It was. . . Dark.
Now, the Jivvin dubbed 'Sameil' did not mind the darkness. It was nice, cool, and let her sleep whenever she wanted. So Sameil was perfectly happy in her dark space, except when she kept bashing into things in the outside place on her exploring missions. Even then, she quickly learned where everything was by feel and memory, so she wouldn't smash into them again. Everything was jake.
Until, of course, her 'home' became too small.
She had noticed it slowly, ever since her care taker had gotten her. Her ears got flattened against the walls, her shoulders scrunched, her tail absolutely squashed. She wasn't even in a very comfortable position. She wanted - needed - to get out of this place. It was too painful to stay. And so, with as much movement Sameil could muster, started to scratch at her binding with her claws. Faster and faster she went, driven by the urge to get free. She didn't even realise that she was shaking her prison viciously, and all of the excited voices outside. Or at least, until she finally burst out of the egg, breathing heavily with relief and blinking rapidly from the light.
"Oh my gosh! She's so cute!" A girl with long red hair was looking at her with the goofiest grin on and suddenly attached herself to Sameil, while a green . . . thing with a skull on it's face looked at her curiously.
"Don't suffocate her, H.E. She's not going to disappear, you know." H. . . E.? Did that mean something? It could, she supposed, as the girl lessened her grip and mock-glared at the green thing. She had certainly heard the girl's voice before. Maybe she was her care-taker?
"I know that, Diro, and I'm not suffocating her! She's just too cute!" The girl squealed happily and started the cuddling again, although she was a lot more gentle with it. Sameil also guessed that the green 'Diro' thing was one of the people that had been around her in her egg. Wah, this was getting too confusing for her. She yawned, suddenly exhausted from her struggle to get free, and to bring the attention back to her. The two arguing creatures turned to look at her, and the girl grinned again.
"Well, someone sounds tired. Why don't we take you to bed?" The girl gathered up Sameil (not without any 'oomph's, of course) and carried her to a room with the green thing at her heels, gently putting her on a big, poofy nest-thing that made her feel even more drowsy and warm.
"If you need anything, just shout. Diro's next door, and Mai Wen's on the other, so they'll come fetch me. Hope you have a nice sleep, Sameil." As the Jivvin snuggled into the random blankets and pillows, the girl flicked the lights off and started to close the door. "Love ya."
:Nyaah.: The girl seemed to jerk from her sleepy reply (maybe she wasn't used to mind speaking?) but recovered quickly and grinned again, before closing the door all the way. And as soon as the dark surrounded her again, Sameil fell into her dreams.

Halfling Elf Well, it's been a very interesting two months. biggrin Sameil has fitted into the household wonderfully, made some friends, and time's been just zipping by! Why, she's already at second stage! I'm so proud of her. ;3 The Ferret still doesn't have a name. . . Or at least, I think. It's quite intelligent, and it seems to like switching things behind my back. I wouldn't be surprised if Sameil knows things about him and doesn't tell me. She doesn't like sharing information much, I find.
Also, Sameil doesn't seem to be that open anymore, either. She seems to stand my hugging and cuddling at home, but not in public. It's slightly confusing, but I suppose I'll get used to it. I'll ask her why sometime soon. *nodnod*
Mwah, I'm having such a brain fart, even though I have so much to write about. Well, Sameil's a lot better at writing then I thought she was. I'll try to get her to write the next journal entry. 3nodding See ya soon!

Mood:  Sameil So. . . This is my journal.
Hello.
Halfling Elf wishes me to write in here every so often, so I shall. This place is good for keeping my thoughts in order, and so I may remember things I forget. I have need for something like this journal for what I am starting. It shall be quite useful indeed.
Yesterday I spent a long period of time at the House's library on the third floor, thanks to the guidance of Saoni. It was strange meeting that human -- I thought her to be Moofuls, the person Halfling Elf tells me about and whom I have seen around the Center, but I was wrong in my observation. I will have to inform Halfling Elf of this.
The library seemed to be half in order, while the other part was in a terrible mess. It took me a while to find some books on the topic I need, but find them I did. I have learned much from them, but will need more information. I will go back soon and see if I can find more books.
Perhaps I could sort some of the books as well. I shall probably need the books quickly again, and if they are organised then no one can see what I am planning. If it utterly fails, although I highly doubt it, I do not want anyone to know.
Also, Saoni wished me to never stray off the pathway through the forest to get the the House. I am curious about that. I will have to see if I can figure out why she did not want me to do so. . .
Halfling Elf seems to have locked up the majority of her favorite cookies. Mino and I will have to solve that problem.

Mood:  Sameil It has been a while since I have written anything here. I suppose I should be recording the precise accomplishments I am making, but am too wary to write them down in this book.
The library was most informative. I have gathered all of my research from them, and all of my calculations are finished. In fact, my project itself is near to completion. Mino has been useful, assisting me by retreiving any objects I was in need of to complete the project. It has been difficult, putting together something of this size together with a minimum of sound and without giving the rest any suspicions. At one point, when the temperature was above freezing, I had to move it outside. That was probably the most difficult thing to do for keeping it hidden; the ninaus were out that day in the pastures, and I had to avoid them with diligence. Mino, once again, proved his worth -- he distracted them by running in between their legs and made them gallop the opposite direction, giving me the chance to carry it out into the surrounding forest.
I decided to keep the project out there from then on. I have had to keep it wrapped to protect it from the dropping temperatures, and make sure it was never covered in snow. Luckily, it has yet to stay. I also find this point interesting; while it is getting colder and colder here at the house, there is no snow, but it coats the ground at the Center. I have also heard Tadrith exclaim about how he could have snowball fights and the fact he could bury himself at his 'Talaye Meadow'; Verde was sulking about it. Since both locations are not distant enough to be in a different climate from the house, it is a curious matter to occur. I must research this as well, as soon as the project is finished.
Ah, so much experimentation to do, and so little time. I do not believe I shall be bored for some time to come.
To place this back on point, the project in itself should be finished in a few weeks. I will need to find an appropriate place to test it.

Short Story~ Sameil opened the door to the living room.
There, with a look of utter concentration and pain, was Halfling Elf. Legs were slowly spreading out to each side; she seemed to be trying to get them so they'd be parallel to the ground, despite the small grunts of pain coming out from behind her gritted teeth. Verde, the Tala pup, was watching on with something akin to fascination; he also winced in sympathy when the girl jerked and slipped a few inches closer to the floor. The Marubells also seemed to be finding this show amusing; they were sprinkled around the bat and on the couch he lay on while piping out encouraging cheers.
Halfling Elf seemed to finally give up and flop onto her back, moaning slightly while rubbing her inner thighs. She looked up sheepishly at her audience on the couch, and then finally seemed to notice the Jivvin staring at her through the doorframe.
"Oh! Hi, Sameil!" She grinned, raising a hand to wave cheerily. "I was just trying to do the splits. Gotta be limber and all that, don't cha know?"
Sameil didn't even dignify that with a response; she just turned around and trotted back to her room. She had always known that humans were the most insane creatures on the planet.
(Random short story. I've been trying to do the splits for a week now, and it's not coming on very well. xDDD This is what happens when you've had one candy cane too many~ There will probably be more. I like writing out Sameil. xD)

Right fore leg: Broken paw, broken wrist, broken forearm, broken upper arm, dislocated shoulder, severely torn shoulder muscles.
Left fore leg: Broken paw, broken wrists, fractured forearm, minimally fractured upper arm, severely pulled shoulder muscles.
Four broken ribs Concussion Cuts and scratches varying in severity all over body Bruised bones in varying places in back legs Internal bleeding Blood loss
Patient fell onto her left side after impact with ground. Left shoulder had been jarred into proper position because of this. Straps covering the patient�s chest during the accident kept broken ribs in position until proper treatment was applied. Random shrapnel was imbedded in the skin; all were safely taken out. All deep wounds were stitched. Patient has over 80 stitches and should do all she can to not put any stress onto them. Casts were placed on both fore arms, and measures were taken for the internal bleeding and concussion. A blood transfusion was given. Patient should do absolutely no activities (including walking) until normal doctor advocates it.

((Continued from thread. Kinda. xD; ))
Puu romped around in the grass happily, not really caring what direction he was going in. Meanie-Greenie-and-Generator was sick, sick, sick, and couldn't actually threaten him whatsoever! She also couldn't move much, since the white things and Elf-Elf wouldn't let her walk. That was a good thing, since Puu could then go into her nifty stuff and explore. Of course, Meanie-Greenie's Scary Ferrie would pop out immediately and try to bite off his precious lights, but Puu would usually be able to run faster than it.
Puu was supposed to be going to the House to get something (he couldn't remember what) that Meanie-Greenie forgot. He supposed that he might get it eventually, when he felt like it, but right now all he cared about was that pretty little butterfly fluttering over there --
"We get Sameil book now!"
Oh. Yeah. It figured that Kiiri would remember what exactly they were coming to get for the Meanie-Greenie. It kinda made sense, too; Kiiri was the one that actually got asked to get it. Puu just came along for two main reasons: one, to go see the Center, the 'House', and romp; two, to stall Kiiri as much as he could and in consequence annoy M.G. Since Kiiri felt responsible for him (Puu wasn't sure why, despite the good it was doing for him; he could TOTALLY take care of himself!) she wouldn't leave him behind. Hence the three hour romp around the forest near the path.
"But Rii-Rii~! Fun!" Puu whined, squirming under a raised tree root. "Join Puu in fun! Come, Rii-Rii, come!" With that he grabbed onto the other Sprite's scarf and pulled her off the path. They tumbled a bit from the strength of the pull, but Puu was laughing with glee as they untangled themselves.
"See? Fun, Rii-Rii!" He grinned widely before waltzing back to the path (he did not want to get lost in darky forest, no no no) ignoring the angry mutterings from the snow sprite that followed him. His mood plummetted, however, when he discovered that the House was directly in front of them now, and that Kiiri was heading determindly towards it.

Laying in the grass beside the Center, Rune laid his head on his paws and stared at the young'un he was watching over. Aisha's brat, as she liked to refer him as.
He still hadn't gotten his voice back - either that, or he didn't really want to try - but he was content on watching Mange toy with his doll, prodding the thing with his nose and making the ball joints move erradically, almost as if it was dancing.
