At Marc's comment of understanding, Hadrian felt a sudden surge of panic - Marc was taking it the wrong way. How? He just...knew. He knew Marc, and had a feeling that it was going badly.
He didn't want the other to think that...what? That he'd already let Thorn 'score' once? No.
"Marc, I would never, in my right mind, fall for his tricks."
Fervently spoken.
And...it was true. Because when he was in his right mind he didn't; he just fell for them when he was distraught or drunk. But he couldn't let his lover know that, because he shouldn't have to deal with that.
The mage still held guilt over that whole thing, so the last thing he wanted to do was hurt Marc. Again.

If Marc had been a little bit more melodramatic, he would have sighed wistfully. But it was a touch too strong for him, and so he nodded. He didn't break off the eyes. He didn't want to- it helped, to see them. To hear the note behind the voice and see it echoed.
He nodded. "I know."
He did know. Logically. And logic was what held him here. Logic made the world work, so it must work in this relationship too. "Logically." he added, because he couldn't stop himself.
"I know you would never fall for them, if you knew them as tricks. But Thorn is smart."
He was.
Which was why he was worried in the first place.
"It's... nothing, Hadrian." he got up, tried for a smile. There, see? It was somewhat successful.

Well, Hadrian knew them as tricks now. He'd learned through an interesting (And not about to tell his lover) manner, but...well, sometimes lesson's took a repeat before sticking. Because while when he was calm he could recognize Thorn's tricks for what they were, when he was upset that knowledge flew out the window.
He just couldn't seem to not trust Thorn. He knew he shouldn't, he tried not too - but when he was upset or arguing with Marc, instinctively, he trusted the one man he shouldn't. It didn't make any sense.
But this - this wasn't an argument, not really.
Watching Marc with worried eyes, he knew that the other man was more bothered by this then he was pretending; the fake smile was just proof of that.
"Let's just...try to enjoy ourselves tonight, alright?"
He needed to enjoy himself around Marc. It seemed like, except for a few occasions, there was always something that bittered the mood when he was around his lover.

Marc smiled. But it was dimmer. Why did this have to happen today? Tomorrow, the next week? Another day, and maybe he wouldn't have felt so affected by any of it. Or so he told himself. Because this was now, and he nodded.
He nodded because to shake his head would imply something more complicated than the man could handle.
"Okay." he said, quietly. Not, down, but as if he had a lot on his mind he wanted to work through first. He approached the man and nipped him on the corner of his lower lip, smiling.
Kissing him, it still felt the same. Other than the wonder-- had Thorn kissed him here too?
"I'll pick you up at eight?"

"Sounds good."
Hadrian wrapped his arm around Marc for the goodbye, smiling softly back at the other man. Whatever his outward expression showed, he was panicing inwardly; because he didn't want Marc to get the wrong idea about Thorn and him.
And the 'wrong idea' wasn't too entirely off base, or at least hadn't been when he was drunk.
But he was doing a pretty good job of hiding that..he thought.
((So, do we jump to then?))

((Yes we do!))
At eight o'clock, he turned on Haki's favorite Disney cartoon on (three guesses~) and nodded his head. It would be enough to have her fall asleep. Was it bribery, encouraging bad habits on the younger generation?
Well, whatever worked.
At eight o'clock, he was dressed in a simple, if casual outfit and with an air of some what justified nervousnes, he knocked on Hadrian's door. Because he wanted to do everything properly, this time. And make sure everything went smoothly.
It very rarely did.
Unless it involved an apology.

Answering the door, Hadrian smiled at Marc; it was nervous as well, and even shared some of the same reasons. Their dates...something always went wrong on them. Whether it be because they're interrupted by someone or they get in an argument, they tended to be interesting.
"Good evening."
He was dressed - well, as he was always dressed, just slightly nicer. He wasn't really the sort of person to wear jeans and a t-shirt, so he tended to look nice most of the time.
Stepping out, he closed the door behind him.
"Ismet is at Dacian's tonight. Ahneta has company, and since we're out tonight, we decided to send him over there."
He hadn't exactly been happy about it, but ah well.

