"Wait a second," Aiden hissed, "You wouldn't dare use that against me just to get one of your children thrust off on me." It was a statement, and a damned horrified one. His past was his past alone - and something he had tried very hard to cover up.
The words on the other end of the phone made him seethe slightly but he nodded his head, "I'll be there in the morning then, sir."
Normally cool and calm, Aiden looked as though he were going to pitch a fit. What he did that made him quit the Force was his own business and nobody elses. The only other person what would have somewhat mattered was dead and gone.
So it didn't matter anymore. If it didn't matter, why was he worried about people finding out? Aiden was about to put his fist through the wall when a small voice snapped him out of his anger.
"Daddy?"
Khalindra. Okay. New set of problems.
"Yes, Princess?" he asked the blonde child who came out of her bedroom and who made a beeline for his leg to cling to. Aiden picked her up.
"Is something wrong?"
"No, baby, nothing's wrong." He had never lied to his child before, "Go back to bed. I have some place to go tomorrow so you'll be staying with Mrs. Green, okay?"
Khalindra pursed her lips. Stay with Mrs. Green? She wanted to go with her father! The Tale was about to protest when she saw the weary look on her father's face and sighed, nodding her tiny head. The things she gave up for her daddy!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Mr. Perry?" A voice called as he walked up to the desk. A very unhappy looking Aiden nodded his head, signed in, and moved to sit down in the waiting area. Why was he here again?
Oh. Right. Blackmail. The thought of it made him seethe but it was short lived. His entire WAIT was short lived as a tech entered the room and called out his name.
Reluctantly, Aiden stood up and moved toward him, "So. I'm getting a kid?"
"It seems so, Mr. Perry. Follow me, please."
He was lead into a room that looked pretty comfortable, if not small. There was a desk with a computer, and a soft looking couch. Obviously, that was where the Tech wanted him to sit.
"I'd rather stand, thank you," Aiden managed through clenched teeth. This was not a hospitable situation and thus he would not act as though it were. The Tech didn't seem too bothered by the fact and simply sat down at the desk, typing a few things into the computer to bring up Aiden's files.
"So, Mr. Perry, I'm guessing you've come to agree to our terms, then?" The tech asked as he typed in the final few things he needed to. Aiden simply glared.
"Do I have any other choice? What exactly is this information, though, before I sign anything."
The tech turned to look at him, a hint of amusement in his eyes, "Mr. Perry, we are aware of your work at the Gaian Police Force. We're also aware that it was your lover who..."
Aiden paled as he listened to the Tech go into great detail. He had done such a good job in covering it all up! Or, at least, he thought he had. Finding he needed to sit down, the med student sank down into the couch and cradled his head in his hands.
If that got out, he would be ruined. Completely.
"Just give me the damn papers," he murmured hoarsely.
"I thought you'd change your tune, Mr. Perry. I'll go get your daughter now."
She was sleeping when she was brought out, white hair half hiding her little face and offering a small bit of protection from Aiden's staring. But that wasn't odd. The black mark over her nose and cheeks and the fact she had feathers was odd, though. What WAS she?
"She's...urm...Very pretty," Aiden offered as he eyed the child. She was, indeed, pretty. He just had no idea what she was.
"She is," the tech agreed, handing the child over to him, "Swan DNA makes for pretty little girls. In any case, she'll need a name and I'll need you to sign some papers."
"I want your assurance that this will never get out, in writing, and signed with blood," Aiden said levelly as he looked at the sleeping girl in his arms. Did she have a name? Did she even know anything about why he was taking her?
She would never know. Never.
The tech agreed, and, forgetting his initial apprehension, Aiden signed the papers.
And sat down for the long explanation of who and what D-corp was.

It was reletively late by the time Aiden finally arrived home, the new child - Emi - in his arms. He knew that Khalindra would be up. She always WAS up this time of night despite his best efforts to get her to actually sleep.
