Saphen

PostPosted: Sun Jul 23, 2006 7:51 pm

Saphen smiled as his opponent apparently had no counter for the piece of metal that flew behind him and watched as it made its mark on his opponent's mid section. The changing of the metal was a percaution but not the full part of his attack. While letting his opponent concentrate on one thing, the minor things are the ones people often missed and this was something he did miss, a major flaw. While the gravity concentrated on the wall the blade would pierce through him and Saphen would make sure that the gravity would not move it off of its course with full concentration since his opponent was not making any offensive moves he decided to continue with his onslaught. The opponent couldnt move since he had moved most of the floor and moving would cause a ring out but that didnt even matter since his strike from behind was undefended against. Saphen breathed heavily with a smile. "It has been a very good match my friend but there is nothing you can do here." he whispered as the blade would reach its mark with out threat. His body has also gained much of his energy back since his opponent has been on the defensive for much of the time, and this time was no different. What about the stainless steel one would question? Ahh yes that would be the important question but as the blade moved into ranged it returned to the solid steel it was before reinforced time and time again as it moved in flight. He thought he may have to keep the ploy just in case his opponent did notice it but now the blade returned to its stronger mark and only the careful guidance of Saphen's control would be needed to make sure it struck true.

Simply mistakes always make fights all the more fun. The gravitational field was pulling the wall apart, meaning even with the blade coming at that speed it would be ripped apart into small shreads of metal. But, Hakkai hadn't even shown his other power yet.
As akward as it may sound, Hakkai actually dabbled in geokenisis*. The metal coming at him would be suspended in the air.

Geokenisis* The ability to manipulate the earth, earthly materials (Stone, metal and sand)

Saphen stared at the situation for a moment pondering the posibilties of how this attack could turn out. While the possibility of his blade could be countered if it came from the front the attack had come off of the back wall behind his opponent. The wall behind Hakkai was turned to metal and thus it came from the rear, an area away from the sense known as sight. Hakkai could not sense the blade by normal means with the loud rumbling of the wall of metal it self surging towards him. Saphen's prime and only ability was his control over the earthly elements in their entirety. So inturn even if Hakkai had some knowledge of the skill he could not merely dart the blade due to Saphens full concentration to control it. With this important factor in mind Hakkai would only have time to defend against one of the attacks. The lumbering wall or the blade that flew at his midsection. Jumping would cause the wall to knouck him off course and fall out of rink with out a floor. Both options are fatal and thus the problem arises as to which Hakkai would beable to counter.

Saphen realized he would have a problem as the wall was being grinded down and his blade destroyed. A grin traced over his face as he realized a new aim of attack. With most of the arena as a ring out zone if any of them should fall the only thing holding his opponent up was the small stones under his feet. His gravitation field could not be a sphere around it otherwise it would have destroyed the stones under his feet. Assuming that it was a half sphere Saphen had one method of attack. Some of the metal from the top of the wall as well as the wall behind his opponent were removed and flew down innocently unnoticed with the destruction of his wall underway. Along with falling pieces of his weapon they began to warp and change once more into a small powder which layed at the base of his footing. Two larger fragments but not large enough to be noticed became flint and quickly clapped together. The powder that was at the base of his footing was an explosive powder specifically the kind you can find in TnT and was entirely smokeless as opposed to black powder. The small explosion that occured was carefully controlled by Saphen so the field his opponent was producing would not interfere with the powder's placement nor could be moved by such since it would destroy his footing anyways if excessive force was placed there. Due to the wall's large scale if he tried to move out of his footing he would have no where to go due to ring out with out a floor and the wall it self would end up crushing him if he didnt concentrate on his gravitation field. The sheer weight alone would account for that. As the powder ignited his footing would be destroyed and a ring out should occur. Even if his opponent had the ability too fly the wall would be free from his gravitaiton field crushing him under it. The explosion would cause the stone around it to be entirely destroyed and thus not able to be reformed into footing. If he tried to pull metal from his wall his own gravitation field would destroy it. If he tried to stop the field while doing so again he would be crushed by the wall's weight. The explosion now trigged Saphen's sight stared once more through the earthly ements ready to counter if in some amazing feet his opponent would once again survive a near miss event.

"I am sick, and tired of playing the defense" Hakkai yelled, over the loud explosions. His hands held outwards. Under his feet rested his necklace balls. Holding him in the air. Suspoened above the arena, the TNT only burned his clothing. His body was only slightly charred, mainly he was covered in ash. The explosion was to small for him to actually fly back, or get severly damaged.

His feet had never moved, nor did any part of his body. As the explosion ignited, he had slight second. Which was all he needed to move the balls to his feet. The wall which was above him had been torn in an arch like fashion, due to the shape of the field. This would provide him with the coverage against the wall collapsing.

