I had a lighter on a very low setting go up to a higher level than normal) and tilt. I'm not sure about it yet, but I'm practicing.

I usually pick up on negativity, nerves, and occasionally happiness. Strong emotons are easier to pick up but sometimes I pick up subtle hints. It actually ties into energies and auras... you can tell a lot about a person and their current mood from not only mannerisms but from their aura.
