Also, have you seen the new line of les pauls designed for the ladies? i think its called the vixen, its lighter and slightly smaller.

Tough question. I've always liked the SG, but the Les Paul is pretty sweet...

i'd go with the SG. i have both a SG special and les paul special, and i've always liked the sound of the SG better. and it's waaaaaaaaaaaay lighter

I say Les Paul.
I've never liked how the SG looks.

Also, the Les Paul has that tone...causes of the mahogany body and maple top.
I play anything from Hendrix-Zeppelin-Metallica-Protest the Hero....and the LP delivers. (I have not the same experience with any SG)

True, the LP is classy, but it depends on which one and what finish you get. But either way, you get both classy and"dirty" looks, and great sound.

I got used to the wieght in like, a month.

i would say the les paul, bu just because some of my favorite guitarest play them. Zakk Wylde, dimebag, jimmy page, and others. you want a heavy guitar, play the double neck sg, its huge and heavy. never played a sg, so i would buy the les paul.
