I only hate our trumpet section because of our first chair. he's pretty much a beginner, but he's pretty arrogent and never pays attention, partly because of his ADD(attention deficet disorder)(no I can't spell 'deficet')

You must remember the personality traits do not always go to every trumpeter.
My section leader freshman year was the most egotistical and lewd man around (And he loved to pelvic thrust) but he's really a sweetie.
Then again, the whole egotistical thing usually doesn't apply to the female trumpet players.
But yeah. Trumpeters kick a**. Most of them.

Oh, you rock... I don't like the trumpets in my orchestra, but thta's just coz I'm petty... One is really old... and the other is his son... And, they're not very friendly... Even though they sit like, right next to us (clarinets) coz there's almost no brass in our orchestra, they never talk to us. Plus they mess up the orchestra when they have the melody coz they're always late to rehearsals, so the MD gives half the clarinets the trumpet part and it just confuses all of us.... scream you really do...

__penguin__ +(Radical_Ire)+ Most of the time, trumpets are arrogant, loud, and sometimes sound downright nasty. 3nodding Eh-- I think its an ego thing. I in band, their playing is quite obnoxious, but if you were to just sit down and talk to one, they're (mostly) normal humans. (BTW, I'm a woodwind player)

trumpet kick brass!!!!
ive been playing for 6 years now
last year when i was a freshman i was the only freshman in the trumpet line. there were 9 of us so it made it perfectly even for all 3 parts (3 players to a part) and i was able to keep up with them because i practice religiously and i LOVE to play!!! and i was VERY dtermined! and we were AWESOME!!!!
then this year we lost 4 out of 9 of those because they were seniors and now we have gained 6 freshman ... who have no idea wut their doing... who screw around and never practice... where the only sound they make is a lot of discusting, out-of-tune, racket...... and they're dumber than a sack of diapers too... i hate them...
but i still love the trumpet!

Who in their right mind would think trumpets are annoying as the section leader of the trumpets at my middle school Im outraged. Trumpets are beautiful instruments that are the most important instrument in my band with out the trumpets we wouldnt have a brass section, yes we have a low brass but they suck, trumpets rock end of story Period.

Well, I play the trumpet and the other trumpeters aren't really arrogant, they just act like they are...most of the time it's pretty funny. But none of them are jerks, they are all really very kind.

Heh... the trumpets are right behind me, and as you said, you can hear every single mistake. It's quite annoying when they're continuously playing an E natural for the Ab scale...
But it's really easy for clarinets to have a really flat sound when they use the register key...

Have to argue a bit on the tone quality of playing for trumpet, it's not easy for oboes to sound good either. It's so easy for us to slide out of tune because just the slightest adjustment of our mouths will totally screw us over. A lot of oboists are sharp because they squeeze the wrong way on their reeds, other times the tone is tiny because the throat isn't open enough. The oboe is just like your voice and can go as out of tune as that xD
Anywho. Back to trumpet-hating. Referring to only trumpets in my own band because I know a lot of other people in other schools are extremely serious about their playing.
I don't particularly hate trumpets because I'm in pit and therefore never hang out with the band, but I know the reason why some people don't like trumpets is because they're so dang arrogant and think they're the best. Plus the majority of them are really perverted, almost as bad as the alto saxes. I really hate it when one section claims to be superior over all the rest. We all work just as hard, right? No one has the right to claim to be the best section in band.
Oh, and did I mention that they lack disclipline? Not that the rest of our band has much of it either.. our band isn't very healthy this year because there's a lot of drama going on between the leadership and our directors o_o
Hm.. and I guess another reason is because a lot of the trumpets in our bands don't practice much, so their tone quality isn't too good nor their note-hitting ability >< It actually lowered our score in CMEA because our lead trumpet couldn't hit all the high notes in his solos. I don't blame him though, because he really did try to practice, unlike some of the other people in our band ^^''

i have a friend that plays trumpet, and she is not an arrogant mess. she has the nicest tone out of the group, but ironicly she is afraid of it. actually the low brass is more egotistical. they are basically "trumpets", but displaced onto a trombone and a baritone and tenor sax.

I love the trumpet. Couldn't play it to save my life, though. When it's played well it has such a beautiful sound. *Goes off to find the CD with all the trumpet music on it..*
