Jordan dove under the water, getting his hair wet and plastered to his face. It felt so refreshing in the heat of the day to submerge himself in the cooling waves. His feet ran against the seafloor, amused by how that felt. Surfacing, he stretched his arms above his head, blocking the bright sun from his eyes when he looked into the beautiful sky.

He caught the question after shaking some water from his ear. His hair was long enough that it looked like a dog shaking its fur after a bath, quite amusing actually. His ponytail swung back and forth, wrapped in it's binding, looking like -as it's name suggests- a tail.

"No, sorry, I didn't know her. Is she a relation of yours?" he swam a bit closer, but keeping his lower half hidden in the water. "And I'm sorry, but I haven't heard of your radio show before." he brushed back his matted, dripping bangs from his icy blue eyes.

he watched the young boy missing his responses, man he was cute. Gallen shook his head. "Um well 5 years ago she came to work for ye all, and I never heard form her since." he really wanted to get in that water now yet why. he sat up, "An don worry bout it, show was in new York, but I was on Broad Band." he sighed as he though of his sister. the gentle waves crashed as he admired the young man. the water was inviting like a siren, yet he did not understand why he wanted to get in it. This boy?

For a lack of a better word, he was oblivious to the gawking. He’d have figured it was good to keep contact with the person you’re talking to. That must have been part of his charm, big and dense. Some people were attracted to that kind of physique, not that the had thought passed through his mind. He just liked to keep his body healthy. Sure, maybe in his own time he was a tad narcissistic, but that was just playful admiration. He didn’t let his body dictate his life, so it was acceptable once in a while to show his appreciation.

“I always wanted to visit New York. Never had the money to go. In fact, this is the first place outside Tampa I’ve ever been, so this feels like a vacation.” He felt sorry his Gallen’s loss. “I hope she’s alright…” he offered his condolences “…and I hope she’s found. That would be awful if she disappeared.”

He was paying attention to Gallen and taking in the scenery, closing his eyes a few moments to just listen to the sounds of the waves, reveling in how wonderful those cool waves feel crashing against his backside. The sun was tolerable like this. Jordan arched his back and stretched out more, popping his back with an audible groan of satisfaction. His mind was at ease, blissful. distracted.

Oh god... Oh god...

Dai physically shook as she ran towards the beach, tears streaming from her eyes, her body unused to such speed... And her moving legs. The pain was definitely worth it, and the animal being inside her wanted to run, run, run, run away from the pain, or run for the sheer delight of it. She closed her eyes blissfully. She needed to tell someone about her changes. She didn't know why - Usually she was antisocial, shunning most talk, but now she needed a sympathetic board. Or a happiness board, she couldn't tell which. Her mind was so confused... She opened her eyes and narrowly doged a palm tree, but she didn't care. All she wanted to feel was the wind beneath her legs and flowing through her hair...

Feeling a cramp start to build under her rib, Dai stopped to an abrupt halt, coughing as fine sand and dirt blew up near her face with the help of the light breeze, tickling her nose and throat. "Ah..." Exhaling slowly, she held her hands near her side, puffing as her lungs tried to circulate oxygen throughout her body. Brushing away a stray hair with her elbow, she looked at her hands as she walked, her body feeling so pent-up with hidden energy it felt strange. The pinkie and ring fingers had started to meld together, leaving her with just four fingers on each hand, not five. Thankfully she didn't wear any rings on either finger; she'd hate to think what would happen then. Her new, bony legs brushing against a nearby bush, she looked down and marveled at them, how they moved, how graceful they were. She hadn't walked in a good twenty one years, and doing so was pure bliss.

People, the animal screeched. She needed company! Although she didn't feel totally strange alone, somehow her mind told her that company would make it even better. Sand crunched under her sandaled feet. The animal liked the beach, Dai reasoned. That was why she'd run to it. Rubbing her eyes blearily, -All of a sudden she felt quite tired- She felt long, fluttering eyelashes, and her eyes felt overlarge for her head. They reminded her of the eyes of the girls in those makeup commercials, large doe-eyes with long, attractive lashes that blinked flirtatiously from the screen.