Saphen had forgotten something, something very important. Near by, only about 20 feet from him rested the small ball, covered by sand. The ball rose from the sand. It shot forward, rushing at the man's collarbone.
If it hit, it should break bone.

Saphen cursed loudly in anger as the attack did nothing but before he could get angry he sensed a rushing piece of earth coming at him. He quickly darted running across the wall his feet planted to the arena side, being of course made of the hard earth he had grown to love over the years. His opponent's mistake was to have his bullet for lack of better words covered in an earthly element. Saphen's body had a natural attunement with what most people would consider mere dirt and metal and was able to sense the obvious rushing movement almost instantly.

While he darted to his right he didnt stop moving in case the ball could follow him but he did continue his offensive. The entire wall was still mostly together and useable for an assault. Most of his energy was well returned and could be used to attack once more. Saphen snarled spitting out words of command in frustration as half the wall, the bottom half to be exact turned into the similar TNT powder and instantly ignited as it fell creating a massive explosion around his opponent pushing the other half of his wall up into the air alittle falling away from his opponent and landing between the two fighters. This would prevent a sudden foward push of his opponent. The explosion being so sudden it could not merely be dodged and Saphen while running foward along the wall would prevent his opponent's geokenisis from merely pushing the powder away keeping his energy incontact with his powder as it was ignited again by two small pieces of flint hidden amongst the falling powder.

The explosion would most likely perform one of two actions (Saphen hoped atleast.) An explosion of this magnitude which would easily fill half the arena and send his opponent either to his mortal doom or send him into the ring out directly below him since the literal force of the attack would push just about anything down (Even Saphen's good friend Grim's ego might have been moved by such a force.) Saphen continued to keep his pace running and suddenly darted upwards to make sure he didnt lose running room just in case the bullet would try to push him into the explosion as he kept an eye on his opponent through the explosion and remained wary of the bullet that would most likely follow him if his opponent could pull a Jesus and survive the giant burning cross he just dropped on him.

Hakkai was already at work when the explosion ignited. He had yet to show what he could do. And this battle had not come to face to face combat. He would not lose yet.

His body went flying backwards. But kept a similar distance to the ground. Thanks to an increase of the gravitational pull on his body to the ground, he kept his weight much heavier as he flew through the air. This would keep him from gaining altitude, and ring out. As he approached the wall on the side, to prevent immedite death from impact, he began to create a reverse pull, which would push him away from the wall. The pushing of the wall was weaker than the pull of his body, but it still slowed him down much more.
Hakkai kneeled on the balls, which had acted like guides to keep him on his course. He had grown bored of standing on these object, and wanted realy fighting. His hands went outwards. His body contorted clsightly, he make akward movements. The arena floor, which had only been a few feet below 300 feet began to fill in. The smoke, ash and other materials from the explosion began to fall.

As he made about 15 feet of the arena 'grow' in height, it would barely be noticable. Only a few feet would be needed, and with the materials all around him. It wouldn't be hard.

Hakkai yelled as he did this "Stop fighting with this magic. Lets fight hand to hand!"

Saphen would waste no time in responding to his opponents frustrations as he would win this fight any way he had to. His opponent flying backwards was shocking considering the explosion came from above and would have forced him downwards. To reiterate this Saphen (during his flight mind you while he was working to increase the ground size) quickly moved the last half of his lumbering wall above his opponent and it bursted into blasting powder once more and ignited much closer to his opponent this time but not so close as to be effected by a sudden gravitaiton field. Even if the field could protect him his opponent would be surged downward his own field eating away at the very grown he had created or the explosion it self would already be breaking the ground with out much concern for the sad souls who might have to repair the arena afterwards. With such a minor amount as 15 feet this would proove easy to push his opponent well beyond 6 feet to ring him out. The initial explosion would not be the end of his attack oh no! he would make sure the force of this attack pushed his opponent directly downwards. Removing a substantial piece of metal (about 20 feet in both length and width, roughly anyways its not like Saphen was overly concerned with the perfect cube) from the wall behind his opponent it again bursted and ignited above him forcing a second impact to push Hakkai further. This one was not as great as the first initial one but if his opponent could lift him self from the explosion (highly unlikely as it may seem he would not take chances), the second impact of his new attack would again reinforce the large scale concussion that would force his opponent down again. Hakkai while a powerful fighter had not set up any defenses nor returned to a defensive stance during his flight and thus would not beable to defend against either of the large scale forces asserted above his body. Minor explosions around his body were ignited to keep the primary force a downward one, should he try to slide out of it while these forces were minor would force him to remain under the primary one (mostly due to the speed at which this attack was executed and the position of his opponent). These explosions were minor but also helped to stablize the major explosion it self like one might hold a nail with his fingers before slamming it into the wood. These minor attacks were also kept away just enough so as not to effect the powerful force of the two major attacks above his opponent (Some might ask if Saphen thought this through extremly well or was just plain lucky that logic was on his side...Saphen decided not to comment). His gravitation field might beable to keep him alive but the force of the impacts would drive Hakkai, field and all well below ring out level. With the amount of powder used the attack could easily send him 20 feet below the required distance for ring out and Saphen smiled as he remained wary of his opponents bullet still near the wall that he only needed 6. "You can call that a...creative use of my hands?" He grinned alittle but if for nothing else was happy that he was able to execute the attack so quickly as he caught his breath.