The door was opened with some difficulty and Mrs. Green was paid, thanked, and sent out the door before Aiden was able to set down the half-asleep Swan child onto the couch and call Khalindra out of her room.
"Yes, daddy?" Khalindra asked as she stepped out, a picture book firmly in her arms. She stopped short, however, when she saw the little girl laying on the couch and a very defined frown touched her face, "What is THAT?"
Aiden blinked, "That, my Princess, is your new sister."
"No."
No? Did she just say no? No, "No, thank you." or "No, that can't be!" but a simple "No."
That did not work. Did she honestly think that she was completely the boss here? Of course, she did. Aiden gave her everything she wanted, "Yes, I'm afraid so," he said tersely, crossing his arms over his chest, "And there's nothing you can do about it."
Silvery eyes narrowed at her father and the book was dropped with a small thud to the floor. Did he just disagree with her? Didn't he always give her what she wanted? Well she wanted him all to herself! She didn't WANT a sister! He had to take her back!
"I don't want a sister," she said as if it were the simplest thing in the world. A sister would mean sharing.
"I'm afraid you have a sister in any case. And look, she's waking up." He'd yet to name the little girl, either. He had told the Tech he'd let them know the name in the morning.
He had been too overwhelmed to name her.
The unnamed child opened her brown eyes and looked around, one small fist raising to rub the sleep out of her eyes. Where was she? This wasn't D-corp. Where were the technicians? Who was that? Doing the only thing she could think of, the swan started to cry.
"She's leaking!"
"She's crying," Aiden corrected, moving to sit beside the little girl and pull her into his lap, "Why're you crying, sweetheart?"
Fear gripped the child and she wiggled around, wanting desperately to get away from the bigger man. She had been kidnapped! KIDNAPPED! A louder wail errupted and she tried desperately to get out of his arms.
"Shhh, sweetheart, I'm your daddy."
...Daddy? The girl calmed down considerably and looked up at the blonde haired young man. He didn't look like her- but the Techs said that she was going to have a daddy. Now she remembered! This was him? "Daddy?" she asked, voice just above a whisper.
"Yes, Daddy. Do you have a name?"
The little girl shook her head.
"A name that you like?"
Yet another shake of the head. This wasn't going to be easy on the med student. He couldn't spend an entire evening with his new daughter calling her 'Hey You' could he?
"Emi, then," he murmured, taking the first name that came to mind. Not Emily, Emi. The smile on the little girl's face showed that he had chosen correctly and the little arms went around his neck in a hug.
Khalindra scowled, "I guess I'll be sharing my room?"
s**t. He hadn't thought of that. Nodding his head dumbly, Aiden set down Emi and looked to Khalindra, "Yeah, you will. And your bed, for tonight. Tomorrow, we'll redecorate and get Emi her own things. And you? You better behave."
"Kay."
That was far too easy, "Behave like *I* would expect you to behave."
Another scowl, "But daddy."
"Khalindra...."
"Fine. Come on, Emi," she muttered, dragging the young girl into the bedroom. If she had to have a sister, at least this one was quiet.

Dear Forsaken Journal,
I decided to keep you when I got Khalindra and now I have another child. A child, may I add, that I hadn't expected on getting. It wasn't as if...Well, as if it was a BAD thing. Alex will kill me, I'm sure, but at least for now Khalindra hasn't tried to kill her and they've peacefully agreed to share the room.
Or, rather, I had to bribe Khalindra with a new book to get her not to eat the poor swan child. A...D-corp child.
God, I'm still confused about that. They must have found me through my working with the police force or by my being enrolled in Med School because I've never heard of them before this.
Ah, well. Emi is...Quiet. Quiet is an understatement, really. She barely talks at all unless it's to say thank you or excuse me. Polite child. A giant contrast to her elder sister.
And a great relief to me. I would have gone insane if I got another Khalindra, as much as I love her.
I wasn't cut out to be a father.

