there is a 98% chance of your Aerandir being male. I included this information with the hope of perhaps aiding you in choosing a name. If you could get back to me with haste I will arrange for all of the formalities to be completed so that we may start you on your way as an Aerandir guardian.

Yours sincerely,

Alyosha.

The boy blinked, his blue eyes wide. It seemed to drive the point home a little deeper to see it written down in black and white. He brought his gaze up a little to regard the jar.

"A name...?" he murmured faintly. 98% chance of it - no him - being male... The name shouldn't be girly. In fact... He boy chewed on his lip for a little while in thought. He then rose from the bed, taking the letter with him, and laying it beside him as he wrote out his reply. If it was supposed to be this formal, he would reply in like, he reasoned.

Kiro
Dear Alyosha,

I'm writing to let you know that I have chosen a name for the Aerandir in my care. I would like him to be called "Tsukai".

If there are any further details I need to provide, be sure to let me know. As I'm sure you will(!)

Regards,
~Anakiro ^_^

He blinked at the page as he re-read what he'd written. He'd not intended to draw the small smiley-face after his name. But, with a slightly amused sigh, he decided to leave it there.

He then glanced up at the jar with a slight smile. "Tsukai..." he murmured, a distinctly Japanese prounounciation filtering through as he did so. He then smiled, leaning an elbow on the desk so he could stretch forward and take the jar pulling it towards him across the smooth surface. He didn't really care if he did start talking to Tsukai and treating him like a small child. He would be doing that soon enough anyway; what was wrong with getting a head start on it? And now he had a name, it didn't seem like such a crazy thing anyway.

With that thought he smiled again, opening the piece of paper he'd written to Alyosha, and added:

Kiro
P.S. And how would I go about getting hold of some storybooks? Could you collar me at some point and let me know? Thanks!

He folded the paper again and put it to one side. He'd take it and slip it under Alyosha's door next time he went down the corridor. But for now - he decided, retrieving the hefty book once again - more animal-type reading to keep Tsu 'occupied'.

Upon retrieving the books from the main area of the Community Centre, Kiro wasted no time getting back to his room to read them to Tsukai. It was strange, but he was excited for (what could only be currently described as) the artifacts.

He glanced between the books, his expression thoughtful. "Japanese Myths and Legends", "Nursery Rhymes" or "The Brothers Grimm Fairy Tales". After a few seconds thought, Kiro picked up the Brothers Grimm, putting the other two to one side for the moment.

He opened it to read, but then spotted the journal. He'd been neglecting that lately. He should probably write something in it, he realised, lowering the book and picking up the journal and a pen.

Journal

Again, there's not been much change since my last entry (which is why that entry was several days ago).

Still reading to him, like I mentioned last time. It's calming, probably moreso for me I imagine. However, We're just about to start reading some stories from "The Brothers Grimm". I think it'd be better than reading a textbook to him in any event.

Although. Speaking of reading... I should really read Fae's log and hand it back to her. She was good enough to lend it to me, I should get it read soon.

I'll read something to Tsukai first, then read the log. I probably won't see Fae for a few days to hand it back anyway.

A little worried that he'd deviated from the topic a little, Kiro placed his pen down and took up the storybook again.

"Okay Tsu," he murmured, eyeing the contents page. "What d'you think?" The pause Kiro left was worryingly expectant. Then he noticed it and smiled. "I'm so glad there's never anyone around to see me do that..." he admitted to the jar with an embarassed ear-twitch or two.

"Okay, this one will do," he announced, opening the book on the desk and leaning a little on an elbow as he started to read aloud.

"Once upon a time..."

Well, I read through Fae's journal, and I've gotta say it's been interesting reading. It's especially interesting that Pueblo showed artistic signs so early on in her life. I wonder if Tsukai will show any sort of inclination so early on.

I'll have to make sure to find Fae soon and hand it back.

No change with Tsukai. I think he's just content to be read to...! ^_^

Smiling, Kiro closed the journal. There was only so often you could offer a variation on "no change". He would, however, make a point of finding Fae in the near future, or even just where she lived to hand the book back.

Kiro gnawed a lip lightly. He'd been sitting at the desk for several hours by now, the trusty animal book open in front of him, and making various (seemingly irrelevant) notes, having filled numerous sheets of paper with his neat cursive handwriting.

