I've never seen that, but I have seen 'Pro-choice is the odd belief that women need surgery to be equal to men.'

Same question, switched around:
"Men get to keep their bodily integrity even after thousands of sex partners, so why shouldn't women?"

Lupine Pyrefly I've never seen that, but I have seen 'Pro-choice is the odd belief that women need surgery to be equal to men.' As if we all get abortions rolleyes How's this? "Pro-life is the odd belief that women cannot be equal to men." EDIT: Ehh. I just saw in a PLG member's sig: "Every abortion just further lends to the idea that women are the weaker sex." Uhh, WTF? How does an abortion make one weaker? Is the fact that a woman doesn't want to be a mother somehow make her inferior to others?

That "Pro-Choice is the odd belief that women need surgery to be equal to men" is such bullshit.
Pro-Choice is the believe that ALL people have the right to dictate what goes on in their body, men and women. And if something goes on in that body that they don't like that requires surgery to stop, then surgery is an option.
If you followed their statement, couldn't it be easily twisted to say that people who are pro-cancer research have an odd belief that cancer patients need surgery/physical therapy to be equal to the rest of us? Honestly, what kind of ******** up logic is that?
I suppose we should outlaw breast exams and breast cancer treatments as well while we're at it because men don't have to go through it and it is therefore only serving to promote the idea that women are the "weaker sex."

By the same logic, because women don't get testicular cancer or prostate cancer, men dont need treatment for that either.

cat__claw psst - men do get breast cancer. My grandfather had it. true. So what about people with both genders? (Very rare yes, slightly distubing yes, but it happens.) do they have no rights what-so-ever? edit: ever read that report that says if women were paid to work at home, all that they would be doing would go into at least 6 digits?

Movie stars pay hundreds of thousands, if not millions of dollars for live-in cooks, cleaners, tutors, and nannies. Women do it all for free.

This whole thing about men and women not being equal is just Conservitive theology. Religion preaches lies about women inferiority and that the male is the greater sex. It is all hogwash. I am a guy, I understand that by the simple fact if I have sex nothing is harmed however though if I sleep with a diseased women, it does affect my body just like affects everything else. Like in biology we as mammals are sexual life forms. It is ironic to a point that both men and womyn carry the opposite sex`s hormones. There are amounts of estro in men and amounts of testrones in women.....It is the simple fact life. No one should ever be discriminated against they are beings with feelings. THat should always be taken in account for. Being Pro-Choice is being true to yourself and being able to have that personal liberty. No government should tell what to do with your body. It is wrong and immoral.

We can't just ignore bilogical differences between men and women, there are some differences that do need accomodations. Hey guess what, men can't take birth control pills, but does that mean we shouldn't be able to? We can't piss standing up, does that mean men should have to pee sitting down like we do?

Freedom Fire We can't just ignore bilogical differences between men and women, there are some differences that do need accomodations. To a certain extent. However, women can pee standing up (thanks to many years of camping, I can do it and aim too) and men can pee sitting down (I make my man do it because he has horrible aim and he always gets pee all over the walls. It's gross). So even biological "facts" are rather cloudy because some really aren't as different as people think. And all of this "men are better at math and women are better at taking care of kids" bullshit just pisses me off. There is absolutely NO evidence to show that this is true that can't easily be dismissed as socialization.

Oh, god, this one's just too easy. *sigh* Just when I think people can't possibly get any dumber.... Kukushka Yup, there's people out there who actually think that they are both. What they fail to realize, however, is that applying a single set of "women feel" to all women and taking away their choice to feel differently is NOT what the feminist movement was about. "All women want to stay at home and be angels of the hearth whose entire lives revolve around pleasing their husbands. It's just because economic situations make a double income necessary that they don't!" Yeah, where have I heard THAT before? I really don't understand it, either. I've heard them say things like "It takes away a woman's greatest power: being able to have children." Which, first of all, being able to create life inside your body IS an amazing ability and women should see that as a form of power, BUT, it is not the only power we have. Second, this gift of ours is also part curse: we can get pregnant when we don't want to be or shouldn't be pregnant. It's far more empowering for us to know that our ability to create life is not compulsory. Motherhood is an incredible act of sacrifice and love, but only when a woman chooses to love that child and is not forced to. They also say that it makes us (feminists) selfish. We would do anything, even kill, to be equal. Well, of course feminism is selfish, but understandably so. We live for ourselves, not for men or children. And this began with a realization that we are the only people who should be in charge of our lives. So no one has the right to tell us what to do with our bodies.
