Haki nodded, beaming. "s'pecial to me, kaaay?" she said whispering the words frantically. She wanted him to understand that she was doing him a major favor... and that he should appreciate it with just as much awe.
Besides. It wasn't as if she had a habit of playing with it.
Scooting onto the chair, and then reaching for the shiny pink orb that seemed to glow slightly, she picked it up. The weight was heavy enough, but it was much ligher than the cracked ming vase.
At the thought, Haki winced. Now how would she explain it to Marc? Maybe 'the monster did it. See? I told you they exist' might work... hmm. Or she'd distract him by calling Hadrian.
You know, that sounded like a great idea.
From the other room, a slight curse was heard as Marc tried to get his bearings. And Haki smirked.
"Special special." she whispered.

He nodded, still speechless with awe. He gingerly took the glowing orb. He'd have to take special care not to break this.
"Very speshul," he nodded again, putting it in his pocket next to the money. That 'completed' feeling was cropping up again. Something good was going to happen with these things. "I won't breaked it."
Next on his list of unexplainable things to find? Something told him he wanted food, and no it wasn't his stomach for once. Food. Good food. What was good food? Hamlet had good food! Next stop: the friendly man's place!
"Next getting good food," he said with a determined smile. "Come wit me?"
He was an escape artist at getting out of apartments. Getting into them was a different matter entirely. Haki could help!

Haki hesitated. She should stay back and wait and see if Marc got up, and fuse any temper tantrum that resulted from being up at night when the man clearly wanted to sleep.
But she wanted food too, and this sounded too attractive for her to turn down. "Uh huh!" she beamed, nodding her head. "Food yummy?" Maybe he'd go for something gross, like celery. Or something really good, like chocolate sticks. Whatever it was, she decided she needed to keep an eye on him.
And find out for herself why he was out at night, looking for strange things. Huh. What a silly boy. It must be the feathers.
"...Haki?" a voice said quietly, and Haki stilled to see that Marc was standing in front of his own door, eyes unfocused as he listened for a sound. Haki took in a quick breath.
As long as he didn't look around, it was fine.
Or look down.

((For this I'm assuming the blanket is still around ^^; ))
"Food very yummy!"
Gavin wondered if maybe Haki liked dog food too. He could share some! Especially if she helped him. Because he was a nice gentleman like that.
He tensed when he saw Haki's Daddee coming out from the other room. Oh, he was going to be in so much trouble if Marc saw him. Seeing Haki's lace blanket still nearby, he thought fast, grabbed it, and pulled it over himself.
Because, you know, a blanket-covered lump with two little wings sticking out was totally not obvious.

Haki saw the action and unable to help herself, let out a short snigger. Rushing out and around the boy, she stood on the other side and waved at Marc.
"Sorry daddee." she said sweetly. "I pushed book off bed." Well, that would be pausible enough. Sometimes he did leave the book on the bed after reading to her. She wished that maybe her dad had such bad night vision, he wouldn't be able to see the squirming form on the ground. Or the wings.
Although they WERE pretty.
"You okay?" Marc looked down at his girl, concerned, and missed the thing on the ground because of the angle. He did see a flash of orange, and decided it must be one of Haki's plates.
"Uh huh." she beamed, nodding her head and patted Marc on the knee. 'Night, daddee." she said sweetly, and waited for him to disappear being tugging the blanket off the hawk boy.
"Safe now." She liked this adventure thing!

So this is what it felt like to be so close to Death.
He cowered under his blanket while Haki seemed to take care of everything. She was a very good helper! He'd have to do special things for her later. Maybe more bathtime. She seemed to like that.
"We go now?" he asked, now that the coast was clear. He was all energized now. Adventure time! He pointed toward the exit.