Marc grinned. A slow grin as he nodded his head. "I've got Haki hooked on a disney movie. She'll watch it, drift off to sleep and probably wake me up tomorrow morning wanting to be a princess." he shrugged, and as he did so, leaned forewords to touch the mage.
It was such a stupid habit.
One hand in a gesture to tuck a stray luck behind the mage's ear, hesitating over the bottom of the ear and lingering as he leaned forewords to kiss him. See? Everything would be alright.
"So. We have your apartment to ourselves?" He murmured. "Why not go out at all, then?"

Giving a wink at Marc that - given what he was about to say - could be taken as either innocent or sly, he spoke.
"Only if you cook."
Because he wasn't cooking tonight...and that definintly implied they'd be needing the energy. And they probably would, if they were going to cut the 'date' short and spend it in.
Ah, this was better. Marc didn't seem to be thinking about earlier at all, and was...well, himself. This was what he liked.

Marc grinned. See? They could work things out! Bumping him with his hips, he nudged the other man into the room, reaching for the door and closing it behind him. They were at their best when it involved sex. When they were indoors and...
Marc wondered if Thorn tried to woo him by taking Hadrian to expensive resteraunts.
... and stuff.
The thought came out of nowhere. Mean, nasty, and he shook his head to clear it away as he moved towards the kitchen. "Why don't we order a pizza, open a few bottles of beer, watch a... video." he arched a brow. One of THOSE videos. Marc knew he could find one on cable somewhere. "And then play with dessert?"
See? Marc didn't need to woo Hadrian with expensive resteraunts. He could do it with sex. And dessert. And pizza.
Right?

The grin that spread across Hadrian's face at this - uncharacteristic way of spending the evening made it clear that it amused him. And it sounded entertaining, so why not?
And he liked pizza. It was 'exotic' to him, but something that was becomming familiar; so this would be nice.
Of course, he didn't consider what kind of 'video' Marc was suggesting.
"That sounds like it could be a night well spent," warmth in his tone...this would be fun. Things always seemed to go wrong if they went out - but if they still had a date but stayed in? That would work, right?
Well...he hoped it would.
"The phone's beside the fridge."
Not that he ever really used it...

Marc knew he had installed a cable line here, when his decorator had decorated the place. Partially because it had been two for the price one, and it hadn't entered his mind just what he could do with it.
Upstairs, he had unsubscribed from the full set of channels because Haki was dangerous with the remote. But down here, Marc wasn't even sure of Hadrian knew he had cable.
"Get us something to drink?" he asked, moving to the form and pressing in the number. Haki adored delivery, and Marc didn't really understand why. Two large pizza's would be enough. In case they needed sustenence... after.
After.
Marc wondered if Thorn tried to feed Hadrian.
Marc pushed the thought out of his mind, and ordered.

"You wanted beer, you said?"
Luckily, there was beer in the fridge. Marc's, of course - all the acohol in the flat was Marc's. While Hadrian wasn't willing to drink around Thorn anymore, he had no problems drinking around Marc...he could trust Marc to not do anything he wouldn't want to do while sober.
So, the mage pulled two beers out of the fridge. He had to build up a tolerance to alcohol somehow.
And Marc was right; he didn't know he had cable.
Carrying them into the living room, he glanced around.
Remote, remote, where was the remote...

Marc grinned, putting down the phone. "Twenty minutes." he said, nodding his head. It was always twenty minutes. "It's like they have some kind of spying system." he joked, lightly of course. Following Hadrian and sitting down on the longest couch, he patted the seat next to him.
And held check a rather lavicious grin with a smile.
"Over there." he pointed, to Hadrian's left. He had seen the familiar flash of gray. Didn't Hadrian recognize it by so little? It truly showed just how sheltered the scientist was when it came to the power of cable.
"So, my choice of movie?" he asked innocently.

Sheltered? Oh yes. He had no idea that it was even legal for people to make films such as what Marc was likely planning on putting it on.
He grabbed the remote, and handed it over to Marc.
"Yes, you can pick...I'm afraid I don't know what's good, since I don't watch it all that often."
Try 'at all'. It was only on when Ismet was there, and wanted background noise...though even the snake didn't watch it much; he preferred hs books. So, sitting down beside his lover, he trusted the other man to pick out a 'good' movie.