Puu romped out of the Center, peanut butter on his snout from when he stuck it in a jar he found. It was so much fun around here! Puu had started coming here nearly every day with Kiiri (who was currently still inside having a nap in the fridge), since Meanie Greenie had started to get better and was going to be able to actually move much farther soon. And since she'd be coming here, Puu'd have to get out of the way. He didn't want to be found plugged into other generators, after all.
Licking his maw pleasurably, Puu looked around. He actually hadn't met any other Jivvins than Greenie and Kiiri, and was curious to see more. After all, not all of them had to be as mean~ And to just his luck, there were two of them near by! Hopping over to the funny one with a hat, puu chirruped a greeting.
"Hello hello! I Puu! What your name, Hat-Jivvin?" He looked over to the other smaller Jivvin who was playing with a weird toy. "And what tiny-Jivvin name? Huh? Huh?"
"Your worst nightmare," Muttered the young one, staring at the newcomer with a stoic face. "He can't speak, don't bother talking to him." Mange shifted his eyes back to his toy, now no longer interested in the newcomer. To him, he posed absolutely no threat.
"Nightmare? Bad-sleep?" Puu asked, blinking as he looked between Hat-Jivvin and Tiny-Jivvin. "Why bad-sleep? And why Hat-Jivvin no talk?" He trotted over to Tiny-Jivvin, looking at the weird doll curiously. "Did voice run away?"
"I did not give you permission to speak to him," Mange murmured, drawing up and shoving his face in the other's personal space, his fur rising.
Rune merely raised an eyebrow, and tilted his hear back.
"Why he need per-miss-ion?" Puu asked before yelping and jumping back when Tiny-Jivvin shoved his face at his. That wasn't nice! "That not nice!" Puu whined, scampering back at the still-larger-than-him Jivvin. "You nearly mean as Meanie Greenie!" Turning about tail, Puu ran behind Hat-Jivvin, sticking his tongue out at Meanie-Tiny-Jivvin.
"I did not give you permission..." Mange snarled, leaping over Rune to attempt to knock the other on the ground, but was quickly scooped up by the Red Mage Jivvin, and set aside so as to not cause further harm. Dissuaded a bit but not put off, Mange hissed from a distance.
"Don't touch him."
Puu yelped again, and breathed a sigh of relief as Hat-Jivvin caught Meanie-Tiny-Jivvin before he could successfully tackle the Sprite.
"Why?" Puu asked, backing up so he could get a head start in running if needed. After all, he was getting pretty spooked now. "You his owner?" That seemed completely insane to Puu -- only humans like Elf-Elf could do that, and even then not control Jivvins that badly. "Why should Meanie-Tiny-Jivvin decide who touch Hat-Jivvin?"
"Because I can, and will. The result does not concern you... unless you wish to press it." Mange gave another snarl, leaping at the other to scare him further. It was obvious he was having fun with it.
Puu jumped back again, nearly tripping on his string of bulbs in his haste to get away. This was terrifying! At this rate, Meanie-Tiny-Jivvin was going to squash him! And Puu certainly wasn't going to push the matter -- well, not right then. Maybe if he gained some more courage later. But right now? Puu decided to make a very hasty exit; and not seeing where he was going, ran straight into the forest--
--and came flying back out a few feet opposite. Shoot!
"This not fair to Puu!" He screeched, looking hastily side to side to find another escape route that did not turn him back to Meanie-Tiny-Jivvin.

Sameil was Not a Happy Camper.
While it was a relief to finally be able to get out of the house and return to the Center where there was no stifling Halfling Elfs, the green Olplyn had been forced to take the two Jivvin Sprites with her to "escort" her around. The fact that she had to deal with Puu the entire time of her visit was extremely irritating; Kiiri she could stand, who stayed out of her way and only pipped out warnings. Puu would bolster and annoy her, jumping on books that were being read and 'accidentally' ripping out the pages or trying to squash Mino.
So Sameil had retreated to the porch slowly, making sure that she wasn't putting any strain on her injuries, in the hope that something would distract the bothersome Sprite and leave her and her ferret in peace.
"Puu want something to doooooooooo!" Puu whined, hopping up and down in annoying circles around Sameil while Kiiri followed meekly after.
"Then go and find something," Sameil spat, glaring at the Sprite before laying down and praying that he would follow the advice.
There were two places that he could go... Three, if he counted the forest but, for the moment he wasn't. That being the case, there were three places that he could go with his egg to 'hide'. The Center was the place when he was hiding from home and, right now, he was.
He set his basket down to gently nudge the door open before entering. It was quiet in here... Or, at least, maybe he was doing a fine job of convincing himself that it was. His ears had yet to catch the sound of Jivvin and sprite.
Amazing what the powers of selective hearing could do.
Hatter had kicked them, litterally, out of the house. The twins needed a bath and Lyra refused to not get in with out Lyra so as long as the pup was in the house Hatter would never get her in. So the demon had decided that the two jivvin had to leave.
Which ment Kuro was once again babysitting the ultimate annoyance. Luckly she had made her way ahead of him since she remembered the way to the Center and he was alone for the moment.
The pup in question raced around the forest and once she was near the center bounded happily though the door. "Hey! Its stupid !!" She chirped happily before proceding to tackle one of Aara's back legs.
Puu immediantly perked his ears up at the voices inside the Center. "People!" He chirped loudly, and quickly removed himself from the back porch to run inside the building. "Hello, hello! My name Puu! What your names?!" He called to the Jivvins with cheer.
Thank the heavens, Sameil thought before turning her head to the remaining Sprite. "Kiiri. I wish to read one of my books. Retrieve one from my pack for me."
That sent the last of the minor annoyances away with a squeak, and Sameil closed the door behind her with her tail with a sigh. Now she could finally get her peace and quiet.
Peace and quiet? Did such a thing exist? He was starting to believe that it didn't... No matter where he went there was someone or, in the case of the golden nusiance that was now attatched to his leg, something.
He kicked his leg, attempting to shake her off while setting the egg's basket down so that he could properly scold her. "Do you mi--" He blinked, looking up at the sprite that was now speaking a mile a minute in their directions. "... What are you?"
"Me Puu! You not hear before? Nice to meet you, nice to meet you! What your names?" Puu hummed, ignoring Kiiri as she slunk to a large pack and dissapeared inside it, bouncing up and down frantically. Until, of course, he noticed the egg.
"Ooooh, what this? What this? Why in basket?" To be honest, this was the first time Puu had seen an egg as large as this; he was used to the kind that Elf-Elf ate for breakfast, and he sniffed it to see if it smelt good. "You going to put ketchup on and eat later?"
He walked slower and nosed the door of the Center open so he could walk though it. Looking around he heard Jhadia screach and, probably, pounce on someone. "Damn it...."
She refused to let go. It wouldnt be fun if she let go. "Nope, dont mind at all." She giggled and held on tighter as he shook his leg.
When the other thing spoke she perked up and shimmied up Aara's leg so she could see over his hip.
he was cornered. Outnumbered. Ambushed! Games were not supposed to work this way. They were... Cheating!
"Get off of me, Jha-- NO! No ketchup! No eating! Stay away from my egg!" His ears flattened and he attempted to take on a defensive pose... Tried, because it was awfully hard to do so with Jhadia on his leg.
Puu looked at him strangely, head tilted to the side. "Why you not eat egg? That what egg for!" He nosed it again. "Purple egg probably still good!" He chirruped before noticing the other Jivvin on Strange-Blue-Jivvin's leg. "Hello hello hello! Me Puu! What your name? You know Strange-Blue-Jivvin name?"
Kuro sighed as he saw what was going on. "damn it again" Growling he headed over to the group. "Jhadia...will you please stop touching everyone"
"OOohhh!" She crawled over Aara's back and lauched herself at the sprite, intent on pinning it to the ground. "What are you? I'm Jhadia, Queen and prettiest ever. The blue one is Aara, or stupid."
"You are not allowed to eat my egg. It is not for eating. It is for..." What was it for? "This eg is for hatching!" The moment Jhadia launched off of him he plucked the basket up in his mouth, trotting off to hide somewhere. The great blue Easter-Jivvin.
"Hatching no fun! Eating bett-ER!" Puu squeaked in surprise, dodging Nutso-Jhadia's pounce by barely an inch and scurrying away beneath the red Jivvin he just noticed. "Puu not like pouncing!" He yelped.
Kiiri, however, had finally found the one book not ruined by Puu in the pack and crawled out with it clutched gently between her teeth. She started slinking back towards the back porch, quickly slipping under the blue Jivvin in the way to reach her objective.
He was about to tell Jhadia it wasnt nice to pounce on stranges, for the fifth time, when the sprite darted under his feet. This would have been almost fine under certian circusmtances but since he was trying to talk, it wasnt.
"Whoa get..." too late. Kuro stepped on the sprite and in doing so ended up falling over flat on his face. "********..." His curse was snaped off before he could finish the rest of it as he hit the floor.
Jhadia darted after Puu but skidded to a halt so she didnt get smooshed under the falling Kuro. "Walk much?" She poked at his nose.
He was expecting to get away easily... He wasn't expecting something to appear beneath his paws. Anyone who had known the 'old Aara' would know that he certainly wasn't the most coordinated Jivvin in the world, even if he'd gotten better.
He tripped over the sprite, tumbling and dropping his basket in the process. His eyes widened with the fear that the sound of shattering would soon touch his ears... It didn't, even after the basket tipped over, sending the egg rolling across the floor.
Puu made the most undignified squawk he was pretty sure he had ever made before, scrambling up and far away.
"Ow ow ow ow ow! Mean-stepper-Jivvin!" He screeched, darting away and hopping into Sameil's pack for protection. Why was everyone trying to squash him?!
Kiiri was in much of the same position as the Blue Jivvin that tripped over her; the book had flown out of her mouth and skidded over the floor, and she let her breath out when it finally stopped with a small thud against a wall. Turning to see how Blue Jivvin had fared from her mistake, Kiiri took in another breath at seeing what had happened.
"Sorry! Sorry!" She cried softly, hurrying after the egg and pushing it slowly back to the Blue Jivvin.
Draging himself up off the floor he growled at the sprite. "Dont ******** walk under people." He was not happy. His face hurt and his leg hurt from stepping on the sprite.
"Should have know you'd get stepped on!"