He glanced up at the bottle, which was still sitting near the wall on the desk in front of him. He hadn't spoken to Tsukai in a while. How much attention did they need at this age? Too much rather than too little Kiro supposed.

He reached across to the Brothers Grimm book and flipped it open. They hadn't been reading the short stories in any specific order. So, anything they hadn't already read would be fine.

"'Cat and Mouse in Partnership'?" murmured the neko-jin quietly. It seemed appropriate enough, so he began to read.

A few seconds in, he realised this may not have been such a good idea. The cat in the story did nothing but lie to and decieve the mouse. This wasn't an idea Kiro wanted to promote. He paused for a second in thought, before shaking his head with a sigh. A moral would come out of it at the end, he was sure. And there was a... strangeness about a mouse and a cat getting along. No point in trying to hide that, he supposed. So he continued to read aloud, hesitating at every sign of deception from the cat. Of which there were quite a few.

"...scarcely had she spoken it before the cat... uhh... sprang on her... seized her, and..." Kiro trailed off. He didn't want to finish the last line of the story. Whether it was because he was reading it to Tsukai, or whether it was because he wouldn't do what the cat in the story had done and eat one of his friends. In any event, Tsukai didn't need to hear that last line.

Kiro closed the book with a decisive air. "There. We'll read another one later, okay?" It could almost be described as funny. Kiro refused to even look at the bottle, as though he was having a hard time dodging eye-contact with a distinct absence of eyes. He was also sporting a faintly dectectable blush, even though there was nobody but he and Tsukai to witness it.

Telling stories is all well and good, but I need to keep an eye on what we're reading. I don't want Tsukai getting any strange ideas about the world before he's even out of his bottle.

Since Acia had visited (Community Centre pg 62-63) Kiro had spent the time 'exploring' the new layout of the room. The next door room was pretty much identical to his own, still with the bed and the desk inside it. He didn't pay much mind to it however, content that someone had gone to the trouble of trying to help. Besides, he was sure Tsukai would more than appreciate the space when the time came. Kangaroo rats were supposed to be amazing jumpers, but you couldn't prove that if there wasn't room to jump around.

Well, Tsukai and I had an unexpected visitor yesterday. Her name's Acia, and I gather she lives with Alyosha. I didn't ask, but I'm also pretty sure she's one of the adult Aerandir. She came to make the room bigger... and not much else it seemed. She was plenty quiet, and seemed eager to make a quick getaway when she was done.

I didn't think you could get much more nervous than me - but I was proved wrong. Not that it's a bad thing, of course, I hope I see her again. She seems like she'd have lots of interesting things to say once she got past the issue of actually 'saying' them.

As for Tsukai, he's still in his jar. There has, however, been change in that it's started to glow - I think that means he's getting ready to be 'born'.

I'm still not sure I'm ready to take care of something like this... I have my doubts...

After writing that, Kiro let his gaze fall on the jar. It had, indeed, started to glow - evidently sometime that night. While part of him was excited by this prospect, another part was worried. Talking to a jar was different from... this.

It was still glowing. That was the only thing Kiro could really think of to write about as he held the journal open on his lap quietly, his chair a little back from the desk and regarding Tsukai quietly. He was beginning to wonder if the creature was ever going to come out of the jar. What if there had been a mistake? If those two articles were never going to work? It had all been successful so far, he supposed, but what if he was the first one to 'fail' as it were?

He shook his head, trying to shake out thoughts like that. Those were not going to help anything. He reached up a hand and scratched at an ear thoughtfully.

Alyosha
Sitting quietly, the small jar seems unassuming. Slowly it begins to crack with a few sharp "pings". the contents seem to fuse together in a whirling mass which presses out intermittently at the jar walls, like a chick trying to escape an egg. In one final crack, the jar is cleft in two, the parts falling to either side as the wirling mass bounded upwards. now it was out it was as if the little orb had been waiting to be free. It bounced, falling forward, only coming to a rest at the edge of Anakiro's desk.

Slowly the ball began to form a small creature, much smaller than any other Aerandir, about the size of a large mouse. "Chirp!" it exclaimed.

User Image

For a few seconds Kiro just stared at the small creature. And, in perfect like, Tsukai stared back. "Chirp!" he exclaimed again, shaking his head a little in confusion, the bird-eyes looking about. What just happened...? Confusion was a slight understatement.