Keivlos PD: In Progress
All day Keivlos had been irritating Madeline, she could barely stand it. Why, why did she have to be stuck with this accursed devil child when his brother should be so....ah, sometimes life was unfair. Yet, even if it was and she was stuck with Keivlos, she would love him no matter what. It was just...sometimes he got on her nerves it was times like these when a trip out doors was in order. He could run outside easier than he could inside, besides it gave Madeline sometime to sit down and calm her nerves. It had been harder and harder lately to keep herself from losing her temper.
They hadn't gone to the park like usual today though, Madeline felt that the calming visuals of the nearbye lake would be much more soothing for her pounding migrane. Keivlos shileded his eyes as they walked along the edge of the shore. "Setting shiny hurts...." he bemoaned hissing and looking up into Madeline's eyes. The blonde nodded and continued to walk, "Ma--madeline why..why cant's I thouch the setting shiny?" Keivlos was curious, he had tried many times before to grab the sun. It was so beautiful and eye catching, yet no matter how he tried, he could never hold it...at least not for long.
"Because...the son is very far away." She replied with a weary smile, "Now no more questions..." She pushed the little boy foreward. "Go run around and loose that energy of yours, so you can go to bed tonight." At these words Keivlos gave Madeline a terrified look. "Sleep! Keivie no sleep!" He grabbed at her hand and then tossed it aside and ran away screaming in a high pitched shreik, much like an animal.
...And so he was gone, Madeline let out a relieved breath as she sat down.
"Sun. Hurts. Make it go away, Daddy!" Khalindra was whining softly as she tugged on his lab coat. He had just gotten out of classes and picked his two girls up from the neighbor that he had employed to babysit them. Now, it was his time with them and he was taking them to the park. The glorious park to let Khalindra run wild.
...It wouldn't work if she wouldn't stop clinging to him.
"The sun will go down soon darling," he murmured from over Emi's head. The swan child, who was on a normal sleep schedual, had her head resting just below his chin, her honey-brown eyes half lidded and sleepy.
"Make it go down NOW."
"I can't, darling," he answered wearily, setting Emi down on the ground and picking Khali up, "You can walk, right sweetheart?"
"Uh huh," Emi answered, her delicate wings fluttering slightly as she looked around the park. jumping at the shriek, "WHASSAT?!"
Keivlos came skidding to a hualt as he spotted the trio walking along. At first he wasn't sure what to do, so he scrambled back into the bushes, much as an animal would do when seeking shelter from preditors. The p***y willows were tall and cool and sheltered Keivlos from the prying eyes the the world, from those looking for him, seeking. However in turn, the bushes also allowed him to look, watch, see, taste from a distance...smell the scent of others.
Slowly he crept to the edge of the lean tuby willows, one red eye peered through, he couldn't quite see so well out of the gray one, his right. What he saw, froze him. What...what was that thing in that man's arms. It was...Keivlos couldn't describe her. Yes, it was a girl, he could tell that. It looked so ...delicate so pure so...he had never seen anything with such an absense of color and it both startled and fascinated him.
Slowly he poked his head out of the under brush. For Keivlos the world had ceased to exist. Tunnel vision was his ruler now and the focus of his desire, Emi. All he could do was barely breath under those thick cotton clothes of his. With out his awareness he dug his nails into the dirt and lifted his wings slightly.
....So....pretty.
Aiden lifted his head slightly and looked around, "Iunno, little girl, want to go check it out?"
Khali dug her head into his shoulder, "Makethesunstopplease."
The man chuckled and stroked at his daughter's head as he looked at the delicate swan look rather curiously around her. The young girl nodded her head and slipped away from her daddy, summoning what courage she could, she made her way towards the bushes, "Hello?" she asked softly, eyes wide and half frightened. She wasn't used to being so far from her Knight in Shining Armor, and Khali was in his arms so she couldn't run back to them.
She may as well finish what she started, right? "Please say something if you're there?" Her voice was barely above a whisper and came out like more of a nervous squeak than anything else.