Jhadia's attention stayed on the sprite for all of a few seconds. The moment Aara's egg went sliding across the floor she was after it. After all, she had wanted to mess with it the other day.
"EGGI!" She skidded across the floor and grabed the egg as she went. IT was hers now, not Aara's, she could play with it now.
His eyes went wide as, at first, the egg was under the care of a sprite that seemed far more 'together' than the first one... Only to be taken over by Jhadia? He whimpered aloud unintentionally before scrambling after her. "Jhadia, if you so much as put a scratch on that shell..." He really wasn't sure if that was an idle threat... With how much hed come to dislike Jhadia as of late? It very well might not have been an empty threat at all.
"Should have watch where you stepping, Mean-Stepper-Jivvin!" Puu shouted back, his ouches ouching bad. Mean-Stepper-Jivvin shouldn't have moved when he saw Puu coming towards him -- and aren't bigger things supposed to look out for tinier ones?
Kiiri squeaked as the egg was taken away from her, scrambling backwards before heading back to the book she had been carrying. She knew what Jivvins could do to poor tiny sprites, and she wasn't nearly as eager as Puu to get ouches. So after tilting Blue Jivvin's basket back upward properly, she picked up her book and started heading for the back door again.
"You shouldnt walk under people and we wouldnt have to." He snarled. Resisting the temptatin to snap his teeth at the sprite he stalked away.
Hearing Aara he sighed agian. Jhadia was going to get her a** kicked, did he really want to stop that?
"You wouldnt be able to tell." Once she had stopped sliding she stopped to roll the egg around an look at it. There were already marks on it, so if she scratched it he would never know
"Oh, I'd know..." He growled as he skidded to a stop just short of the small Jivvin. He had noticed that parental figures often knew when the slightest thing was 'off' with their charges.. Afterall, the dragon seemed to know everything. "Let go of the egg, Jhadia."
"Nyeeeeh!" Puu stuck his tongue out at Mean-Stepper-Jivvin, then turned his head and watched what was happening between Aara-stupid and Nutso-Jhadia. This looked to be interesting!
Kiiri, however, had finally made it back outside and to Sameil; she wordlessly handed the book over to her, and she nodded wordlessly before shutting the door again with her tail.
"Is Puu the one causing the ruckus inside?" Sameil inquired, tilting her head slightly to the sprite as Mino chittered and rolled into a ball on her back.
"Some. Puu stepped on by Red-Jivvin, and Blue-Jivvin loose egg to tiny-Jivvin," Kiiri spoke quietly, and Sameil rolled her eyes.
"Hmmph. As long as Puu doesn't break anything," And with that she flipped open her book with her nose and began to read, trusting the snow sprite would keep quiet.
Alright, he was done with this bull. Stalking over to Jhadia he stepped on her tail, on purpose this time. "Alright you, time to go. I want away from here before i disgrace muself more." He leaned down and grabed her by the scruff of her neck. Her being small wasnt always a bad thing.. Since she was small he could easily pick her up.
"But i dont wanna!!!" It was useless to strugle and she knew it. Kuro would just let her rip her own neck to shreds if she struggled against his grip.
"I dont care what you want." He growled around her neck. Picking her up he headed for the door.
"you suck!" As she was picked up she kept her grip on the egg. It was hers now, Aara be dammed.
He didn't mind that Jhadia was leaving... Not, he didn't mind that at all. What he minded was the fact that the ugly little Jivvin still had his egg! "I'm sorry that my friend stepped on you..." He mumbled quickly at the sprite before taking off after the crimson Jivvin. He had to get his egg back.
Puu blinked at the apology and then grinned, waving with his tail and paws, wishing Nice-Aara lots of luck with getting his egg back.

Normal = Sameil, Puu, Halfling Elf Indigo = Rini, Oscar Red = Kimi Green = Verde Brown = Prey xD Orange = Egg
Rini was holding the still oscar in her arms. Her mother, Lulu had just dropped the two of them off at the center to see what it was all about. It had been many months since Rini watched this litte ball of fluff hatch from an egg. Mother had said that it was to protect and guid her, Rini just though it was really soft.
"go there" said Oscar as he pointed forward to the old looking building. Oscar never liked to be held like he was for long, being held under his arms with his legs hanging. But it couldnt be helped, Rini wasnt that tall yet. Smart, but still not that strong eather, so anyway that she could hold him was the way that he was going to be held.
"all right, lets go see" Rini walked forward and stoped at the door. she felt like she should knock or something. "hello?" she knocked on the door, then opened it "is anyone here?" she opened it enough so that they where now standing in the room.
Sameil had been lugged back to the Center with Puu and Kiiri again, but this time Halfling Elf came as well. Her excuse to the Sprites had been that she hadn't been the the Center in much too long and wanted to visit; Sameil suspected that she just came so she could sleep on the couch without someone coming to ask her something. Well, if that was the case, H.E. certainly wouldn't be getting any shut-eye with Puu around.
Who, of course, was immediantly at the door as soon as someone came through it. Sameil was just happy that the damned Sprite was leaving her alone to her space on the other couch.
"Hello hello helloooooo! I am Puu! Who you? Who you?" The Sprite chittered at the young girl and Jivvin. "I here! Puu here! Nice to meeeeeet yoooou~!"
"Puu, calm down a bit. You're going to scare them~ But hi! I'm Halfling Elf. Nice to meet you," greeted the red-head from the couch. "The Jivvin on the other couch is Sameil, and the white Sprite is Kiiri." She pointed to the meek Snow Sprite sitting next to her, grinning. "What's your names?"
Rini smiled her bunny ears looked very happy and her little bunny tail twitched. "hello! My Name is Rini Tiffany, its nice to meet you" Rini hopped Oscar up into her arms higher, makeing her pink hair flop a little into her face, she spat it out "and this is Oscar" she seemed to be having a hard time keeping the little one in her arms. she quickly crosed the room and placed Oscar onto the couch "thats beter" she smiled as she looked around to everyone "Its nice to meet you all"
Oscar sat up and nodded "hello" he was very happy that he was out of Rinis arms. He wished that he couold speak more though. He looked about him, these were cretures like him. He was very interested in then and looked them up and down.
The Jumi carried the golden egg boldly, marching through the front door with her nose up.
"Verde, you should really watch where you step, don't want to trip."
Kimiko had watched the girl's grand stride for a few days now, and it seemed that the little one was always in danger of tripping. And since she now carried around the egg everywhere she went, tripping was indeed a very, very bad action to perform.
She wasn't quite familiar with the workings of the center, having been there only once, and for a short time as well. It was a marvel that she and the small girl had even made it to the place safely, considering how remote the location was.
Following the curly-haired child through the door, the teen gave a small sigh and looked up. Ooh, there were people here! One of them she knew, Halfling Elf, but who was the other?
Verde settled herself and the egg in a comfortable spot on the floor, giving a small wave to the others in the room. She had an egg to tend to, by gosh -- she didn't have time for idle chit-chat, like her guardian.
"Hullo," Halfling Elf replied back to the First, grin slightly larger than before. Kiiri blinked and nodded her head towards both; Puu chattered at the two.
"Do Rini-Rini and Os-Car want to play? Huh? Huh? Puu want to play!" He squealed, too distracted to notice the other newcomers. Halfling Elf and Sameil did, however; H.E. grinned at her friend and waved, while Sameil just snorted and raised herself from the couch. She didn't want to deal with these annoyances. With a flick of her tail and a thought sent to her 'owner' (the girl would follow her if she didn't know where she was going, the smothering fool) Sameil headed out to the back porch, her ferret on her heels.
Rini smiled kindly at Puu "yes, we would love to play with you, right Oscar?" she smiled back at her friend. She knew that he wasnt as energertic as this one seemed to be, he wasmore like a calm child, one that any mother would love to have because they never cried at night. But he also did like to play.
Ocar smiled "yes" and hopped off the couch and rubed against Rini's legs, looking at the other "what want play?" he looked calm and together. He had lived with others that where hyper like this one, and was ok with playing with them. He wished he could talk more.
Verde watched the large green one disappear onto the back porch. It didn't look very interesting, but what was that following it? A ferret? How very intriguing.
"I'm heading out for some fresh air," the Jumi said, and lifted herself and the egg from the seat they had just gotten comfortable in. Following the path that Sameil had taken, the green-haired girl and her egg stepped onto the porch quietly.
"Nice ferret," she commented, glancing over to the Jivvin.
Kimiko greeted the redhead with a noogie, cackling maniacally.
"That's for the one you gave me at the party," she said, and grinned.
"YAY! Playplayplayplayplay!" Puu ran around the two, happy that someone would finally play with him! "Tag! Lets play tag!" He chirped, suddenly halting and bounced up and down. "And Os-Car IT!" Bopping the Jivvin on the nose, Puu shrieked with joy and dashed away as quickly as possible.
"Owowowowow-- I give uuuuuup!" Halfling Elf laughed, flailing a bit in her friend's face. "Revenge taken and accepted! Should we kiss and make up?" The red head raspberried her friend before lifting up Kiiri. "Because Kiiri really needs some love."
Kiiri looked understandably panicked.
Sameil looked out of the corner of her eye towards the little thing that had followed her. Was it too much to ask for some peace and quiet?
"Tell him that yourself; he's certainly smart enough to understand," the Olplyn answered before looking towards the forest. If she could avoid a conversation with a child, then she would do her best to do so. They were a general waste of time. "Of course!" Kimi replied matter-of-factly, and planted a kiss on Kiiri's forehead.
"Ah, so you have a special ferret? I understand that normal ferrets aren't capable of conprehending human speech," Verde replied, waving her little fingers at the animal.
"In a land far, far away, there was a nameless monster.." the Jumi said, enunciating each word to the egg cradled in her arms.
The sprite was hiding under the couch. The new people that had come were so.. scary! And loud, from what he had heard! Giving a small squeak, the reindeer sprite poked its head out from under the safe spot for just a moment, before ducking back under.
The people were scary.
Oscar looked extreamly shocked "wha?" he then looked at Rini, but she was already running away "wait!" Oscar acualy had forgotten how to play, so her ran after Rini "how play?" he asked in a paniced voice.
Rini cept running "you have to tag someone. Then they are it and they chase everyone else" she giggled as she ran faster. "but you have to go count first" she yelled running and finding a hiding spot.