Haki nodded. Maybe she should offer to help carry something... but she didn't want to hold anything that might weigh her down, and it was Gavin's eccentricity, after all.
If it was up to her, she would probably just have picked something light and easy to carry. But maybe this was the way a boy's mind worked, making things more complicated then they needed to be.
"Open." she told the door, and it complied, leaving her standing there. "Where, avin?" she asked.

"Upstairs," Gavin walked outside and pointed up. Thank goodness that the friendly man lived right above Haki. He didn't want to go too far tonight, since he was already getting tired.
"Friendly man lives there," he smiled. "And Hamit. Need Hamit's food."
Of course, he failed to mention that Hamlet was a dog, but Haki didn't need to know that. As far as he knew, dog food was people food too!
"Come!" he giggled as he started up the stairs.

"Hamit?" she asked, her voice louder now than they were outside. She left the door open by a fraction as she made her way up the stairs. Stairs, was it? Well. Maybe she could do a couple.
And who was this Hamit?
"Hamit pretty?" it wasn't jealousy. Not really. But the thing's name started with a 'HA' to, so what if it was prettier than Haki, and Gavin decided he wanted to be Hamit's hero more than her own?
...
It was a good thing she had decided to follow.

"Hamit fluffy like Ina!" he smiled. He liked the puppy a lot. Almost as much as its food. He carefully climbed the stairs, strategically and quickly. After doing so many of them he was finally getting the hang of it. "Hamit's food taste good too. Ate some yesterday."
He'd have to get her to try some. Finally he reached the door to Tristan's apartment. Now how to get in. Window or door?
"Think door open?" he asked Haki. That was the most obvious way of getting in. There was just the little fact that most people liked to keep theirs locked.

Haki scowled. Just as fluffy as Ina, was it? Wait. Like Ina? Dreading the meeting of another girl with fluffy ears and a fluffy tail, probably in white and pink, Haki gave a sulky.
"Try door." answer as a response.
She didn't like the stairs. She didn't like the fact that she had given Gavin something special to have him take her to meet this Hamit. (It didn't sound as good as Haki though- that she was relieved at).

Gavin blinked at her sulking. Maybe she didn't like puppies. That wouldn't be good. He'd still have to get her to try Hamlet's food though. That stuff just couldn't be beat.
"Okay," he murmured, feeling that maybe he hurt her feelings without realizing it. He walked up to the door and reached for the handle, just barely grabbing it. Giving it a turn, the door swung open.
"It's open!" he smiled back at her, hoping that the conquest might make her feel better.

Of course it was open. She had said it was, hadn't she? It showed-- she was better than any Hamit. No matter how cute and fluffy she might be. That b***h. With a frown, she followed him inside.
"Hamit prettier than me?" she asked, sticking close just in case the fluffy girl decided to make a jump for her Gavin. Just wait until that happened! She was going to conk the girl on the end with the orb.
"Where Hamit food?"

To put it lightly, Hamlet was a wimp. If Tristan had wanted a dog to protect himself from a home invasion, be it robbers or two toddlers on a quest for dog food, he had picked the wrong puppy. Sure enough Hamlet was in his little doggie bed somewhere off in the boxes, cowering, woken by the two children.
Yet as the puppy listened he recognized one of the voices, the little bird boy who had pet him the other day. Ooo, maybe he could get more petting. Tristan had ignored him that night, working in his office, so he was desperate for petting.
He got up to go look and padded over to the door and the two children... wait. Two? Great, twice as much petting. He barked seeing them, to make sure he was noticed. Who cared about waking sleeping people up, he demanded peting and attention.

"Hamit fluffy not pretty," Gavin said matter-of-factly, though he valued both qualities the same. If it was fluffy, he could hug and pet it. If it was pretty, he could stare at it for hours. Hamlet was fluffy, but he'd get bored staring at a puppy for more than five minutes.
Speak of the devil, here came Hamlet now! Gavin perked up at the sight of the puppy, toddling over to him and patting him on the head.
"This is Hamit!" he giggled, scratching him behind the ears.
