I think you're right about it having to do with how often you're in towns... I just went to towns with Pumpkin after not being there for a long time, and I'm getting gold from every single tree, bush and rock.

That's what I thought too but I haven't been to the towns on any account for quite some time. Oh well, that would make sense. I do usually only visit on my main.

Here's something interesting I noticed. I ran into another girl in an acre just now, we waved hi, and then continued running around the acre shaking trees. She shook a tree just after I did and she received 1g from it while I received nothing. I don't think the trees "grow" gold over time, but rather there's a set chance for your user of finding gold on trees every so often, kind of like the bugs and how they decrease in frequency the longer you're in towns, but seem to reset every day or after a certain amount of time (like poll-taking gold for those with less than 1000 posts.) The bugs each user sees are different for them. I'd see people catching bugs I never saw, and people weren't catching my bugs, but trash and flowers are the same for everybody and you have to fight over those. wink
I never go to acres in the first 1000 lot you see from the train station. Too many people. Any of the other lands seem good. I usually start at a purkle neighborhood (which I have set as a favorite) and then go from there til I hit an edge.

there really doesn't seem to be that many bugs now, apart from in the very first square i visit.
as it's blue that i mainly need to find i try to hunt when it's dark, but it's SO dark in towns at night now gonk it's actually very hard to see the bugs, so i have to give up, but i end up collecting a load of red(i have 6 bottles of red ink now) as red bugs are everywhere at dawn and dusk.
does anyone have a bottle of blue that they'd trade for a bottle of red?

Have you tried messing with your monitor settings to see if you can see the bugs better at night?

I wonder, does anybody have a link directly to the durem fishing SWF kind like the towns and word bump links we have here which sometimes load when clicking the other way doesn't? I'm having troubles getting fishing to load after I pick a room to join.

well i'm discovering that there isn't much in towns for anyone anymore really cry where as each square used to have a lot of bugs, for a long time, a lot don't have any now. Whether this is a decision of the admins who knows? if it is it's a little mean with these lenses on the horizon. i know bugs used to disappear for you after a while, then you's switch accounts and there'd be loads again, but that trick doesn't accomplish much any more rolleyes
lol, i suppose what it is is nature at work actually, we keep catching the bugs so they can't breed lol which is all well and good, but it doesn't help me to recoup my losses from ink purchases rolleyes dawn and dusk still seems to have the most insects, but you do end up with a glut of red then..

I'm having troubles getting fishing to load after I pick a room to join. hmm, i don't suppose it would work with fishing, because if you linked after the room had loaded it would take you to that room, and i'm presuming that the rooms are deleted after a while of being empty, or the room list would be monsterous. it's certainly worth a try though, because wouldn't it be nice if we could keep a pier to ourselves all the time that we could always access? hmm, i'm going to give it a try right now!

ooh, i've caught 6 guppies! i'm getting the hang of this now!
i see you need to move the mouse more than i'd initially dared lol so i give the rod a yank and then scoot the other way a little to counteract to pull and try and keep the float in the centre, i may be heading for my first full bucket blaugh
and i've found a lovely little spot for myself, over the other side of the lake under a tree, i really like the fact that you can move around the lake's edge because it's so pretty! and night fishing looks great too because of the stars 3nodding

I see this links to Bassken Lake and lets me choose a room. I don't suppose you're on there currently with a room, and I want to save my 2 or 3 times of fishing today for the Port of Gambino (for pink seedkin!) 4laugh And MysticfawN fishes at Durem. I'd like to pick myself an avi who fishes at Bassken just so I can get some of the bigger fish there, but I can't decide who should fish there! I bought myself a Strength Rod Plus on here yesterday for 10k and now have an extra Strength Rod to send to my Bassken fisher. Who should I fish with there?

I gave up on fishing. I just can't get the hang of it at all. Apparently, there is a better place to fish for beginners but maybe I don't have the right bait or rod.

WickedLemon I gave up on fishing. I just can't get the hang of it at all. Apparently, there is a better place to fish for beginners but maybe I don't have the right bait or rod. Bassken Lake is the easiest. The basic fishing rod and F bait are fine to use. I remember you said the fish would always go left, which it would if you were keeping your mouse-pointer in the dead center of the red lines, but the "middle" is actually the imaginary line drawn up from the crack in the boards, which I think is closer to the right-most line, and then you pull left and right in equal amounts of that line. I'm not sure that made sense. I know it takes a lot of practice to get the hang of though!
