Kweu's tail continued to wag against the ground as she listened to the pair. It wasn't helping her listening skills that Motubawa kept twittering in her ear, but she did her best to ignore him for once.

"It's not uncommon for siblings not to be the same. Mine hated me," she told Zin with a heavy sigh. She jerked her head toward her left again and rolled her eyes.
"No, I'm not going to tell the story. And I'd greatly appreciate it if you stopped twittering and muttering in my ear when I'm trying to listen to what they're saying, if you don't mind," she sighed, then to Damalis and Zin, smiling slightly and shrugging as if her behavior was completely normal.

Damalis nodded, understanding the small pups tale quite well. Sliding down to a laying position, the chocolate colored wild dog let her own tail wag freely in the grass, happy to have some company to talk to for once. "Ah, I have a similar story... Sort of... I left my family when I was about your age to travel and no one wanted to join me." She shrugged, not at all in the mood to share her long past.

Her head tilted to the side slightly as Kweu began talking to what seemed to be the grass... Or air next to her. This confused her greatly and she blinked curiously. "Um... Who would you be talking to?"

Zinduka relaxed a bit more as he watched Damalis settle down beside him. They are not so different after all, Zinduka thought as he flicked his tail back and forth. The grass felt good under his small paws, and he was suddenly grateful that his fortunes had brought him to the two friendly and quite understand Wild Dogs.

He was puzzled, however, when Kweu seemed to begun conversing with no one in particular. Zin's nose twitched slightly as he glanced around cautionsly, trying to spot the invisible intruder. He had known from experience that it was a dangerous thing to be watched, but reasoned that if there was cause for alarm, the two older Wild Dogs would surely know what to do. Besides, as Zin noted, Kweu, from the tone of her voice, did not sound at all threatened by this invisible stranger. He too was curious about what Damalis had asked, so Zin simply looked at Kweu with a questioning look and waited for whatever explanation Kweu was about to offer.

Kweu sighed and she looked up to the sky. Yet anothre pair that couldn't see her friend.
"My friend Motubawa. He's a big bright bird that's been with me since I was a small pup. He came to me when my family mistreated me and promised that he'd help protect me and play with me. He was my only friend, but for some reason I'm the only one he'll let see him..." she explained and glared at him.
"And he doesn't make any sense when he tries to explain to me why he won't let others see him..." she added with a sigh, her tail flipping back and forth.

Well this was odd, very odd indeed. It seemed that Motubawa was an imaginary friend...? Possibly... But this being a new experience, Damalis attempted to play along as best as she could. "Well then... Can Motubawa see and here others, or is it just you?" Her ears flicked forward, curious to here her reply.

"Motubawa?" Zin was quite surprised, and frantically whirled around, fully expecting to see a big bright bird floating in the sky. There was nothing there; just the grass, simmering in the morning sun. Is she fooling with me...? That was the second thought that came to Zin's mind. Afterall, his brother had always fed him a mixture of truth and fiction... what was the last one... oh yeah, he had, with a serious face, told Zin that a monster lived in the hollows of the earth. Zin smiled ruefully; despite everything, he missed his brother. How could I have believed that, Zin wondered again.

But the more he look at Kweu, the more he doubted that she was fooling with him. She doesn't seem like the type, and her expression was anything but joking. So the next and only other explanation came to Zin's mind. "Is... he a spirit?" He asked Kweu hesitantly, not wanting to offend.

Kweu felt a little uneasy over all the questions and looked to Motubawa for support. He only shrugged before preening his feathers, so she mimicked the shrug.
"He can see and hear things, just like I can. He often warns me ahead of time of things, like when you were sneaking around in the grass, Zin... No, I don't think he's a spirit. Hmm... He might be, and then he might not. To my knowledge, he's just a bird with a few special tricks," she tried to explain. It was difficult, considering that although he'd been with her for as long as she could remember, she actually knew very little about his past. He never spoke of it and she never pried.

Damalis nodded, trying as hard as she could in her mind to find a logical explination. Finding nothing, she brought her thoughts back down to where she was, her tail flicking back and forth, showing a relaxed pose. "Ah... Well it's a pleasure to meet you as well, Motubawa." She looked over to the empty space next to Kweu, imagining as hard as she could that there was an actual beautiful, bright bird sitting comfortably next to her.

(( I'm off to a friend's cabin for the next 6 days... So I'll reply when I get home. sweatdrop ))

Zin blinked, still a bit confused about the whole situation; He was trying to understand as best he could, but well, it was very difficult. Absentmindedly he shifted his weight to his other feet and scratched his leg with one paw. "yeah, it's nice to meet you, Motubawa," Zin echoed Damalis, still looking around for the bird. He had some questions, but somehow felt awkward voicing them to the invisible bird. So, he did what he thought was proper: he kept quiet about it.

"So..." Zin began, "where were you guys headed?"

((that's fine. ^^))

Kweu's eyes widened a bit. These two were the first to ever accept Motubawa's existance before. Everyone else had called her crazy or other cruel names. She shot a look to her friend when he commented on the introductions.
"Motu! That's rude. They're trying to understand," she scolded and turned to the others with a small smile. "Best not try to talk to him. He's not very nice right now."

She looked off for a moment at Zin's question and shrugged.
"We haven't had anywhere in mind. Just... wandering," she answered with another shrug.

Damalis let her ears flatten a bit, a little more embarrassed that she had made a less-then-perfect first impression with the invisible bird. She chose to shrug it off, trying not to let it get to her. "Many appologies then." She blinked, flashing quick glances at the empty spot next to Kweu, Not really knowing what to think, so she remained silent, corssing her front paws in a more comfortable layed-back position.

(( Sorry for the late reply >< ))

Zin nodded. How weird it must have looked for some other creature to see this encounter of two wild dogs and a hyena pup admist the grassy plain. His thoughts were starting to wonder again: I wonder how hot it will get today... what will I have for lunch... obscure, minute thoughts that, because of the quietness, were being brought forth. He was thirsty, Zin suddenly realized, and glanced around for a possible stream to quench his thirst.

((Totally cool. ^^))

Kweu sat up and idly scratched one ear. She listened as Motu chittered on and nodded her head. Sometimes he just rambled about the weather or stuff like that, but at times he actually made a point. She had told them of her lack of destination and it was fitting that she would ask them of theirs.
"Good point," she muttered and looked to the other two.
"Where exactly were you headed? Or are you just wandering like us?"
PostPosted: Thu Aug 17, 2006 6:38 pm

"Nowhere, really. Trying to find a place where I might really belong." The chocolate wild dog shrugged slightly. "I left home and my family when I was really young to travel, and I've been wandering ever since. It's nice seeing the world..." She paused for a moment, watching how the small hyena pup's eyes began to wander, following his gaze out into the distance. Poor guy, probably bored, she guessed. "Though the world seems to be getting more and more similar every new place I go." She joked.

Turning her head back of the pup, she gave him a wide, friendly grin. "What about you?"

"I'm a traveller too," the little hyena pipped up, rather proudly too. Journeying the land was a hard life, but the pup took it on gladly; why not? he had not known any other life. "No destination really... just wandering around... and go and come... and leave when I'm bored." He returned Dama's grin with a smile of his own. And that was the truth, Zin would often wander to a place, learn a few things by copycatting, and move on to the next place. That was usually how it happened, though sometimes he got kicked out too. How humiliating, the pup thought as his mind wandered to those memories. But looks like no one will know about them, fore the pup quickly stuffed them into the back of his mind determined not to think about it again.
