"Did you not hear me, Chiboa?" Chachili's eyes burned into his, "I'm a fighter. If those hyenas touch me, I'll have their intestines wrapped around my hooves in five minutes flat!"
She was acting rather bold for a prey animal of her size. She was actually quite small in stature, and wasn't the type that would readily risk her life over someone that had sunk their fangs into her leg.
Still...
Chachili could only imagine how hard a life Kelello could be leading. The Klipspringer knew that she couldn't 'rescue' the dog, nor could she forcefully lead her away from the Graveyard. However, she could do her best to try and persuade the girl from leaving someday.
Could Chachili give someone strength? The deer did not know. She had little ability to make friendly conversation... but she did have confidence.
She had, finally, escaped from the craggy mountains of her own herd years ago, admist the chaos of an attacking lion. Maybe she could persuade the wild dog to do the same.
"So, the question I really want answered, Chiboa," Chachili grunted, "Is whether you don't really care about that dog, or whether you're just too cowardly to come on the trip. Maybe it's both. Want to prove me wrong? Then follow me..."
Turning, she started to run. She ran fast, in jerky bounds, towards the Graveyard.
In truth, the Klipspringer hoped Chiboa had decided to follow her. She didn't know if she could last long, surrounded by hyenas, without him.
