Lord Thatlatu of the Tofu
I didn't start reading until I was 7.

I was more a a math/language type of kid.

I had an 8000-word vocabulary and a detailed understanding of Algebra by the age of 4. . .

But they held me back for being too young as well.
Even though I tested at the 9th grade level for math and language.

How could you have an 8000-word vocabulary and a detailed understanding of Algebra before you could even read?

This, Lattu, is something I highly doubt

Hell, I don't even have an 8000 word vocab relating to algebra, much less a detailed understanding of it, and I'm 19 years old....Math never was my strong point...I'm more of a writer/english/anything BUT Math and most phsycial activity person. I had a 12th grade reading level in the 4th grade at the latest, that's when they started testing me for advancement, if not for the 'introversion issues' or the learning disorders, I'd have skipped grades, but had help in math.

Wait, so, in what way were you "too introverted?"

I still don't get that

Anyway

I've been testing PHS (post high-school) on the Stanford 9s since I-dunno-which-grade

I've never skipped a grade, though, and never really wanted to
PostPosted: Sat Jul 08, 2006 8:32 pm

too introverted ment I lacked certain social skills, and I didn't like ot be around other kids, and tended to be violent when pissed off...sounds like I've not changed much. biggrin

This, Lattu, is something I highly doubt
Because I was the son of a geek and a bigger geek and Algebra is easy.
That's how.
I didn't know any real formulas or anything, I just knew a lot of the basic s**t.
A LOT OF IT.
As in more than most of you probably know now.

My vocabulary these days is between 60000 and 80000. . . confused
I did mention that I learned to play Scrabble and Boggle prior to learning to read, didn't I?
'cause that's part of it.

Nope, you just need to know how to spell.
Reading involves some form of comprehension.
I could do s**t, but my Asperger's kept me from being able to fully comprehend anything consciously until I was 8. xp

Well, comprehension is what's important, usually

Just like those kids who memorize the spelling books to win spelling books can't actually do anything worth s**t

If you can win a spelling bee without studying, THEN you're good

See, I never study for spelling bees, and yet I have won the school spelling bee every year except this year, cause this overachiever 6th grader who memorized the book thing won

I hate him so

mad

I still hate him though

As well as feel sorry for him

He's gonna be a doctor or lawyer because he has to, not because he wants to

And he'll probably never have any fun in his life

Yeah, cause those are apparently the only careers that are successful

That's why I hate parents who are too pushy on their children

I'LL BE A STARVING ARTIST IF I WANT TO, DAMMIT!

Well, I don't really want to

I'd rather be in the middle class :3
