Kelso In the manga when Darien shoves his ID card in Bunny's face it says Darien Shields Azabu High School 11th grade so he started out in high school. probably 17 or 18. so yeaaaaaah. idk. *reference: sailor moon pocket mixx. book one. page 96 Plus she has a point ^ Mamoru and Usagi started dating there was a three year difference between them. There for, it's even acceptable over here. But since they made him Twenty over here in America (Anime Wise) And she was still fourteen- There for he would've been arrested for child molestation and ect. *raises brow* Does anyone besides me find that amazingly funny?

The anime is a bit different because they never state an age or that he is in high school. The only reference to that is in Stars when he goes away to study at an American college (Did they ever mention which one?) So he'd be about 20-21, if you go by the fact that he's 4-5 years older than Usagi (who is approx. 16 [she may be 15, they never state whether her birthday has passed or not]). ~Alechsa~ Remember how poor Usagi got study books for her 15th birthday? Solar Kitty-chan ~Alechsa~ Remember how poor Usagi got study books for her 15th birthday? That is actually a common ocurrance for kids with summer birthdays who will enter High School in August. That's right, I said August. Japan city schools usually start early and exit late. I thought they started school in April? At least, that's what I read. I could be mistaken, but I like to think my source is reliable (Gina from Bunny's Tour Through the Silver Millennium) Why would they start in April if they're off school entirely throughout Summer? S took place between 4th year Junior High and 1st year High School, and Usagi's birthday was during it.. remember the Daimon in the shoe? sweatdrop Oh, and they mention that Mamoru is going to Harvard. Apparently he's damn smart to have gotten a scholarship, or his family was rich and when he graduated he got all that money.

just take the harry potter characters for example... there's LOTS of stuff out there but since it isn't real people...

See, when I was a kid watching a show, I never thought much about the age gap. When I hit high school, I was 14, dating an 18 year old, so the age gap between Usagi and Mamoru didn't strike me as bad then either.
The sex part never bothered me, its the depth of their love that always throws me. Of course I can be kind of a cynic about such things at times. stare

They have it split into three terms, I believe, with a vacation between each term. Plus, they were still in school during S. Remember, Haruka and Michiru were under cover at Mugen Gakuen? And the episode where Yuuichirou is targeted, Rei is returning to the shrine in her school fuku.

I can not imagine making it in a school in Japan... I remember when I was in my 3rd year of Japanese in high school my teacher told us we had the basic knowledge of a 2nd grader there... that made us feel so cool. stare

I never payed attention to the age thing when I watched sailor moon. It would be kind of weird to think that Mamoru in the anime is 4or 5 years older, but if they loved eachother, that is all that matters. That stuff does not affect me too much.

Personally, five years is not a big deal. The guy I like is five years older than me and no one thinks it's odd. Sure, maybe a 14 year old and a 19 year old may look bad to some people but it could be worse, ne? Like.. falling for someone 12 years older than you.
