Also, the battle system in Baten Kaitos is pretty unique, using magnus cards. Perhaps other games have a similiar system with using cards, but Baten Kaitos is the first game I've played that has it. It's really fun. heart

gotta agree there! Most rpg's are real-time and/or have menu's. These have cards and it somewhat depends on how lucky you are too!
The battle system for Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories was also kinda unique

Also, DDR is pretty unique since you don't use thumbs for it. 3nodding

Much as I love DDR, it's nowhere near unique. confused There are a ton of different kinds of games that involve dancing on arrows - EZ2Dancer, Pump It Up, Techno Motion, Let's Dance, Dance Station... that's just names off the top of my head and restricting the list purely to games that are controlled in the same way as DDR. There are also plenty of variations on the theme (admittedly, EZ2Dancer has hand sensors as well as pads to step on, so it's really a variation, but it was the first thing that popped into my head) of rhythm games that don't involve using your thumbs.

Among rhythm games, I'd have to say the most unique is Para Para Paradise, because it's very easy to pass just by waving your hands in an uncoordinated way over the sensors when necessary... but to excel and play the game the way it was intended, you need to be familiar with the proper ParaPara dance routines (or the general style, if you can make up your own), which are actually way more complicated than the pattern of sensor markers would suggest. 3nodding

At the moment, the only other thing that springs to mind at the moment is a game called Porrasturvat (Stair Dismount), where the entire purpose is to score as many points as possible by hurling a guy down the stairs in order to injure him as much as possible. xd

Oh, and Warioware! Mini-games have been around for ages, but microgames are a pretty unique concept.

I know a unique game. Does anyone remember Mario Paint on SNES? It came with a little SNES mouse and mousepad too. smile Also, DDR is pretty unique since you don't use thumbs for it. 3nodding

I miss that game so much. I loved it when I was a kid. sad

I've wanted to play PPP for awhile. There aren't any machines in MN. At least from what I've heard. The one where you throw someone down the stairs looks hilarious. I would like to see someone play that one. xd

Shadow Colossus... oh my goodness. First playing that game, I was like, "That's ALL there is to do? Defeat 15 bosses?" but then I explored the land... which is amazingly vast and beautiful... as is the music... and the Colossus fights were quite interesting. *climbstab* xd

I remember seeing the first one for the first time... I was like... "O_________O Oh... crap... I'm... sa-crewed..."

Harvest Moon also pwns. That series just never seems to get boring. ._.

I have this old PS1 game called Thousand Arms, it was half RPG half Dating Sim, plus it had an awsome opening song.

I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned this, but I have always thought of the game Parappa The Rapper to be somewhat odd and unique o.o Another game that I think the battle sysem was a little different is Orphen: Scion of Sorcery. Katamari Damacy is definitely unique :3 Another game I found unique is Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles because of the GBA-Multiplayer stuff. It's fun :3 And if anyone ha ever played The Misadventure of Tron Bonne OMG THAT GAME IS UNIQUE AND FUNNY AND FUN >_> Little lego guys are your army and it is so much fun! You get to go on weird quests and you level up the lego guys by throwing bombs and cooking >_>

There's unfortunately not a PPP machine in my town (there aren't even any decent arcades here anymore, just one little one attached to a cinema sad ), so I have to travel a couple of hours away to Sydney to play. It sucks when you can only play on rare occasions, I'm really no good at the game at all. xd I'd love to import the PS2 version as it'd be much cheaper, but I need to mod my console first.

You can download Porrasturvat, it's freeware. 3nodding People have even apparently made a whole bunch of mods for it, so you can throw the guy down a spiral staircase and stuff like that. whee

Ooh, and I agree with LunaW0lf on Parappa (though I've only got the sequel) - the way you can freestyle is really interesting. I still haven't figured out how they score freestyling though, as sometimes something which sounds good to me is scored poorly, and sometimes I get a great score for something that sounds crap. confused I really love the music though, there are some crazy songs in there - gotta love it when the ghost of the burger shop owner floats down from a poster to rap about the best way to make a burger. xd

Anyone who likes Parappa should enjoy this video - some guy wrote a thesis about marketing games through live performances, and re-enacted a stage from Parappa as an example. Even though I haven't played the first game, I still think it's awesome. whee

I have Thousand Arms. I love the opening song too. Its so fun to go on dates and have Meis get smacked. xd I've always wanted to try Tron Bonne but its a very hard game to find. sad Orphen looks like fun. I saw is a while ago but didn't have the money to pick it up.

Japayuki
i always considered Earthworm Jim 'unique' xD

lol, I will always have images of dropping a refrigerator in order to launch a cow upwards....but it's been so long since I played that, that I hope that is the right game I'm thinking of!

I like this game Felony 11-79 that we have, and it doesnt seem like many people have heard of it or have it. It's kinda of lightweight, but fun nonetheless. A nice change from the typical car racing game. Nothing like using cars, limos, and trucks to intentionally cause as much structural damage as possible!

Skies of Arcadia is Unique to me, it was the first game I played on the DC. And I still have it to this day.

I think the Pikmin games are pretty unique. I know that when I started playing the first Pikmin I was amazed at how hard this seemingly "cute" game was.