"Tsu..." murmured Kiro quietly, reaching a shaking hand towards the creature gently. Tsukai watched the hand approaching him, tilting his head as though in curiosity. Then, with another chirp, he fluttered his wings a little, hopping into Kiro's outstretched hand.

The Aerandir settled a little, nuzzling at the base of Kiro's thumb with his head. During this, Kiro had stood from the chair and now stepped back a few paces to sit heavily on the bed. This prompted another squeak from Tsukai as Kiro sat, fluttering in surprise.

"Shh... I'm sorry..." murmured Kiro, rubbing the tiny animal's head with the tip of a finger. "I'm just happy to see you..."

His voice seemed to calm the skittish Aerandir down, the chirps quietening to gentle squeaks, still with a small degree of distress in them. "It's okay... shh..." He gently continued stroking Tsukai's head with his finger. "You okay now...?"

"Chirp..."

Kiro couldn't help but smile fondly as the small mousey creature then seemed to have tired of the whole ordeal - quite literally. Tsukai's little eyes closed with a sleepy "cheep..." the long tail curling around the small body and the tuft on the end tickling at his guardian's wrist.

Tsukai's broken out of his jar... Possibly the most appropriate thing to comment on thusfar. He fell asleep in my hand, I'm just glad it was my left one, or I'd have trouble writing in this now.

Kiro paused then to smile fondly at the little creature curled in his palm. Then, as he was watching him, Tsukai opened his eyes with a quiet "peep". An hour or so, it seemed, had been enough. The small creature lifted his head and pulled his tail from around himself, letting it fall off the edge of Kiro's hand as he tilted his head at the humanoid.

Then, with a bounce and a flurry of wings, Tsukai was off, bouncing onto the desk with a triumphant "peep!". This was fun!! He turned to look at Kiro as the neko-jin's ears started to twitch nervously. Having the Aerandir run away wouldn't be too good... definately not...

Seemingly amused, Tsukai then decided to explore the desk. He sprung on his kangaroo rat feet, bouncing and then fluttering with a flurry of wings and feathers before landing again and loping across to the journal, which lay - still open - on the desk. He sat proudly on it and watched Kiro, his head twitching back and forth as he heard sounds about them.

"Tell you what," said Kiro eventually, thinking he should do something other than stare at the small animal. "I'll finish writing in the journal, then we'll go outside, okay?"

A peep of agreement prompted Kiro to take up the pen again and write, conviniently he was nearing the bottom of a page and so the Aerandir didn't need to move to let the neko-jin write.

Journal
And the little guy woke up. Guess I'll have to cut this short ^_^;;

Not sure what was going on in the room next door last night though... Whatever it was... it was loud. I was going to go find out what was going on... but then... well... I had a thought that made me a little reluctant.

Kiro could feel himself blushing a little at the thought of what he'd been thinking. He shouldn't be thinking things like that, there's was something so wrong with that train of thought!

He gently shooed Tsukai off the journal and closed it decisively after he finished writing. "Want to go for a wander then Tsu?" He held out his hand to the small gryphon, who took the hint, but this time went for a higher vantage point. With a bounce and an accompanying flutter he sprung to Kiro's shoulder. He then promptly wedged himself into the hollow between the youth's collar bone and his neck.

"Okay... let's see if we can't meet you some friends," murmured Kiro with a grin, pulling on some shoes and making his way out of doors with his new charge.

Tsukai and Kiro had been quite content in just mooching about for the past few days. The wonderful 'incident' involving Kiro changing into a cat, and changing back at a particularly inconvenient time left the blonde youth with very little will to interact with the others on the island. He had convinced himself that everyone had heard about the mishap by now, and were quite content to snigger at the situation when he was not there.

Of course, the neko-jin didn't think that because he thought they were bad people. Just that he'd brought it on himself. It hadn't happened in quite some time, and he was usually very careful about not burning himself (which is what would bring on such a change). The kettle had been an unfortunate slip-up. One he did not intend to repeat.

"I kinda feel bad," he admited to Tsukai, stroking the small gryphon with a finger. "We haven't really done anything for a few days, huh? I'm sorry..."

He tilted his head and smiled lightly at the understanding peep.

He nodded. "I'll read you some more stories tonight to make up for it okay?"