Oscar stopped aquwardly and tilted his head "ok" and then began "1... 2.. 3.. 4... 5... 6... 7... 8... 9.... 10" he then went running around trying to find one of them.
Pah! No one would catch the mighty Puu! The small Tree Sprite shrieked again with happiness, dashing from the front room and into the kitchen. No one'd look for him here! And if they did, he had several escapes he could use. Oh, he was totally going to win!
Kiiri looked absolutely relieved that she only had to suffer a kiss to the forehead, and shyly nuzzled Kimi's face back. Halfling Elf grinned behind her.
"Awww~ You two should get married."
Kiiri froze again in shock.
Mino grinned a ferret grin at the green-haired girl and scurried over towards her, looking for a pet.
"I agree that it should be impossible for him to comprehend us, but I have discovered that many things on Gaia are scientific phemonenons." Sameil replied dryly, somewhat surprised that the seemingly young child would know that about ferrets. Of course this happened everywhere on Gaia, so why was she even slightly surprised? She shifted her weight to get more comfortable with her bandages and became silent again, half-listening to the story. It didn't sound like any story she knew.
"Who'd be the groom, and who'd be the bride?" Kimi grinned back, giving Kiiri a pat on the head.
Scary people scary people scary people--!
The sprite purred sadly and rolled onto his back, pawing at the fabric ceiling above him. He wanted out of this room, with the scary people! The scary LOUD people!
Verde smiled back and patted the ferret gently on the head, before continuing on with the story.
"The monster wanted a name so badly, so the monster left to go on a journey to find a name. But the world was so large, that he split into two to make his journey. One went to the west, and the other went towards the east."
The egg jiggled slightly. It had heard this story before; several times, in fact.
Rini was hidding in an old trunk. She was giggling, probibly not the best thing for her to be doing, so she went quite again. She wondered how long it would take for Oscar to find her. She really hoped that it didnt take very long.
Oscar started to look around, if he knew Rini then she wouldnt pick the smartist place to hide. He began to look everywere he could. Which wasnt many places. "you know cant lift much" he yelled out.
Rini herd him and crused her hiding place, she lifted the lid and was happy he wasnt right by here, she hid behind a curtan now.
"Hmmmm. . . Hard choice. Draw lots for it?" H.E. cackled, swinging Kiiri gently from side to side. The poor Jivvin Sprite seemed to be incapable of getting out of her shock.
Puu was still humming back and forth in the kitchen with the exception of having some marshmallows smushed into his mouth. Hey, he was hungry, and what else was a kitchen good for~?
"Your egg does not seem amused," Sameil commented during a break in the story; while it was somewhat interesting, she could simply research the story later if she needed to know the end of it. "What is your name, child?"
Rini wasnt having much fun anymore, she had a really short attention span.
Oscar was looking under anything that he could. It was then that he found Rini and rubbed his tail aginst her leg "found you" he said in a slight sing song voice.
Rini smiled and picked up her friend "i am so happy you found me, i dont really like this game anyway. Lets say that we go find our new friend and then get a snack?" she put Oscar down and they walked into the kitchen. then she remebered to tell Puu that they had stopped "Puu! We decided to stop playing and have a snack! you can stop hidding" she yelled out, hoping that would work.
"That's possible," Kimiko nodded, "but do you really think they make wedding dresses for..." She paused, poking the sprite in the stomach gently. "Snowman.. things? Or tuxes, for that matter?"
"It's heard this story a few times before," Verde replied, running a finger down the golden eggshell. "I'm researching what will happen if it continually hears the same story, and whether or not the story will have an impact on it when it hatches."
To the response of the Jivvin's question, the Jumi gave a simple answer: "Verde." She would answer with more if she was asked.
The sprite sniffled slightly, gazing out from the small spot he could see from. He didn't want to go out, there were scary people about! But the spot beheath the couch was... dark. And dark was the equivalence of scary.
Crawling out from his safe spot, the sprite quickly dashed into an opposing room, avoiding any and all obstacles. Contact with these people might be deadly, he had to take all precautions.
"Psh, this is Gaia. Someone'd probably do it, if only because it's such an insane idea!" Halfling Elf finally switched her hold on the sprite so she was cupped in her arms rather than dangling. Kiiri huddled down as far as she could go. "Since there's so many crazy people here anyway," H.E. added, before giggling and petting the poor snow Sprite. "Don't worry, Ri~ We're only joking! You don't have to marry Kimi if you don't want to."
"Interesting. Do you have a hypothesis?" Sameil's respect went up a few notches for this 'Verde'. It had been far too long since she had had an intelligent conversation with someone.
"But Puu not win yet! Puu want to win!" He whined, running out from under the kitchen table and nearly into the other two. "What we doing now? More play?"
"You're right, they probably would." Kimiko nodded in understanding, before bursting into laughter. She gave the sprite another poke in the stomach, then fell back into the cushions of the couch. It had been a while since she had gotten a good rest like this one.
"The subject, after being read to so many times, will begin to believe that it is living in the story's world. And when it hatches, it will behave like the main character in the story -- in this case, our nameless monster." The Jumi nodded, hair bobbing up and down to match her head movements.
"Would you like to hear the rest of the story?" she asked, looking to the green-and-red Jivvin.
Yes! He was free! Free from those.. loud.. nuisances! But this room was dark, too. The sprite padded around in a circle, trying to figure out what to do. What to do, what to do?!
Rini patted Puu on the head "we are hungery, we where hoping that you could show us some food around here" she didnt want to go rumaging into the cabnits and things one her own, she thought that this one would know where it was.
Oscar nodded "i want food"
"Fridge!" Puu shouted, grinning after the pat. "Lots of food in fridge, yes yes! Good cold food!" After all, it was a hot day; who wouldn't want to crunch ice cubes?
"Ahhhh." Halfling Elf flopped down next to her friend, sinking slightly into the cushions and releasing Kiiri so she could lay down next to her. "You know, maybe we should start complaining about how old we are. Think we've hit that stage yet?"
"Hmm," was all the Olplyn said, musing over it and her own theories about that particular experiment.
"It will alter your experiment if you do not, correct? Then I find no problem with it." She replied. She was curious what 'personality' this egg would be morphing to; she could see the creature after it hatched and discover if it had worked.
"You can," the teen snorted, "I'm only fifteen. I've got years to go before I hit my midlife crisis."
"Alright," Verde nodded, and went on with her tale. It was a particularly gory story, about how the nameless monster would enter the bodies of people and consume them from inside out.
"'I have a name. It's a wonderful name, too.' The monster who went to the west said, 'I don't need a name. I'm happy even without a name.' We just have to accept that we are monsters without a name.
The boy ate the monster who went to the west. He finally had a name, but all the people who could call him by that name had disappeared. And Johann was such a wonderful name, too."
She clapped her hands together to symbolize the closing of a storybook, and looked towards the Jivvin. "Interesting story, isn't it?"
The noise in the other room seemed to have quieted down. The sprite couldn't wait another second in the scary room! He lept out fom his hiding spot and into the room, sliding a few inches before stopping dead-center in the middle of the lighted room. He could feel all eyes on him! And was the room.. spinning?!
"Man, you're in the double digits. You're old." The red head sighed dramatically. "When you hear some of your favorite songs listed in the oldies, you're old." Lifting her head a bit, H.E. spotted a . . . brown thing? "Hey, is that guy yours?" She asked, pointing to the lost looking Jivvin Sprite.
"Indeed it is. Why did you pick that personality in particular?" It certainly sounded sadistic enough. Then again, one would have to pick an extreme personality in order to see how much it effected the specimen. Couldn't a more positive influence been chosen?
"Does classical music count as 'oldies'?" Kimiko asked, frowning. Her attention was called to the sprite on the floor, however, and she gave a shook of her head in response to H.E.'s question.
"Never seen it before in my life," she muttered, walking over to pick up the confused-looking sprite.
"The story interested me, plain and simple." Verde gave a nod, patting the egg gently with one hand.
Wha--what?! He was being picked up by one of the bipedial things! No!
The sprite squirmed about in the girl's arms for a good five minutes, then flel to a slump, exhausted. He simply did not have the energy to keep moving anymore.
"Depends how old the classical music is, I guess," Halfling Elf replied before watching Kimi walk over and pick up the Sprite. "Huh. Maybe we should look for it's owner? It looks pretty freaked," she watched with concern as the poor thing squirmed until it slumped. "Or maybe you should put it down. Looks like it doesn't like being picked up."
"As many things are, in life," Sameil looked at Mino, and he scurried back to her side. "Still. Do you not think the results may be problematic if they come out perfectly?"
Rini nodded "that is a great idea Puu" she walked over to the fridge and opend it. "on, look here, there are ice pops in here" she got three of them out and looked around "ok, all we need now is something to open it up with"
Oscar nodded "Puu know where at?" he looks at the other.
"Nope!" Puu yipped happily before grabbing one out of Rini's hands and gripping it carefully between his front paws. Then he simply took the top of the wrapper in his mouth and yanked, ripping it clean off with his sharp teeth. "Easy easy!" he cried before happily starting to munch on the treat.
Rini smiled "but mom will yell at me for ruinng my teeth" she examined that thought again. mom wasnt here, so she went at it, ripping the plastic off of both of them for oscar and herself. She handed Oscar's to him and kept one for herself, eating some of it. "this is really good!" she smiled.
Oscar took the ice and eat it as well "yum" he grinned. "Is, is! What we do now?" Puu bounced up and down once more, leaving his wrapper on the floor. "We play more? Can we? Can we can we can we?"
Rini picked up his wrapper from the floor and put in back inot Puu's hand "fist we clean up" she quickly finished up hers and then looked around "where do they hide the trash can here Puu?"
Oscar also finished up his and then looked at Puu "game play be show around" he nodded and flicked his tail, putting his wrapper into rini's hand "thank you" he said with a grin at Rini, who nodded back and took the wrapper from him.
Puu pouted at the wrapper for a few moments before twitching his ears and looking back at Rini.
"Puu no know! Puu not been here often," Puu sighed melodramatically (he had learned that from Demon-Tad, yes!) and held out his wrapper to Rini, trying his best to look cute and forlorn. "But game be Explorers?" The sprite inquired, looking over to Oscar. "Puu heart Explorers! Fun fun fun!"

