Eldin watched the man and the powers he was releasing. Looked like this fight wasn't going to go anywhere unless he made a move. he already had a plan, but had been hesitant to use it because of his kind nature, but now he relaized that it was important for him to keep going, so he mentally prepared himself and began his move. Right now Dane was in a position where he was prepared because of the Channeler's foolish hesitation. Before Eldin tried what he wanted, he'd need to make sure that wasn't true.

More invisible energy poured out of his soul and into the air, this time coming from the part of him that was a fire spirit. By focusing Eldin ignited the oxgen between hismelf and his opponent, sending an explosive force of flame towards the man very quickly. Eldin, however, wa sonly planning to use this as a way to force the man's hand, so to speak. The yellow shield around him remained, and Eldin;s soul also began to release a few more types of energy, though he didn't channel it into the physical world yet.

The magic flared through the air like some sort of flamethrower from the boy's soul. The magic around the old mage took into the physical world and moved the air around him. The fire hit the rising crest of earth and smashed into the rock wall. (edit smile With the fire magic defeated, the old mage moved his staff the rock falling back to earth as the magic went from the physical world to the nonphysical.

Dane sighed, straightened his hat the best he could and took a step forward towards the kid. His staff pointed outwards and with it flew a chunk of rock, just a small one, but one laced with nonphysical magics which would protect the rock as it flew through Desura's outer defense and then once inside fling itself at the man as if shot from a gun.

"You still have much to learn, child."

EDIT:

"Yeah, but not from you."

It wasn't meant to be rude. Channelers didn't have much to learn from mages. Possibly technique, but he wasn't ready to be anyone's student but his family's just yet.

Eldin spoke but he didn't stop what he was doing to do so. That would waste time and be rather foolish. His actions carried on without interruption. Of course by the time he spoke he would already have his actions going because of the timing.

But for the moment his plan did work out to an extent. Dane had switched his magical powers into an attack. Eldin sensed some reserve magical forces the older man could use as a back-up but it was still the best time for himk to put his plan into motion considering they were far less than before.

In the meantime, Eldin had seen Dane pull up the rocks as defence and put his plans into motion. The earth elemental energy form his soul leeched into the ground through Eldin's feet and shot through the rocks at high speed, since it was this particular spirit's natural environment. The energy moved to the set-up Eldin had planned and formed a wide circle, fifteen feet in diameter, in front of him and between himself and Dane. Of course nothing could actually be seen yet. At the same time the energy was flowing through the earth below and turning the circle into a tube that swept beneath Desura in a curve before rounding out and going towards his opponent. By the time it was facing upwards it was directly under Dane and from there it formed a striaght path to the man. If Dane moved Eldin would adjust the energy accordingly. The distance from the surface to the lowest point of the tube of nonphysical energy beneath the mage was about twelve and a half feet.

Simultaneously, Eldin's mind opened up yet another channel of concentration and focused on the wind elemental energy he had poured out. It was concentrated on a circular area above Dane to match the circle of the spiritual tube the man was standing over. All of this was accomplished by the time Dane had begun to step forward, both circles adjusting to keep him at the center, and launch his "bullet" of earth.

Eldin's shield was dropped completely before the rock was even fired. It wasn't needed at the moment and would use up unnecessary concentration; Not that his Channeler mind didn't have plenty to spare but there was no sense in being wasteful. Some of his life spirit power was left around him for emergency channeling into the air if it became needed.

The earth in front of him swelled with spiritual power and then burst forth in a heavy launch of rock and debris, which Eldin's soul's earth spirit was aiming forward towards Dane. Its fifteen foot radius blast's spreading and slight upward angle made physically dodging difficult without very high agility. The rock the older man had fired was caught in the surge and rendered harmless for now, the physical and nonphysical properties on it both blocked by the similar effect of the stones Eldin was moving.

At this time the stones were being pulled out of the tube from the other end of the tube. The earth beneath Dane's feet would be pulled out from under him very quickly, as soon as the ones fromt he earth ahead of him started firing, causing him to descend with it. The rocks that were flinging out in his direction weren't meant to hit him, but to make him try to defend himself in vain only to have them fly over him as he was dropped down. They would also cover the area above the hole with dangerous projectiles to help prevent escape.

Finally, Eldin unleashed his wind spirit and created a downward gust of several hundred kilometer per hour winds, pushing the rocks above the hole downwards and adding to the pressure as well as the number of things working against Dane. Since the old mage seemed to rely at least a little on incantations Eldin was banking on him not having enough time to fully counter the maneuver. He was also banking on the fact that everything around Dane in terms of the air and earth at this moment, should he be puleld under as planned, would be being controlled by true spirits of their own element and therefore unable to be manipulated by Dane's magics directly.

If Eldin succeeded in his plan Dabe would drop more than ten feet below the arena floor, causing him to lose by way of ring-out and allowing Eldin not to have to harm the mage. Of course Eldin would stop the rocks from crushing the man as soon as he was forced down, should it all work out.

And if it didn't work out then Eldin might force his opponent to reveal any tricks they had up their sleeves.

As soon as the magics began to expell from the young channeler, the old mage rose his staff high into the air and played a small trump card. The staff flared in a brilliant light and expelled a very powerful magical shield (has a 5 foot radius from the center, Dane, thus making it 10 foot around. Yes it would go into the ground) about the Mage, and at the same time expelled a brilliant light from the tip. This would either a) pause any attacks, which would then be destroyed/blocked upon contact with the spherical shield, or b) the attacks would stop and the young channeler would have to choose another course of action.

"Maybe not."

Eldin was indeed blinded by the flash, but Dane wasn't counting on his opponent being a Channeler. Heck, Eldin himself was from another world. The old man had probably never heard of Channelers. But putting that aside, Eldin's brain was biological suited for high concentration and multitasking. It was necessary for his race's natural abiltiies. If they had human minds they'd be subject to constant headaches and other nasty side-effects, including death at high-levels of Channeling techniques.

All this really meant was that, even thoguh Eldin was momentarily blinded, his mind was operating at several channels at once so his other moves would go on without hinderance from one distraction.

In the meantime, Eldin's earth spirit went to work. The mage's shield did indeed extend below the ground at five feet down from the center of Dane's body and keep the Channeler's earth spirit from getting to him, but luckily that didn't matter right now. Eldin's spirit was in a circle with a fifteen feet radius from Dane's center, which meant that it wasn't even trying to touch him and was wider than the shield. It was merely sending physical vibrations through the earth below the mage to cause it to be pushed down and through the tube it had formed. In his haste to defend himself, Eldin figured Dane had probably anticipated a direct attack and was unaware of the plan to ring him out. But even if the earth within Dane's shield was safe, if the earth below and around it was moved down then it had little choice but to follow unless the barrier also blocked gravity somehow which was unlikely.

True Dane would feel no wind or pressure from above as Eldin's other spirit went to work and was blocked, but the mage would also still be carried down quickly as the earth was being forced out from beneath him by means outside of his defence. He had only a few bare seconds, about two, before enough of the earth was moved to drop him ten feet and even then some of that time would most likely be used up from realizing that his shield was being worked around.

Eldin could sense the barrier so he extended the lowest point of the tube down a several more feet to ensure the amount that was safe within it wasn't enough to extend the mage the extra distance he needed to remain within the ring.

Meanwhile several rocks and the wind itself would be pounding harmlessly on the shield Dane had formed, meaning that if he dropped it to try something else they would immediatly be free to start pushing him down as well.