The stories, Kiro realised, were something Tsukai enjoyed. Even at this stage, Kiro couldn't be sure the mousey creature was taking everything in. But he seemed to enjoy them and that, Kiro decided, was the most important thing.

Journal

Well, let's just say some stuff happened a few days ago that made me want a hole to open in the ground and swallow me up. I'll not go into details... but, urgh... Definately not good.

However, as a result, Tsu and I've been reading more books - not always the story books, he seems interested in The Book too. We've been reading it and looking at the pictures. We've also almost finished the Brothers' Grimm. Looks like I'm going to have to swallow my pride at some point and ask Alyosha how to get hold of some more books. I guess I can't hide from him forever...

Kiro sighed, closing the journal quietly. Maybe not forever, but a few more days wasn't going to hurt anyone.

Smiling gently, Kiro tickled Tsukai quietly. He was amused by how the little creature adored attention. He would prod the mousey-bird's belly with a teasing finger and instantly Tsukai rolled over to give Kiro easier access. So, willingly, Kiro obliged, continuing to scratch the small animal.

He stopped after a few seconds, and instantly Tsukai was up again. He peeped loudly and hopped up a few times towards his guardian, fluttering madly every time he reached the top of the jump.

"You're gonna have to figure out this flying thing soon, Tsu." murmured Kiro affectionately. He cupped his hands under the latest jump and caught the leaper with a smile. Then, still grinning, he placed Tsukai down on the desk.

In the corner of the desk, stood a small plastic bag fun of seeds. Absently Kiro reached across and picked it up, untying the top of it and putting a hand inside, retrieveing a seed for the small Aerandir.

"You need to run around," decided Kiro aloud, tilting his head as, on a whim, he tossed the seed in his hand across the room. He watched as it landed on the floor, and Tsukai simply tilted his head at it.

"Geez," murmured Kiro, amused as he stood to retrieve the seed. "You've got the same attitude as a cat... I swear..."

But then, all of a sudden, Tsukai sprang into action. There was barely time to recognise what the small creature was doing as he crouched and sprung. He then crossed a decent portion of the room, fluttering before coming to land with impressive accuracy and gathering the seed up in his dainty paws and prying it open with the tip of his beak, forcing the shell outwards.

Kiro blinked broadly in amazement. He didn't know Tsukai could even fly more than the irate flutter...

Tsukai can... fly. Or so I discovered today.

That being said, he didn't fly very far. A few metres at most. But still, it's a start. It might be worth coaxing him to try a little harder. If nothing else, it gets him some exercise.

~~ 2005/06/07 ~~

It was about time, Tsukai noted with a small peep, that Kiro was awake. The two of them had been up into the wee hours reading more Brothers Grimm. Tsukai, while not really understanding the stories, was very acute to the tones Kiro used to illustrate the stories. His voice changed when he read different pieces of dialouge, and sometimes, if the neko-jin was concentrating enough, his face would change. But what was most important was the tone of the boy's voice as he read. The tone of his voice could tell the small Aerandir so much about what was being said. So while Tsukai didn't understand the story, he could get caught up in the telling of it.

So, while musing all this over, Tsukai lay very still on Kiro's chest, feeling the rise and fall of the feline's chest as he slept.

...

This was boring...!

Having decided this, Tsukai hopped off Kiro's chest and landed nimbly on the floor. Kiro didn't even flinch at Tsukai's light hop and, with that settled, the Aerandir moved off to find something to do - hopping and fluttering as he went. There were lots of places in the room to explore, not least the 'other room' which Kiro's things had only just started migrating into.

The little creature poked his head everywhere in that room. Eventually he ended up on the bed, his long tail curled around himself twice as he looked about, tilting his head in an almost twitching manner. Why wasn't Kiro up yet? Well... that was his loss!! With a decisive peep, Tsukai then decided to explore underneath one of the discarded pillows on the empty bed. However, being the inquisitive thing he was, the mouse managed to explore into the pillowcase. He couldn't understand what had happened, he'd only gone under the pillow! Why wouldn't it let him out again?! "Peeeeeeeep!!!"

The disturbed peep made Kiro sit bolt-upright in bed, his ears twitching like they were spasming. "Wha... huh?!"

"Peeeep!!"