Normal = Sameil Indigo = Maeve
She had run off into the forest, but she hadn't gotten lost. No. One did not loose oneself in woods they were familiar with... But one could get chased through them by big, scary monsterthings. She had felt one grabbing at her tail, threatening to eat her if she didn't run faster, if she didn't find her way out of the woods.
Breaking free into a clearing she began to gasp as large tears fell from her eyes. Sobs faded into soft sniffles as she curled up in the hollow of a fallen log, pulling her tail around her for comfort. The clearing wasn't far from the center. She knew that because she could smell the center in that direction but she couldn't go back there...
Because what if she did go back and Aaralyn hated her like mean, ugly Jhadia said he would?
Sameil quietly strode towards the Center, relief surrounding her with it’s comforting weight. She had finally been freed of casts and bandages and annoying owners that were extremely over-protective over things they shouldn’t have been; not being able to properly punish Puu was now a thing in the past. Now that she had her freedom back, she could continue on her research of her project and figure out what made her crash; it had certainly not been her fault, with checking over her calculations and testing it again and again. It should have been flawless. It should have been perfect. Everything had been right -- except, maybe, her information. Was it possible for any of it to be incorrect? It was certainly possible, with all of the damned books in the House being much to vague for her liking...
Muttering calculations under her breath, Sameil barely heard the soft sniffles coming from somewhere in the woods, off of the path that she was currently travelling. She was about to bypass it, not caring on whether the thing crying was in need of assistance or not (she certainly wasn't going to give it to them, if they needed it) but her small ferret suddenly veered off the path and dove into the underbrush, following his own nose to see the problem himself.
"Ferrets. . ." The Olplyn muttered under her breath, and reluctantly followed her pet. She'd rather not let him get eaten.
She pawed at her muzzle, attempting to brush some of the tears away before something caught her by suprise; the appearance of a long rodent... Somehting that she had never seen before. She shrieked, scrambling backwards towards the other end of her log, wondering if she would be able to escape before the creature (whatever it was) got to her.
Mino squeaked loudly at the shriek, quickly backing up himself and away from the loud thing. So when Sameil padded into the clearing, she was bombarded by the annoying racket and was forced to flatten her ears.
“For heavens sake . .” She muttered, walking up to her startled ferret and placing a paw gently on his tail. “Mino,” she spoke, making the rodent stop in his tracks and immediately stop squeaking. Turning towards the Ust that was still shrieking, the Olplyn glowered.
"Silence. Are you so afraid of a mere rodent that you cannot stand up for yourself?"
A tiny purple nose poked out from within the log, wriggling slightly before a pair of ruby eyes lifted to peek up at the source of the voice. Monsters didn't generally talk to their prey before devouring them, did they? "I-I've never seen a... One of those before." She sniffed, wrapping her long tail around her paws. "S'not a monster, is it? I thought... You might be a monster. But you're not. You're another Jivvin, like me."
Sameil rolled her eyes, but backed away from the log and gave the Ust enough room to come out of the log if they wished. The Jivvin was terrified enough, and the green Jivvin didn’t want it screaming again. She had had enough of that from Puu.
“He is not a monster, he is a ferret. A highly intelligent ferret, but a ferret nonetheless.” She watched her pet crawl up cautiously to the log once more. “Or course I am another Jivvin. We are near the Jivvin Center, are we not?”
She leaned down, sniffing at the fer-ret cautiously before deeming it safe enough to return her eyes to the elder Jivvin. "W-we are... But... That doesn't mean that there aren't monsters out there." Her ears flattened as she tried to peer past the green Jivviness in order to glare at the woods. "They were after me. I saw them." Alright, so she didn't really see them... But she had felt them.
Mino sniffed right back at the purple Jivvin, curiously patting her paws, while Sameil heaved a tiresome sigh.
"There is obviously nothing after you anymore. If you did not want to be chased by 'monsters' in the first place, than you should have stayed home with your care-taker rather than running into a forest." Deeming the Ust fine, Sameil whistled to her ferret and started treading towards the Center, using her nose to guide her. Mino chittered at his owner before looking up at the younger Jivvin and turning around to follow Sameil.
"Care-taker?" She took a step further from her wooden safe-haven, peering around cautiously before trotting after the larger Jivvin. "I think that's Aara... And if that's the case... I don't think he likes me anymore... Leas'... That's what the big, ugly beast who chased me into the woods said." She sniffled again, this time more for dramatics than any other reason. "Who ever cared what a beast says?" Sameil repiled, mentally sighing as the Ust followed her. She certainly hoped that this 'Aara' would soon come and take this nuisance off of her. "You are obviously not an Olplyn."
She thought about that for a moment. The elder Jivvin had a point... Why should she care what some big, mean, nasty, ugly, horrible beastie said? As long as it wasn't 'get in my belly', she should be fine.
Quickly realizing that when she'd paused to think her movements had ceased she picked up her pace in order to catch up once more. "Ol... Ol-pullin'? What's that?" "Rank," was all the older Jivvin said, spotting the porch of the Center through the brush. She was happy to see it; her muscles were starting to slightly ache from the walk, no thanks to the fact that she had barely used them for the past few months. Scowling at her own weakness, the green Jivvin looked at the Ust from the corner of her eye.
"Do you not think your care-taker will be searching for you?"
"Maybe..." She answered the question quickly. Aaralyn may or may not come looking for her. It all depended on whether or not he really did hate her like stupid-head had said. If he didn't he would. If he did he wouldn't. Simple, right?
"What's'a'rank?"
Sameil parted through the bushes to reach the yard of the Center, looking down to make sure her ferret was still trotting beside her.
"A way of classifying Jivvins from one another," was the curt reply, and Sameil picked up her pace slightly as to reach the door to the Center faster. Now that Puu wasn't here, the couch was sounding inviting. . . If she could shake the Ust, of course.
"Should you not be heading home? It is getting late."
"I... Guess." She sniffled once more, eyeing the forest cautiously. She really didn't want to go into there alone again, even if she was still certain that she knew they way home.
"Maeve?" A soft voice traveled towards the center from the path leading through the woods. "Mae? The time for playing hide and seek is over now... As has the time to..." The blue Jivvin stopped not far from the porch, tilting his head towards the other female. "... As has the time for pestering adults."
Sameil turned her head towards the newcomer, nodding slightly to him. So the Ust's name was Maeve; than the blue Jivvin was probably her relative of some sort, and she could leave the small purple Jivvin in his care without Mino harassing her about it.
"Good day, Maeve." Flicking her tail, Sameil scaled the porch steps and opened the door, seeking the warmth inside the Center as she let it close behind her.

Lucius padded softly through the hall at the Jivvin center... He was still in a good mood (but then again he ususally was.)
Uri padded along behind him... he was still in a bad mood (same application) "Luke why are we doing this? We were here last night and all you succeded in doing was drinking some fruit." He hated this place. He hated the way his paw clanked against the floor. Floors like this were the main reason he never went in the kitchen or the bathroom at Lily's house.
"We are doing this for our own good. We're antisocial... Besides... I got more done last night than you did. Where did you go anyway?"
"The library." He didn't have to wait for Lucius to ask, he knew what came next. "yes yes... the library. There's a whole room here that's just filled with books. I'm sure you'll be right at home." He grimmaced, let the way to the library and pushed open the door, metal paw first.
Sameil was in one of the back corners of the aforementioned library, reading a book that had no real cover but still deemed to be fasinating enough for the green Olplyn. Her ears twitched at the creak of the library doors opening and she let out a light huff as the scent of two unknown Jivvins came to her nose. One smelt mysteriosly of metals, but the Jivveness shrugged it off with her general nonchalance and continued to flip the dog-eared pages. As long as they left her alone, she didn't care what they did.
Once the two of them were inside the room Uri flipped his head at a bookshelf. "they're full of all kinds of books. How long are we going to stay here?"
"Well... we're here to be social, not to read books..." but the call of the shelves packed messily to the brim was almost greater than the need to socialize. "We could..."
"Wait!" Uri turned and glared at the back corner. "Did you hear that?"
"Hear... what?" Luci was confused. But he had learned during their last adventures that when Uri told him to shut up, then he needed to shut up.
Uri stalked over to the shelf and peered through the books. He turned back to his pink brother. "We should leave. There's someone in here already."
"Really?" Luci preked up and marched around the corner. He came across Samiel and a smile about split his face in two. "Hello! I like to rad too. I'm Luke."
Oh. Dear. Gods.
Sameil had glanced up as the voices had gotten closer to her small alcove, ready to snap at the nosey Jivvin that dared disturbed her, when she was struck dumb by the clash of colours on legs that had come around the corner. The Jivvin was, to put it in the nicest way she could think, burning her retinas. And they had wings. Despicable.
"Generally the only people that tread through a library's doors enjoy reading, and not some other type of activity," the Olplyn intoned after she had regained her sight, glaring out of the corner of her eye as she returned to her book. "You obviously have no manners as well, if you would interrupt someone preoccupied with a task at hand." There. Hopefully that would make the thing skitter off towards it's companion and make them leave.
Luke didn't take the hint. He was too intent upon being social. "Not always true." He flipped his tail knowingly. "My brother doesn't like to read, and he's the one who found this place." Luke though for a second and then nodded as if confirming something only he could hear. "In fact he hates to read."
"That's true." Uri walked around the corner, so he could see the female jivvin. "C'mon Luke... she doesn't want to talk to us." He looked her over before glaring at Luke.
Sameil had scowled as another eye-blinding Uuthli rounded the corner. She was eager to agree with the newcomer about them leaving her be, and started opening her mouth to voice it, when his leg caught her eye.
The shiny, thin, obviously well built metal leg.
Now Sameil had found herself in a conundrum; telling the Uuthlis to leave would mean making the leg leave, and the leg could possibly help her in building her project. On the other hand, her eyes were starting to hurt, and the wings were starting to annoy her with their soundless taunts.
Accursed curiosity.
"You. Luke's companion," she added, not wanting to seem that rude now that she wanted information, "where did you get that leg?" It was possible that she could just find the engineer and converse to him about the mechanics, after all.
Uri just glowered at her. "none of your busisness."
"He was born with it." Luke piped up from beside his brother, his manner still cheery, even with Uri in his head projecting mental daggers at him, and Sameil sitting in front of him giving him the cold shoulder. "his name's Rusty."
