Modern Geisha .Also I fyou havent read Memorires of a Geisha you must read it fills in the blanks from the Movie. The Memoirs of a Geisha movie was rather poorly made. If you hadn't read the book, it wouldn't have made any sense. I recommend: Interview with a Vampire~Anne Rice Queen of the Damned~Anne Rice The Search for the Green River Killer~Ann Rule (this is for if you're a heavy reader and into crime) I Never Asked You to Understand Me~? Anything by Stephen King The Boy from the Basement~? I'm currently reading the original Dracula book. It's interesting.

if anyone's already suggested these, i also reccomend them
Catch 22 by Joseph Heller, it's a great book, and quite funny. actually he worte a sequel, Closing Time, and he's got some other books too.
Crystal Rain by Tobias S. Buckell, insteresting fantasy book, with a bit of sci-fi added in
hopefully you've all heard of Eragon, and the second book in the series Eldest. if you haven't read them yet, you should, they're great.
and just in case anyone hasn't read Lord of the Rings (isn't it illegal not to?) you will, there is no maybe, OBEY
another great author would be Kurt Vonnegut, he's got a bunch of books out, they're all good

Oh goodness, a thread about books. I think I"m going to have a heart attack. I love this thread already. I won't post all my favorites now, as that would be one very long post, but we'll start with 5 or 10.
The Scarlet Letter - Nathaniel Hawthorne The Da Vinci Code - Dan Brown Shattered Mirror, In the Forests of the Night, Hawksong, Demon In My View, Snakecharm, Falcondance, Wolfcry, and Midnight Predatior - Amelia Atwater-Rhodes (What can I say? I love her work.) Pretty much anything by Anne Rice (Interview With A Vampire, Queen of the Damned, and The Vampire Lestat being absolute favorites).
Will post more books later.

wow you guys have great book taste, lol. I've read almost everything listed and its all good stuff. I didnt know anyone else knew who Atwater-Rhodes was, i love her work, i'm jelouse that she has so many books published and she's only like a year older then me, lol. Pierce's Tortall is good, and Ms. Pierce is really nice in person, i met her at a book signing. The Witching Hour, Anne Rice is good too, though its really long 1200+ pages, and Anne McCaffrey's Talent series is also good.
Other good authors that havent been listed:
Patricia A. Mckillip (anything by her) Sharon Shinn (summers at castle aubern) Frances Hodgson Burnett Frank Herbert (Dune series) and the author of deerskin whos name i cant recall another good book is called WarPrize, but its not for any one under 17...one of those trashy romance novels, lol.
read The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath, and The Handmaid's Tail, Margaret Atwood for school, they were both ok
also am i the only one who likes shakespeare?

Erfderul and just in case anyone hasn't read Lord of the Rings (isn't it illegal not to?) you will, there is no maybe, OBEYanother great author would be Kurt Vonnegut, he's got a bunch of books out, they're all good uggg i hate both Vonnegut and Tolkien's writting. no i havent read Slaughterhouse 5, which i hear is his best work, but Cat's Cradle was far from enjoyable. I made it though the Hobbit and 1/2 of the fellowship before I couldnt take anymore. I'm glad you enjoyed them though.