The loud peeping and the sound of something thrashing about in the 'other room' draw Kiro quickly through the doorway and quickly and mumbling in a soothing manner the neko-jin quickly released the Aerandir. "What were you doing...?" Kiro mumbled with a yawn, running a hand through his tousled hair. "Exploring, I guess?"

Wow!! What a morning!! With another peep, this time a more gleeful one, Tsukai instantly zoomed about, retracing his steps from the morning.

I was sitting on the bed!! Then...! The small creature zoomed over towards the desk and leaped onto it with a struggling flutter as he missed his mark a little. Then I came over here!!! I didn't realise it's as high as this but you're a lot taller than it and I can jump up to you and I can use the chair if I need to but only if I fall off the table!! Mentally, of course, there is no need to take a breath. And so the mousey creature didn't bother slowing down. Not that it made a difference to anyone but himself. Tsukai then bombed around to a few other places, Kiro following him with a slightly concerned air. What exactly was Tsukai doing?

"Are... you okay, Tsu?"

Tsukai didn't understand the question, past the fact it was a question. Pah!! Your questions can wait!!

Eventually, they both ended up back to the bed. And promptly Tsukai sat as he had previously, his tail around his feet. He did it this time with a little more posture, it looked more deliberate. Then he dived back under the pillow, only to be quickly rescued by his guardian.

"Tsu! Haven't we already figured that that's a bad idea?"

The little animal sat in the palm of Kiro's hand as the white eared blonde gave him the gentle reprimand. He tilted his head a little as through comprehending the idea that burrowing into pillow-cases was a bad idea. He then tilted his head the other way... did the human-shaped Kiro understand the story he'd been trying to tell...?

Kiro smiled a little, stroking the feathery head with a gentle finger. "You've had quite the morning, haven't you?"

"Peep!" Tsukai nudged Kiro's finger with his head in a voyage for more attention. It seemed, by Kiro's tone, he'd understood something, and that for the moment was good enough.

Another early morning for Kiro, the neko-jin noted quietly. He sat on his bed with a book open across his knees, idly noting pages numbers as he found ones of interest. He wasn't sure what he was going to use the interesting page numbers for, but he was sure he was going to find something. He had plans to write some kind of dissertation about the Aerandir, something to present to Ataro when he got back to show he'd gotten something out of his trip.

There was also another reason the youth was up so early, and it was partly a reluctance to sleep.

Fae had visited him last night with a strange request. One of her parents had seemingly taken ill, and made it necessary to take a sudden trip back to the mainland. She hadn't wanted to take Pueblo with her. While she hadn't been specific why, Kiro could easily guess. The little girl was just getting used to being a little girl, and going to the mainland would be traumatic.

Absently, he stroked Tsukai's head, the small Aerandir being curled up in his usual place against Kiro's neck. He then continued flipping through the book waiting for the two in his care to wake up properly. Pueblo, at the very least, had had a late night. Kiro wondered if this was the first time she'd been without her mother. Or was it just because this place was new to her? She'd get more settled in a few days, he was sure.

Either way, Tsukai revelled in the company - making it clear very quickly that he planned to force her into being his new playmate. They seemed to have hit it off well, which was always a good thing.

Speaking of Tsukai, he gave a sleepy peep in the way of a morning greeting. Kiro smiled at that, stroking him again gently. "Morning you..." he murmured good-naturedly. "Do you know what time it is, Lazybones?" Although, it was a given that Tsukai didn't yet have any comprehension of "bedtime" yet, and to be honest Kiro doubted if he ever would.

"Peep!" declared Tsukai boldly, his mind instantly demanding to know where his new playmate was at! Kiro had told her she could have the spare bed in the 'other room' which still remained from when the room had been two. She seemed to be sleeping soundly when Kiro had checked in on her before going to sleep himself. This, of course was a good sign.

"Shh," he said to Tsukai, giving the animal a gently reprimanding pat. He could guess what that last peep had meant...! "She's asleep, leave her alone, okay?"

Unexpected arrival last night in the form of Pueblo. Fae's had to go take care of something, so she asked me to baby-sit. The research fanboy in me was squealing for approximately five minutes. I mean this is a child Aerandir. But then, after that sinks in, she's a child. She was kind of upset when her mother left. We drew some stuff and read some stories, so I think last night went okay. We're going to have to think of some really interesting things to do now though - I think Tsukai's getting a little sick of constant stories now too. He likes bein read too, but I guess there needs to be a little variety, right? Maybe if I get out a book with pictures? Or we could go exploring? Or something...