Keivlos stood there in shock, it was...speaking. What was that noise coming forth from between its parted lips? He couldn't quite place it, there is no way to describe the sound of the human voice. A voice is truly what makes a person you see, those vibrating notes at which the frequate. An Emi's voice had such a beautiful tone, soft barely audible, yet never quiet...it rang but died before it became an watery echo.
The raved tried to swallow, but it was no good. Up and down his chest heaved as he watched her from the bushes, she kept calling....Keivlos knew well enough what she wanted but could he dare bring himself. So pretty...but pretty hurt, pretty brought pain. An unfortunate association Keivlos had made in his short time living with Madline. His hand swung up and wiped away a small drabble of sylavia from the corner of his mouth.
With that he moved out of the bushes. No, he didn't do it quickly. Rather it was a slow, ever so cautious motion. He had to keep his eyes on her, he had to cause if he didn't she would....she would dissapear. Something so pretty couldn't be real could it...something so. Keivlos moved out of the bushes inching closer and closer to Emi.
Emi got slightly annoyed when the source of the noise refused to reveal itself. Giving a soft whimper, Emi sat herself down on the grass, staring at the bushes. Her shoulder length white hair fell over her face, hiding her eyes as she sat there, feathers arms crossed over her chest and her white dress fluttering around her, "Please?" she asked again, her voice taking on a slight pleading tone.
Emi may have been one of the most shy people in the world, but she was also very stubborn. She had to be, with Khalindra as her sister. She'd sit there until the thing showed itself. Little did she know, she was being stalked by that very thing.
Keivlos now poked his head out of the brush. Emi could see him now, like it...or not. His look was anything like his brothers, yes he and Revon may have shared the same face, the same clothes, the same body, yet when you put them side by side you wouldn't have known they were twins.
Revon was always so shy quiet, yet in a bouncy cute sort of way. If Keivlos was quiet it was because something was up. Something was not allright in the world, or perhpas it was just not right in his mind. His hair and feathers on his head and back were slightly afray, as they usually were. Dark circles under his eyes from lack of sleep at his age. Truly frightening, and yet not so, for as he approached Emi his face was filled with a soft awe and curious wonder, prehaps even a bit of fear.
What was that thing he was supposed to say when he met someone knew "P--pretty....." He managed to mumble under his breath. No! That wasn't it...oh well he had never been one to listen, said what he felt like.
"Revon?" she asked, raising a delicate brow as the young boy came into view. Then she noticed one of his eyes was slightly lighter than..."You stole Revon's face?" she asked, eyes widening slightly as she looked at him, reaching out to touch him shyly. The little swan looked genuinely surprised at the similarities between Revon #1 and Revon #2. Both were dark, both wore the same kind of clothes...
"Emi, honey, are you okay?"
Her head lifted and looked in the direction of her father, "Uhuh!" before turning her attention back to the raven boy.
Suddenly the confused and delighted stupor Keivlos was in faded. The unreastic reality of his foolsih fantasies was shatered by Emi's gentel and delicate touch. Oh god the pretty it was touching him...and pretty...pretty caused pain. Keivlos's instant reaction was to flinch preparing for the searing cutting pain that would soon shoot through his vains. An yet, as he hands remained there...he surprisngly felt nothing.
Keivlos didn't realize it but he was panting frantically, instinctivly his body thought he would be recieving pain so he was terrified. Even if mental he was calm now, his body and the adreniline pumping through it sent him shaking and gasping. Suddenly the raven acted out in an estatic manner. " I NO STOLE IT---!" he pulled away from Emi quickly.
"Is my face...." he said as he scooted back a couple of feet. A quavering voice matched equally quavering eyes. Never did his eyes leave Emi though.
Emi blinked at the young raven's reaction and drew her hand away quickly, eyes prickling with startled tears. She hadn't been expecting that reaction from the little boy, and she was certainly not expecting to be yelled at. Giving a whimper, Emi immediately pulled her knees to her chest and managed to stammer out, "S..s...s...sorry..."