People! The animal screeched again, louder this time. People! Go! Her body obediently obeyed, running full-sprint, despite the cramp at her side. She recognised one, even from the distance - Her eyesight was so clear, sharp. There were no other words to describe it.

"Gallen!"

Gallen watched the young man more and started to get up and walk, like in a daze into the water, fully dressed. The waves cashed on him as he stood there, this could not be, he could not be feeling something for this guy. yet he was cute.

"New York is a great place, grew up there from 15 to now, before that lived in me home country Ireland." he smiled as he heard the young man's condolences, "tis ok, ah think she is on this island so maybe ah will finally find er after all these years."

The waves crashed on him as he looked into Jordan’s eye’s “ ah am sorry but ye are really ….cute.”

Then her voice hit and he looked up, "Dai!"

"Oh god... Oh god... Gallen, I changed!" Her eyes were half-brimmed with unshed tears, half in happiness, half in pain. "It hurt so bad..." She gushed, the animal desperately wanting to share her feelings. "But look, I can walk! And I don't need glasses anymore!" She skidded to a halt and knelt down into the warm sand, wincing as her newly 'grown' bones crackled at the effort. "I don't know what to do, what to say, it's all so bright, I can hear everything, I want to talk, it's so..." Without her usual hesitation, she reached out and grasped Gallen in a large hug. "So..." She croaked blankly, letting go, smiling. "... Big..." She motioned to Jordan genially, the smile still remaining. "Who's this?" She turned to Jordan, her head bobbing slightly on her elongated neck as she nodded. "My name's Dai."

Jordan stuck a finger into his ear, fishing out some mroe water. Gallen's remark took him off guard. He brushed the back of his neck with his hand, grinning jovially. He wasn't sure how to respond, but at that moemnt he didn't have to as Dai came rushing up to them on the beach. He was a bit embarrassed, as he didn't think of himself in that way. He had some baggage that follwoed him into adulthood, though he possessed a pleasing body, his self-image was skewed. That's all thanks to his father because he was pushed to the brink of exhaustion to continually work his body. Due to that, no matter how much he tried, his body was never good enough.

"A friend of yours?"

Dai answered for Gallen, nodding even more fiercely, her neck almost reminding Jordan of a Pogo-Stick-type-Slinky, almost wobbly, with her head bobbing on the top like a cork floating in water. "Yes, I am." She hesitated, trying to sort her thoughts together. "Ah... Are you new?"

Gallen sighed in relief, something had come over him like a spell and he did not like it.

"Um yhea Dai, Jorden...Jorden....oh my god your not kidding ye just ran e’re with out yer wheel chair." He looked back at Jordan, “Dis is what is going on, though right now it is a merical, soon other changes will come as ah ave heard." His eyes held a hate not to Jordan but to Feral and to, the predicament, these eyes told a story of a young man hurt by his sisters disappearance and the vengeances he vowed upon those responsible.

Gallen wadded out of the water and pulled off his wet shoes and socks standing barefoot in the sand over Dai. "It tis ok, we all knew it was comein, sigh, one more week and ah may be next. But ye can walk, and hear and see better." He knelt down, he liked Dai and found her cute. "In the end at least you got back what you lost." he held her in his arms and rocked her.

Was he seeing firsthand a side-effect of the work he’d had a part in? As fascinating as it was, he didn’t want to be insensitive and accidentally say the wrong thing. It was a miracle if she had been wheelchair-bound and was now walking and quite swiftly at that. He didn’t want to suspect that shady dealings were transpiring. Things like that always had a way of getting out and coming back to bite the person in the rear. Well, if the injection they had each received had returned the use of her legs, then wasn’t it justified? It seemed a fair exchange. Jordan kept his thoughts private or the moment. His controversial views might cause some friction and that wouldn’t be conducive to peaceful, friendly relations.

Jordan allowed them to re-acquaint as he relished in the feel of naked swimming as he basked in the sunshine. He hoped that he wouldn’t burn, with his fair skin tone. It was then that it really hit him that he was swimming nude, discarded clothing lying on the beach. As long as he stayed in the water and didn’t make a spectacle of it, he’d be alright and not bring attention to himself, right? It’s hard to be nonchalant when your cheeks are flushing red.