I don't know... I hope nothing goes wrong. I'm not even sure how long Pueblo'll be with us for. I also hope everything goes okay for Fae; she sounded pretty worried when she left...

Well, one day down and an undetermined number to go. Nothing seemed to go wrong yesterday, we did some drawing and some reading and generally messed about. I'm really going to have to think of something to do though if Tsu and I are going to have Pueblo with us for any significant period of time.

Sighing in thought, Kiro closed the journal. He might add more to it later, but right now he could think of much else to actually say.

"Keeo?"

Blinking at the mention of his name, the neko-jin turned to the Aerandir, smiling as he did so. "Hey Bobo, how's it going?"

She paused, seeming to fidget for a little while, not really sure what to say. "I... uhh..." she murmured, pulling uncertainly at one of her bushy pigtails.

Her uncertainty made Kiro frown a little in concern. "What's wrong?"

"I nunno where Su went to..."

Oh. It was just that. Nothing to worry about then - Tsu already had a reputation for liking hide and seek. Didn't mean Kiro didn't worry when he did it, but it was a likely explaination for his disappearence. He grinned at Pueblo. "Tsu's just playing a game Bobo. He plays it with me all the time. Did your mommy never play hide-go-seek with you before?" By this point, Kiro had gotten down from the seat and was kneeling on the floor, watching her in a reassuring manner.

He wasn't used to interacting with people younger than him... and he found it surprisingly easy...

Pueblo's expression looked a little lost as she nodded, one uncertain hand still on the thick section on her hair. "Uh-huh..."

Kiro continued smiling. She must be worried he was angry. Which he certainly wasn't. Tsu would show up eventually, after all running away was no fun at all. Tsu would get bored of that in about five minutes. Whereas watching them try to find him for fifteen would be the height of fun. "Well, you know what we're supposed to do now?" He couldn't hide a good-natured chuckle at her confused expression. "We go and find him, don't we? I bet he's in this room somewhere, right?" Another nod. "Where should we look first then?"

"Un'er the bed!" She declared boldly, pointing through towards 'her bed' as she powered through, suddenly the very picture of enthusiasm.

Kiro grinned broadly as he followed her. He had already seen Tsu's hiding place behind The Book, which had been idly left on the desk when he'd answered Pueblo's summons. Now, Tsu was poking his head out from behind it with a seemingly disappointed "peep!"

"Found him yet, Bobo?"

Seeming almost dejected, she crawled out from under the bed. "Nu-uh..."

Leadingly, Kiro murmured, "I was sure I heard something around the desk... don't know what it could've been..."

Heh, yup. That had been the right thing to say. No sooner had he finished the sentance than Pueblo was rushing away towards the desk. She was, however, too short to see over it. She jumped up once or twice before turning to Kiro, looking for help.

"Want a hand there?" he asked, leaning down and picking her up around the middle, hoisting her up so she was sitting on the desk.

She giggled happily at that. "Suuuu...?" she then said, reaching towards the book to move it, that and the journal being the only things on the desk.

"Peep!" called Tsukai upon being discovered, bouncing effortlessly onto her head and fluttering his wings there for a second.

Her expression was one of surprise, but definate triumph. "Yay!! We found Su!!"

Kiro grinned broadly as he then put her and the smaller Aerandir on the ground. "So, Bobo, if he does that again either come find me, or find him, okay?" He petted Tsukai, who was sitting on her head with a slightly quieter grin. "He's quite the sneaky one, y'know?"

"Peep!" Oh yes, Kiro's tone had indicated mischiveious things, and that amused Tsu no end.

It's so strange seeing the two of them playing together. I'm not even sure how much they understand each other. I don't think Tsukai understands much of what I say, but only the tone I say it in. I wonder if he and Pueblo have some kind of link that helps them understand each other better? But then I suppose adult neko-jin have trouble understanding the kits at first... maybe it's the same kind of thing?

In any event, we played a little hide and seek just now, curtesy of Tsukai. I'm wondering whether it'll be worth me copying up these journal entries so Fae can put them in her data-log when she gets back?

Kiro paused in thought, lifting his eyes from the page and wondering where his two charges had gone. He decided to copy the entries up anyway; if she decided she didn't need them it was no big deal in the end...
