It did indeed not go as planned. Jean had hoped that she wouldn't notice. He was wrong, which would not please his master at the moment. Nevertheless, he would continue fighting.

When Javelin would thrust the broken blade, it would give Jean the chance to react. She had given him the proper force needed. He would pull his right hand back, and hard. With the daggertail wrapped around the busted sword, and the combination of his force as well as his opponent's, he would proceed to rip the blade out of her hand and would toss it far back with the daggertail. Once it would land, a lava geyser would spew out below it, disentigrating it in the heat...

With the blade gone, Javelin would only be left with one blade. With this, Jean would slash the daggertail at her vertically down her body, from head to toe. Even though she was standing on a platform, this would not be a problem. As Jean would stand in at around 7 feet, and the daggertail itself being quite a few feet long, it would easily be possible. Javelin could defend from it the way she did the other slash, but she probably did not want to risk her other blade being lost in the process, leaving her defenseless save for her earth manipulation, which could easily be countered.

"Oh!" She could tell that he felt himself to be awfully clever. She caught his whipping weapon with her long dagger. "Oh, but now I've only one weapon left!" She was being a ham, in all honesty, and even set the back of her hand to her forehead like a distressed maiden. "What's a girl to do when there's only one knife in her hand?"

"Wait, though..." She suddenly perked up, acting over and done with. "I almost forgot." Reaching to the hip opposite of her first dagger's origin, she pulled another one free from its hiding place. "I carry two of these, usually." She grinned down at him, from what little height she had on this perch. "And you thought you had me, didn't you?"

She reached up quickly, bracing her newly-unleased dagger against the place where the previous blade was caught up in his dagger-tail. Yanking both ways, she released her own weapon from his, hopping down from the pillar. "I don't guess I'll be trying that again for now, though. Learned my lesson, I suppose."

Lordy, he was so uptight. "Relax, though. Let's just do this." She resumed a fighter's stance once more.

"Hmmph..."

So, she would break free. No matter to Jean. A second blade would not do much against him. In fact, this could indeed give him a chance to disable her once and for all. However, it would take a little time in order to do so. First thing would be to distract her, and then conjure the flesh...well, he should correct that. No conjuring would have to be done whatsoever.

As she stepped down and took a stance, a glowing ball would appear by his free hand. It would be unclear about what it would be immediately for. She'd have to find out on her own, as he took his own stance, waiting to counter whatever she had for him...

She really only rolled her eyes. For being such a tough-guy, he sure didn't move much. To be honest, she didn't quite know the best path to take at the moment. He was large enough to make hand-to-hand a little difficult, and when one added in the fact that he wore armor...

"You're so afraid to take a hit." She cocked a smile, looking at him in a seemingly careless manner. She didn't fail to notice his glowy-hand-thing, though. "Nothing but an over-glorified nancy-boy..."

She didn't know what the glowy-thing was, and she figured it would be best to hold off on simply lunging at the guy. "Even if I lose, at least I fought. I bled. You're nothing but lame tricks, a lot of people here are." She was still standing properly. "This is hardly a fighting tournament at all. Hardly anyone's doing any actual fighting."

She'd just wait...

"If one can find a way to not take a hit..."

The ball, now much larger, would let forth itself as what appeared to be a beam of light, straight towards Javelin. However, it was not light, but concentrated fire, as it was not straight. The area around the beam would be exposed to a massive amount of heat. Jean himself would get scalded as well, but nothing too severe.

"then there is no reason to take one."

The air around the glowy-thing fluxed, much like the heated illusion around heated pavement or a campfire. Whatever its aim, it was hot. Well, actually, the aim was clear enough. Soon, the glow was headed straight for her and, taking his words to heart and packing up her training in gymnastics, she dove quickly to the side, erecting a messy stone wall from the ground to duck behind, curved as to bend the oncoming heat.

She'd been fast enough to avoid permanent damage. In fact, the only thing harmed on her person were her boots. They must've been hit during the dive, a shame really. Her soles were starting to melt, and one of her shoe-laces had caught fire. She moved her knife in her hand, licking her fore-finger and pinching her lace to put it out.

When she thought it was safe, she came back out from behind her self-made wall, smiling a little sheepishly. "I guess I'll have to agree with you on that one." Her smile widened, and she readied her stance once more. "It's nice to know that you can talk." His skin looked a little pinkened, "Touch the stove, did you? Self-inflicted? You suicidal?"

She grinned, having more verbal fun than what was called for. "There's a hotline for that, you know."

"Grrr...I came here to fight, not to chat. If you wish to fight, then make your move. Your talk will do nothing more." He would pull back his right hand, as if to get the daggertail ready to strike..

"I don't know." Her smile had a sly tone to it now, "It might do something eventually."

But, she had to make a move sooner or later, 'cause it was obvious he wasn't going to. She started forward a few steps before breaking into a sudden dash, curving around him in an odd arc. As she ran, her hand tucked into on of her sleeves, drawing out one of the small throwing knives that lay concealed there.

Her arc was tightening quickly as she threw the knife at his neck. Her aim was good, and thus she carried the small knives, but that wasn't entirely the point. It wasn't really smart to ignore a knife going for your neck, and that was the point. It offered a distraction so that she could make a far less lethal mood.

She dashed by him near-after the knife, bringing both arms to one side to slash at one of his exposed thighs, and kept right on running after that, gaining safe distance once more.

Jean would keep turning his head and, if necessary, his body in order to spy her movement. As she would throw the knife, Jean would squat his entire body down. If he would've merely bent his head down, he would've lost track of her for a bit, as he would end up staring at the ground. By squatting, her position could still be tracked.

As soon as she would come in range of the daggertail, since she'd have to eventually, Jean's right arm would fling forward as he would pivot his body to accel the blade as much as possible. He'd aim for the back; too high to jump, and too low to duck without risking manuverability and potentially giving yourself up for a free hit. If she would manage to block the hit with her blades again, he'd immediately pull back in hopes to get rid of it and burn it up like the rapier. Of course, she may pull back in the end...

((Much later than I'd expected. Sorry about it all.))

She barely caught the blade coming at her back from the edge of her vision. Letting out a sound akin to "Yipe!" she immediately fell forward on purpose, digging herself something like a small ditch to catch her fall and make sure that she fell well out of harm's way.

The Earth lurched again, and she popped up turning oddly in the air before landing once more. With a sort of pout on her face, she shifted her knives in her hands and dug into the cuffs of her books, taking up a throwing knife in each hand and throwing them each rabidly; they were both targeted at his thighs.

Upon popping out of the air, Jean would observe her direction carefully. Once he had a good idea on where she was going, which wouldn't take long at all, he'd swiftly switch the daggertail position to the projected landing spot, and would give a heavy "fling" upwards towards Javelin. His aim? Hit her hard in the front in hopes to do a little damage and knock her down.

Oh, and Jean would move out of the way of course. Didn't wanna get hit by a falling body.