Right about now, she wanted to go and run behind her father, but taking a quick look, she noticed he was busy playing with her elder sister. Instead she turned her attention back to Keivlos, whimpering, "Pretty face. Just.....look like Revon..."
The reaction from Keivlos was immediate. Where once had been fear, excitment, and curiosity was now filled with ...well, still curiosity but also some annoyance, a little empathy too. Prehaps not so much annoyance as when his brother began to tear but still it was certainly enough to get him a little annoyed.
Yet, pretty thing had only acted this way after he had made that very, very loud noise with his voice. He didn't want it to leave, prehaps he should not do it again. With a sigh the raven leaned out and scooted up to Emi so that he was sitting infront of her on his knees. "It's leaking." He said it, as if it were a fact.
He moved into Emi, and stuck out his tongue licking a tear away fromt he side of her face. "It leaks salty stuff just like Revon...." He frowned. Leaking was never a good thing, but how could he stop her. She had called him pretty, no good, no good at all. Pretty caused pain. He would hurt her...he didn't want that.

Dear Forsaken Journal,
Things have settled down. With the arrival of the new twins, Emi now has other children to talk to besides Khalindra and those two raven boys that we met.
Not that they're bad children. Revon is actually pretty nice when you can get past his shy stuttering. His brother, however, fightens both Emi and myself. Of course Emi won't admit to it and is quite polite to him and will sit there and talk to him but...I think she's afraid he'll do something to her if she doesn't. He's a little on the crazy side.
Her hair's grown a bit longer and hasn't straightened out at all like Khalindra's has and she's taken to carrying around this little white ballerina bear that I bought for her. She clings to it and it's adorable.
Emi's still quiet as ever, though. I'm not sure if it's right for her to be, as much as I enjoy the quiet, but she is a mute swan. At least she can speak, you know?
In any case, I really should be studying for my Medical exam coming up now that all the little ones are actually asleep.
-Aiden

//Play Date: Emi & Etain
It was morning and Aiden had woken himself up especially early for Emi. He had promised her some one on one time finding shells at the beach and he knew that early morning, before the sun was too high, was the best time. High tide would have just gone out, leaving whole sand dollars and other various shells scattered along the wet sand. The young girl was dressed in a pale pink sundress and a white sweater, feet in a pair of white and purple jelly sandals. It wasn't the fashion statement of the year but it was just warm enough to coincide with her soft downy feathers.
"Daddy, look!" she exclaimed in a rare squeal of delight as she picked up a sand dollar the size of her palm, "It's not broken!"
Aiden pulled his coat further around him, trotting up to the girl who had gone ahead a few paces, "Very good job, Emi," he answered, reaching down to ruffle her soft white hair. The girl ducked slightly and giggled before handing the prize to her father.
It was rare that she got to spend time with Aiden without the twins or Khalindra tagging along and she adored it. He was her knight in shining armor, after all!
"Come on, let's find more!" Emi called, rushing ahead of him. Aiden had no choice but to follow.
The salt air stung at his eyes so early in the morning. Etain kept them squint tight, pausing to breathe in the sharp smell of it all before he was halfway down the path to the beach. Behind him, Tovar was dredging a bag stuffed with towels and a fold out chair. They'd been planning the trip for a day or two, and Etain was looking forward to it - despite the fact that he had little idea of exactly what a beach was. He'd seen pictures in books, and Tovar had tried to explain it, but... He hadn't been aware the air really did smell salty, or like the fish in market before Tovar took them home and washed them in the warm water of the sink, scales shining like little gray green treasures.
Blinking his eyes blearily, Etain drifted farther down the path and up over the hump of pale colored sand and stringy weeds. He couldn't look at the water directly, the way the sun glinted and shone off the surface, but he was aware of it - the fact that it stretched on and on out so he couldn't see the other side. He quickly abandoned Tovar in favor of flying down to the water's edge, tail flicking back and forth excitedly.