“Yes, I’m a new arrival today, as far as I know. How long have you been here, Dai?" he tried to keep is reddened fae from direct contact. "Please forgive me if I'm out of line, but how long did it take your legs to heal? That's impressive.”

As Gallen held Dai, he realized Jordan was naked in the water, and started to blush. He did not want the poor guy to get embarrassed, though he was sure Dai would not mind or notice since she had her own new problems.

"Tis ok Dai,” he held her and rocked her. “Jordan the people ye worked fer created the serum that did dis, and they sent ye here because obviously they see ye are more useful as a test subject like the rest ‘o us." he sighed as he comforted the changed Dai, "hey at least we can dance love." Gallen smiled to her, though in his eyes his showed sadness and pity for her. It was great she was once more whole, but at what cost, to be a animal? He looked back to Jordan, "Though do not take it the wrong way, besides ah still think ye are cute."

Unbelievable! Ludicrous! Surreal… no matter how hard he tried to rationalize what he was seeing, it just didn’t make sense. He didn’t –no, couldn’t!- accept that his place of employment could be involved in something like this. Jordan could not accept the fact he’d played the role of pawn in a game to play with people’s lives. He wanted to labor through scientific method to benefit the animal kingdom. What was all this slanderous accusation without solid proof to back up their persecutions of Feral Labs? No different than a loyal lapdog, Jordan could not believe the proverbial master would dommit suh grievous acts on abducted subjects.

“This isn’t possible.” He whispered with incredulous shock. “Stop filling my head with your lies.” His loyalties met conflict between what he ‘knew’ and what he saw before him. If denial were his defense mechanism, then it was an effective one. In the world he knew, he was safe, his future was secure, his job had a good measure of stability, but this… this was throwing chaos into the mix. He rubbed his arm, covering that injection spot he’d been shown, in hopes it would fade from sight.

“I don’t want any part of this madness.” He backed away slowly. “I don’t know what’s going on… I don’t know if I can believe you…. I—I’m so confused….” His mind reeled in this paradox of nature, making sure to keep his distance..

Gallen frowned as he looked at the young man, "it is no lie lad, it be the truth. And ah was brought e'er against my will cause ah was fighting to reveal that truth. Now I am e'er." He let go of Dai and stood up, his hair blew in eth gust of wind as his bright green eyes met Jordan’s Cold blue. "ah speak no lie." His eyes did tell the truth, these eyes the color of precious jade.

Silence. It was unnerving as the tension mounted. Both Jordan and his acquaintance, Gallen, locked eyes in the onset of a showdown, neither relenting their stance. What began as potential friendship could just as easily turn into a bitter rivalry.

Jordan gritted his teeth in frustration. He wasn’t a champion debater, he wasn’t making ground with the topic, though neither was the green-eyed man who stood at a safe distance from him. He was feeling the frustration cloud his judgment. He tried to bite his tongue and keep from saying something that could make this situation escalate. Afterall, he was in no position to cause trouble. Jordan was vulnerable in his current situation. He knew it. They knew it. He wanted to give a piece of his mind, to continue defending what he wholeheartedly believed in. Fists clenched, uttering a low, guttural growl through grinding, gritted teeth. His lip curled back in growing frustration. He didn’t appreciate the insinuation that he had played an unwitting part in Dai’s misery, nor the misery of anyone else Gallen claims to have become an inducted into some madman’s experiment.

Eyes narrowed to near slits. Knuckles turned white with rage. Frustrated growls grew louder still. He was unyielding in his stationary position, caught between a rock and a hard place. He fought the clouding rage as best he could. It was difficult. He’d seen this rage before. He was about to succumb to a familiar weakness. He was on the verge of acting out like his father had with him. So many years of psychological and physical abuse can change a person, make him act out of character in heated moments. That sudden realization of what he was so close to repeating caused him to shudder and lurch forward, shaking violently in horror.

A hand touched his face, pushed back his bangs, trying to hide the streaming tears. His breathing turned ragged and exasperated. He was having trouble breathing! He was experiencing dizziness, more like vertigo suddenly. He meandered towards shore, shambling as a zombie and without warning, Jordan collapsed, disappearing beneath waves.
