The dark haired girl watched the boy with intrest. He hadn't seemed clumsy, not at all. She wondered if it was her imagination or if he was hiding something. She shrugged. It was none of her business if he was.
"Miss Iris? What's that, like, your mom?"

"Yeah, she's my adoptive mom. Still haven't gotten used to calling her mom yet." -He wondered if he would be able one day? It wasn't like Iris was a hard name to say. He supposed only time would tell.-
"I've got two adoptive sisters too, but they're alot older, and don't seem to care about magic." -Alot of boys might have been turned off by the fact of living in an all girl family, but Remus didn't seem to mind. He wasn't a rough and rowdy boy, and besides.. thought he might not have realized it completely yet, Marian was plenty close enough to a 'boy'.-

"Ah, that's interesting. I have 3 sisters, one is still a critter, though. One is a lot older then me and the other is my age."
She raised an eyebrow. "Perhaps this should have been done first, but," she stuck out her small hand. "My name is Maleficent."

"Oh right!" -He laughed a little, taking her hand to give a few soft shakes, before he let it go.- "And I'm Remus Lupin."
"I get called by both, so either is fine."

"Remus," she repeated. That was a strange name, but then, so was 'Maleficent' now that she thought about it. Her sisters called her Mal, but she thought that was even worse.
She smiled very faintly at the light haired boy. "Well, it's nice to meet you," she said, scooting over on the couch and opening a book. "So, have you found anything interesting in here yet?"

-Her smile was met with a grin of his own, and he pulled himself up onto the couch, settling onto the cushions beside the book. He didn't open it, but simply pressed his hand on top of it, looking over it at the Maleficent.-
"Ohhh, well this book doesn't have any spells in it, I don't think. I was reading about power points and stuff. You know, the places in the world that hold the most power, and that you can borrow the most power from."
"The books says there are some places SO powerful, that even people without real magic training can accidentally do a thing or two. I was looking for informations on this place actually... But I haven't found any yet." -He nodded matter of factly, after his little ramble, golden strands of hair bouncing with the motion.

Power points, hm? Maleficent made a mental note to build her future castle on one of these 'power points' when she found one.
"If they don't have any spells, how'd you learn to do the other two that you showed me?" Three, technically. She thought the quieting one would work on more then just an amplified voice.

"I have more books at home." -Five to be exact, of differing topics.- "That's where I learned those spells! I have a few books with other spells too, but they're either too dangerous or too hard for me to figure out right now." -He grinned sheepishly at the admission.-
"I'm always looking for more books though! You have to look for them really well though. Maybe... if this place has a library, they might have some?"

Maleficent nodded. "Oh, there's a Library somewhere in the Castle," she said, struggling to hide the enthusiasm in her voice. "But..." she shuddered. "That's where everyone normally ends up."
There were always lots of people in the Library. She hated being around too many people at once. It made her nervous.

-He was obviously confused by her sentiment, he himself wanting nothing more then lots of people and lots of friends around. But... if they weren't friendly people.. well he certainly knew what it was like to be surrounded in people who didn't like you, or were angry at you.
Making up for her own hidden excitement he grinned widely.- "We should check it out sometime! We can peek in and see if anyone is about. Or maybe sneak in early in the morning, before people are awake and wandering about."

Maleficent thought. "Morning could work. Kida is not a morning person." And Jubilee was off in Traverse Town or something. She wasn't sure.
She looked up at Lupin curiously. "So...why did you come to the Kingdom? I mean, I was born here...or whatever it's called." As born as you could be, in the Kingdom.

"Kida is your mom?"
"Mmmm..." -He paused for a moment. It wasn't like he had a choice whether or not to come here, but so far in his short time here it didn't seem so bad.- "My parents were in an accident, and my neighbors got tired of taking care of me."
"It's alright though. Marian and Iris are very nice." -He hoped that they'd continue to be.. as long as he could hide his little secret.-

Maleficent's mouth dropped and her eyes darkend. Some where across the room, her small staff's orb had a lightning storm going on in it.
"No," she said coldly. "Kida is NOT my mother." She blinked, the fury leaving her eyes. But how was he supposed to have known that? She took a deep breath. "Kida is the oldest. The Lady Imbri is my mother." Maleficent was the only one in her family who added 'Lady' to her mother's name. Everyone else laughed at her when she did that.
"Why would your neighbor just get tired of taking care of you?" she asked quickly, changing the subject. "That's not very nice."

-Again he was biting his lip, trying to keep the instinctual sorry from slipping out, and angering the already upset little fae. And as she explained, he nodded softly in understanding.- "I see."
-His eyes adverted lightly as her questioning continued, offering a soft smile as he tried to weasel his way out.- "Well.. they had families of their own after all.."
"And like I said before.. I'm kind of clumsy. They didn't really like me."

Maleficent's eyebrows furrowed together. Her mind just couldn't wrap around the concept at all.
"But...Kida is mean sometimes...she's not really graceful, unless she's in the water...and Jubilee blows stuff up...and me? I'm..." A social outcast...hmm. "Well, I've got my flaws too." She shook her head. "And Imbri would nevewr think of giving us up, or not being able to take care of us. And she had 7 Neried girls before us." And she was pregnant now.
"I don't get it. That's just...rude. And...and mean." She shrugged. She didn't know how to explain it. Sure, she planned on ruling the Kingdom someday, and there would be very nasty things she'd have to do to get there, but this...this seemed like betrayal of the worst kind.