Emi, being sufficiantly ahead of her father, was able to see Etain race down the beach and to the water. Walking now was easy since the sand was wet and compacted. She liked it that way rather than the rough, dry sand sticking into her feathers and making it hard to walk. It was because of this that the young child was able to make her way over to Etain with little problem other than dodging a washed up jelly fish.
She was a few feet away when she suddenly debated saying something to the boy. He was a pretty white, like her. Maybe that would make things easier? Revon and Keivlos had been dark...and scary. Well, Keivlos more than Revon...
Quickly deciding that it was time for her to make friends despite her shyness, Emi spoke softly, "H..hello!"
The water was cold, Etain realized with a start as he splashed into it. He hadn't been expecting that much, and immediately scrambled back onto the sand out of the lapping water's reach. Maybe all water not in his bathtub or in the kitchen sink was cold, he formulated. The water in the creekbed by the house was cold, too - but it smelled differently. He was so caught up the the speculation and trying to keep the water off his toes and sandals, that for a time he didn't realize someone was coming up near to him. When Emi spoke, he twitched around suddenly and sharply, both ears snapping forward to the pale little girl.
"Hi," he blurted out. Sublety and ettiquette in light of surprise was not one of Etain's strong points.
Emi jumped back half startled by the sudden greeting...and fell back on her rear, smooshing her tail feathers. Thankfully, it wasn't too painful, and she simply winced. Her small wings gave a few flutters to brush sand off her body before she dragged herself back up and smoothed out her dress. There. That was better. Would he be so sudden in his next words? She certainly hoped not, but at least she could brace herself.
"I'm Emi."
Oops, Etain thought numbly as he watched the girl cauterwalt backward and down into the sand. He really hadn't meant to surprise her - maybe he shouldn't have been so abrupt. "Er," he said. He was picking up bad habits from Tovar. Before he thought to offer her a hand up, the little girl was already clambering to her feet and brushing herself off, straightening her dress.
"I'm Etain," he offered, pitching his voice low and slow in an attempt to keep from surprising her. It was like talking to a baby rabbit, he thought. Or the bird Michael kept in his room. It didn't like loud noises, and maybe this girl -- she did look like a bird -- didn't like loud, sudden noises either.
"Nice to meet you," she returned, brown eyes roaming over the boy to take in detail. He had a horn on his head! And...Yes. Yes he was bigger than her. Normally this would send her skittering behind Aiden's legs - however her father was no where to be seen at the moment. Besides, he seemed nice enough - AND he was white. Major points, there. The swan girl offered her small hand and tilted her head.
"Water's pretty." she commented idly, trying to figure out what else to say. She wasn't really used to people other than her family...
Etain took her hand lightly in his own larger one, shaking it in a matter-of-fact manner that was both overly serious and utterly ridiculous all at once. He dropped it quickly, not lingering over much on the contact before letting his own hand fall back to his side. "Nice to meet you too," he parroted absently, casting a glance out to the salt-smelling sea when the little girl -- Emi, he reminded himself -- mentioned it. "It is," he agreed cheerfully, eye dropped toward his feet. Which would be when he caught sight of her shoes.
"Your shoes are like mine."
She held back a giggle at the exaggerated motion and let her hand fall back as well, clinging to her own dress. At his observation, however, Emi raised a brow, "They are?" A quick look down confirmed his statement and she couldn't help but smile. What was it that her father always said?
Great minds...? Oh!
"Great minds think a like?" she asked, tilting her head to the side.
"Yeah," Etain agreed, a flutter of excitement crossing his features. "Must be, cuz we both like the same shoes." Clearly, he'd missed the point in the philosphical statement, but...well, he'd learn eventually. Hopefully. "You're feet are smaller than mine," he noted. That didn't stop him from flopping immediately down into the sand and peeling his own sandals off. "Want to trade?" If nothing else, it would be funny. He might not be able to get his feet into Emi's littler shoes, but it would be entertaining trying to run around with his feet only half way inside them.
Emi couldn't help but giggle at the thought of Etain running around in her smaller, purple shoes. Nodding her head, the girl plopped herself onto her rear (ignoring the wetness that soaked her further than she already was) and started to take off her shoes.