Uri turned and glared at Luke. "That's not my name." It was his name though. It was the nickname that his Lucius had given him... much like he had nicknames Lucius, Luke. It was more his name than anything else, but it seemed strange to have to share his name with other jivvins. He wasn't so sure he wanted this female to know his name.
"Yes it is." He folded his wings down against his body. "quit being weird. He was born with it and he hates it. What's your name?"
It was almost too much for the green twin.
"How is it possible for something to be born with metal attachments?" Sameil muttered before gently closing her book. "My name is Sameil," she replied to Luke without taking her eyes off of "Rusty"'s limb. Probably a nickname, but she would use what was given to her.
"If you do not appreciate it, why not throw it away?" She asked, before adding, "I could take it off your hands, if you would like."
Uri/Rusty failry growled at her. "Don't be stupid. How would I walk? It would be the same as me asking you for one of your legs."
"Sameil... " He smiled ignoring his brother. "That's a pretty name. Why do you want Rusty's leg?"
"Why do you care?" Rusty shook his head at Luke.
"You could get a new one. I am sure there are people somewhere on Gaia that could make one not so. . . Naked." They also probably wouldn't be able to make one as perfectly in balance as that leg. Or one that grew with the owner, if what the two Uuthis said were truth -- she really wanted that leg. A metal like that could make a person rich, if they learned the location to mine it.
"Thank you, Luke. I wish to aquire your -- brother's? -- leg in order to examine it and determine how, exactly, it was created." There was no reason to not tell them what she would do with the leg, and if she left some more personal points, well, they would never know. The Olplyn was still looking at the leg. She didn't want to loose her eyesight anymore than she had to.
"Yes... Twins actually. He's my twin brother."
"Quit staring at me before I step on your head." Rusty was getting upset.
"He's um..." Luke could see that Sameil wasn't looking anywhere other than the green Jivvin's leg. "He's a bit touchy about the leg... you probably didn't know, but it's not so nice to stare like that."
"If you don't want people staring, than you should get a skin for it," Sameil sniffed, before reluctantly looking up towards the two Uuthlis. A threat that pathetic would never spook her, and she could take them on easily even if one had metal on his side.
"What would be possible for me to have an actual closer look at your limb, 'Rusty'?" She enquired. The Olplyn would sacrifice her comfort zone if it meant figuring out the make.
Sameil calling him by his 'nickname' caught him off guard. Suddenly he didn't care anymore. "Whatever. But don't touch me." He made no move to get closer or even hold his leg out any. He simply sat himself down and stared cruely at her.
Luke sat when his brother sat. Pink and Green side by side.
Sameil's return stare gave back what was given and more, but she did rise from her seat and trot over. Cursing her curiosity and trying to keep her hackles down from being in such close proximity to the Uuthlis, the Olplyn looked the leg up and down, trying to figure out how it exactly worked. It wasn't a simple dead weight, or else it would probably be more cumbersome than this cheeky Jivvin could stand; although it would prove him right, she thought darkly.
The leg itself was a work of art, however. Every bolt and joint were aligned perfectly with each other; the metal was placed for maximum efficiency, did not hinder any movement whatsoever, and was sturdy enough to probably hold the total weight of the Jivvin and then some. She muttered esimated lengths and sizes to herself, creating something of a blueprint of the exterior in her mind. Later, when she had it properly down on paper, she would start hypothesizing on what exactly the interior was.
Rusty jerked his leg back towards his body. "That's enough." Her fascination with the metal was almost perverse in his mind. THe leg itself was a disgrace, a strange and obvious attempt at something... oh he didn't know. No one did. "That's plenty. You're done." He turned with a sneer and strode back over to the doorway. "I'm leaving Luke."
Luke jumped to his feet. "It was nice to meet you, Sameil." He smiled and turned to follow hso brother. "I'm sorry to hav interupted your reading." And then he disapeared through the door, after his twin.
Sameil snorted at the the rudeness of others and didn't even bother to reply to Luke's farewell. Instead, she collected the book she had been reading gently in her mouth, put it into her displaced book bag, and slung it's entirety over her shoulders. She did, however, give the two Uuthlis time to vacate the premises before leaving herself, hurrying as quickly as she could towards her home.
There were blueprints to draw, after all.

Normal = H.E., Sameil, Egg Green = Piper, Ari'Nacht Dark Blue = Tiana, Egg
"Egg egg egg egg eggggg~!" Halfling Elf chirped happily as she sat on on of the couches at the Center. She had a cloth with her and was rubbing the egg in her lap with the utmost care; of course, she'd randomly squeak with happiness and hug the blue and white Sel. And then back to making the shell shiny. She had no clue if the egg was a boy or a girl, or even what Rank it was (she'd spent some quality time with Sameil to get that out of her 'Olplyn'), but hey, it was another Jivvin! And a baby! The Gaian always got giddy when a new baby came to the house, and this was no exception.
Which probably explained why her Llar was nowhere in sight. Oh well.
Piper had spent the day and night after she had met with Jack unpacking her things, and calling the University, and cancelling on her loans and aid. (Which of course meant some unneccesary gold out of her pocket) But, in her opinion, it was all worth it. She had to do what she had to do. All the while, she'd turn to her egg, caressing it and warming it.
The next day, she found herself not knowing what to do. She was completely preoccupied, comsumed by the demands of the egg. She'd already quit her job to leave for school. Everything was to start anew. All because of this little creature.
So, with nothing else to do, nowhere else to go, Piper placed her egg in a little padded pouch she'd fashioned for it. It hung around her neck, in the front, kind of like a baby caddy. Then, now able to use her cane, she headed once more to the Jivvin Center. She did, like she said, have much to learn, after all. And that was the only place she had to go.
She entered the Center, and began to stalk around for potential prey.
H.E. looked up from her egg, grinning happily at the newcomer. Of course, her blindfold decided right that moment to fall back onto her eyes and she muttered a moment or two before lifting it back onto her forehead.
"Hello! I'm Halfling Elf; nice to meet 'cha. You new here?" Her eyes twinkled over her egg as she hugged it again. "Your egg looks really pretty~"
So it happened that Piper's quarry found her. She smiled her awkward, crooked smile, and half-hobbled over to the couch. "Greetings! I am called Piper. Piper Evertree. And, yes, I only just received this Little One. However, I have found myself greatly intrigued by recent events. And things can only get more interesting from here."
She took a seat, carefully positioning herself to sit while minding her egg and her leg. "This here is Ari'Nacht. Or he will be, I suppose. I'm afraid I'm not very good at this sort of thing, yet."
"Nice to meet you, Piper," H.E. greeted properly, and scooted over on the couch to give the other girl some room. "And Ari'Nacht, too, of course! I haven't decided what my little guy's gonna be called," she added, happiness at meeting someone new making her words a bit mushed together, "but I don't know what sex they're gonna be or anything. Not even their Rank."
She stuck her tongue out playfully. "Diro -- my Skull Monkey -- found it outside a couple days ago when the doorbell rang. I'm guessing Moo was in a rush, or something."
Tiana yawned as she trudged up to the center, clutching her fire-colored egg. She had an idea what she'd name it, if it were male or female now. Though she did hope she'd find out what rank it was...perhaps there was a Jivvin that could tell her? Though Luci hadn't seemed to know...oh well. She perked up at the sight of a couple others, also with their eggs...sels, she mentally corrected herself. Or was the plural just sel? "Hi..."
Piper pursed her lips. "I met someone called Jack earlier. And he told me that Ari was a boy... He also said something about the word... Olpy... Oppin... something to that effect. I didn't get to ask him just what it was that he meant by that."
Piper smirked back. "Mine was at my door, as well... A curious way to deliver an egg. Sort of calls to mind the idea of an orphen, or an unwanted child."
She looked up through her obnoxiously thick glasses at the newcomer. "Well, hello there!"
"Jack? I don't think I've met him, but my memory could be acting up again." The Gaian sighed over-dramatically before giving her egg a rub. "Could he have said Olplyn? 'Cause my Sameil's an Olplyn as well ---"
H.E. cut herself off as the new newcomer came through the door. "Oh! Hi! You new here too?"
Tiana nodded. "Yeah, only been up here once...met a Jivvin, Lucius." She perked up at H.E.'s statement. "You've got some experience raising them? I've studied a little on them, but just enough to guess what's what."
"You're not alone, honey," Piper said happily, offering her a seat on the couch.
"Olplyn!" Piper almost shouted, at having her memory refreshed. "That's the one. So... Ari is an.. Olplyn? Might I assume that that is a kind of Jivvin?" She turned to the newcomer. "It looks like we both have much to learn... uh- sorry, I didn't catch a name."
"Yup! An Olplyn is a Rank. Apparently all Jivvins are classified under Ranks, but I don't know 'em all. Almost everything I've learned about Jivvins, I got through Sameil. I should probably come here more and learn by myself." H.E. kicked her legs up and down, looking at both the girls. "Either that, or steal a book or two from Sameil."
A mental snort resonated through her head, and the red head grinned.
"Books? There's books on them here?" Tiana grinned, practically bouncing on her toes as she kept a tight grip on her sel. "I might have to find that library-assuming there is one-and raid it, if I'm allowed."
"The Jivvins are Ranked before they are even born? That hardly seems fair." Piper rubbed her egg gently, as though reassuring it that she would never judge it. She imagined the Jivvins being ranked as kings and pages, noblemen and peasants.
"I would have to follow you on that escapade... Now, what was that name, miss?" Piper attempted once more to learn the girl's name.
"Apparently? I was only told Sameil was an Olplyn after she had hatched. I think it has to do with their personalities, more than anything else." She mentally prodded her Olplyn curiously, and got a short :Talk later,: for her troubles.
"I'll third that motion. And hey, Piper has a point. What is your name?" Halfling Elf grinned again. "I could call you Newbie, if you don't want to tell us."
"Ooops." Tiana grinned sheepishly. "It's Tiana. And yeah...I tend to forget things. Yeah...the ranks seem to do with personalities, except for the Uuthli having wings?"
Piper sighed. She'd be getting far more information in the next few weeks than University could have ever offered.
"Uuthili... well... what exactly is a Olplyn's personality, generally speaking?" She was getting apprehensive as to what she might have to deal with when Ari'Nacht hatched.
