I don't discuss that sort of thing without preamble anymore, any 'zomg' reactions are triggered by my wardrobe and/or jewelry and are normally rather contained (incredulous sidelong looks, suddenly terse behavior, etc.). However when I was a child I would strike up conversations about ghosts and werewolves and such fairly often. Ghost stories were recieved well but as soon as someone mentioned them not being real I'd start arguing and finding out that I believed in that sort of thing got some 'ZOMG!' reactions very quickly, as too few of my peers agreed.
The worst reactions always came from adults though. One mother even told her daughter she wasn't allowed to speak to me anymore because I had told her ghost stories which I'd said were true. The adults were the ones who thought I was, "ZOMG, two weerd too plai wit MYE KIDD!"
Then I moved and started middle school and having an interest in the occult and supernatural combined with wearing what they felt was too much black clothing earned me a reputation as someone who stalked the streets at night, slept with satan, murdered goats and all sorts of other things which as a vegetarian supporter of animal rights, I actually found to be completely appalling suggestions of what to do with my time.