"Sure, if you want!"
It would be amusing, to say the very least. Idly she wondered if she'd be able to walk in bigger shoes...
Popping his sandals off his feet, Etain handed them over to Emi cheerfully. Waiting until she'd pulled her own off, he took the opportunity to dig his toes into the wet sand. It felt...weird, but not exactly unpleasant. Etain was willing to say it was in fact the exact opposite, but he felt he ought to have a little more knowledge on the subject before saying difinitively one way or the other.
Once Emi had her shoes off, her pulled them over his own feet. His heels stuck out the backs a good two inches, and his toes were a little cramped but... but it was funny lookin' was what it was, and that was always entertaing. "I'll race you to that rock over there," he proposed, wiggling his toes.
Etain's larger sandals were promptly put on her feet...and she blinked. They were incredibly small inside that shoe. Could she even walk? The question of a race made Emi look up from her fascination with the shoes and shook her head.
"Iunno if I can walk," she admitted, slowly standing up in the overly large sandals. She lifted a foot experimentally and...the shoe dropped off. No way she could win a race!
Etain watched and, for a few seconds after the shoe had hit the sand, was utterly silent. For a few seconds, anyway. Then, he promptly burst out laughing. Picking up the fallen shoe amidst the fit of giggles, he managed to nod a splutter out an 'O-okay, haha' before peeling Emi's tiny sandals off his own feet. "Maybe," he managed, quieting his laughter. "We should trade back then?" He sputtered a little, trying not to laugh but -- well, it had been pretty dang funny, right?
"Want a sandwich?" he said, just as suddenly. He was good at switching topics suddenly, apparently. "Tovar has some in a big basket. Do you like sandwiches?"
Emi almost shrunk back into herself as he started giggling. What was so funny? Did she do something wrong? And then she noticed that the shoe had fallen off her foot. The pressure wasn't there any longer...and she had to giggle herself. He wasn't laughing at her! He was laughing at the shoe. Or, she hoped he wasn't laughing at her. But it was like her to be optimistic, so she opted for that answer.
"Yeah, trading back would be good," she answered, giggling still as she handed his shoes back and took her own. With the shoes safely on her feet, Emi shifted slightly and felt her bum. She really needed to dust herself off.
"Maybe...What kind of sandwich?"
And should she take food from strangers?
"Tovar brings meat and peanut butter and jelly and stuff. I've got dandelions to put on mine, but Iunno if you want to eat stuff like that." He hadn't met too many (...any) kids that had the same taste in snadwiches as him. Pulling on his shoes, he wiggled his toes a little. Much better, he decided, before hauling himself to his feet.
"What're you, anyway?" he asked, head tipping slightly to the side. Some sort of white bird, obviously, but beyond that... "I'm a unicorn." It never hurt to volunteer a little information first, right? Stepping closer to Emi, utterly unwarranted and probably a little invasively, Etain reached down to brush the sand off the back of her dress.
A few meters up the beach, Tovar had a mild heart attack from where he sat in his lawn chair.

A child is expected to know certian things at certian ages. In order to obtain rights to their Dragon(egg), they must prove they can meet these requirements. The following sheet is for your child to fill out, with mild help from their guardian, then sent back to D-corp. (PM ot the mule) Also any changes, even minor such as haircuts, should be reported to the D-corp to be logged and filed. Thankyou, The Boss.

Aiden sat quietly at his makeshift desk - a piece of plywood sitting on a stack of books placed on the coffee table which was located in the living room. He could live without an office - it was for his children, after all.
God. They needed to move.
The form that D-corp had sent for Emi to fill out was sitting on the piece of wood and he was pondering over what exactly to include in it.
Getting a reletively decent grasp on what to say, Aiden set upon writing:
Dear D-corp,
Your form has been filled out. Emi's hand isn't as neat as her sister's, but at least it's somewhat legible. Khali helped her with it more than I did, admittedly. But that's beside the point.
