I hoped it wasn't true, but it was: The ending was an anticlimax with the graal and all.

Summarizing, the book is a more downscaled version of Angels and Demons where the "bad guys" atleast had more to do with the plot then Aringrosa and Silas did in the Da Vinci Code. I feel they were only a catalysator for the story and not much more. sweatdrop

I'm Catholic, and though I've been curious about what all the fuss is about, I couldn't get past the lies Dan Brown tells. True it is fiction, but the guy has been on the news claiming all his research was accurate, when really only the names of things he made up stories about were accurate.
Case in point: Opus Dei is a society to help regular people to pray live their religion. It's not a secret society by any means and was only founded in 1928.

He made up history too...There is actually a short little book filled with questions about the Da Vinci Code, for example it asks the reader "were 150,000 women burned to death during the witch hunt?" then in the back gives the true answer, one finds, he made up his own history...

When I read it, I only read it for the story. I stopped at one chapter and it took me three or four days to get up the inner strength to pick it up and continue. (I only did it because I hate leaving any book half-read.)
Angels and Demons hadn't been too bad, but I found that the Da Vinci Code was a bit of a disappointment.

I loved the book, and I think one of the great things that has come from the book is the fact that it has made people stop and think, even if its in total oppostion to what the book says.

It makes people go research the ideas and facts that Brown puts in the book. Maybe question the ideas that we all have taken for granted as "truth". Even at a more surface level taken the time to go look and appreciate the pieces of art that are talked about in the book like the Mona Lisa, and Virgin of the Rocks.

I couldn't finish it.

I mean, it was SO impractical that I just couldn't bear to continue.

I think I recall a scene where they are running down the street, being shot at, and all he can think is "oh! look at the woodwork! spectacular!"

the last thing an ANYONE's mind when being shot at is the object in their hands...

I liked the Da Vinci Code..to be honest it wasn't written well at all...however, it was fast paced, and entertaining...it was the ideas which I loved most..the idea of a treasure hunt and all the religious theories..I know people have wrote about them in the past but Dan Brown brought them into the media attention, and made us more aware of them...I love theories that go against the norm, and I think that's why the Da Vinci Code appealed to me.

The film is boring..don't watch it..

I think The Da Vinci Code was rather convincing even if I am a Catholic. I really liked the adventerous feel on the book. Although I don't believe in any of it, it still is a book worth reading.

I read the Da Vinci Code and thougt it was fast paced and a page turner. There was alot of hype on the book and only read the book after the hype went down so my opinion was not swayed with what people where saying about the book. I think if you enjoy this book you should read Angels and Demons.
