Because Bruno's actual emphasis is on fighting-types, not rock-types; his massive Onix aside. What's the whole point of going rounds with someone who isn't afraid to duke it out with things that're stone-hard?

Good guess, but there's only one tawny gym leader that's ever pulled that off. And besides, this tuft of fur goes well with the bunny ears. And I don't have the tops I want yet.