"Nice to meet you, Tiana! But I've never heard the the Uuthli rank," H.E. commented, blinking. "And for Olplyns? Well, if Sameil's any kind of example, I'd say secretive. She doesn't like interacting much with anyone in my house, and she holes herself in her room a lot. She's usually polite to people, though~"
"I'd heard Uuthli were the winged ones. Not sure if their personality differs from the other ranks' though." Tiana looked down, stroking her egg. "Really...I think I'd be glad with any rank."
Secretive? Seclusive, even? Piper wasn't certain if she could handle that. She was a rather open person, even if other people gave her a wide berth.
But, no matter what, she'd love the Little thing. "And I as well. Fate has granted me this gift, and I for one am grateful. Never one to ask why, not me... Of course, that does not mean I'm not curious."
"I'm pretty sure you've got some rank, Tiana," Halfling Elf smiled widely. "We're all really lucky! Maybe we could hunt down that Jack guy and demand some answers. He sounds like he knows a lot~" She perked up a bit. "And maybe after our eggs hatch, we can have a play-date? So our Jivvins have friends?"
Tiana grinned ferally. "Hunting down a male...since when have I ever passed a chance for that up? And it'd be cool to maybe find out rank and gender, don't you think? Or was it him that told you that?" She blinked. "I forgot. But I'll have to pass for another time, it's time I started heading home. It was nice talking to everyone, though." She nodded and turned, starting back down the road to 'civilization.'
Piper pouted her lips at Tiana's comment. It's not like she was serious, so Piper thought, but Piper had what one might call a - diverse sense of humor.
"Yes, Jack knew almost immediately what my Jivvin was. He really quite kind and patient about it all... And he has allowed me to contact him if I needed it. He seems to be pretty high up as far as this Center is concerned. He'd said his own mother was responsible for delivering our eggs is concerned."
"His mom?" Halfling Elf scratched her head. "Could be Moo, I guess. Either that or there's more than one person handing out eggs. But, if he gave you some way of contacting him, shouldn't we try it?" She blinked as Tiana rose. "See you later, Tiana~ Have a safe trip home! Nice meeting you!"
Piper waved a farewell to the departing Tiana.
Moo... Jack's mother? And still Piper wondered, was Moo a bond, or a mother by birth? Where had her egg come from? She snapped out of it, and turned back to Halfling. "Hmm? Oh, yes, yes. Though, I'd wait before going about it. He seemed so very tired when I had met with him. We are far from alone in receiving these eggs, it seems."
"D'awwwww~ But I guess it would be bad to disturb him when he's tired." She flopped back onto the couch, huggling her egg. "So, what do you wanna do while we wait, then?" She thought a moment. "I could see if Sameil wants to come, so you can meet an Olplyn."
"Oh! To meet Sameil would be marvelous, indeed!" Piper said excitedly. "The only Jivvin I've met 'till now was Jack, and he looked more human than anything else. That is, until he showed me his - other - self."
"And, after all, Ari'Nacht is an Olplyn himself. It would be wise for me to get a taste of what is to come."
Halfling Elf laughed happily and nodded. "It's always a good plan, to figure out what might happen." :So can you come, Sameil? Pleaaaaaase? Piper wants to see how awesome Olplyns are!:
There was an elongated pause before the red-head got an answer, but she knew better than to rush her Jivvin. :You are lucky I that I just finished my work. Tell this Piper that I will be there in a moment.:
:Thank you, Sameil! I'll make some cookies for you later, okay?: She grinned again as a snort was her answer, before blinking away the vacant look in her eyes. "Sameil says she'll be here soon. She's a pretty fast runner, so I wouldn't doubt her."
Piper blinked her blown-up eyes in confusion. "Run that by me again, if you will. It seems that I have missed something. How, how did you know that? You have spoken to her? I certainly didn't hear anything." She looked around the room for some sign of this mystery Jivvin.
"Oh! Oh. Well, um." Halfling Elf scratched her chin for a moment, trying to gather her thoughts. "Well, me and Sameil have a bond, you know? And since Sameil was a kid, she could send emotions and stuff to me. These days, she usually blocks it off so she's 'not disturbing me', but recently we can talk. If we want to. She doesn't like using it much, though, unless I mention her name or I prod her enough."
Fascinating.
"Oh! So it's like - telepathy, or something? Fantastic. Absolutely fantastic." Piper was getting even more excited now. She adjusted the satchel that held her egg snug and secure, trying to shift the warmth to another part of the egg. Soon, she'd be able to know whenever her Jivvin needed her; she'd form a friendship unlike any she'd had before - especially considering she had never had many friendships in the past.
"Yeah, it's just like telepathy!" H.E. grinned. "It certainly freaked me out the first time, though, since I didn't expect it."
The door opened then, and the Llar trotted in. Looking around the Center and seeming to heave a sigh, Sameil walked quietly over to the couch and sat a polite distance away.
"Greetings; you are Piper, I presume?" The red eyes seemed somewhat bored.
Even having gotten forwarning like this, Piper didn't doubt that it'd startle her, as well. It was certainly out of the norm to hear someone else's voice in one's head.
Then Sameil walked in. She was gorgeous, Piper decided. The markings on her were so intense, exotic, the red contrasting marvelously with the green. She wondered vaguely whether Ari would end up looking like the pattern on his egg.
"That I am; it is a pleasure to meet you, Sameil. And this here is Ari'Nacht." She stroked the egg lovingly.
"A fellow Olplyn, if I have heard correctly?" Sameil nodded her head slightly to both the owner and the Sel. "A rank that is a proud one to bare."
"Of course you'd say that, Sameil; you're an Olplyn too!" H.E. grinned at her Jivvin, and merely received a cool look back.
Piper nodded seriously. "And I am sure he will be proud as well. I will be sure to let him meet you when he comes."
She smiled at H.E.'s comment. They seemed to be different, she and her Jivvin. She hoped that Ari wouldn't be quite so cold, though she wouldn't be able to make judgment on Sameil just now. It wasn't fair. But it would be a lie to say that she wasn't nervous.
"I look forward to meeting him when he has hatched." Sameil glimpsed at the Sel. "Seeing from his egg, Ari'Nacht will be a quite handsome Jivvin."
"Of course he will~! All Jivvins are cool." H.E. raspberried the Llar, who merely sighed again before giving her a look that quietly said are we done yet?
Piper swelled. Sameil certainly had an appreciation for other Jivvins, at any rate. Or maybe just other Olplyns. This was all so... so fascinating. Piper couldn't contain herself. She needed to learn more. Her thirst for knowledge of these enchanting creatures was growing more and more. She had so many questions, even more than when she had spoken to Jack.
She wasn't certain about Sameil's patience, though. Cool, indeed. "I wonder, though. Does either of you know just how long it will take for him to hatch? Not that I am an impatient person, but it would help me to know." She straightened her frames.
"It varies from Jivvin to Jivvin, I'd guess," H.E. replied, looking over to her own Jivvin and recieving a nod. "Sameil took . . . Eight days? Yeah, around eight days for her to come out of her egg. I was bouncing as much then as I am now." She grinned happily again. "It's really exciting, watching them hatch."
"Only over a week? Goodness, I had best be ready, then." She absently rubbed her bum leg, which was growing slightly achy. "Now, I have now heard of Uuthli, which apparantly have wings. And of course, there are Olplyn, like you, Sameil, and my Ari here. But, what others are there? You wouldn't happen to know, would you, Sameil?"
"There are a few others," the Olplyn replied. "Vhaid. Afya. Daewl. Sargtlin. Books that are available in the Library go into detail about all of the Ranks." Halfling Elf blinked at a few of the names she hadn't heard of before -- only two, but still! -- and pouted slightly.
"Where's the Library?" She asked, and Sameil gave her a Look before replying.
"At the House."
"The -- House. . . Oh! The mansion! There's a library there? Damn, I could've learned this stuff already!" Halfling Elf face-palmed, while Sameil rolled her eyes and muttered something that sounded like 'humans' under her breath.
"The House... What is that place? More importantly, does the Library have public access? If so, I shall be spending much of my time in there, to be certain." She tried to mentally register the names of all the Ranks Sameil had given her. It would be a jolly time, indeed.
"The House is connected to the Center through a path in the woods." She gave another Look to Halfling Elf, who just sulked quietly. "The Library does allow the public to enter, however."
"The House is this big mansion thing," Halfling Elf chipped in, seemingly over the tiny funk she had been in. "It's got at least four floors, I swear! Huuuuge." She flailed with one hand, so the egg wasn't displaced on her lap.
Piper's disturbingly large eyes glistened. "I will definately have to see this Library very soon," she said passionately. And a large mansion in the woods? Her Lady had led her down an adventerous path. "-And of course the rest of the Mansion with it." Piper tried to flex her leg now, and winced painfully. It was telling her that her time was short. "I'm afraid that Cinderella's time is just about up. This leg's about to turn pumpkin on me. However, I intend to make a trip to that Library, and would be pleased if you would accompany me when I do." She searched her pockets, until she'd recovered a small pen and a scrap of paper, upon which she scribbled. "Here, my contact information." She handed H.E. the scrap of paper. The back of it contained an old shopping list. "I look forward to seeing you again."
"Sure, that'd be fun!" Halfling Elf grinned and took the note, before ripping an end off and taking a pencil out of her hat and scribbling her own contact information on it. "Here~ I can't wait to see you later, too! Hope your leg feels better soon." She looked down worringly at the limb. "Do you need any help or anything?"
Sameil just watched from her seat.
She took the paper with a smile, and tucked it in the front pocket of her coat. "Oh, no, no, do not worry about me." Piper rose with a slight groan, hand on her cane for support. "This old thing bothers me all the time. Just another one of those things that Life decided to throw at me. Makes me feel a mite older than I am, it does. As for feeling better soon - it comes and goes. It doesn't do well with sitting - or standing for that matter." Piper laughed oddly at herself. "But, again, don't worry. I'll make it alright." She winked at Halfling. "Again, a right pleasure meeting you, it was. As it was meeting you, Sameil. Here's to our new Little Joys!"
With that, she turned an walked away, cane thunking faithfully at her side.
"If you're sure. Have a good day, Piper~!" Halfling Elf grinned and waved. "It was awesome meeting you! And here's to 'em!" Sameil nodded respectfully and watched Piper walk out.
