I don't like it at all. My idea of a superhero is that he CHANGES INTO THE COSTUME. Like takes off his or her clothes and the costume is underneath. This mental costume things defeats that.

Why is that important? By that logic, nobody in the new X-Factor cmic is a superhero, as their "costumes" are their normal sitting clothes.

Well for Spiderman and Superman...Like that.

I'm not seeing the distinction. A superhero is a superhero is a superhero, no matter what their costume is or whether they change or not.

Yeah, surely being a superhero is about whether you have powers, and what you do, or how you use them (not just mutant or meta-human powers- Batman still sort of has powers)

I don't mind really execpt that Peter Parker is actually meant to be a nerd not a super athlete with lots of muscle, even though he does start jigging school.

I don't think they changed Parker any, He's still the same old Peter Parker... Exept the world views him differantly now that he told the world that he is Spider-Man...

I don't agree with the New Spider-Man, Before he was born again Spiderman wasn't Technollogy. He wasn't a Psi. He wasn't Iron Man, He didn't have the abillity to talk to spiders and he didn't have 'stingers'.

What they did was fundamentally reinvent the Character of Spider-Man that everyone has grown to love and turned him into something he wasn't and not keeping any of what he was, which is a not-so-popular guy carrying what he feels is the weight of the world on his sholders.

I mean didn't Marvel learn from DC's mistake of changing Superman into a being of pure electricity during the story arch 'transformation' ...

Uh, as far as I've seen they've kept the whole "everybody's man with a few powers" thing. It's everything else they've changed.

Peter Parker is still just as you as you said, He is still the every man...

Except he wears a suit similar to Iron mans in abillities (with the exception of the booster jets and repulser rays) and he has also gained abajillion new powers...

i'm quite familiar with what has been going on with Spidey these days, thank you. I've read most of it. But it's not a "fundamental redefinitioon of the character" as you said it was, it's him getting a few extra powers that honestly will be used only occasionally, the one exception to this being the extra arms on the suit.

What about Spidey getting extra powers fundamentally redefines his character? Was the black suit a fundamental redefinition? Was the Clone Saga? No.

Yeah, I'm .. totally not digging the new Spidey suit. Sorry, but I guess I'm a comic-book-purist, and I can respect changing the suit for Spiderman, but I don't believe it's going to be a suit anybody remembers. The Ol' Red&Blue is the classic, and I always like going with the classic. I'll admit, there have been good suit changes, but I usually just like itty bitty alterations, per say, Sale's Batsuit against Bale's Batsuit (look, it rhymes!). I like difference in style. What I don't like, is new, crazy, power-up suits.

Heheh, even if they do make sense..

Why would he go back to the old suit?

with the new suit he beat a gould half pro Reg guys

The New suit is Bullet proof. Has stealth mode, and can hover.

Besides the new suit is Nano tech he could just make it look like the old suit.

Well, I know that he's not going to be going back to the old suit, since the new one has maaaaany more useful features. I'm just sayin', if I draw Spidey, it's gonna be in the classic outfit.

The best comment on Spidey's new costume I've read was in Dan Slott's The Thing. (I don't have the issue with me so I'll the basic idea)
Ben: So Spidey can I ask you a question?
Peter: As long as it's not about the arms.
Ben: ...
Peter: It's about the arms isn't it?
Ben: What's with the arms?
Peter: I dunno, Tony Stark thought it would look cool or something I guess
Ben: I'll give you ten bucks to make it go away.
Peter: Deal. *changes to classic costume*

I think he will go back to the old suit. It is just too much of a classic not to go back to.

I think he will go back to that suit too -for marketing purposes. I mean, new fans who were attracted by other Spidey media and have no idea what is going on in the Marvel Universe right now will take one look at this Spidey and go "WTF"

The suit would probably get destroyed or something.