Hakkai forgot his raising of the ground, which had only rose about 3 inches. He quickly had the balls began to make him 'fly' higher. As he did, the explosion ignited, sending him in through the air. To keep himself at a certain level, he began to go into a backflip.

His body flipped through the air, his back faced to his enemy. The flip allowed him to control his altitude. The balls shot through the air, to reach Hakkai and aid him in this. His feet looked for them in the air, and when he found them, he pushed against them. His hands grabbed one ball each, making him curled up in the air.

He pushed off from the balls, which followed beside him. As he shot forward, his body was aimed at his opponent. He rotated his body so that his left arm was facing outwards, and his right pulled back for a punch.

Saphen shrugged, it was amazing how his opponent could stop his flight from an explosion, launch him self directly upwards right before two explosions occured and sensed this while seeking to reconstruct the entire arena floor and prevent his death from impact apon a wall. Saphen let it go though seeing as the past was the past regardless and concentrated on the moment. His opponent was flying at him in what appeared to be "Superman," fashion attempting for a punch with his right hand or some special attack to combo with his necklace.

Saphen stood looking up at his opponent as he stood on the wall. Timing of this would be crucial and would require him to wait until his opponent was extremly close. His opponent assuming the same course would get closer to him by the second. Saphen stood there waiting the stone block that he stood began to loosen unnoticed as the fine grains that held it in place began to break apart quietly. It did not need silence as his opponent was flying and the air rushing by his ears would be enough to mask the sound but to take this guy down he needed to be precise (Like the surgeon you would want for heart surgery. Could you imagine if this guy just started hacking away at your living flesh? Not a good day at all). As his opponent moved closer Saphen checked the one necklace piece which had not moved though the distance now was atleast 40 feet from his running and was not following so he was fine.

When his opponent was a mere 15 feet away from him Saphen executed his plan. The grains on the back of the stone were once more turned into the explosive powder and ignited. The block would have sent him out straight but Saphen shifted it slightly right before launch and he was shot at an angel downwards. As he ascended under his opponent his speed was too fast for the necklace beads to catch him in time since he was litterally shot off of the wall. The distance between him and his opponent at launch was also about a good 10 feet, enough to dodge the bullets even if they should fire. Was this the end? Never , he would not let his readers bore themselves with a mere dodge this called for the great spirit of story making to turn it into a Counter!

Yes as he flew dodging his opponents attack the loving block he use to know as footing now bursted into powder moving behind and around his opponents legs (or in other words behind his opponents flying body), the primary and secondary explosions covering any changes in motion (but with his opponents movement that was almost impossible to change anyways). So quickly ignited was the assault that even if his opponent could dart in the direction the shape of the explosion would still send him crashing foward into the broken wall (the minor explosions would push against any change in direction and thus keep the pressure of the explosion again in a straight foward motion, the same that his opponent added to by his flight.). Saphen was pushed away from the blast alittle but at this crucial point he was already 15-20 feet away and thus didnt send him into a crushing ring out as the metal armor he wore around his body was manipulated and supsended in air in turn keeping him afloat or in other words the ability of flight was not out of his grasp. The explosion along with the already slightly broken wall would easily send Hakkai through the wound he had inflicted apon the mighty structure. Since Saphen had waited so long he was slightly shaken by the explosion but quickly regained his composure as he surged his body to a near by wall to his left planting his feet on the now slightly hurt structure once more. Staring foward at the explosion this should proove victory or as the now overly depressed Saphen was now pondering "I hope he doesnt have a shield on his a**."