"Ready to go home, Sameil?" H.E. chirruped, and the Olplyn just got up and walked out of the Center. "Oi~! Wait for me! You're not the one carrying an egg~!"
And the three walked home together in peaceful quiet.

Tiana stared up at the house/mansion, clutching her egg tightly. Well. There didn't seem to be a library at the Center, so that left this.
Eyeing the triple doors, she quickly decided the middle one looked safest. Slipping through the door, she set about poking her head through doorways. No room of books on first floor...alrighty then. Hiking up the stairs, she quickly ascertained the second floor seemed full of bedrooms. Not what she was looking for.
She started up the stairs to the third floor, none too quietly.
Sameil strode up and down the isles of the Library, peering at the countless backs and pausing every once in a while to look in more detail. Claws clicking quietly against the hardwood floor as she prowled, the Jivvin narrowed her red eyes at the useless materials in front of her. Surely there was a book that could help her, give her the information that she needed! That leg had shown her a great many things she had not realised, and the Olplyn felt like she was nearing the thought that would let her succeed with her project. But she could not figure out what she was missing.
So with irritation high, the Jivvin continued her search, deaf to any other noise.
Tiana grinned as she finally spotted books. About time she found this library! Now to find a book about Jivvins...wait. That clicking noise... Walking in a bit further, she caught glimpses of what she thought was most likely a Jivvin. "Hello?" she called out quietly.
The 'hello' was steadfastly ignored by the Olplyn, although it was difficult to tell whether it was purposeful or not. The Jivvin got to a point where she would gently pull a book out, flip it open, mutter when the information wasn't what she was looking for, and put it back with more force than necessary.
Honestly, it should not be this difficult to find a book!
Hmmm. Tiana's eyes lit with a mischeivous gleam. So that was how this one was going to be, eh? Humming softly to herself, sel cradled in one arm, she started wandering the aisles herself, eyes wandering over the titles. "I must say, I'm hoping to find a book that will tell me more about what I'll be raising," she spoke, almost as if to herself. "But I'm sure there's someone that knows much more about this library than I...should I try to find him?"
The Olplyn paused in her search, placing the book that had been in her mouth on the ground and turned her head to look at the newcomer with narrowed eyes.
"Perhaps you should try seeking out your book for yourself, rather than disturbing others who have a greater importance than jumping to their paws to serve you at your beck and call. But please," she intoned, turning her head back to the book, "do not let me interfere in your search for this person who has such a great knowledge of the Library."
"Greater importance?" Tiana tilted her head. "Do tell...perhaps I could help. You also seem to be looking for something, or are you pacing these aisles simply for exercise?" She quirked a brow.
"What I am doing is a private matter, and needs no assistance from you." The Jivvin picked up the book and returned it to it's proper place on the shelf, not bothering to look back at the newcomer. "Enjoy searching."
It figured the one day she was in absolute need of the library, she would be hackled. Turning out of the isle and going down to one that had not been searched, Sameil let out a soundless sigh.
"Suit yourself." Tiana shrugged. "Though if what you seek is not in this library, I could possibly find it elsewhere. Cooking recipes, explosives, hang gliders, model airplanes...along with more interesting things, such as news on what's going on in the world."
A barely audible snort was all that Tiana recieved, and then silence. Not even the clicking noises from her claws could be heard; it seemed as if the Jivvin had left the room entirely.
Tiana rolled her eyes and started wandering the aisles herself. She wondered if this Jivvin came into the library often. Oh well...information was information, even if where it was kept was guarded by an aloof creature.

Normal = Halfling Elf, Egg Green = Piper, Ari'Nacht
It was a nice day outside the Center, Halfling Elf thought with a grin. Her egg sat happily in its carry pouch (dutifully covered in stickers) on her back, occasionally wiggling from side to side with apparent joy. The Gaian had just biked over from her house to the Center after phoning Piper; it was a good say to go to the Library!
Piper was glad that Halfling had decided to call her so soon. It was rare that Piper's phone ever rang, so she almost shuddered with anticipation when she heard it. She hurried down herself, her egg safely padded in its caddy.
She squinted at the sun in her eyes as she reached the Center. She waved to H.E. happily, and ran over, as fast as her leg would allow. "Good day to you! Are we ready to be off, then?"
"Hi, Piper~! Yup, let's go!" The red-head hopped up from her seat on the steps and cheerfully joined the other girl's side. "We have to go through that path and just stick to it until we get to the House~ Sameil says it's on the third floor." H.E. pointed towards the little opening in the forest, a well-trod path in the snow defining the direction. A cheeky grin flitted across her face.
"So how're you and Ari?" She asked as she started walking towards the path.
Piper followed along Halfling briskly. "Oh, I do believe he's getting along rather nicely. I can sometimes swear I feel movement, but that could just be my being so excited."
"Where is Sameil? It seems she likes to keep to herself a lot. I suppose she's rather grown up by this point?"
"Or it could not be! My egg like wiggling. A lot. Sporadically. It's kinda amusing to watch, if it's not near any drops." She laughed happily and crossed under the first branches that started to cover the trail.
"Yeah, Sameil's pretty all grown up. She doesn't like going out and exploring as much as she did when she was younger." The girl stuck her tongue out. "But as long as she's not trying to get herself hurt, I'm fine with whatever she does."
Piper smiled. It seemed that despite the fact that Sameil and Halfling were so very different, she still cared about her very much.
The path down to the mansion was beautiful. And the sun was not so harsh here, being shaded by the trees. Gorgeous greens and golds were splashed along their path, shimmering in the breeze.
Eventually, the building started to come into view.
"Ah! There it is~!" Halfling Elf grinned and ran the last few feet towards the middle door, waiting with her hand on the handle for Piper to catch up. As soon as her new friend was close enough, she grinned again and swept the door open, dipping into a goofy bow.
"Welcome to the House!"
Piper hobbled up excitedly behind Halfling Elf, taking in the great House in awe. How much knowledge, how many mysteries, were hidden within those walls. Sameil had said that the House Library was open to the public. But there were probably many places where she could never tread.
She laughed in appreciation of Halfling's mock gesture, and entered in.
"Third floor, you say?"
"Yup! Unless Sameil tricked me, but she's not the one to do that. So to the third floor we go~!" Halfling's eyes twinkled happily as she skipped over to the stairs and hopped onto the first step.
"After we mess around in the Library, do you wanna explore the rest of the place? I mean, it looks really cool and big, and I haven't gone past the first floor before." That was to phone for help, but she wasn't going to say that. Sameil would probably severely injure her if she did.
Piper nodded and headed to the stairs. Stairs. Piper lived in a one story house, and found all sorts of ways to avoid needing to walk up stairs. However, she was more than capable, she just didn't prefer it, not by a long shot.
"I shall have to make a point of accompanying you, indeed. However, my plans for today revolve completely around just how consuming my latest knowledge endeavor proves to be." There was a hungry look in her buggy eyes, and she bit her lip to keep from squealing. She'd tackle a thousand floors of stairs to get to this library.
"O'course! Today, the library, tomorrow, the world." H.E. made a funny pose, trying to keep her balance on the stairs. "But we only need what's in the Library right now."
So she walked up the stairs with Piper, keeping to the other girl's pace and not hurrying ahead like she really wanted to to the third floor. She'd be there to help Piper if she wanted it, but she didn't ask; she'd met enough people that bit back if you asked too much, and walking up stairs wasn't something you could really help someone with.
"We're almost there~!"
"Oh, marvelous." Piper panted her way up the last of the stairs. Note to self, Piper dear: No more stairs.
"Now." She put her hands on her hips. "Which way from here?"
"At least you're at your goal, now?" H.E. chirruped, looking around. "And I'd guess they're behind thost doors." Walking up to the decently sized doors and pushing them open, she stuck her head in before pulling it out and grinning.
"Yup! Found it!" She opened the doors further, giving Piper room to walk in. "Looks kinda disorganized, though."
Piper's large eyes widened at the sight of the books. Dissheveled as they were, it was a beautiful sight. After all, true geniuses were known to be complete slobs.
She hurried in, egg bustling at her side. Noticing, she gently lifted the pack over her shoulder, and placed it comfortably on a chair. She'd sit beside him as she read.
"Where... where to begin?" Her amber eyes glistened.
"Who knows?" H.E. grinned at the sight of all the books. She'd certainly be coming back here! "Do you want to start at one end, and me the other? We could meet in the middle and split all the books we find." She carefully took her egg off her back and cradled it in her arms. "Is it okay if I keep my egg with Ari?"
"Sounds like a plan to me." Piper stopped midstep. "Oh sure! Ari'Nacht will take good care of it."
Then, she 'trotted' up the aisle to the far left, scanning the shelves keenly for books of her particular current interest. It was hard to not be distracted by everything else that was offered there. So much... so much.
"Thanks!" She put the egg down next to Ari and gave it a good rub on top before skipping over to the other end and started skimming. There really didn't seem like much order at all, but that seemed to make it more interesting to H.E., and she'd take one or two down to flip through just for fun.
Some of the covers she couldn't even read, the elegant symbols making her head hurt whenever she started looking at them. She gave those ones a glare and kept going, treating the books with broken spines and covers the cautiousness they deserved. Eventually a stack started forming in her arms, and she actually had to drop the books off in front of the eggs in order to go pick up some more books.
"Wah~ This Library's seems to have everything~!"
Piper returned from her search with a stack of books that went up past her nose. Tucked under her arm was her cane. Without it she limped along, until she plopped down in a clear space, gently releasing the books onto the floor to sort.
"This should keep me occupied, at least for a while." She looked through them all. Histories, atlases, anything she could find concerning the Jivvins. All I need now is a few days and a really comfy chair." "Amen to that." H.E. brought both of her stacks to where Piper was, though she didn't put them down just yet. "I saw some tables near the back. Wanna use those?"
"Surely." She hitched up her egg again, and gathered as many books as she could, this time needing her cane to walk.
With their Jivvins sitting by their sides, Halfling Elf and Piper spent all the rest of the day reading and researching, learning. Often, they would turn to the other, showing them some other bit that they had found. Sometimes Piper would read out loud, silently to Ari'Nacht. She had heard that reading to infants was good for them, as well as playing them music. Mayhaps it would aid Ari, even though he was not even hatched yet.
It wasn't until the sun had begun to set that the two friends even got the notion to leave.