Emi's taken a like to ballet. Her attention is absolutely absorbed by particularly Swan Lake. Most likely it's because it has to do with a swan - but I think perhaps she'll be taking an avid interest in dance. She even has insisted on wearing a silly pink and white tutu like dress (Even outside) in favor of normal clothing. She also prefers to be barefoot but will, if she must, wear a pair of white and purple jelly sandals.(Front Dress View: [x] Back Dress View: [x])
She's still quiet and shy though she seems to be able to come out of her shell if she likes the person she's talking too well enough. She's positively hyper around her younger brother, Cyrus, and increasingly quiet around her elder sister. That's understandable considering Khalindra's attitude towards siblings.
Her hair's grown out even longer than it is now and is to her rear. It's still the same soft waves that it's always been, though. Khalindra tries to curl it and put it on top of her head like her own but Emi doesn't seem to like it much. She prefers it either down or in a half bun, half down type style. I don't quite know how to explain it other than that.
That's all I have to report, really. Hopefully this is sufficiant. The form, of course, is included in this letter.
-Aiden Perry

"Daddy, daddy, LOOK!" Emi pointed at the screen at the princess who was now turning into a swan for the fifty bajillionth time that night. Aiden had, upon his daughter's insistance, rented the three Swan Princess movies and they were on the very last one.
"Yes, Emi," Aiden said, doing his best to appear interested in the animated movie, "Odette is turning into a swan, I know." Why were they watching these? Emi was interested in ballet and there certainly wasn't any ballet in the cartoons.
Unless you counted that fancy footwork with the queen in that ONE scene...Which he didn't.
"Am I as pretty as her?" She asked, brown eyes turning themselves onto her father in the most adorable fashion she could muster, "Will I be that pretty when I'm older?"
Aiden raised a brow at the sudden question, "Yes, and of course. Prettier, even."
Emi smiled brightly and crawled into her father's lap to settle in and watch the rest of the movie. Finally, the end came and she looked to be getting just a bit sleepy.
"For longer than forever..." she whispered along with the song, "I swear that I'll be true....Sing with me, daddy?"
It wasn't as if he didn't know the song. After watching it as many times as he had to with his daughter, he certainly did. However, he didn't have the best singing voice and the song...
Well, he didn't have enough time to protest because the next verse was starting up...and he if he didn't, Emi would be very upset.
"For longer than forever, I'll hold you in my heart..." he sang, voice scratchy and very unpleasant. Emi made a face.
"You can stop now."
He couldn't help but burst out laughing, "I'm that bad, huh?"
"Just a little," Emi said with complete honesty, looking up to her father with a small smile.
"Ouch," Aiden teased, tickling his daughter who squirmed around before rolling off his lap and onto the floor, collapsing in giggles, "See, that's what you get for insulting me!"
Emi couldn't stop laughing and held at her stomach. Her giggling went on for a few moments before she finally managed to settle down enough to lay flat on her back. Breathing heavily, the swan child peeked up at her father and was quiet.
"Do I have something in my teeth?"
"No, just wondering..."
"Wondering...?"
The swan moved to the couch and sat beside her father, smoothing out her night gown, "Can I have ballet lessons?"
He had actually been expecting that sooner or later and had, in fact, started putting away little bits of money since Alex hadn't exactly been around too much lately.
Not to mention they also had to save up for a DRAGON.
"Of course, Emi. If you're really serious about it, we can do lessons."
A look of delight came over the little girl's face and she dove at her father to give him a gigantic hug, "Thank you thank you thank you thank you I SWEAR I'm serious!"
Aiden laughed and hugged her close, "Yeah, we'll see. Now go to bed and be careful not to wake up Khali."
Emi was floating somewhere in the clouds and nodded her head. She would be doing anything asked of her for a VERY long time. She gave her daddy a kiss on the cheek before she scooted off into the bedroom to sleep for the night, leaving Aiden to clean up their mess.
Children were sometimes a real joy - even if they made you watch animated chick flicks.