The explosion was as explained before performed quickly, so quick it even had impacted the user. The odds of doging this are slim, the powder fully controlled by the caster, the distance so close that any shield he put up would still send him flying (atleast keep him alive I suppose) through the arena wall which also counts as a ring out from the offical rules (I think you know them by now.) If his opponent tried to stop him self from flipping out of rink it would not work this time since Saphen had run up the wall and was much higher at the point of assault (close to the top of the arena at this point.) While the explosion for logic's sake should send him straight foward along with his pushing motion the posibility (no matter how ungodly slim...God could be mad at me so I better point this out) could occur if he went up or down or even sideways but those were almost impossible movements due to his opponents full rush in a straight line path along with the secondary explosions he had made to keep his good friend on course. Since his opponent took a direct path towards him and nothing would have changed his direction from the unmoving, hat wearing, earth manipulating man (Did I mention the hat?) there should be no alternate courses that would change the outcome of this attack. Would Saphen win this strike (possible), would it make him feel better (you bet your a** it would), did he think it was a nice attack (I enjoyed it atleast), do you care what Saphen thinks (please don't kill me). Saphen stood quietly catching his breath as the after thoughts (he often speaks to him self) during each calculation faded, his body now a good length away from the extra necklace bead that was slightly closer to him at his initial point of attack relaxed alittle and regained energy as he waited for his opponent to react to the trap he layed for him.

"Oh, s**t..." Hakkai spoke, before slamming into the rock wall. Or actually, to be exact through the rock wall. Its a damn good thing Saphen had moved, or else his body would have quite a large hole in it.

The explosion only slowed Hakkai down, the wound in the wall much less than it would have been had there been no explosion. Going at the speed he was, and at the point the explosion ingited, he would have just barely missed the main debre scatter. His body was made to take abuse. Seriously, look at the guy. He is older than most of the fighters in the tournament (he looks much older).

Hakkai stood on the necklace pieces, looking at his hand imbedded in the wall. During the flight he had increased the gravitational pull of the wall. And he had also increased the pull of his hand. Making for quite an attack. His gloves that he wore, which seemed like simple leatehr gloves with added fighting 'brass' knuckles true power would be shown. They were ment to protect his hand in case of similar attacks, or to add an extra 'hurt' to his punches.

He stood, looking at his hand. As he pulled it out, the wall where he had imbedded his hand broke. He was tired of this 'explosions' the man created. Annoying as hell.

His body turned, looking at Saphen. He shot upwards, the necklace pieces holding him up. He shot forward quickly, the necklace pieces actually carring him unlike before. This time he did not show what kind of attack he was making.
-------------
(Side note)
Transmution an object (your steel to explosive) would actually be very noticable. Changing chemicals would make the colors in most cases change. And since gunpowder (I assume thats what you created) is dark to black, it would actually be very easy to tell apart from the lighter colored stainless steel, or earth.
PostPosted: Thu Jul 27, 2006 7:14 pm

He held his hand up with a smile. "Sorry my friend you have lost this match as you went through the wall which counts as a ring out." He lifted his hat and gave a nod and bow. "It was a good fight indeed." he stated quietly watching him fly towards him but being ready just in case his opponent could not stop him self and might (accidentally of course) remove all the organs from his body with a single blow. (which would probably hurt)
____
Side note (The explosion was set behind you, which means the concussion from the explosion would have pushed out in all directions. this would have furthered your speed directly into the wall and through it as you stated the items that would have flown because of the explosion would have had nothing to do with your speed. I was not altering the rock in a chemical reaction but loosening it before it shot off at the last second *which is when the chemicals than changed.* Since I also turned only the stone behind the main brick into powder to launch my self, you wouldnt have been able to see the reaction anyways. I than altered the stone behind you, you would not have seen the color reaction that occurs when the rock changes into a different substance. The minor explosions are exactly how I stated *minor* would have had little to no effect on the two primary forces moving in that direction (Your attack and my primary explosion) Since these two forces were the strongest it merely gave a slight push to keep the direction of your assault centered thus pushing you through the wall and ringing you out.)

The orbs which had just miliseconds ago been aimed on killing the man, where aimed to slow Hakkai. His body twisted in the air, the orbs being used as hand grips. The balls pulled in the opposite direction. Still, it would not be enough to completly stop him from barreling into his opponent, and probably bringing them both to the ground.

Saphen stared seeing the problem and did the only thing he could think of to save him self in time from the impact. Once again he loosened a block of stone from the wall. Creating blast powder behind the block quickly, he had no time to aim him self in any safe direction as he set off the explosion the block flying out of the wall launching him downwards. Staring up as his feet rested on the block from his view he looked straight and passed under his opponent mostly unharmed but turned his opponent's target area into sand so that the impact would be soft for Hakkai. Slightly dizzy Saphen managed to pull the block under him as he flew using all of his control of this truly stubborn element to stop him self from slamming into floor of the arena. So close was he to slamming into the floor the stone he stood on had scrapped against it slightly. Saphen stared up at Hakkai hoping that the sand would be enough to atleast soften the blow of the impact.
